241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a medium for donations on: April 16, 2024, 02:59:07 AM
I've run several charity auctions via this forum where bitcoin was used as the primary donation method.  Now to be fair, of the three different auctions I've ran on the site here, it was to two different charity organizations.  One accepted bitcoin as is, and the other I did have to sell in order to swap that bitcoin in to USD to be able to donate to the charity.

But, here's an example of one of the charities I ran here on the forum - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3248727.msg33830334#msg33830334
242  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul to Fight Mike Tyson in Live Netflix Boxing Event - July 20 on: April 16, 2024, 02:54:49 AM
Exhibition matches would provably became more marketable nowadays since there's a lot of famous personalities reading up the hype and interest of people that's why for sure we can see a lot of this to happen. It may really laughable for Jake but in reality this is a big achievement for him either he win or lose since he is facing the legend and also he get a lot of money for this fight so there's no lose for him since he will create a lot of noise for this and for sure this will benefit him in long term. Also I thought I heard about they make this fight to be at pro level but anyways whatever set up they fight for sure both of them are the winners.
Jake is a great showman, he knows how to attract attention to his fights, and he added the Tyson Legend to this combustible mixture, so this fight can have a lot of views. Yesterday I came across a video where Jake and Mike are preparing for a fight, listen, it’s like I was watching excerpts from a movie, everything is so well heated up that I would even be interested in seeing how this fight could end. By the way, Tyson delivered such blows during training that I even believed that he could knock out Jake.

But we need to remember that this is just a show, for Jake for sure, but for Mike I don’t know, but I think that this is also an opportunity. Jake, of course, is acting very ostentatiously, but I’m almost sure that he likes it all, and for Tyson it’s just an opportunity to earn big money.

do you really think that mike will seriously fight against jake, I think it's just a show and for the money the rest is just silly sponsorships of products and other things now I don't know but if tyson really fights for paul it will be the end haha

I really think he's willing to fight him, but the one thing I'm not sure of is if its rigged or not.  I think at least some of these Paul brother fights are rigged. It's just hard to believe in some circumstances, despite the fact that they tend to not fight pro boxers, and guys whom are over the hill.

Tyson certainly looks a lot better/tougher than Logan, and I hope they do fight, free and fairly and Tyson kicks the living shit out of him.  One can only dream.
243  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is gambling to you, a fanfare or potential financial havoc? on: April 16, 2024, 02:51:40 AM
Lol I think gambling to most people is meant to be a way to make money, and that to me is there in why people tend to lose so much money.  I love to gamble, I do all the time, but I do in a way that never puts me in any sort of financial situation that I don't feel comfortable being in.  I know that the likelihood of me coming out on top every year is slim.  Though the way I bet, responsibly, I do come out a little on top most years, but just enough to make sure its not wrecking "financial havoc" on my life.  I certainly feel for those that are addicted.
244  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 16, 2024, 02:49:20 AM
I see my Chicago Bulls are in the play in game versus the Atlanta Hawks come Wednesday (april 17th).  I once again, like year after year, have absolutely nothing but disappointment and shame when it comes to this.  The Bulls are constantly on the line for making the playoffs, with absolutely ZERO chance at making any kind of legitimate run at it.  The Bulls are in purgatory, and nearing hell.
245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gold vs bitcoin in a WWIII scenario on: April 14, 2024, 11:48:33 PM
I think that it may not be correct to say that bitcoin does not help hedge against the “cost” of inflation. It may actually do just that, and has for some time. Now is it as reliable a hedge as gold? Absolutely not.

I think bitcoin would fall in price like most things if there were to be a WW3. But it just depends on how bad things get overall. Let’s hope we never find this out.
246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin the HERO we never knew we needed on: April 13, 2024, 06:08:01 PM
When I discovered bitcoin I was earlier on in my career which is a career set in the world of finance.  I was absolutely blown away by the prospects of bitcoin, the breakthrough technologies that it offered etc.  During this time, I had really begun to learn how corrupt the big corporate banks really were (JP Morgan Chase,BOA, Wells Fargo etc).   I was sold almost instantly and nearly a decade later I still feel just the same. Big banks are scum.  We need to keep fighting against them.
247  Economy / Economics / Re: The current situation in the country Nigeria. on: April 13, 2024, 06:05:35 PM
The hardship in Nigeria increase day by day the massive are suffering. The poor old men and women. That doesn't have access to bank are suffering. Just imagine a pregnant woman died in a hospital just because there was no cash the network was bad for transfer. Where are we going to. Our people are suffering they are dying our leaders should do something about it to me I don't think we have leaders anymore. The people we call our leaders have already failed us. Now it's time for election let's vote wisely let not suffer for 8 years again

I appreciate you bringing up this subject as it's very important people are reminded of and never forget the kind of atrocities that are going around different nations across the globe that don't happen in most other places.

