241  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it right to advice other people against gambling for personal reasons like?? on: April 06, 2024, 03:19:38 PM
You know it's not gambling is to be blame in that situation but the lack of discipline of a gambler. If we truly understand the purpose of gambling and on how to manage its risk, we would not make a conclusion that gambling is bad. Instead of discouraging people to gamble, we can do it in a more positive way like educating them on the risk and we can use our life experience for them to really understand how much it would ruin their life if they cannot control their emotion in gambling.

Losing a life savings is too much, how much more on a person that is struggling financially and end up borrowing money or stealing because he wanted to win back his losses. However, with discipline we won't reach to that regrettable level because we know our limitations and we stick with it.
242  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: April 06, 2024, 02:13:42 PM
I had no idea that Luka didn't played last night but I still had faith in Mavs to win the game and they did it. However , it was a very close game between them and a very awesome fair fight between Curry and Irving and I'm glad I've woke up see the game and I can't wait for this night to watch Lakers vs Cavs.  Cool
I think Luka could play but they didn't push him.

He was reported to have a sore knee issue , and was announce out. Actually, I didn't know he'll not play, we got caught by surprise but they win, so it's not a problem. I hope everyone didn't bet early because if they did and take the Mavericks spread, they'll lose as it was as high as -5 but Mavericks only won by 2 points.

About the Lakers vs Cavaliers, it's quite hard to choose but I guess I'll pick the struggling Cavaliers hoping they'll bring some suprise to the home team.
243  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Land Based Casinos in the Digital Age on: April 06, 2024, 11:04:51 AM
But the concept will still be the same right? I mean like in the evolution of slot machines which is one of the most played games in a land base casinos. We might see themes evolving but still the idea is there.

It just differ on the venue then as online casinos are played at your home in front of your computer of cellphone but slot machines in the land based casino gives more entertainment as you'll see a lot of people playing also. We can do almost everything online, but still people choose to go to the venue to socialize and that's what online casinos can't give to us.

I know some may say that you can also socialize online, yes it's possible but if you experience the best kind of socialization in a land based casino, why would anyone choose to do it online, as much as possible, we like to maximize that value of entertainment we are getting, so we go for the best experience.
244  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: April 06, 2024, 10:39:27 AM
Pogue alone can't carry them, they need a good back up support especially with their other stars unfortunately,  both Castro and Oftana are not producing numbers that they needed,  both being limited and NP is really showing them gòd defense and good conversions of those turnovers, they did try to rally back but not enough time to make an upset, no need to mentioned Williams as for sure the negotiations didn't work out well to sign him back, maybe they need to rebalance the system and find new sets of role players to help.
Maybe they just have a bad game as they don't loss this much this conference so far. We will see next game what is the adjustment they'll make, but I want to see them adjusting more on their defense as even though their shots aren't falling but their defense is fine, they would not lose with that huge margin.

TNT is slowly becoming an average team, we still want them to be in the finals but the current roster doesn't have enouh fire power to bring them to that big stage. If they can't pursue Williams, then they should look for another superstar as they badly needed it.
245  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: April 05, 2024, 10:40:28 AM
I can't believe what I'm seeing. TNT now down by 28 points vs Northport. This could be the biggest loss of TNT this conference if they will not be able to come back here. They still have 1 full quarter and 6 minutes left in the 3rd, they need  a big run here so that the 4th quarter will be manageable.

Northport are just playing great basketball, they are sharing the ball and were very confident especially from outside. no wonder they are on a winning streak now, though this is not a playoff team, I guess they need to be taken seriously.

That's how it is now, it's just unfortunate that TNT were not able to come back in the 3rd. This 4th quarter, they have a good run but i think there's no enough time to win the game. With less than 3 minutes left in the game and Northport is still leading a double digit, I don't see this run to be converted to a win now.

now, maybe they realize that they really need Williams..BTW, what happened to the rumors that he will get sign?
246  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Going all in and losing the bet on: April 05, 2024, 09:55:46 AM
The fun are only achieve when we win, yes we are having fun as we gamble but honestly people doesn't feel good if they loss, at least most of us gamblers. So the discipline that is needed when gambling is to only ensure that we don't gamble more than we can afford, but at the end of the day, losing is still painful, but it varies on the amount, losing big, more painful, but losing enough, we can sure eventually move on.

