241  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive on [GLBSE] on: November 18, 2012, 06:33:28 AM
Is there somewhere to get all of the trade history for GLBSE and figure out who owned what shares?  I know how many shares I owned but no point in telling anyone without proof.

Yes I made a post that links to all the history.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=117491.0

I don't know what good that will do.  Since GLBSE never sent confirmation emails about the transaction taking place there is no direct proof of who bought what.

Maybe Cognitive could start setting up its own claims process that has the history of trades and the account history from others if they recorded it or saved it from GLBSE.  I got lucky and saved my GLBSE history on October 2, but others might not be as fortunate.
242  Economy / Securities / Re: [....] ART-OTC issue - The Mug Shot #2 included - crowdfunding the project on: November 17, 2012, 05:59:48 AM
Stop following me around like a pervert.

WARNING: EskimoBob's security was delisted and banned from assets-otc.

@EskimoBob you asset has just been desisted from #assets-otc and you will never be allowed to list any assets at this service.

I sent you the history of your asset by email - all 3 transactions and both the pgp keys.

Now go licking some more goats' balls.

LOL!
Usagi (Oliver), how stupid are you? I was lucky to get out of this "service" at so early stage! As it turned out, this "service" was just a joke. Read the rest of the thread.
Only person you discredit with this nonsense is yourself, usagi.
Now, go and troll some other thread

It seemed you only got delisted because you talked about Open Transactions on poitr_n's thread about #assets-otc.  It was a real eye opener for me and I don't think anyone would or should use the #asset-otc service.
243  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive on [GLBSE] on: November 17, 2012, 05:53:36 AM
Just got off the phone with James, he said he's not going to be producing trading history for anyone. As for releasing shareholder data, he said that he's asking for the extra coins his script sent out to be returned, and it looks like he won't be releasing shareholder data to issuers until that happens. He said about 3/4 of the extra coins have been returned.

Is he announcing this somewhere?  I feel like I missed an announcement or something.

If I'm understanding you correctly, his script screwed up, paid out too much, and now he's emailed those people and asked for the coins back?

I think Nefario's gone off the deep end.  Sad

He expects to get 100% of the extra coins back and until then he won't release shareholder data to issuers?

Exactly :/

And he's told me he won't be posting on the forum until everything cools down.

He's extremely stressed, as anyone in that situation would be. He definitely brought most of this upon himself through the (terribly ridiculous) way he's shutting down the exchange.

If any of you guys have questions, he picks up my calls so let me know. (Its amazing how far being nice gets you.)

So it has been over 4 weeks since this last post.  Any hope left in getting the asset records?  Also, was Cognitive exposed to PatrickHarnett?  I just read he got a scammer tag for mishandling depositor funds.
244  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer tag: PatrickHarnett on: November 14, 2012, 09:51:28 PM
So what exactly do you need to do around these lands to get a scammer tag? Send a video from the Bahamas while drinking a pina colada with a little umbrella that says "Haha! I scammed you, you gullible idiots"?

I mean, seriously? Do you guys want a signed, notarized meas-culpa, written in blood?

No you just have to be an idiot and make the forum administrators lose bitcoins.  If you are popular and can claim ignorance, then you are free to scam.
245  Other / Meta / Re: Pirate PMs on: November 14, 2012, 09:47:16 PM
I had hoped to find corroborating evidence of some information that had already been provide to me such as:

The location of the several safe deposit boxes Trendon Shavers controls and confirmation of the items I was told they contained.

Information on who may be receiving BTC from Trendon Shavers and funding him with cash payment

The name or info on any credentials or identity that Trendon Shavers may have assumed.

The location Trendon Shavers may stopped at to purchase and/or hide assets.

The name of any paramours Trendon Shavers may have had during his time in Dallas

And information that may verify his current location and how long he plans to remain in this location.

However when the many issues were brought up in this  thread, I withdrew my offer to assist in reviewing the PM's  as there is already enough FUD.

Believe what you may, I am not a Attorney.  I am not an investigator.  I do not work for the SEC.

I am just a member of this community who is publicly collecting information on another scammer.

I don't know why you are going through all this trouble.  Just fill out one of these forms on anyone you think made income from pirate's adventure, including his wife or PPT operators and let the professionals handle the rest.  People don't report stolen funds to the IRS.  Then the IRS will have dozens of people assigned to the case, instead of just one person.
246  Other / Meta / Re: [Proposal] New ReEducation Subforum on: November 14, 2012, 09:40:23 PM
I thought that was how he got the "Great" tag.  I wonder who else can get that tag around here.

