How many ZCoin (not Zcash) forks exist?
Are any of them any good?

I think ZcCoin, Kurrent, Zoin (?)

Any good ones?

244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Next big thing? on: April 21, 2017, 05:50:14 AM
What do we really need from an altcoins, what is the next big thing?

We have anoncoin, platforms for trading and smart contracts, tokens..

Where are we heading?

Bitcoin was something completely new, can we expect another one?

Too much alt-coins out there already. Poloniex has decided to de-list some of them that have no or low volumes so that speaks for itself. Only purpose I see on altcoin is that they are just a pump and dump only. Creating a FUD then pump some alt coins, sell to make profit. That's it.

The amount of coins will only worsen by the minute, might as well see what coin has the plausible idea.

More coins is good! We need people trying new things
245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RLC] iEx.ec blockchain-based distributed cloud announces its Crowdsale on: April 19, 2017, 11:11:50 AM
I just need some clarification before joining the Crowdsale coming up later today:

Quote
Will RLC token be tradeable?
Once you received your tokens, you own them and can do
whatever you like with them. If by ‘tradeable’ you mean ‘listed
on any exchange platform’, then you can directly ask them.

What do you mean by we can ask exchange directly If we can trade RLC token on their exchange? because The last time I checked, Getting in touch with exchanges & ensuring that the token/coin get listed is part of the responsibilities of the developers? Although The community can also support by Tweeting & filling request form of exchanges. The heavy lifting is done by the team.

I just want to know that You'll do your best to get it listed once your ICO ends in May.
When you don't get a reply I think you can assume the worst
246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RLC] iEx.ec blockchain-based distributed cloud announces its Crowdsale on: April 19, 2017, 06:12:55 AM
Is there a link we can go to to participate in the crowdsale? Huh

I have opened this page...but can't see how to participate. Huh

http://crowdsale.iex.ec/

When the crowdsale starts, instead of the yellow button that allows you to register your e-mail address
there will be Checkbox to confirm T&C and a button that shows you payment info.

2 cases possible:

1. if you pay in ETH you don't need that page, you cand send your ETH directly to the crowdsale address
2. if you pay in BTC you need that page in order to make the addr conversion. For your public ETH addr you receive an addr to send your BTC.

So once the sale starts I can click on the button and it will have an Ether address to send ether to from myetherwallet?

Is the ether address the same for everyone?

thanks

How does the Blocknet compare to Cosmos?
248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] LUNYR - Decentralized World Knowledge Base on Ethereum - 14,094 ETH Raised on: April 17, 2017, 08:36:17 AM
I just bought in, but it seems a bit too complicated.

Now where can I see how many ether have been contributed? It should be in the OP.
249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It's time to send projects like Melon and Cosmos a message on: April 17, 2017, 04:01:55 AM

So, what's the reason for us to support the project such as melon?
Tell me your reason. But honestly, i don't want to support the project that the dev is really greedy to being a rich person. And just take the advantage of the community which gives a lot of support for them.

I don't think we should support Melon, or Cosmos.

I think we should support projects that have fair launches. They need us  we don't need them.  Smiley
250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It's time to send projects like Melon and Cosmos a message on: April 17, 2017, 03:00:09 AM
What message mate?either don't participate in ICOs or when you do then bite it and swallow it because you deserve it and stop bitching around if you couldn't effectively take your share of the stolen money that these ICOs are practically stealing from people.
I don't think you understood.
These projects have fake ICO'S where they distribute the coins to themselves their friends and venture capitalists. I did not participate.

They think that bitcoin (0r their version of it) is like a private company for them to make money.
So they don't give you or I the chance to participate. But they hope that we will later buy from them and their friends when they list on an exchange.

And they alosy hope that well support the network for them.

So I'm suggesting that people take this into account and rather support coins that have an open distribution or a "fair"one.

Why make wealthy people even wealthier when they don't give ordinary people a chance to participate?
251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / It's time to send projects like Melon and Cosmos a message on: April 16, 2017, 11:54:03 PM
Projects like Cosmos and Melon pretend to have ICO's but they just end up giving all the coins to themselves their friends and venture capitalists.
They think that blockchain projects are like companies and that by getting in on the ground floor they can become rich.