I would say that it depends from a situation a lot. You say there isnt no fun when you lose. But I remember gambling with friends. We were placing bets in online casino. The game was crash if not mistaken. When the rocket flew up, we have started cheering it, but when it exploded, we made fun of the person who placed bet, called him looser and suggested that he should have clicked jump. We wasnt aimed to harm his feeling; all of us were laughing. There are moments when it is fun to lose. If he would go all-in that time, it would be even funnier. (once again we, a company of friends, dont gamble for money)

That could be another way of having fun, it's not the normal, but normally when you gamble with your friends, most of the time you'll expect a loss because you are not concerntrating, instead you are just having fun, but at least you'll not risk too much as you know you are not seriously gambling at all.

I'm referring to the general feeling of most gamblers here, we don't have fun when we don't win.. I don't know, maybe just me but I don't really feel good when I lose even if in the process I was enjoying it.
247  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Going all in and losing the bet on: April 05, 2024, 05:46:36 AM
Luck is not always with us in gambling, so when we gamble, if we lose money by gambling, of course in order to get back the lost money, usually people who are addicted to gambling become restless, how can they recover that money by gambling again and again. And they lose more than twice as much money as they lose gambling. Gambling is never right to make us addicted because in this way if gambling is seen they are wasting their cash and their family is harmed so one must be careful before gambling many families are destroyed due to this gambling so gambling becomes addiction.

I can't say for sure, but most times  the reason for increasing your stakes is because of greed and that has gotten lots of gamblers into  trouble. As a gambler you should know when to quit gambling no matter the wins at that moment. And one of the way to gamble responsibly is when you stay satisfied with whatever the result is, rather than looking for a way to increase your stake or borrow money to chase your losses. When you gamble responsibly, you'll enjoy the fun that comes from gambling.

248  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can I really hold onto my bitcoins in the future? on: April 04, 2024, 11:51:51 PM
You mentioned you were unemployed at the moment and helping out yourself and your family has become quite difficult. If you’re really in a fix and you’ve got some bitcoin holding, you could sell off some of your assets to get yourself together.
You’ve got to examine your finances; knowing if you could hold off on selling your bitcoins till later on this year. You mentioned you’ve got two months before you take a decision. You could always continue job hunting while holding onto your coins. If the situation doesn’t improve, then you could sell off some of your coins to help pay for yours and the needs of your family.
You are right here. Don’t be too greedy holding your bitcoin when your life is already at mess seeing you struggle a lot in your finances. Prioritize the needs of your family first, and since you still haven’t got a job, then don’t hesitate to sell your bitcoin. You can always reinvest in another time, but you can’t delay the basic needs of your family. So never doubt selling your bitcoin if it will save your problem at the moment.
249  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How To Make Money Trading, Even When You Are Wrong on: April 04, 2024, 08:53:20 PM
(...)
He is able to be in drawdown from 8 trades in a row, because he is not risking a large lot size per trade.

He knows the market will retrace back or close to the original first trade,

This is the power of risk management, as long as you are consistent with your style or way of trading, you will be profitable, you need to master and control your emotions, not chasing loss is very helpful for this kind of case.
Maintaining this in the long term will make you profitable.
Yes indeed, risk management can do a lot to make a trade successful. And if you do it more consistently everytime you trade, then most likely you will never end up losing most of your trades. But do not end up with overtrading, that’s another story to tell. And never fall everytime what YouTubers have to say, its only rare of them that are telling the reality about trading, majority are still hiding their real experiences with trading, or they’re not actually trading in real life, who knows?
250  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: April 04, 2024, 01:04:35 PM
Congrats to those who pick ROS and entrust them the handicap that's a sweet win as they managed to cover the spread and give the bettors decent amount of profits!

