241  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 22, 2024, 06:46:51 AM
Minnesota definitely looking like a serious team, Suns is no joke, they have Beal, Booker and of course Durant and yet Minnesota is playing like crazy and got their win as well. I feel like we are talking about something that is a bit more risky at this point if we keep it going like this.

I believe that Wolves could beat Suns over 7 game series, maybe not even take it that further, they have a chance to even go as quick as sweeping them if they keep this up. Anthony Edwards definitely looks like there is a big talent right there, dude is playing like he is MJ at this point, he is looking a lot like him when he plays, and shows how MJ would be in modern era, give or take. I believe that it's going to be a great series.

ANT is doing crazy stuff in that game, even taunting KD several times but KD was just laughing it off. And with Towns back and Gobert maybe DPOY award again, the Wolves are a complete team now. I wouldn't put his name on the same breathe of MJ though, playoff MJ was different, and if my memory serves me right, he average 37 ppg during his prime in playoff. Let's see how KD and Book are going to respond to that game one, specially Book who is known to be a trash talker. But if the Wolves continue with this dominant fashion win, 4-1 or 4-2 against the Suns.

ANT had celebrated early, this series is far from over, there's still many games to be played, and even if they win the next game, they'll have to travel to Phoenix which is a different atmosphere. I like to see Booker respond and show his greatness, and Beal as well who have been silent so far, I like to see him explode as this is the best opportunity for him to win his first championship, of course together with Booker as he also hasn't won one, it was spoiled by the Bucks. One more day for rest and they'll be back in game 2, hopefully no blowout is gonna happen from either team.
242  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: April 22, 2024, 06:06:09 AM
I agree, it doesn't happen a lot in the PBA. But if it's in the grand finals, you'd see a lot of them happen because sometimes we think that they're scripted.
Though, it's really how the game works for those teams that are part of the grand finals. Sometimes they stumble and sometimes it's a tie so, it's nothing new that we see these upsets only mostly in the finals.
There's no exciting finals to watch than the Ginebra being in the court. If you'll compare the NBA finals last time wih SMB vs Magnolia, it's not as popular as when Ginebra is in the Finals because they can fill the arena and even take the game to the biggest arena in our country just to accomodate the fans.
It's always been them and that's why some fans are happy to see if it's not Ginebra ending in the grand finals. Although, fan base wise, they've got a lot of it but even with their games, its' no longer the same that the whole venue is full. This time, it's not that full at all and fans have lost interest due to the topics like this. They don't want to see the same teams ending in the finals because it's sort of boring when we want all teams to be competitive.
Some maybe happy but majority of the fans are rooting for Ginebra, so this team are not in the finals, they'll not spend their money to watch the game live.  Filling up the Philippine Arena would result to a bigger income for the PBA, they needed that considering how much they are paying on their teams that are full of star players, I'm talking about the teams own by a giant company.

Last time no Ginebra, so this time the league can't afford to not put Ginebra in the Finals, they should be here and will probably battle with SMB which has a very dominant game last night and still able to maintain their undefeate record.
243  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is age a limitation in Bitcoin on: April 21, 2024, 09:59:39 PM
This is one of the remarkable aspects of Bitcoin, its accessibility regardless of age. This is very different from traditional banking systems that have age restrictions and various processes. The decentralized nature of Bitcoin empowers individuals of all ages to participate in the digital economy without barriers, and the privacy aspect is another significant benefit, giving users control over finances without constant scrutiny. Users should be educated about the risks and responsibilities associated with managing wallets, such as security and private key management.
Well, that is the one advantage of Bitcoin as there is no need to be of legal age before we can have this and even creating a wallet is not necessary. The thing we just need is money and proper education because committing a single mistake is found to be regretful knowing that, especially sending and when it is hacked never have the chance to get back again. There is no refund at our fault, unlike the banks where we still have the chance.
Even if we are as young as 10 years old as long as we can manage our funds right, there is no problem.
Yes, couldn’t agree more. Bitcoin offers a lot of advantages more than traditional banking or any other traditional investments. Knowledge and sufficient amount of funds are only the keys and you’ll certainly have a good start for your bitcoin investment.