I've read/been told that some of Africa's poor nations are being heavily controlled by China and Russia in the "background".  I'm curious of everyone's thoughts around that?
248  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin = Proof of Scam ? on: April 13, 2024, 06:02:06 PM
The halving of bitcoin is indeed a dirty little trick hiding in the source code.

The bitcoin white paper misleads:

"The steady addition of a constant of amount of new coins..."

Point being:

White paper does not mention halving !

Lets say even if it didn't mention it in the White Paper, how is it a "dirty little trick" and how does that change much of anything?  There are quite a  lot of changes that have been made to bitcoin and bitcoins blockchain code that have gone in to effect ever since Satoshi left the project entirely.  Does that make all changes made a scam?  I think you're grasping at straws here and seemingly just trying to find any way to bash bitcoin.

250  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stopping the curse of losing streak? on: April 13, 2024, 05:54:25 PM
I’ve been on losing streak for almost 3 weeks of gambling, not daily but in random basis for over 3 weeks. Mostly I play only live blackjack using small bankroll around 50$ to 100$  . No matter what I do, slow play or whatever betting strategy makes me lose since dealer card is always so good around 90% of my game.

What I did is I stop gambling for a week and decided to try different game so that my mind will be fresh and positive. I play slot games and manage to win huge amount that is enough to recover my 3 weeks losses and gain a decent profit. I’m just using small bet on slot games when I hit the huge jackpot.

In conclusion, if you are already having a rough time on playing same game over and over despite you have a good experience on it before. Trying new games to you and taking break will help you to snap out of your losing streak because chasing losses usually make us trap on our losses.

In your case, how do you approach when you are on losing streak so badly on specific game. Does changing game works for you?

I'm not so sure what you did here was anything more than being lucky.  You were having a tough go at it with the game that you play and enjoy most, but things weren't working out of late, so you try something else and win enough to make up for your past 3 weeks of gambling, I'm not so sure that was anything more than just luck.  Had you lost playing slots like you mention, then what?
251  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Health Benefits of Gambling on: April 13, 2024, 05:51:59 PM
Gambling is only beneficial depending on the individual practice or application of it. Someone who isn't Gambling in moderate environment, the benefits will turn to be disaster.

Before it becomes beneficial we must understand the underlying factor why people gamble, as far as I know 80% gamble for gain not really to achieve those health benefits and most locals ain't concerrn with it either. The consequences outlay the benefits, as other activities can also give one same benefit.

Gamble responsibly, moderation over everything then you can obtain a health balance. And once one begin to consider that gambling can be beneficial and a source of relive this might lead to addiction as he will constantly seek to gamble just to relieve himself, this is a two edge sword.

You will only experience such mentioned health benefits if you know how to contain your gambling activities. But if not, I don't think you can appreciate what gambling has to offer because for sure you will financial stress for one. If you are into gambling because you are trying to hit some winnings because you have little to no more money in your pocket, I can say, you are just subjecting yourself to trouble.

This is well said, and I agree with it completely.  Gambling for someone like myself (and of course many others) is definitely a health benefit.  It sounds silly to say that, but I do derive a good amount of entertainment from gambling, which makes me happy, fills a gap of being bored, gives me something to look forward to and be interested in etc.  But mentioned above, it has to be the right type of gambling and the right type of situation.  If losing makes you upset to the point where it brings great stress on you, or the potential for great stress..I think we are talking about a different situation entirely.

253  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Gambling A Hobby? on: April 11, 2024, 09:01:20 PM
For me personally I'm not sure that I could call gambling a "hobby", so to speak, but the different forms of gambling, could be considered.  For example I don't equate the act of gambling a hobby, but I would say playing poker or roulette, or betting on sports game, that I would consider a hobby.  Those actually include "doing something".  Gambling itself is more of a broad action.
254  Economy / Economics / Re: Does sound money have to be Private? on: April 11, 2024, 08:58:46 PM
I think it would be nice if "sound money" was private and that it could remain that way, but unfortunately due to governments and government control, or the need for, there's just no way and money could be purely private the would become a currency that everyone adopts.  This is why I've always said that Monero has no chance to be able to become wide spread.
255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Upon the death of a bitcoin user. on: April 11, 2024, 08:55:01 PM
I have come to stay in this community and thought of one thing which has been bothering me.
Relating from our traditional banks where a bank customer dies and all his assets remains unclaimed by his relatives. I was once told that there was a bank manager who withdrew funds from there customer dormant accounts hopefully that the owners are dead as those account has been dormant for years without any form of activity on the account, it happens when no relative knows about the account for them to lay claims.
Similarly to bitcoin what happens in the event of my dismissal since no relative knows about my investment. It doesn't really make sense if my family can't enjoy my wealth. Will it be lost or is it good to entrust someone incase I'm no longer there?