It turns out ROS was the easy play. Didn't expect they'll be able to cover the spread since the first half was quite close, I thought for awhile that Converge had figured out how to break the spell but they only played well in the first half but the 2nd half was full of struggle. We can already count them out this conference because currently they are 0-6.

Here's the scoring per quarter.

Quote
ROS   24   28   23   35   110
CON   24   23   16   27   90

It's easy to win by only betting against the Converge, and yes they are done, a team to stay away if we think of backing them.

Anyway, we have games tomorrow, I'm sure it's a match up that would give some great entertainment particularly the last game.
At 4:30 Pm, we have TNT vs Northport, while at 7:30 PM we have Ginebra vs SMB.

Betting odds are as follows.

TNT -3.5
SMB -4.5

Those are the two games, I only wrote the favorites as it's understandable though.
251  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 04, 2024, 11:55:49 AM
Speaking of individual statistics… I just read a crazy Wemby stat… It said that he already has more career blocks than over 86% of players in NBA history. Granted a lot of smaller position players don’t get a lot of blocks naturally, but I still thought it sounded incredibly impressive. I underestimated the kid.

Well, Wemby is a different kind of breed, and I guess LeBron recognised it the very first he saw the kid. That is the reason why LeBron called him Alien instead of a unicorn, because his size, ability, and talent is out of this world. Greatness recognizes greatness though.

Though honestly, I thought at one point that Chet was way better than Wemby, but I also had thoughts that Wemby may still have a lot of room to improve and once he started to dominate the league, he will for sure become more scarier than what everybody thought.
I think it's pretty normal for 7'4 tall and having that playing time. Anyway, given Wemby is really good. He just really needs help, like a great point guard who excels in passing, especially when inside. Also, I don't think Coach Pop is as good as before. Sometimes, it's also the coaching staff's fault why the Spurs often lose. They can destroy power teams the problem is they don't know how to maintain the momentum. I just hope that next season they find a way to get a great point guard and replace their coaching staff.
Coach Pop might not be replace as he brought a lot of success to the team, so most likely they will just wait for him to retire or give up the job. This team is still young, they aren't expected to be in the playoffs, but their experience this season is already enough for them to improve next season, and if they still fail, then I guess we can talk about determining what the problem is.

Wemby's first season, he'll win as the ROY and probably the defensive team award as his blocks average per game is just insane. I don't know if there's someone in the past that have achieve his average now on that area, so I guess he deserve that award too.
252  Economy / Speculation / Re: Your educated guess on BTC price at the end of 2024 on: April 03, 2024, 11:49:28 PM
In all honesty i'm unsure on the talk surrounding 79K GBP (100K USD / 92K EURO)
There are still eight months left in 2024. Every month that passes, there may be a spike or decline caused by an event that affects market activity.

Whatever the price, it can still happen every month after month that will pass this year.
Nothing is impossible when the time comes.
Price speculation to keep us enthusiastic about going month after month.
Bitcoin can still surprise us with unexpected price skyrocketing, but at the same time it can also give us a price that will frustrate us. That’s how unpredictable bitcoin is, that it’s actually hard for us to tell as to how far this  price will reach by the end of the year.

However, I will stick to a maximum of $100k. It can be impossible for some, but for people like who is highly enthusiastic, I believe bitcoin can definitely do it.
253  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: is bitcoin a good chance for the future on: April 03, 2024, 11:22:35 PM
I don't know much about bitcoin, and I also want to invest in bitcoin, but I want to ask whether bitcoin has good potential for the future? and what,, many people who lose investing in bitcoin.? and I want to know why people experience losses investing in bitcoin?

You know in fact in this era or generation currently, most people today around the world know that bitcoin is a major investment opportunity when it comes to long-term matters. If there are people or investors who have lost in Bitcoin investment, maybe they are the investors who had doubt and anxiety during the times when its value was sinking in the market.