Another thing also is that through bitcoin, you are creating your own bank even at a young age. That is a good preparation for your future or for your retirement soon. With bitcoin, there’s no age limits but you also have to gain higher amount of knowledge and experience so you can manage your bitcoin well.
244  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will Happen to crypto market after Bitcoin halving?? on: April 21, 2024, 08:56:11 PM
If the price of Bitcoin occurs a large dump, we may see $50,000 or $40,000, and the price is now around $65,000. Therefore, even if the price dump occurs, traders will not lose much and may compensate for their loss before the end of the world.
Beginners invest when the price of Bitcoin increases every day, and then we will have reached more than $120,000 and emptying from there may take us back to $60,000, and the price will not be able to restore the old levels in the coming years, so now is not a bad time to buy, but if the price continues to increase On a daily basis, then time becomes bad.
Yes we have seen many bitcoin record history in the past where the next ATH was several times the price of the previous ATH.  As 2017 ATH was $20k and next ATH was $68k+ so accordingly current ATH should be more than $120k. But we haven't seen it yet. However, since the Halving countdown has just ended, we may now see some positive effects on the price of Bitcoin.  Even though the price of Bitcoin has not pumped much since the halving, we have not seen the market red. so it may still be a good time to invest in Bitcoin to enjoy the next opportunity
I don’t think we will see anytime soon btc price pumping because as far as I know, the effect of bitcoin halving will only be seen most likely 6 months after halving. But at least we aren’t seeing a red market also, that’s actually a good sign that the bullish market is still happening. So we don’t have to pressure ourselves right now, just be more patient while trying to accumulate more bitcoin prior to bull run. And if you’re not into buying right now, then at least hold tight your coins and take part in selling when bull run comes.
245  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to be more visible in the forum as a beginner on: April 21, 2024, 07:59:01 PM
They can post naturally for their interest in any board but if they fortunately choose to start with boards where people discuss highly educational, technical and helpful, they will have more chances to get merit.
I believe a beginner should not focus on merits at all at least for a few weeks. If I'm not wrong then those who are new on this forum may not know the merit based system, however the ones who pretend to be new may have knowledge regarding the merit based system.

In my eyes, a newbie should focus more on learning then on gaining merits or recognition. Overtime when they learn things properly and apply that knowledge when they create posts, then they automatically get merits for their posts.
You’re right. Beginners should focus more on maximizing their knowledge first through patiently reading and exploring the different boards in the forum. I know it takes time but it’s certainly worth all the reading and understanding at first, because as a beginner, you have to establish your foundation at first before trying to set another goal. Now, when you think you are knowledgeable and quite experienced on the different boards, I believe it will be easier then for you to attract merits because of your high knowledge to create meaningful and high quality posts regardless of any boards in the forum.
246  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: "Jontay Porter receives lifetime ban from NBA for violating gambling rules" on: April 21, 2024, 07:02:00 AM
Thoughts in general?
These kind of Activity are deprecable and most of times also linked with criminale activities.
But in general have a strong impact to sport and gambling industry.
Without a serious sanction, even one so radical, people involved will never stop. I can't see other valid solution....
It could be link to criminal activities but what he is doing is not a criminal activity. Porter is probably not the only one doing this but he is one of the few that got caught. He is not a star player, so probably he thought he can increase his income if he will be betting since he know some information a typical bettors don't. I like that the NBA are very strict with implementing their rules, a lifetime ban maybe too much as that would kill the job of a player but its impact might not be good if they'll serve a light punishment. I hope this would not happen again and I'm sure it will send a message for player+gambler who are silently breaking the rules.

A former NBA ref spent time in prison for betting on games, not sure how this isn’t under criminal investigation atm, from what I can see. Doesn’t mean it won’t be, however.

Seems most did not read much in to this case or understand what he did …which was bet AGAINST his own team, as well as got caught purposely not playing to alter the outcome of games and more. This is quite different than simply betting the ML for your own team to win. Had he done that, likely would have been a temp ban.

