241  Other / Politics & Society / Re: European parliament to ban certain plastic products on: October 27, 2018, 05:24:37 PM
I already read this somewhere else. The main reason cited is to protect whales and sea animals from eating those garbage which they cannot digest and which will kill them.
A good step : yes. But it is too limited.
Mediterranean sea or the North Sea or even the Atlantic ocean will always have plastics if someone outside the EU will keep throwing it in the sea even thousands of miles away. Besides, chemicals waste are always trashed in the ocean (without forgetting the greenhouse effect which doesn't exist obviously thanks to the clever and the best potus ever).
I fully support any ban issued against this silent killer and hormones modifiers, BPA iykwim.

(...)

Personally, I used to report every bumped topic older than 3 months. I don't see why should a discussion be made after such long period.
If an old topic contains genuine information and is very important to the community then it is ok. Other topics have to be used as a reference in a new topic (season 2 somehow).

Well this is a difficult one. I think you really should look at the content and the quality of the new message. We don't want people to start a new thread about marriage, or Merit or Ripple or whatever, every other 3 months, do we? If they really can't resist pumping their Activity, I'd rather see them keep their irrelevant nonsense in the old topic instead of opening new ones. Roll Eyes

I prefer to start a new spammy topic rather than spamming an old one. This way you can detect new spammers at least.
And what's wrong with starting a new marriage (topic) every so on? Some people want to discover new...experiences Tongue
243  Other / Meta / Re: 200percent scamming spammers - any Modo here on: October 27, 2018, 12:07:20 AM
And soon the banned users will be 200percent more than the new registered one. First world pwoblem...
244  Other / Meta / Re: Another deleted post on: October 26, 2018, 06:08:29 PM
I'd be willing to bet the javascript trash forum that we're supposedly migrating to won't allow that feature without months of changes. Pretty sure you could just add a query to the existing forum to check the age of the most recent post, and if it's greater than several months; disallow the post. SMF probably wouldn't be that hard to extend.

Hmm, is it that hard to take a look when the first post was posted? I am aware many people here just jump to the last post(+/-s) and don't bother to check the date but this is in the first place their fault and I reported them several times in the press section.

I saw it was from like 2014 or something, but wasn't too long ago in the grand scheme of things. Also, the forum isn't a live-only-thing, not just "guys, it's older than 10 min old, forget it!!!"

247  Other / Meta / Re: New Child Board for banned users... on: October 24, 2018, 11:54:45 PM
Can we call it The Swamp?
The Swamp is just a sub when a temporary ban is issued but the deep well is harder to climb  Tongue (edit : deportation zone is the best thing ever)

I read several times users asking for subs for topics started by banned or hacked users in meta or about merit topics.
Well, nothing happened until now but it would be good if meta get ride of such topics one day.
248  Economy / Reputation / Re: A member uses 9 Bitcointalk accounts on: October 23, 2018, 05:46:26 PM
Catch these accounts (or others in general) posting the same stuff, spamming, doing plagia, abusing the same bounty campaign and (s)he/they will get a long vacancy. Otherwise, nothing can be done here since having multiple accounts is allowed.
249  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] The most generous users giving merits on: October 23, 2018, 05:32:35 PM
They can send more merits per post, which is what theymos has been saying all along. Perhaps they can ask to reduce the allocation if that puts too much pressure on them.

There is no hard criteria for a "good" post. Whatever you don't mind seeing on this forum is worth a merit I think.

Convincing enough Wink
The question that come to my mind is how much smerit a source could give in a row/repetitively without receiving (silly) remarks?
250  Other / Meta / Re: Enhanced newbie restrictions & requirements on: October 23, 2018, 08:11:23 AM
and some of us will be here for years as Jr Members because we don't reach 10 merit.

system is officially 'a bit shit' really.

Don't worry, maybe in the future there will be a rise of the merit limit for members to 30 and junior members to 10 then altcoins boys will be here for decades Wink
251  Other / Meta / Re: [TOP-200] The most generous users giving merits on: October 23, 2018, 07:58:36 AM
The best solution to all merit problems is by increasing sources number and by decreasing the allocated smerit for each of them.
Some sources have a lot of smerit and they struggle to find the best posts to reward, which may be frustrating, and which could be the case for QA?
For me, this is the main reason that let me prefer to stay away from this hassle.
252  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns [Last update: 08-Oct-2018] on: October 22, 2018, 10:28:52 PM
It has been said by Kprawn, we just need to wait for Fatanut or Mitchell for the update.