But if you are really the long-investors, that means you are the kind of person who is ready to hold bitcoin for a really long time, let's say 5-10 years, because the others who lost or lost in less than 1 year or 2 years immediately panicked, which means they are not really long-term investors and are not deep into Bitcoin yet.
Bitcoin is mostly suitable as a long term investment, so if you want to invest, better to make sure that you are not using your money that you are intended to pay your bills or to buy your daily necessities, that way you can hold your bitcoin for long without being bothered when to make quick profits.

Also, do not anticipate that investing in bitcoin is always a win-win scenario. Learn to accept that there are also inevitable losses, especially if your goals are not met so you end up selling some of your coins to avoid losing too much.
254  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: This bitcoin bull market isn't over yet ! on: April 03, 2024, 10:59:48 PM
Yes, the bull market is not over yet because it is still in its early stages. Soon we will see a halving and there is still a possibility that the price will rise even higher.
As long as we still have time to buy bitcoin, we try to buy more bitcoin. At times like this, anything can happen and we still hope that Bitcoin ATH will come after this halving.
The bitcoin price has exceeded its last ATH, and we are still waiting for its new ATH, which is at an even higher price. We better prepare to wait for the new ATH again this year or next.
Completely agree! the bull market is still in its early stages. There was a recent dip but Bitcoin is regaining its momentum especially with the upcoming halving. I can hardly wait.
We are still starting to see a bull run in the market, despite of some slight correction that is somehow inevitable. However, as long as bitcoin price has not achieved its new all time high yet, then it’s still a good time to buy. DCA is the key, until you finally see your portfolio storing a good amount of bitcoin that you can finally take advantage when the real bull run is here. Just be more patient with your investment, as not all the time we will see bitcoin price consistently skyrocketing, price decline also happens at times.
255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has anyone here ever visited El Salvador and tried paying with bitcoin there? on: April 03, 2024, 10:32:45 PM
I am sure that many bitcoin enthusiasts are interested and curious to see the possible future of our world starting from El Salvador.

I personally have not been to El salvador myself and in my country, there’s almost no sign of bitcoin anywhere. From what I heard however is that stalls and other businesses in El Salvador are already using bitcoin as a payment method but not yet 100% of the country is bitcoin-friendly. Still, it’s nice to know that there is a step towards adaptation of bitcoin somewhere in the world.
El Salvador is probably the best suitable country if you want to spend your bitcoin freely as many merchants will surely accept bitcoin payment, and yes a lot of bitcoin enthusiasts definitely aim to travel El Salvador having its known as a Bitcoin City.

I have not been to El Salvador but I always heard positive news about bitcoin there. Maybe if given a chance I would also want to experience traveling into El Salvador not just to test how bitcoin adaption went there, but I want also to explore the city of bitcoin as well even just for a week.
256  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia on April 20 on: April 03, 2024, 07:56:12 AM
Pitbull against Matias for the IBF-WBA unification would be great. But just a few weeks ago Matias signed with Eddie Hearn as his promoter. So I guess it is much easier to make Haney-Matias now because they are in the same network and promotion. But honestly, I consider Pitbull as the weakest among the champions in the division although he is an improvement from the undeserving Rolly. Pitbull is giving up too much size and length and it will be a huge factor against the other champions who has the skills and also the power.
Same here, I thought Cruz is not the strongest among the champions, so I'm not confident he'll be able to win in a unification match.
Rolly is not even a great champion, so him losing to Cruz is not a surprise since per bookie line before the fight, Cruz was the heavy favorite.

According there https://www.tapology.com/fightcenter/bouts/839135-tszyu-vs-thurman-rolando-rolly-romero-vs-isaac-pitbull-cruz
Cruz has 84% chance of winning, and they are right.