Yall should watch the clsssic basketball movie Blue Chips. Great movie about college basketball players taking bribes, point shaving, game fixing etc.  A fictional story based on many true events. (Features a young Shaq and Penny Hardaway and other basketball legends). Also has one of the funniest scenes in movie history (Bobby Knight esk) https://youtu.be/5oAIVuFPUdQ?si=h1ni5DPojB3gu8Xo

Is it the popular Tim Donaghy who spent some time in jail due to game fixing crime?

This guy IIRC admitted that he is betting on games he is officiating, and as a referee, he has a big influence to change the outcome of the game unlike a player who plays that aren't really getting a lot of minutes. Also, I believe Porter didn't admit of the case but the investigation revealed he had committed a violation, so for me, it's enough to put him into lifetime ban in the NBA.
247  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 21, 2024, 06:15:36 AM
Either put Jokic in early foul trouble or lock him down to limit him on creating a play for his teammates.

Locking him down, it's not gonna happen as no one in the roster of the Lakers can do that, if they'll double him, well maybe possible but that would mean resulting to more open shooters for the Nuggets, so they'll not do that kind of strategy.

Maybe putting him in foul trouble would help, I don't know how they'll do that but they need to be smart, and maybe the refs would be able to help them in that matter, you know, anything can happen as I'm not seeing the Lakers will be swept again this time.

As on this game, Jokic finished with 32 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 assists, and take note, "0" turnovers, that's how good he is in taking care of the ball.
248  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin way forward - Towards $100k or $50k on: April 20, 2024, 09:59:10 PM
still hanging at 60k and above mate so there is a hard time believing if we will drop to 50k or heading to 100k but I think neither of the two will come because I think 100k will be coming after halving , and 50k is also a possibilities to come.
lets assume that 60-70k is the strong hold for 2024 and changes will come in the next year.
The $60K to $70K range is indeed the current price range because currently the price of Bitcoin is still very close to $65K in the market with the halving conditions which have finished today. This means that the range you say could still happen again for Bitcoin even though I'm not thinking about reaching $100K this year even though that could also happen for Bitcoin. Because on the one hand, we must not forget about price corrections which may still occur in Bitcoin this year.
In general, bitcoin price can be both pumping or dumping after the halving event. So these two predictions might be really possible considering that bitcoin itself is highly unpredictable.

However, based on my own observation in the market, it's most likely to rise up again after halving, and may head into entering $75k to $80k in few months from now. I believe this would be the upcoming price trend for bitcoin so far, unless if massive price correction will suddenly hit the market and ruin all our positive speculations.
249  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why has bitcoin prices not increased just after halving ? on: April 20, 2024, 04:14:35 PM
I suggested some friends to invest before and they are blaming me for the suggestion. I told them to wait for final effect as it can take some days for effect on prices but they are impatient.
Did you not tell them about the (short term) risks also? Someone that is not patient can not hold bitcoin. Know that it can take months before the price will start to increase to the extent that we can call it bull run.
That’s one of the reasons why I don’t want to suggest when it comes to potential investments. People will eventually put the blame on you when everything they see is not already working based on their plan. And even if you tell them that bitcoin has its short term risks, that won’t change the fact that they’re almost losing their investment. Patience is the key, if they can’t be patient then they should not be here in the first place.

Meanwhile, bitcoin price is still not climbing at the moment, but if you check out history about bitcoin halving, it will only goes up probably couple of months after the event. So never expect too much for bitcoin these days.
250  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Educative help needed on: April 20, 2024, 03:23:00 PM
Greetings everyone, I'm new in this forum someone introduced me and he didn't give me guidelines on how this forum works the rules and regulations, I sincerely need help in knowing about this forum, there rules and regulations to avoid defaulting without even knowing it. I'll really appreciate if someone can provide me with helpful information, tools and links that'll help me navigate me my way around the forum with ease.

In order not to remain a newbie on this forum (banned newbie) forever, first of all study the forum rules. I found two violations of the rules in your posts, one of them is plagiarism. If this continues, I'm afraid it will end in a ban.
Do your own diligence to study the forum and how it works, it takes time but it’s certainly worth all the time and efforts to read. This is the best way so you won’t stay as a newbie, and so that you will be aware of the forum rules and avoid all those violations that may put your account into danger and complete banning.