Sometimes Fatanut remains absent for several days like any other member (real life issues) so if anyone has few minutes to update the table until fatanut come back, he is welcome as usual
253  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-21] Ephrata, Washington Imposes Year-Long Ban on New Cryptocurrency Min on: October 22, 2018, 10:18:22 PM
-snip-
Which would you prefer if you lived there?

I'm all for miners soaking up excess capacity, but if they're driving up electricity rates, they should pay the difference. Not residents.

Everyone will prefer that any business have to pay a higher rate if it exceeds the excess of energy  Wink
Since it isn't the first case, i am afraid that they will select mining firms only in the future to pay higher rates without including other industries that consume also too much electricity. That's all  Smiley
254  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-21] Ephrata, Washington Imposes Year-Long Ban on New Cryptocurrency Min on: October 22, 2018, 10:40:19 AM
Quote
some inconveniences for the residents, with some reportedly suffering a lack of electricity due to the operation of the high energy-consuming cooling equipment by the local crypto miners.
This is the main reason causing the suspension of the new mining activity. The hidden reason is to regulate this business and maybe impose higher electricity rates.
255  Economy / Reputation / Re: The Pharmacist,actmyname,Vod.. The mafia trying to get controll of bitcointalk ? on: October 21, 2018, 01:01:42 PM
Still multiposting

Same comment. People has been banned for burst posting and since trust isn't moderated better to move the topic to reputation imo since it has nothing to do with meta.
256  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Saudi Journalist Megathread on: October 20, 2018, 01:48:53 PM
they can kill Megathread anywhere outside the embassy...
2. Megathread's activities are very wide, and Saudi agents can completely create some abnormal deaths

Ok now you got me worried. Are we all in danger here?
Yeah we are. Moron Ben Salman gonna hunt us all with his mercenary and put us in the roasted chicken position inside his castle oven then of course cut the hell outta us. Too bad.

Saudis (politicians ofc) think they are talking to a bunch of dummies with IQ level similar to them.
Ok "we" killed him after a fight and boom there is no body? The best part is hunting/killing his (MBS) closest friends, he will be left alone and will pay...one-day.
257  Economy / Reputation / Re: Yobit pump, seriously ? on: October 20, 2018, 01:36:25 PM
I received that email too, can't really say what was in it because I trashed it without reading it, just like all other emails I receive from them.
Already doing the same but I always remember what the email is talking about Wink

How exchange whose owner is unknown can do this? I really wonder Roll Eyes
Haha nice one

Yeah. That just adds more to their scumminess. I already tagged them beforehand for general shittiness but this is the cherry on top of the asshole.

Added another rating.
Nice description. Unfortunately you are the only one tagging them (for the moment) but at least a red trust is always good.

Here's a previous thread discussing about Yobit pump, The Official Yobit Pump. Obviously, their action really speaks how shady this exchange is. Never to be trusted.
Thanks for the information, I will lock this topic now and if needed anyone can continue the discussion there.
258  Economy / Reputation / Yobit pump, seriously ? on: October 19, 2018, 05:09:02 PM
First i apologies if this was discussed elsewhere, i made a quick search and failed to found a topic talking about it.

Well, I received an email from yobit, as a previous user of this shady exchange, where they mentioned that they will make a pump action.
I neglected it before reading it again where they stated that they will pump a coin with 1 btc each 1-2 minutes 10 times (total of 10 btc)... Best part is stating the possibility of loses and the no refund policy  Wink
(for more information : https://mobile.twitter.com/YobitExchange)
Seriously, how could an exchange do this!! It is shameful. Wonder know if they do it also in secret.

Tl;dr : avoid this exchange.
259  Other / Off-topic / Re: Dig Bicks Journey to Full Member. on: October 18, 2018, 05:31:38 PM
I don't know why but before even reading your last posts, the first thing coming to my mind is this :
User X Journey to banned status Starts now.
Warning # 1 - obtained...

A little bit serious, some Bitcointalkers think meta is their portfolio  Undecided
260  Other / Meta / Re: !!!Danger to buy a red trust account!!! on: October 17, 2018, 10:56:35 PM
Mmm okay. Buying/selling accounts isn't (yet) illegal. Red trust feedback isn't a good thing but it does not mean obligatory that the account is evolved in shady actions.
Better to keep a distance from this grey zone, that's ok, meanwhile I don't know if this needs to open a topic for it...