Honestly, I want Ryan to win against Haney. He's got a punchers chance but that's it. As Haney said earlier, maybe him and Ryan are on the same level when they were kids but there's a huge gap at them moment.
I'm glad that Haney were able to acknowledge that they were on the same level with Ryan before, that's good enough for me to take chances and bet on the underdog.
257  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 03, 2024, 07:22:20 AM
NBA fanatics we have a new poll for the coach of the year award. Only 2 voted so far. I voted for the young Mark Daigneault. No one expected the Thunder to come on top this season. Not even in the top 5. And Mark is coaching a very young line-up including a rookie. His starter lead by a 25 year-old Shai and the others are 21 and 22? Mark definitely deserved it even if OKC drops to number 3 in the west because Denver is expected while Minnesota has 3 superstars. And in the east? Boston is star-studded while the Bucks also added the veteran superstar Damian Lillard.
Same here, he turned the young OKC like a championship team. They were at number 1 but now at 3 but the season is not yet over. Regardless on what rank they'll finished, it's very evident that the OKC has showed some consistency and have beat a lot of great teams. SGA has been having some injury problem that's why they dropped, but even without their main man, they still win games which showed how good he is as a coach.

This young OKC team might be the dark horse in the playoffs, and I don't see them getting an early exit like a first round exit.
258  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Wait for the right set-up on: April 02, 2024, 11:59:04 PM
( ...)
But waiting for the right set-up gives you an edge in the market, when you trade only when you sees an opportunity, you will mostly comes out profitable, as long as you knows the craft a little, but probing the market every now and then will only make you lose money, because trading is more of patience and knowledge.
This is very true because, even with how many trade losses you did as long as you have stopped the loss and are not eager to get into a new trade, you will be profitable.
Sometimes 1 perfect trade will able to get your losses back, so at the end, you end up profitable as long as you waited for the right set-up and not chasing losses.
I guess every trader who ends up trading successfully has always been trading waiting for the right set-up or the perfect timing to trade. That’s how powerful patience is. Unfortunately, not all traders are patient enough to wait for the right set-up as they prefer to prioritize chasing more profits and not skip even a single trade. Greed is what they chose to follow in trading rather than being patient and disciplined. No wonder how those novice traders end up losing and quitting trading in the end.
259  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Profiting from BTC: just luck? on: April 02, 2024, 11:19:22 PM
They treat investment as the same as gambling. Mostly this happens to those investors who have only heard that they should start investing in Bitcoin to earn money. Without knowing the risk and how they can really make money by investing. In the end, they will decide to sell their investment as they don't see any growth with the money they put as their initial investment.
If they treat their investment as gambling, we can not consider them as investors but they are actually speculators in this market only.

They have money and they spent it to buy Bitcoin but they don't plan to stay in this market for a long time, don't plan to hold their bitcoin too long. What they thought before spending money is profit. They believe buying bitcoin will help them to get profit, get rich, quickly. They believe they can exit the market quickly after entry because of positive speculation on uptrend.

Worse they can use leverages to maximize their profit but leverages bring bigger risk, not bigger profit.
Investment is a serious yet dangerous thing. If you invest without full knowledge and awareness on what you are investing, you might end up losing all your funds due to wrong mindset towards investing. That’s why it’s crucial to know more of your investment, rather than gambling with your investment. People who have greed to earn quick profits are not actually investing, but they are gambling instead since it’s impossible to gain profits if you are not wholeheartedly working on your investment to grow and prosper.
260  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you think merit is by chance or lengthy article? on: April 02, 2024, 10:30:12 PM
Anyways some users didn't attract to those long threads cause they will felt tired  to read all of those thread.

No one, including me, would get bored or tired of reading a post that contains helpful and constructive information and knowledge. So as you said, it's not about the length of a post being created but it is the quality it contains. Even very long posts are read with interest in many sections of the forum but only if they have some meaning and are contributing to the discussion. Someone would surely ignore a post being unnecessarily long while containing nothing useful and read-worthy.

It's a common misconception among newbies that making long posts earn you merits and it's because they see long posts from senior members getting a lot of merits but they fail to determine the fact that those posts are of high-quality and aren't some gibberish written to unnecessarily prolong the post.
Well, not all long posts are actually talking about trash since some are indeed useful and have high quality contents. It’s just that it’s common for us that once we start seeing long threads, eventually it gets tiring for us to read that we don’t want to start reading it anymore. Not realizing that long posts have detailed explanation that will contribute to the full understanding of the reader, without skipping important details that will totally help those who decide to read with patience.