Now, be aware that plagiarism is a big violation in the forum. If you have skipped it at first, I guess by now your account is already being monitored. Be careful not to break rules the next time you post in the forum, otherwise your stay here might be shortened and I don’t want you to experience like that.

252  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: April 20, 2024, 12:04:38 PM
NLEX had 50 attempts and 11 of these went in, that's a very low precentage. And since their total attempts is 88, that means they focus so much on the 3 point area which is a very bad strategy.

This team is playing like the Warriors, they forgot that the Phoenix Fuelmasters team are good with their defense, and they make them experience how good they are. 77 points only, that's too low for a team who have an explosive Bollick, but since he strugled, the whole team struggled too.

Upset does not happen a lot in the PBA, unless it's just a regular season. In the playoffs or especially in the Finals, it shoudl be the best of the best in order for them to sell their tickets, otherwise, people will not be watching as they already know the outcome.

253  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What people some people don't know about trading on: April 19, 2024, 07:52:34 PM
I have seen where people say trading is a quick to get money.

Then maybe people that doesn’t know about trading and have never traded before are the once that will think trading is a get rich quick scheme. Some people just see videos of how to trade on YouTube and they think trading is so easy just the way they see it on YouTube, some people are always deceived by all those signal providers on social media, they make trading looks so easy, and they make people think they can easily get rich from trading without losing money. But to be honest real traders know that trading is not easy, and it’s not a get rich quick scheme.

Experience will make them realize the truth in trading, that it’s not all about getting rich quick but it’s certainly more on mastery and good market analysis so you will end up trading successfully. Those who are not getting real experience with trading are those that mostly believe that what’s influencers are saying are certainly true and reliable, not realizing that these influencers are just feeding them wrong information so they will bite those ideas and leave these influencers in profits while leaving these beginner traders at loss due to wrong mindset with trading.
254  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin’s bull run coming to an end? on: April 19, 2024, 07:29:55 PM
The price fell by 3.78% today,Current price $61748.But it’s still a price I can’t afford
If you think that bitcoin price will eventually return to $30k or $40k, I guess you might be waiting for nothing like that as bitcoin might want to stay only at the range of $60k and above. So just try to change your speculation about bitcoin price. And if you really are determined to start investing, it’s not necessarily that you buy the whole bitcoin but start with a small portion of it, something that you can easily afford to lose if ever. Your small investment will eventually grow in time, as long as you consistently hold despite of sudden crash and market correction.
255  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: April 19, 2024, 03:08:34 AM
Yeah, and that's the same reason why coach Tim bring him in to represent our country his good hassle play and bring tough defense gives the main cores to rest with a quality minutes,  I like Newsome in a way that he can blend his game to anyone but just like what you mentioned,  they are not composed of players who can compete during the all Filipino conference unlike with SMC teams which more likely will again meet in the finals,  unless upset  will take place..
Upset does not happen a lot in the PBA, unless it's just a regular season. In the playoffs or especially in the Finals, it shoudl be the best of the best in order for them to sell their tickets, otherwise, people will not be watching as they already know the outcome.

SMB vs Ginebra, great match up in the Finals especially if the series is long. I think they really need to create some script in order to prolong the series to make it more fun. Other conference where it's fun to watch is if they'll invite some foreign teams, just like before, hopefully that will happen again as fans do really love that kind of competition.
256  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 19, 2024, 02:10:50 AM
I love this confidence from Anthony Edwards and I agree with him. He’s 100% the best young talent in the NBA right now and if he can keep his head on straight and continue trying to get better, I don’t see how anyone could be better.

"I'll be the best player in the NBA in about two to three years."

- Anthony Edwards

he can be if he stay healthy, but sorry for him because as long as Jokic and Doncic are their which could average an easy double double, Edwards could not win an MVP even if he had so many impressive highlights. Jordan on his time, he doesn't  average like Luka or Jokic but clearly he was the best player.

his average this season.

