When you run publicly traded companie(s), one being a social media war zone (Elon stated just that, well before knowing he’d buy it, and mentioned he expected to get in to battles when he logged in..he’s a very verbal /controversial troll., by design. He knows how to suck people in to his web of attention seeking) then you’re more than fair game to be criticized, analyzed and critiqued up and down, left and right, daily. As one should be when they’re no longer in full control of the companies and there’s thousands to millions of other owners that bank on you doing well, literally. You don’t go public otherwise.

Also no, I can’t afford a Tesla. I live in a box on the streets of Narnia. Signature campaign is what keeps me fed, also how I bought a wardrobe to get here. Could be worse.
242  Economy / Reputation / Re: AI posts and my feedback on the borovichok account on: April 07, 2024, 05:58:55 AM
“AI” is advanced programming that collects authored data, mixes it up and spits it back out. That is technically completely other peoples work. If AGI existed , real AI imo, then we’d not be able to detect it as it would be legitimately a new authored post most likely far better than most could dream of writing. I see the shit in “legit” mainstream news and media outlets being used and feel it’s insanely unethical. (My 2 as a reformed convict dipshit, so I don’t have much room to talk ).

If keys are generated by makers, then they’d be smart to not release the public string of keys list(s), which also goes against conventional thinking around here, but after speaking with a prominent maker who doesn’t release theirs, I completely understand and see why, now. Just one more potential attack point.

I'm curious what reason a maker could give for this other than their own laziness or lack of foresight.  The ETFs and large exchanges have even started posting their addresses for proof of reserves.  In my opinion, there is no reason at all why a maker wouldn't release their list of addresses unless A) they didn't think of it or B) they have something to hide.  Not thinking about it is fine, but we can't start pushing the narrative that makers are doing their customers a favor by not publishing their list of addresses.  That's nonsense.  I actually think the opposite.  If a maker didn't think about this beforehand, what else didn't they think about?  If they say there is potential danger with publishing the list, are they hiding something, or they just don't understand Bitcoin?  Either way, red flag.

I was with you on this full stance at one point, but then I started to listen to why makers don’t. Tied in with experience in the space and I simply disagree it’s an incorrect narrative to “promote”, Bitcoin is not private, despite every single one of us wishing it was. It can’t be “fully”, anyhow. as it would not become what it has (same reason I love Monero but have always known it’s upside is very limited.thanks to our gov overlords).but as Andreas taught me many years ago, don’t talk about your bitcoin, don’t share that you own any, and don’t give the government and hackers an opportunity to take advantage in any way, shape or form. It’s not technically private but try and be as private about it as possible. The publishing of public keys opens up an avenue for scammers in a big way. I have never wanted to say this as scammers are always reading our threads, but the Casascius UberBills is a directory of endless scamming opportunity. Since Cas uses first bits , like most makers , on the hologram outside..that’s enough to make it ridiculously easy to fake “ FUNDED” Cas coins today. I could easily do it. Easily, and they’d look very good too. Prob fool a good amount of collectors here at first or second glance, if not entirely.. It’s easy and cheap to copy the coins, it’s easy and cheap to copy the holograms as now some fakes are pretty identical, then after those two things I go over to Uber bills and just look for funded addresses, first bits provided nice and neat, use those behind the holo window and there ya go. Casascius is just one example of many. Also,I really don’t want anyone knowing my business, following my addresses, where they lead, etc ..and you’re just providing that potential opportunity. Sure there’s some ways “around” this, kind of.

Yogg and Cold Keys provided their address lists,he still scammed us all. Was just all part of his “look at me and my transparency ruse”.  Now one could argue the benefits, which there are some. Like for example we were able to see MrHodl not having funded some 20%+ of his coins, which isn’t a good look at all, especially how he “handled” that discovery..But that goes back to the whole should makers generate keys or not “debate”. No, they shouldn’t.  DIY is the way to go. A great example of how to - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5454998.msg62349407#msg62349407

Doesn’t mean the hobby should be over. But some aspects should be.
245  Economy / Economics / Re: What did elon do wrong in Twitter on: April 06, 2024, 01:58:59 AM
I really hope so many will wake up and see Elon for who he really is.  I cringe when people call him the real life Tony Stark (Iron Man).  The guys never made a hamburger, let alone a car or a rocket or a payment system..not shit.  Is he incredibly good at being a salesmen..one the all time greatest..but I think his ego talked him in to buying twitter, which was not a good investment, the place is still an utter cesspool of bullshit, hatred, racism, bigotry etc etc.  He is not the right guy to run that company. I just do not get the appeal in the man one tiny bit.
Elon Musk is the best businessman and he knows how to do business. He has struggled a lot in life and has taken many challenges head-on, in which case he made a mistake by buying Twitter, we might be wrong if we say that. There must be some reasons behind his purchase of Twitter with huge amount of money which he is not revealing till now. Before starting a new business one has to invest a lot of money in that business and there are many losses in the beginning of the business. If the traders can accept the loss and hold on to their business, then later they achieve success in that business. Since he bought Twitter with this huge amount of money, one day he will surely reveal the real purpose of buying Twitter.
You would really be having that kind of boggled mind on why people has always that something that has to say on whatever the decisions made by Elon, as if they do really knows on how to handle up a business or company on which whenever they've seen that those steps and actions been made out is against into their interest then they would really be directly be criticizing it on which it isnt really just that
they would really be shutting up their mouths and let those owners handle their own business. They are smarter than you and its their company in the first place and its none of your business
on what they would gonna do into their own company.

