2401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it me or is everyone turning retarded and against eachother? on: June 20, 2011, 08:45:37 PM
Its the usual uninformed people ranting and such. New users who don't understand things fully, etc...

I find most of it nonsensical, the predictions of bitcoin's decline, exchanges being boycotted, protest against rollbacks, demands for more regulation of something that can't be regulated.

Through the noise there is some signal. The senior members who know the future is more than a few days, its months and years and decades. After having been through a few financial events myself, from early crashes in the market (before the May flash-crash, mind you) to the CDO debacle, I understand how the pattern works out.

If these events cause people to lose faith and fall out, I'm not worried - I have plenty of uses for the coins they'll leave behind Smiley

rofl...

Please refrain from commenting about things you clearly know nothing about.

If only lardycake could learn from his own 'wisdom'.
2403  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Connecting a few dots on: June 20, 2011, 08:37:05 PM

I salute you.  Most people can't pack this many errors into such a small post.

Good point, kjj. I have never seen anyone use generation variance as 'proof' of a hack attempt.

Guess it is like a kid shoving a sandwich into a DVD player, just because we wouldn't consider it - doesn't mean they won't try Smiley
2404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why does mt gox care about one user on: June 20, 2011, 08:29:22 PM
Maybe bitbot should go to some other forum to be relevant, because 'his' logic here sure isn't.

If you could possibly think over the dull roar your empty skull contains, you'd realize out in the 'big world' exchanges bust trades that are erroneous all the time. Don't be all maudlin over it, just understand that is how it works.

Or just keep posting rants like a toothless beggar, up to you.
2405  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TRADEHILL COMPROMISED - HACKER ATTACK IMMINENT on: June 20, 2011, 08:23:23 PM
Shit just got really troll-rific.

Fixed that for you.
2406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The sky is falling! The sky is falling! on: June 20, 2011, 08:19:02 PM
This would make a great sub-forum category Smiley

Hell, think of how clean main discussion would be if it existed.
2407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TradeHill - Status update - resuming service / some accounts disabled on: June 20, 2011, 08:16:49 PM
Invalid bouncing email address claims that Tradehill compromised.

Fixed that for you.
2408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TRADEHILL COMPROMISED - HACKER ATTACK IMMINENT on: June 20, 2011, 08:09:02 PM
Intelligent people verify.

Idiots post without verifying.
2409  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who would rather see Mt. Gox completely dissolved? on: June 20, 2011, 07:20:07 PM
Letting the trades stand would be just like letting the blockchain fork due to an attack, and not letting the proper one replace it. Major exchanges do this, would your crusade extend to the NYSE and NASDAQ? In the end, the market will decide if Mt.Gox survives or not. I think they will, and bitcoin along with them.
2410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin network is in serious danger - 8.2 petaflop/s by “K Computer” on: June 20, 2011, 07:14:20 PM

Yeah cause trolling is serious business to people besides us basement dwellers...

Be afraid everyone.

Fixed that for you.
2411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TradeHill - Who we are on: June 20, 2011, 06:30:25 PM
I can't even get tradehill's website to pull up.

Works for me. Perhaps try again?
2412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Connecting a few dots on: June 20, 2011, 06:28:53 PM
Okay, this is like nailing jello to a wall trying to get an answer out of you, but here's one more try.

Do you think Mt.Gox will fail:

A) Yes

B) No

Do you think the BTC/USD rate will be at 5 or lower 24 hours after Mt.Gox re-opens?

A) Yes

B) No

Time is ticking away, let us know...
2413  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Heavy transaction fee for old account: solution of deflationary spiral on: June 20, 2011, 06:21:44 PM
Economists are useless gasbags.

One of the few jobs where being wrong is not only compensated, but expected.

2414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Connecting a few dots on: June 20, 2011, 06:19:51 PM
I'm not betting, this is an apocalyptic hypothesis, but still sustainable by the available data.
And no, I'll NOT be happy if I'm right. Being a pessimistic I'm used to be happy when I'm wrong.

Just by looking at the monitor, I can count 10 blocks solved (maybe more, they're hiding under the trade dots) during the attack. This means the blockchain was on fire with so many transactions going on. And the blockchain doesn't move because there was a trade at MtGox, it moves because someone was inputing a huge load of transactions to it.

Okay, so tell us what your stance is. (Before Mt.Gox opens.)
2415  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wild trading at tradehill on: June 20, 2011, 06:18:38 PM
Has TradeHill suspend trading?

I just checked here (and wondered why you didn't):

https://www.tradehill.com/MarketData/

Current Bid/Offer:

11.00 / 11.99

Last:

11.80

2416  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Connecting a few dots on: June 20, 2011, 06:07:28 PM
Actually, by the previous trend I would believe it's price to be around 5 by now.
Still, if I'm right, not even by creating a "fractional-reserve" MtGox will be able to stand up again.

So, yes or no?

Your stance is Mt.Gox fails, and the price stays at 5.00 BTC/USD?

Really, go on, we want this on the record before they re-open.
2417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wild trading at tradehill on: June 20, 2011, 05:56:26 PM
1.) Newbie posts (not just this one) about market prices fluctuating.

2.) Seasoned veterans nod and wonder what all the excitement is about.

3.) Repeat until forum database explodes.
2418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So does mtgox have the money they advertise as having because of the rollback? on: June 20, 2011, 05:54:14 PM
Seems like we could have a secondary market betting on how many idiotic Mt.Gox threads are created.

Quick, someone post a bid/offer!

lol
2419  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tradehill -- it's 10:00 EST, where are ya? on: June 20, 2011, 03:53:52 PM
Current bid/offer: 14.00/14.25

Bubbles don't trade in double-digits. Smiley

Glad they are open, should soothe some of the newbie fears. Though I can't help 'the end of bitcoin' trolls Smiley
2420  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: I'd like to see -- Mining and Minecraft Combined on: June 20, 2011, 03:40:37 PM
I was SO hoping you'd say "I can only come to one conclusion - Yes, I'm high as a fucking kite, and am loving it."

It is a sad and pathetic world, isn't it? If you disagree, fine. Post something that elaborates your dislike for the idea, not some off-hand response that took a few seconds to type.

But I suppose it is easier to destroy than to create.