No bank manager in any legitimate country or company will simply withdraw the funds  because someone passes away and they aren't claimed. There are procedures for this, and they will tend to simply be put in some sort of escrow account that will for a long while.  The lesson here is everyone should have a will established with clear and proper instruction dictating where all assets are to go and how to access them.
256  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Always check the deposit address on: April 11, 2024, 08:49:43 PM
There's few things that are more gut wrenching then sending coins to an incorrect address. I've done it at least twice now, that I can think of, and it is brutal.  It's really easy to just think that you've correctly copied an address and to just quickly past or type it in, but it's worth every second of double checking and making sure you don't cost yourself.
257  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do some people hide to gamble on: April 11, 2024, 08:43:50 PM
There have been times in my life where I had to hide certain things, and there's been times in my life where I felt hiding those things was justified, and at times not so much.  If you're a responsible gambler who's hiding their gambling from their spouse or loved ones because they simply don't like it, I would suggest one take a look at their situation and double check that they want to be in it.  To me, I shouldn't have to hide my gambling, lack of belief in a higher being and things of that nature just to appease someone.
258  Economy / Economics / Re: Irresponsible spenders consumes their retirement resources and losses values. on: April 10, 2024, 07:43:07 PM
While most of us thinks that there are only addicted gamblers who are reckless spenders, I want to let us know too that there are other reckless spenders who are even Irresponsible to their responsibilities and bringing about devalues to their influential personalities.

While in a sit out with friends last night, there was this honourable looking man who whose table was served with lot of expressive wines and edibles alongside with his friends too, While he is sitted very close to me, he was bragging and was even louder than the MC with the microphone saying... Life is sweet and we all have just one life so lets enjoy it to the fullest because while we are strong and healthy today, some are dead while some are in hospital.
Meanwhile we that are here do not know about our tomorrow so... Let's catch up the cruise of today because we are not sure of our tomorrow.
So he called in the waiter with more order placed.
As time goes but he was having incoming calls that he refused to answer and at last the call came I noticed he stored the number with My Wife and then he shutdown the phone to have his peace and concentrate on his enjoyment.

I am not sure of my instincts towards this man but with experiences from people of such nature, they are ones who lavishes their money on pleasures and does not have plans for their futures, they ends up regreting after much expenses when they runs out of funds. Then, they feels remorseful to had lavished their money on unnecessary expenditures and feels they had learnt their lessions but when they refills their pockets again they lost their responsible minds.
Meanwhile... They are usually the kind of people that budgets their incomes on unproductive and Irresponsible expenditures rather than spending on their families or even outdoors responsible spendings.

These are usually the set of persons that says... Had I know and once upon a time during their old ages after they must have spent their retirement resource at their youthful ages and end up being disregarded in the family and looses their influential values around the societies.

This is really sort of an odd story or I guess kind of hard to understand what you mean by telling this story but I guess if I think I know what you're saying, or if I'm picking it up correctly..I see this all the time.  So many people blow money early in retirement and don't know how to make it last.  I think it's one of the most common occurrences I come across in the world of finance.
259  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: in future are you hoping to see some countries in Africa legalis bitcoin. on: April 10, 2024, 07:40:14 PM
I wish that anyone living in any country with a government that can control whether bitcoin is legal or not would be able to break free and override that countries ruler or rulers.  The beautiful thing about bitcoin is that it can't  be shut down, no matter what.  There are always going to be decentralized exchanges as well as OTC (over the counter) sales, which eliminate the need for an exchange.   I know that many nation is many parts of war torn Africa could really benefit.
260  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Celebrity Poker Games: Publicity Stunt or Genuine Passion? on: April 10, 2024, 07:38:05 PM
I think it's probably a mix of both. I use to watch a heck of a lot of poker or Texas hold'em when it really blew up back in the early 2000's and you would see it on television all the time.  I think back then celebs would get in truly because they enjoyed playing as the game was so popular. Now, I certainly think it's a mix of truly enjoying it as well as a mix of celebs whom are getting paid big money to entice others to play.
