2401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How long do you reckon it will take until trading resumes? on: June 22, 2011, 03:48:36 AM
TradeHill, Virwox, BitcoinMarket, btcex, Bitcoin7, etc;there are plenty! You don't need to wait for MtGox.

You're forgetting that about 70 - 80% of the *liquid* bitcoin economy is tied up at Mt. Gox.

Sure, some people are putting MORE cash in, or depositing NEWLY MINTED bitcoins in other exchanges -- but the real "crash" and/or "recovery" can't happen until the Big Boy re-opens. There is so much cash there it hurts.

People were really fucking stupid to put every single penny they had in 1 website. It angers me beyond any reason, that the biggest destabilizer to the bitcoin, is human stupidity.
2402  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hacking of Mt. Gox all over the news on: June 22, 2011, 03:45:51 AM
I have a forum http://tweetforum.com/bitcoin, so I am def not against the forum platform. But why is it that people make a forum in 5-minutes, without thinking of design/functionality/ or any real content to offer to anyone. Why the hell would anyone want to go to your forum? Ask yourself that...
2403  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tradehill not working? on: June 22, 2011, 03:43:49 AM
Hey Jered,

Why are you guys operating this site out of Chile?

Not everyone is in Chile but a most of us are.
We were here and in business working on other projects before Bitcoin got started.
2 Chileans and a large group of Americans (US) so far.
I convinced a few programmer and finance friends to look in to the potential and they loved it.

It's a nice place to live, business and taxes are really simple compared to the US etc
Plus we're able to afford an office on the beach!

Depending on the public reaction to Bitcoin and its future legality we may be forced to move unfortunately.
Chile and the US are really close so if the US decides to make Bitcoin an enemy then Chile will likely follow suit.

There are clear advantages to operating out of Chile, but in my Opinion you guys aren't doing enough to show how you're different from other exchangers. I want to hear more about your security/policy's/regulations, so that people can feel safe putting their hard earned money into a whole new exchanger. Considering what just happened with MTGOX anything is possible. Now I am not saying here that your system is insecure, I am just saying that we need to hear more about it.
2404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Next difficulty in approx 3 days?? 1,240,416 on: June 22, 2011, 03:38:35 AM
You can predict it. Just look at how many blocks to go, and divide by the current blocks/hour rate.  That will give you a pretty accurate idea.  Right now it's looking like Friday morning.

It will be another doozy.

How exciting!!!! Less BTC, more competition, less trading, less credibility, lower exchange rate!? What could go wrong?

Smiley

What does it take to make the difficulty lower?
It will never get lower.

Why less credibility if its harder to get?  If history has proven anything it is that people usually want what they CAN'T get. And who the hell said the exchange rate will be lower? It might dip for a little bit after MTGOX comes back in, but in 2 weeks everything will be back to normal with bitcoins trading at about $30 a coin.
2405  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins = Friendster. What will be the Digital equivalent of Facebook? on: June 22, 2011, 03:35:39 AM
Someone needs to debut a peer to peer exchange service ASAP to shut up all the doubters.
That would be nice... But a system like that would have to be very complex.
2406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins = Friendster. What will be the Digital equivalent of Facebook? on: June 22, 2011, 03:33:10 AM
Cause your so important, and EVERYONE should listen to you.  Roll Eyes
2407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SHA-256 (fixed: maybe) hacked, man gets away with 7 blocks in 10 minutes on: June 22, 2011, 03:30:55 AM
Why is it every morons wet dream for this currency to fail? Is it because you can't afford mining equipment? Is it because you can't afford to buy any coins? Is it that your TO LAZY AND WON'T WORK FOR THE CURRENCY SO YOU MIGHT AS WELL TRY TO DESTROY IT?
2408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: your age on: June 21, 2011, 05:07:55 PM
I'm 43. belonging to the side of the bell curve makes me happy cause it implies I'm still receptable to new ideas.

Started with computers at 12, in those days it was considered an obscure interest.
You must be a master now with all that expeirence lol.
Kinda wanting to be like you in a way...
2409  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: your age on: June 21, 2011, 05:06:50 PM
Biggest percentage here is 28 not surprising to me. I am 21 but all my friends think I act like a 50 year old.
2410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Protest against new moderation rules on: June 21, 2011, 03:59:28 PM
Don't try to paint me as the bad guy here sir.

'Bad guy' ?

Not at all, I am not someone who supports this kind of moderation, so I am 'against' these rules (at least in their current form / as listed).

I am all for you being able post as you see fit, I am just pointing out that if you do support these rules then you are not following them.

I'm sorry this post once again is pure RAT SHIT, and on it's way to being upgraded to cat piss.