It is really just that simple on which if you dont really like on how they do act out then you could really always stop on using their service as simple as that.
Lots of bashes and criticisms but still ending up on using it. lol

Holy shit I nearly had a brain aneurism decoding your post.  First off, lots of conjecture in your post, and lots of false statements. I think. Still not 100% sure what the heck I just ..read..I guess you could call it. I went to college and got a degree in business management, so I’ve got a slight understanding of how to run a business or how one is properly ran. I also know that Elon is absolutely an incredible businessman, but that doesn’t mean he runs his businesses the most efficient way and that he hasn’t done a shit job in many aspects, of tye businesses he’s been a part of , or owns (but never created on his own accord..space x is probably the best example of HIS company /business but it wouldn’t have been possible if not for major government grants and he doesn’t create shit..he just oversees people who oversee the people creating things. He’s got a lot of people fooled in to thinking he’s some real life Tony Stark, which couldn’t be further from reality. I also don’t use or support any business he owns. I don’t have a twitter / X account, I’d never buy a Tesla as half of them are shit, I wouldn’t buy is solar panels as they are ripe with issues etc etc.

Elon is one of history’s greatest businessmen, fact. Largely propped up on his fame and ability to fool people who only see things from a one perspective level. Bill Gates is an unbelievable businessman too..did he create Microsoft ? Did he create a false perception of whom he really is as a person? Dig a bit deeper my friend.
246  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Physical items, coins etc.. || Issue related question ??! on: April 05, 2024, 05:40:21 PM
Echoing some OGs above ..Anything can be replicated pretty much to a T when it comes to physical coins and holograms. . Holograms being “safe-ish” use to be something we told ourselves for years (many of us, anyhow). They aren’t. LesbianCow provided a good example of how most can be penetrated some way some how (that’s what she said?) This is why DIY coins are the only safe future of new products in this space, period. Many don’t like this fact, but.. it is a fact. Otherwise problems will continue to exist..we are seeing plenty of this still. I could really elaborate but I don’t want to give scammers ideas (because those pieces of human filth are always watching these threads, instead of getting a fn honest job).

If keys are generated by makers, then they’d be smart to not release the public string of keys list(s), which also goes against conventional thinking around here, but after speaking with a prominent maker who doesn’t release theirs, I completely understand and see why, now. Edit :just an btw/FYI ..I would feel pretty good getting a graded ICG coin as they are (unless something has changed) verified by MinerJones who is the most knowledgeable person for all things physical crypto on the planet. Everyone is rushing to NGC and PCGS to get their shiny coins slabbed now that they are doing so (after hating on these coins for years like little immature children ) and yes they are the two most popular and trusted, but not for this space. 247  Economy / Economics / Re: Church Business on: April 04, 2024, 05:56:26 PM
I personally am not a very big fan of churches getting tax exemptions.  Not that it matters, or I guess it might matter in this context, but I'm an agnostic atheist, and I'm just not sure that any of these "god's" actually exist.  I mean there is no hard actual proof, so why do they get tax exemptions?

While I think some churches certainly have a level of legitimacy, I certainly don't think churches/cults like Scientology do, and it's INSANE to me that they get tax exceptions.  Make no sense.
248  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How safe is saving screenshots of useful information and BTC transactions? on: April 04, 2024, 05:53:17 PM
I would say that saving screen shots of anything financially that isn't on some sort of encrypted drive is likely not a very good idea.  I mean if someone really wanted to hack you, then this could help lead them to knowing you've got crypto holdings, and help them get that much closer to potentially being able to steal coins from you.  Now this is certainly not guarantee, I just think it would be smart to not save this type of stuff on your PC.
249  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is playing poker online better than offline? on: April 04, 2024, 05:48:54 PM
The best part of playing poker online is that games happens all the time. Anyone is able to start and finish session whenever gambler wants, and in any place with even slow internet connection. With offline, I think gambler must catch a moment. For example offline poker isnt that much popular in our local casinos. Tournaments happen once a week, every Saturday-Sunday. If gambler has a desire to gamble Wednesday during lunch, not only he will find an opponent, but the casino most likely be empty.

Yeah that would be the one huge advantage of playing poker online is that you can spark up a game at any point in time.  I often will log in to one of my online casino accounts to play a quick few hands of texas hold'em, which is a good time waster.