I take it you're requesting one?

I am flattered but I am not propositioning you.
247  Other / Off-topic / Re: Cats lead Feds to KnightMB (worth 371kBTC) in Romney Tax Hack. on: November 14, 2012, 09:31:35 PM
ok, that story can make sense. However it would make knightmb having owned the stick before a pure coincidence. It would be more satisfying if there was a connection.

I'm not saying that him owning the USB stick is a coincidence - obviously it isn't if he's the one who sent the extortion demands.  What I'm saying is that it's not unusual to receive tip-offs which are based on little more than "sounds like something person X might do" or for people to make reports to government agencies out of pure spite.  Many such tips will go absolutely nowhere, but sometimes they lead to actual evidence that the person being reported was involved in the crime even if the person making the report didn't really believe they were responsible but just wanted to cause them grief.

Maybe someone thought this is exactly the kind of thing KnightMB would do because of his prior sketchy behaviour or maybe they just saw an opportunity to make his life difficult.  Maybe the SS received no tip-offs regarding KnightMB at all and it was something else entirely which made them look in his direction.

If he's eventually charged, there's a good chance that we'll find out more background information about what led to him being investigated.

I doubt the SS would even need a tip.
How many people in Franklin, TN use bitcoins?  Method: Google search.
Search the name Michael Brown for past investigation by the Federal Government.
Bingo.
248  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Patrick Harnett - Kraken Fund on: November 14, 2012, 12:18:01 AM
Patrick defaulted @50% on capital, breaking a few terms of his offer:

This sits in "Securities" rather than my usual lending section thread because it is a little more aggressive in approach and not as reliable.

Based on some work I have been doing I believe there is space for this particular fund and because it is a little different labelling it Kraken seems appropriate.

Basic parameters:
  • Fund commences 19 August 2012.
  • Investments may be made in multiples of 100BTC.
  • Withdrawals may be made in multiples of 100BTC.
  • Contributed capital is backed by my personal funds.
  • Returns will be paid weekly (currently planning on Fridays) - no compounding or automatic reinvestment.
  • Target and maximum return 2.5% per week. (for the ponzi people, that would be 361% annually, but it's only 130% because it is non compounding.)
  • Minimum weekly return 0% - any losses will be funded personally.

You will need to request a unique deposit address and supply a unique return address.  I will have a sensible limit on the number of investors because I don't want to spend my whole life doing weekly payments.
Returns obtained over and above 2.5% are taken as my fee - that's how I can afford to support the minimum return and "insure" the capital.  If I have coins sitting idle, they don't lose money, but impact on the average return.

Obviously the question is "What am I doing with the coins?"
If I was to provide a simple answer like buying 50 BFL singles and going mining, or putting 10,000 coins into XYZ asset on GLBSE then there wouldn't be much science in that and it would ruin the market that I am looking at.
Also, I do expect people to assume funds might simply be going into BS&T and accuse me of feeding an illegal activity.  Due to the vitriol that goes with that, this will not be an open thread because there will be no point debating that.

So what am I going to use funds for?  Some will be going into my "vulture" capital business interests, some into some long-term BTC investments I have held in real-life ventures (such as an equipment manufacturer), some in BTC assets, a small amount of futures trading, some into various risk/reward adjusted investments that are available in the bitcoin world.

Edit: Currently 25 registered users.  18 currently paid.
Edit 19Aug: The largest commitment made was 1000 coins, and that was before the closure of one of the largest (and smartest) BTC operations.  In fairness, I consider a 1,000 maximum per account is appropriate making the absolute maximum size of Kraken Fund 25,000.

Kraken Fund#2 wait list (several):
HonsetBob, Rolo TonyBrown Town, BinaryMage, aghori, EskimoBob, Onichan, LoweryCBS, coinft, Mousepotato, Goelmer, CecilNiosaki, bruiser, Gigavps, "pm page 122", Electricbees, Macboy80, Brunic, Coin.Karma, Litecoin, Simonk83, DeadTerra, mb300sd, ScottJ, REF, nave, Soros Shorts, ShadowAlexey, Cobra

265.8065 BTC currently held on wallet. Forfeiting the pass-through's 10% cut on interest.

See KRAKEN SPREADSHEET

Claimed holding (note it adds up to 81%):

This fund was started it appears to scam people into paying Patrick's PPT debts.
The fact he was going to invest in pirate was not known by investors and it is also supposedly guaranteed by his personal funds.
I had a few of the passthrough shares on glbse before it shut down and I feel that people were intentionally misled as they had no way of judging the risk involved with the investment.

