Don't you think that New Zealand is being under-rated here? I agree that Australia is in good form at this point (after their win against West Indies recently), and New Zealand lost the matches against Pakistan. On top of that, Australia is having the home advantage. But there are a few things that may go in favor of New Zealand. First of all, Australia is struggling with top order batting. Elevation of Cameroon Green to the opener position hasn't clicked yet. And their spin bowling looks really weak, which should allow New Zealand to score freely during the middle overs. Newzealands odd is high because Australia is playing on their homeground & are defending champions. Australia also whitewashed the Kiwis in the recent bilateral ODI series. I reckon that might be the reason. In today's match the team batting first will have a little upper edge. |

Sikander Raza is the only reason why Zimbabwe won today's match. What an all-rounder this guy is, he not only contributes through bat but also through the ball. If he is not playing then Zimbabwe wouldn't win a single match.
Ireland really played well today they were spot on with the ball and their commitment on the field was absolutely amazing. Paul Stirling after long time has shown why he is a worst nightmare for the opponent bowlers. Brandon King contribution today went unnoticed as his team lost the match. After watching Westindies playing today I felt they had no plan in place to counter the Irish team.

West Indies vs Ireland
Almost everyone has a curiosity about today's match between West Indies and Ireland. West Indies has a direct route to the second round of the T20 World Cup 2022. A win against Ireland and the West Indies will just do that. Incidentally, this is also the path of each of the four teams in the group. Zimbabwe, Ireland, West Indies and Scotland won one of the two games they played. The winning team in the second game will qualify for the playoffs. In the 20th century England was a rising economy but things have gotten sour after COVID-19 and the Russian war. The conservative party doesn't have a clue on how to revive the economy and this means dark days ahead for the citizens.

UAE VS Namibia
What an unsuccessful chase by Namibia! They were 63/7 in 13 overs from that stage finishing at 141 is a great accomplishment. They might have lost today's match but the have gained experience in handling such situation. All thanks to David Wiese, if this he would have stayed on the pitch till the end then the result would have been different today.
UAE were all in control in today's match they batted well and bowled much better. There commitment on the field was top of line. Due to their win a couple of teams can now stay in this tournament.

Sri Lanka have won the toss and decided to bat first. In the batting powerplay Sri Lanka have scored 36 runs without losing wickets. This is a good start, as there is no wicket fall. This will help them develop momentum and go for big shots at the right time.
Srilanka was far away from a good start. They have already lost 2 wickets and now they are struggling to get singles. The fielding and bowling of the Netherlands have been outstanding. The pitch is working very well for spinners which will be a relief for Srilankan spinners. A target of 140 runs would be a good score for the Srilankan side. 51/2 in the 9 over does not look easy for Srilanka to reach 140. |

The qualifier stage of the T20 world cup looks extremely messy. Not even one out of the total 8 teams have managed to perform consistently. Namibia and Scotland were exceptional in their wins against Sri Lanka and West Indies respectively, but they went down against Netherlands and Ireland in their respective second match. So far all the teams have played two matches each, and among them only Netherlands has remained unbeaten. And even they had a very close match against the United Arab Emirates.
Situation is not messy but unexpected. Nobody thought that Scotland or Namibia would perform exceptionally well! I was so much confused when I saw two known teams getting defeated by an unknown team. Regardless of who won or lost this T20WC would be unpredictable as everything that we expected is going on the opposite direction. |

What a shit show by Zimbabwe! This defeat proves that they were over confident and ignored all the warnings. I am also pretty much sure that this Zimbabwe team is completely dependent on one single guy, Sikandar Raza.
One of the primary reason that I can quote is that because of him they were able to restrict West Indies as he was the only bowler to get 3 important wickets when required.
The top batters of Zimbabwe were drooling with over confidence if you do not believe me just check the two wickets that were taken by Joseph in the early overs. What made them think it is proven by their humiliating defeat today.
I think it is a lot to do with the in experience of the Zimbabwe team but it is still a young team which needs to work a lot and not be dependent on one single guy. I also think Sikander Raza might get an entry in one of IPL franchise as an all rounder.