Again, I think my posts have been entirely reasonable.
Your's have but you know this entire thread was made with ill-intentions -filled with spite- and I won't reply again, since our discussion (has been reasonable) only legitimizes this hit job. See you in another thread. In a perfect world I would agree with your ideology of freedom and self expression. But unfortunately we live in a greedy planet, filled with fear, and psychological set backs, and then cherry coated by laziness. If you let that run wild in a public forum of this magnitued, your going to get 90% spam posts.
2411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Protest against new moderation rules on: June 21, 2011, 03:49:05 PM
Your post, along with this thread, is pure rat shit. It shouldn't be in the top of the forum, and people should just let it die here..
If there was something I said in my post that was wrong please point it out and I will try and clarify my point.

But as it stands my point remains, the very rules you are so vehemently defending you, yourself, are in breach of.
Don't try to paint me as the bad guy here sir. You guys are the ones sitting here arguing against basic rules that the majority of this community agree with. Go look at my posts, I am here to have serious discussions about the future of this beautiful currency. Not debate with you or anyone else about whether or not people should be able to post

SELL SELL SELL
SELL SELL SELL
SELL SELL SELL
BUY BUY BUY
BUY BUY BUY
BUY BUY BUY

50X a day. I'm sorry this post once again is pure RAT SHIT, and on it's way to being upgraded to cat piss.

I'm going to start calling all the troll's and chicken little's in these forums: little glen's. They deserve the title of Americas biggest clown.

How would it help if an exchange closed 8 hours a day? Others would still continue trading at other exchanges, so it's not really that you'd have peace of mind.

I think the structured, regulated, exchange would maybe set a new temporary standard.

It sounds like someone needs to structure and regulate their portfolio to be a little better diversified.
I am not a bitcoin investor, I actually have $0 invested in bitcoin exchanging. I am just telling you some of the valid concerns that have come up when I talk to older people who love the idea, but are scared to death of the market. That would be a temporary stabilizer, other than Ebay going all out, and fully embracing Bitcoin trading on their platform, and payment processor(paypal), I highly doubt that will happen anytime soon .
2415  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Protest against new moderation rules on: June 21, 2011, 03:29:46 PM
I am in broad agreement with 'unemployed'.

The world would be way worse if people like you ran it. Look outside your window. The only thing keeping another person/neanderthal from jumping into your house and killing you for your belongings is this society that you seem to despise so much. Once again I ask all you ULTRA-Libertines to LOOK OUT SIDE THE WINDOW.

Vegetta, oddly for someone who is (presumably) supportive of these new rules, your opening gambit in this thread is in breach of much of section one, even putting aside the unwarranted hostility and seeming inability to respond politely and calmly - your capitalized 'shouting' alone sees you break these rules.

Your post, along with this thread, is pure rat shit. It shouldn't be in the top of the forum, and people should just let it die here..
2416  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MTGox Is Gone Forever.... ? on: June 21, 2011, 03:25:54 PM
Well, there are several US laws against exchanges.  Check out some of the US securties laws as well as money transfer agent laws.  Money Laundering is a major issue in the US, and exchangers like those who exchange Liberty reserve and other ecurrencies are not permitted to operate in many cases.
Why are you trolling our forum?

If you don't exchange bitcoin's using LR, than there isn't any problems. Actually this whole "exchange" aspect of bitcoins sickens me. Thats not what they're meant for. Go back to "talk gold" and spread more HYIP speculation, on a currency that simply isn't going anywhere. No matter how much clowns on the Internet try to make it go away.

Forex trades 24/7 and they're ok.
They're not a brand new startup currency. I think I made my point clear that 24/7 trading will be possible in a few years (Hopefully months if we get to work), but right now it's not looking to attractive.

You won't need sleep in a few years?
Because it was your original argument.
Sleep is becoming more and more of a luxury for me, bitcoins aren't helping !!! :p

Wrong, he despises the government and busybodies like you, not society. Law Enforcement is more worried about arresting us for simon says rules than protecting us from actual criminals. Murderers and thugs are far more afraid of the .38 snubnose I keep concealed on my person at all times than the cops. And no I don't have a concealed carry permit.

Well, I AM somewhat libertarian,

No such thing as somewhat libertarian.

You own a gun, I don't. I need society to keep me safe because I simply don't want to pack heat, I'm not familiar with it, and never have been attracted to firearms, but I respect anyone who chooses to own one.

Now I know for a fact that there is at-least one person in your life you care about who doesn't own a gun, and you rely on the system that we currently live in, to protect your loved ones. You see they may not own a gun , but people who own LOTS of guns are only 15 seconds away with a 3 digit phone call. You claiming independence from our governmental system is like a bee claiming independence from it's hive, it can sting once and die, but if it calls for help the bee triples it's power.