I however will always prefer playing in person as the game feels more "real" to me, as the art of bluffing and things of that nature come more "alive", so to speak.
250  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can family members help a gambling addict? on: April 04, 2024, 05:42:53 PM
Your family can be one of the most positive and helpful "forces" in ones life and family can absolutely make a difference if someone has a really bad gambling addiction.  I would sort of compare it to being addicted to drugs, family members can certainly help, do things such as hold interventions etc..but something to keep in mind, often times people don't want to be helped, or wont truly be able to be helped until the "hit rock bottom".  I think that applies for gambling like it does with a drug addiction.  Just something to keep in mind.
251  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Telegram Casinos (2) on: April 04, 2024, 05:39:35 PM
I personally don't think that I would ever use a Telegram casino.  I do know and understand that Telegram has been used for things of this nature, as I've used it as an "online marketplace" before, and it was a legitimate place to buy and sell certain things, but there was also a high level of trust that went in to it that I'd rather not have taken on.  Personally I'm sticking to dedicated websites and in person casinos.
252  Economy / Economics / Re: The benefits of risk taking on: April 03, 2024, 02:33:08 PM
This is something that I often think about. As a financial advisor, speaking about risk taking is really and every day thing. I often speak about taking on just the right level of “risk taking”. It certainly never has to be “all or nothing”, but taking SOME risks, can be a very prudent way about going in to your investing plan. Sure, big risks can pay off big time, but they can also big time hack fire, so take just the right amount for you and your situation.
253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DO NOT BRAG ABOUT YOUR BITCOIN on: April 03, 2024, 02:29:10 PM
I created a topic discussing this a few months ago where I stressed the importance of not even speaking about your bitcoin or cryptocurrency holdings what so ever. It’s no one else’s business but your own how much you own or have of anything, therefore, keep it close to the vest, so to speak. Ones finances are private and should remain that way.
254  Other / Off-topic / Re: How can we help beginners not to get addicted on: April 03, 2024, 02:24:40 PM
I think just as you mention here, the best way is to educate people before they go in and do something that they may regret. I think this goes for most things in lif that might become a habit. If people done know the potential harms or risks before they do something, they are going to be a lot more prone to making mistakes if they hadent known otherwise.
255  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: April 03, 2024, 02:17:47 PM
News update.

It appears that the Baltimore Ravens is very annoyed on their loss against the Chiefs in the AFC conference championship hehehe. They traded for a player who will certainly help Lamar if he is on the peak of his menstrual cycle hehe. There cannot be an explanation why he did not perform similar to many of the games in the regular season and the post season games before the AFC championship game.

However, Derrick Henry does not appear to be very happy for the trade in Baltimore.

Derrick Henry is bound for Baltimore, just as the two-time rushing champion expected this offseason. However, Henry admits that it could've been an ideal situation for him to stay home -- not in Tennessee, but rather in Dallas.

Source https://www.nfl.com/news/derrick-henry-says-signing-with-cowboys-would-ve-been-perfect-situation-but-they-never-reached-out

I think any time that a player is traded that they always have teams that they wish they could have gone to, or be playing for, and often times that includes teams that are close to their hometowns or thier favorite teams growing up or whatever.  Derrick Henry knows that he's going to a very good team where he could play a very big role in potentially bringing them a championship, so I kind of doubt he's "upset" about it, but we shall see.
256  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is lack of proof a problem for you or not? on: April 03, 2024, 02:05:53 PM
I think it’s always something to be concerned about about in some way shape or form. I think if you weren’t concerned about these types of things than there might be something a bit wrong with one’s approach to online gambling. But the main thing for me is proven experience/time. A lot of these casinos have been operating for many years with very few complaints and to me that speaks volumes.
257  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Are there some charges to use Bitcoin ATMs ? on: April 01, 2024, 04:05:27 AM
I'm not sure that I have ever seen a bitcoin ATM where the charges were at least somewhat reasonable.  I love the concept of bitcoin ATMs, and I think they could still play a pivotal role for bitcoin and it's adoption/adoption rate.  But those smart enough know not to use it, and those who do use them, then find out how much they are paying aren't likely to ever go back to one or recommend them.  Would be smart to somehow lower the fees..not sure if possible.
258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good or Bad - Blackrock Buying BTC on: April 01, 2024, 04:02:55 AM
I think Blackrock entering in to the space has been inevitable, something that I believe brings both good and somewhat not so good things to the bitcoin space.  One the "good" front, being the largest fund manager on the planet, they've got a whole lot of clients with a whole lot of cash on hand, which as we can already see is going in to bitcoin a furious rate.  I think these ETFs were a major milestone in bitcoins evolution.
259  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Testnet and it's Functionality on: April 01, 2024, 03:58:48 AM
Testnet functions is almost the same as mainnet when it comes to the consensus rules. This lets people write software and test it in a no stakes environment but is very close to the real production environment. However, that means that the behavior of the people using testnet is vastly different from people using mainnet. This makes things that are dependent on people's behavior, such as fee behavior, game theory things, etc. cannot be tested.

Ultimately, bigger blocks (or whatever) is not particularly technically hard to execute, so whether it can actually be done is not a question that needs to be answered. What needs to be answered is how people may transact differently, whether they choose to run a node, whether they prune their node, etc. These all depend on the exact conditions of mainnet, and the fact that real money is on the line, so cannot be accurately tested on testnet.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated!