Like the previous match, the performance of the West Indies batsmen today is not satisfactory. West Indies team won the toss and decided to bat. I thought maybe they were able to fix their batting weaknesses. But at the end of 19 overs, they collected 137 runs after losing 6 wickets. I don't think the pitch is bowling friendly. Even then we are not seeing good performances from the West Indies batsmen. It is very difficult to win with a target of less than 150 on such a pitch. However, if the West Indies bowlers can stop Sikandar Raza, they have a chance to win.
West Indies managed to get to a total of 153/7 in 20 overs. Zimbabwe bowlers conceded too many runs in the last 2-3 overs. West Indies batsmen scored 16 runs from the 20th over. And this may decide the outcome of the match. But Zimbabwe started quite well, with Regis Chakabva and Wessly Madhevere scoring 18 runs in the first over, which was bowled by Kyle Mayers. Now after 2 overs, Zimbabwe are at 29/0. According to ESPN Cricinfo, at this point Zimbabwe is having a higher probability of winning this match (ZIM - 78%, WI - 22%). Zimbabwe has lost couple of wickets therefore the probability of them winning this match might have changed. Why do I feel that the top order of Zimbabwe batters are taking Westindies bowlers for granted. The tow batters who lost their wickets did not understand the ball bowled by Joseph. Sikander Raza is on the pitch now and if he starts to go on then Westindies will lose this match. |

Westindies are in big trouble now they have lost 6 wickets out of which 3 were in the same over of Sikander Raza. They have managed to score only 106 runs in 15 overs and I feel they might not be able to reach 150 if they lose any more wickets. Very disappointed with West Indies performance today. They started very well but are unable to handle Sikandar Raza's bowling.

Note: just when everything was going well for Scotland, they lost the crucial wicket of Matthew Cross. Curtis Campher took the wicket, in his very first ball of this match. At this point, the match seems to be posed 50-50. Nevertheless as soon as they posted a 177 target for Ireland, I went right in and put up a bet for that. As you said even 140++ would have been a challenging mission but you never really know how pressure will be for the favorites, sometimes that's all that's needed to change form all together. Scotland seems set for a big total. After 14 overs, they are 112/2. In the next 6 overs, if they can get another 60 runs, then they will end up with 170 plus. And given the brittle condition of Irish batting lineup, I don't think that they will be able to chase it down. Irish bowlers, apart from Josh Little and Mark Adair have been disappointing. Barry McCarthy, for example conceded 40 runs from his 3 overs. And it was surprising to see the best bowler so far for Ireland (Curtis Campher) being given just one over till now.
In both of its match Scotland was able to make good runs. Anything above 160 runs in Australia pitch with the wet weather condition is really good. In its first match Scotland scored 160 runs and now it have made 176 runs. Ireland failed to bring in the bowlers at the right time. Campher got only two overs and in that he managed to take 2 wickets (Berrington 37runs, Cross 28runs) breaking partnership. Ireland should have given more opportunity to Campher. Whenever he was introduced he got a wicket and also broke the partnership. It would no be an easy job for Ireland to chase the target set by Scotland. It is sad to see a good upcoming team like Ireland struggling to make right decision in today's match. |

Pakistan is much safer now than before. At the same time, the Pakistani government provides maximum security to the cricketers. And so ICC should not change the venue due to security issues. But India will definitely want the World Cup not to be held in Pakistan. Because of India's political conflict with Pakistan. Of course, the Indian board will want to play in the UAE due to security issues. Because India has played a lot on the pitches of UAE and India is very familiar with the pitches of these venues. So BCCI will try their best to hold the World Cup in UAE.
I am not sure what inspired you to write such a brief description on how safe Pakistan is now? I may add that 1/3 of the country is still in water. Pakistan cannot sustain without help from abroad which is not happening considering China shutting down many projects and then Biden statement. Pakistan is in a mess now and will untill US does something to bail out it with financial assistance I don't think it will be an easy way to become a normal country. The whole world knows what is happening in Afghanistan borders and what is happening in SWAT valley. Recently there was an attack on a school bus. If the security forces are not able to safeguard their own citizens, how will they safeguard a foreign contingent? I am not a a geo political analysist but that is the truth. The fight for the Super 12 group is looking nice.
2 associates nations beating 2 previous world champions convincingly tell you the story. When it comes to associate nations, I would prefer such upsets any day in WC and it would be amazing if these guys continue this kind of performance in the next group as well and potentially beat more teams, especially BIG-3 (Ind+Aus+Eng), they could use some humbling.
And most importantly in this process, I hope ICC wakes up and starts funding em more at least for LOIs
Big 3 are not that weak! These new teams are not at all consistent and lack experience. As an example just go through the highlights of Ireland with Zimbabwe. They started well but fail to capatalize it. Next was Namibia with Netherlands, this was the same team that gave a humiliating defeat to Srilanka. Big 3s are far far away from these new teams. They need more time, bilateral, trilateral game and experience to defeat them. I still feel there are a bunch of players in these new teams who can get more experience and expertise if they get selected in franchise league which I think would happen after the T20WC. |