But they need us. they need the network effect. they need people to support their project.
they want us to support the network while they get all the cheap coins.

It's time for the community to begin to question whether we should support their projects, when they don't give ordinary people a chance to get in on the ground floor
252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][COS] COSMOS, network of blockchains on: April 16, 2017, 11:45:23 PM
Can someone please clone this project so we can have a real community crypto currency.

The people behind this project need us. They need a network of people using this. But they just want to get rich and let their mates get rich and hope that we, the people, plug in and support the network.

254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dash Instamine is a non-issue. on: April 16, 2017, 11:01:13 AM
Partial Instamine is a non-issue.

1. Bill Gates pre-mined Microsoft stocks.
2. Mark Zuckerberg pre-mined Facebook stocks.
3. Vitalik pre-mined Ethereum.
4. Crypto-coins are both digital gold and a stock.

But none of them lied and deceived people about it
255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Craig Wright turn out to be Satoshi Nakamoto on: April 16, 2017, 10:36:42 AM
Since Craig Wright failed miserably trying to proof, that he is Satoshi Nakamoto, I would say he is not.
Since he rather obviously showed he is not, he probably is Satoshi, but his secret is now safe as no one will believe he is
256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin needs altcoins because ... on: April 15, 2017, 09:19:08 AM
...

- Alts work like a testnet for bitcoins (looking forward seeing Litecoin with SegWit)

- Once an alt feature looks working it might get adopted no matter onchain or in a side chain. (RSK)

- Alts mostly need bitcoin to trade and some bitcoins might be always reserved / locked for this.

- Alts might help to generate a closed bitcoin economy

My favorit comes here:

- Alts work like an infinite fear generator (Hydra) against any try of regulators to bring bitcoin down, since there are too many to kill and its very easy to just create a new one (like a Hydra cannot be killed by chopping off some heads, even the biggest one!) > crypto world is anti fragile and it will stay on this solar system from year 2009 on.

Any other things missing here?
Because with alts we know what they are doing and planning. Bitcoin cant come to a decision.
257  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you stop someone forcing you to hand over your private key and taking all on: April 15, 2017, 09:16:59 AM
We need a new kind of wallet that protects geeks, by having the option of limiting withdrawals

You can do this with bitgo https://www.bitgo.com/solutions#wallet

How it works is you have one key and they have another and co-sign your txes. You can set limits etc. However Bitstamp used this company before, and a hacker hacked Bitstamp and Bitgo and stole both keys and was able to bypass the withdrawal limit.
But if I have one key and they have another key, then they would need to steal my key too.
Are you saying they stole the persons private key too?
258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you stop someone forcing you to hand over your private key and taking all on: April 15, 2017, 09:09:16 AM

You can encrypt your wallet but if you will be blackmailed or forced hard enough you will do anything, you will even disclose your password.

Of course you will. Geeks into bitcoin will be no match for a ruthless thug. Thugs are very very scary people. And I don't say that lightly

259  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you stop someone forcing you to hand over your private key? on: April 15, 2017, 09:05:17 AM
How are they going to force you hand over your private key? Are they going to point a gun to your face and make you recite your private key?
I mean if someone learns you are into bitcoin, and suspects or knows you have some coins.
Of course they will. Are they going to knock your door and take your computer away? Are they going to your house and point a gun at you? Both of them is considered robbery and you have no choice even if it involves fiat instead of Bitcoin.

yes but people tend to only have small amounts of cash around but bitcoin enthusiasts may have a lot of bitcoin
260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you stop someone forcing you to hand over your private key and taking all on: April 15, 2017, 09:00:49 AM
I was hoping I wouldn't have to spell it out. I'm really talking about where someone hears you are into bitcoin so they turn up at your house, force their way in and put a gun in your mouth. I didn't want to get so graphic, but I think we as a community should develop safeguards for this.

these people might not be very smart, but they might be thugs

In that case, they have no idea how much Bitcoin you have, they have no idea what your Bitcoin addresses are, so just hand over a decoy wallet containing a small amount of BTC. They will have no way to know if you have more than that.

But if someone kidnapped someone who they knew had a lot of bitcoin that will not work. Maybe you told your wife you have a lot and she told her friend and someone else found out. This is a possibility for some people.