PTS    TRB   AST
25.9   5.4  5.1

Luka
33.9   9.2  9.8

Jokic
26.4  12.4 9.0

not even close TBH.
257  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC go back to $40K - $30K range before a bigger rally? on: April 18, 2024, 08:59:20 PM
As said before, Bitcoins won’t fall below 50k usd. The reason is pretty simple. When the price will go down a bit, all the traders will buy it back and then it will increase the demand to accumulate the coins. Moreover we know that Bitcoins follow the policy of supply and demand and we also know that they are limited in numbers. Hence, when the demand increases, the price will go up, and 40k range is hard to achieved then.
With the current price correction, I guess I’m now more convinced that bitcoin might totally touch $50k again but certainly not lower than that. And I think that won’t be a problem since we all know it will eventually recover again right after a price drop. But for those who’ll be able to take advantage with the current price drop, I believe they will gain higher potentials for profits when bitcoin price starts to surge high and skyrocket again.
258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has BTC really become more attractive than gold? on: April 18, 2024, 08:22:39 PM
I haven't excluded gold from my investment portfolio so far, but bitcoin is the asset I most hope to accumulate. Gold has risen a few percent over the past year and I have also benefited from it, but of course gold does not provide higher returns than bitcoin despite its price volatility which is very risky.

Gold and bitcoin are great investment assets, however so far I have only really focused on bitcoin and would prefer to stop buying more gold for now. I will go back to buying gold once I convert my profits from bitcoin.
Both are actually good and highly profitable assets. But as time goes, gold only gets a slight increase in its own value while bitcoin’s value is seen skyrocketing most of the time, no wonder why it’s current price has certainly reached another level. The reason why majority of the investors these days that are more inclined to technology and innovation focused more on accumulating bitcoin rather than gold.
259  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Always do your own research (DYR) on: April 17, 2024, 09:45:52 PM
No reason I wouldn’t blame the crypto newbie though; you never can tell what he’s been told or in what context the crypto idea was been sold to him or her. Something you can tell for sure is that, he or she doesn’t know how the crypto market works, didn’t play by the rules of investing only with spare funds (funds you can afford to lose) and he or she really is in crypto for the profit and have no room for losses.

Once you are about this perspectives to the cryptocurrency industry, you could easily be swept away by your ideas of making profits. I’m every business, there is a profit and loss situation.

Meanwhile, this investor haven’t lost nothing. Just a depreciation in the value of his or her asset which is normal due to volatility and could always change in his or her favor. The more reason why he or she should do nothing and just hodl.

the more reason why DYOR is very important and even with that, always speak to new investors on the possibility of loosing to the market when they sell at a low and the importance of hodling.
With this type of scenario, I can say that both have become irresponsible on their part. If you want to introduce crypto into your friend or colleague, be honest to them about how the market works and how risky a certain investment is, and not that you will lure him with all the positivity that bitcoin can give.

Now on the investor’s part, he should take extensive research first prior to investing and not just trust everything what the other person is saying. Because in the end, when your investment does not work and not end up according to your plan, you will more likely blame the person that have encouraged you to invest, when in the first place you should do your role as well educating yourself before you take other people’s decision.
260  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: April 15, 2024, 01:53:12 PM
I think MPBL is trying to compete with the PBA in terms of salary as it has been reported (not sure if its true) that Gregzilla wants to come back home and will be playing in MPBL, his salary was 800k per month, MPBL team tries to match it.
I don't know if MPBL can afford that, they have a salary cap for sure. Before that was a news and the numbers that came in is P50k, so P800k is too much for a team that is not more popular than the PBA. These are just rumors, if Gregzilla leave the PBA,  how come he'll choose to play the MPBL when the salary is lower, and for sure 800k is too much for a player although tall that is not anymore on his prime.
It's in the news but I don't know if the amount involve is really true.

Manila Stars list Greg Slaughter as reserve player for upcoming MPBL season

Quote
Manila’s move to list Slaughter in the roster is allowed in the MPBL even as the former Barangay Ginebra and NorthPort cager is still playing for Rizing Zephyr Fukuoka in the B2 League of Japan.

With Slaughter in the line-up, Manila can field Slaughter any time during the season once his contract expires with Fukuoka.

maybe they are just trying to hype it, but he should be receiving a good amount of salary to leave his team overseas, if that's the case then MBPL has now become a very competitive league that could compete with the PBA.