Netherlands have won the match by 5 wickets and 3 balls left. The match was predicted to be a win for Netherlands, during the mid overs consecutive wicket fall happened. This gave little hope to Namibia to try their best. At the end it was Bas de Leede won it for Netherlands. There is good contribution from the openers Singh and O'Dowd. With this win Netherlands have increased its chances of reaching the Super 12. Namibia should've scored atleast 150 runs.
Namibia tried their level best to defend such a small target untill last over they were able to restrict the Netherlands batter with one and two runs but they couldn't hold it longer. Great effort by both the teams and excellent commitment by both the teams on the field. The next match is currently being played between Srilankan & UAE and I am expecting Srilankan to win this match. UAE won the toss and choose to bowl first. All Srilanka now need to don is to set a target of more that 150 runs for UAE to chase. |

The thing is that the world we live in right now is fast-paced. Everyone wants everything to finish faster. People are way busier now compared to 20, or 30 years back. So people enjoy T20 more as it is more action-packed in a smaller amount of time which is more enjoyable than test cricket, as test cricket is a very slow-paced format which has become backdated. So, it can be said that T20 is the future now.
It's not just that the world has become fast paced. The ICC has also not been very successful in making test cricket more interesting to the audiences. They thought that the World test championship would do the trick, but so far it has been a failure. The main issue remains as such. A lot of matches end up in meaningless draws, even after 5 days of play. The fans get dejected as a result. Flat tracks in sub-continent nations and increased incidents of rain interruptions as a result of climate change further exacerbate this situation. A 5 days match cannot become appealing for cricket lovers in an era where T20 format dominates. You simply cannot spend an entire day watching cricket unless you have nothing to do on that day. I do not think ICC is in fault in any ways. It just that 5 days cricket is no longer the only option left for cricket fan. I also believe that this format will stay for sometime now and gradually will fade away. |

Namibia V Netherlands
After a great performance against Sri Lanka in the first match, the Namibia team will play against the Netherlands today. But they are not able to bat well in today's match. la Cock and Jan Nichol returned to the dressing room by zero runs. At the end of 15 overs, Namibia's collection is only 81/4. I don't think victory is possible given a target of 140.
Bad start for Namibia. A target of 121 runs can be easily chased. Netherland were able to chase in their last match 111 runs but this time they need to chase 10 extra runs which I think will be difficult considering the bowling performance of Namibia against Srilanka where they were able to defeat Srilanka by 55 runs. |

Sikander Raza is an asset for Zimbabwe but the problem with this all rounder is that he is not always consistent. If he hadn't performed today then Zimbabwe wouldn't have score the highest Target in T20WC history. Ireland started well but they lost their momentum because of Sikander Raza. Today's match is another classic case of psychological pressure faced by an inexperienced team.

Watched the match from the very first ball to the end. With batting Scotland gave its best. Even when there is wicket fall, George Munsey stood strong and kept scoring. In between few players Berrington, McLeod, Greaves made little runs that adds to the total. When the second innings started it looked to be an easy win for West Indies, but no mistake coming out of Scotland fielders helped them win the match by 42 runs. No catch drops took place during the second innings which is really impressive. Big disappointment for the West Indies and all the matches that have got over is against the odds.
What a disappointing start for the WI team? They were literally struggling while facing the Scottish bowlers. Getting defeated by 42 runs shows how good the scotland bowlers bowled today. The target was not that tough to chase but Scotland were good in both field and bowling today. The next match between Ireland and Zimbabwe has already started and Zimbabwe has already lost a wicket with no score on the board. |