Damn, you have really bad luck.  In the future could you post your investments so others do not have to worry about being contrarian to you?

I am not surprised by all of this.  If these people that are borrowing bitcoins are so credit worthy, why would they need to borrow bitcoins at such astronomic interest rates when interest rates are an all time low for USD.  It is not that hard to convert USD to bitcoin.

Scammer tags seem to be for those that are unpopular or do not support the governance of the forums and less about if they actually committed fraud.
249  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Find Trendon Shavers in person thread... [BTCST, BTS&T, pirateat40] on: November 14, 2012, 12:10:23 AM
Trendon Shavors' Master Plan, his End Game is playing out perfectly.

He's untouchable.

There are a number of individual investors who would obviously like to see him brought to justice but most of the major players fear unexpected legal and tax liabilities in coming forward.

So unless the SEC is collecting enough information to file civil charges (and who knows how long that could take)

Trendon Shavors has already walked off into the sunset with everyone BTC - and probably  getting ready to scam again.

They got Capone for tax evasion, maybe they can get pirate the same way.

251  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Romney's tax returns - first Bitcoin extortion? on: November 13, 2012, 05:52:04 PM

If this guy has over 370,000 BTC why on earth is he asking for financial donations?

He probably had the encrypted passwords saved on his computer that were seized.

BTW, I think this guy is 100% innocent.  The only fraudsters in bitcoin land use Bootstrap for website design, yet this guy used Joomla.

Like a running-dog

I politically-correct lolled.

...

stanman78, what the hell is this?

Goat and Rarity are names never to be spoken about again.  Bitcointalk.com is a libertarian utopia.  Comparing theymos to Hilter and Stalin in one whole product is completely wrong.  theymos is more like a libertarian Alexander the Great, great men paving the way for a new world.

I think it is time for you to get reeducated.

Wasn't Alexander the Mediumly Great known to indulge in that unspeakable crime involving buttholes?

I thought that was how he got the "Great" tag.  I wonder who else can get that tag around here.
253  Other / Meta / Re: Pirate PMs on: November 06, 2012, 06:31:10 AM
I love the logic:

Won't send them to the SEC because they might use it to go after 3rd parties.

Will release it to a single person because they signed a nondisclosure agreement.

There is no way to know if BCB would just send the data to the SEC.  Even if he or she did, will the NDA be taken up in court?  Probably not.  Instead just release all the data publicly, but theymos should also release all his PMs as well.
254  Other / Meta / Re: [Proposal] New ReEducation Subforum on: November 02, 2012, 03:18:23 AM
Please follow the most important rule of bitcointalk.com, do not post off-topic replies.

This thread is about the implementation of the ReEducation subforum and for anyone that might like to participate in self-criticism.
255  Other / Meta / Re: [Proposal] New ReEducation Subforum on: November 02, 2012, 03:00:40 AM
Haters gonna hate.
Trolls gonna troll.
Admins gonna administrate.

It's his house, play by his rules. Simple stuff, people.

Yes, exactly, and there should be no questioning of the owners rules and administration style.  I only wish we could reeducate the haters and the trolls so they can see things the right way.

You know, It's funny. I've questioned the admins, before, but I'm still here. Maybe it's because I wasn't a dick about it, and/or that wasn't the final straw in a string of troll posts.

The mere fact of the continued existence of this thread proves your sarcasm hollow.

This thread still exists because I am not being sarcastic.

258  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Nefario on: October 31, 2012, 05:16:32 AM
I thought genjix had to eat catfood + bits of newspaper cause he was so poor ?

kinda seems like all these conflict of interests between certain people is the reason why some of you have been scammed.. multiple times now..

Wikipedia says he is  a professional poker player. Whatever that means.

GLBSE was Nefarios only source of income so now that its closed wtf do people think he's living off ?

I thought the doll.
259  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin committee! on: October 31, 2012, 03:45:33 AM
Ok to clear things up we are trying to do what bitcoin foundations is trying to do but 100% better.

Count me in too.  I love the mission statement.

Also, I think the name should be Better Bitcoin Foundation.
