OK. I'm ready for the 0.5 release to arrive.

20 BTC bounty to see it in the wild.  Grin
2402  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: [BOUNTY 5 BTC] Clear instructions for cgminer's --scan-serial option on: February 23, 2012, 01:43:36 PM
See your "dmesg" and maybe "logread" to see when you plug and unplug the device to see the serial port.

It should be something like "/dev/ttyUSBx" with "x" being a number like 0 or 1 etc.

Then launch cgminer with the --scan-serial option like this :

./cgminer --scan-serial /dev/ttyUSB1

in case your device uses 1 etc.

Make sure to compile cgminer with the BFL support because it comes disabled by default ( or if you are using the binaries the same applies and you need to compile manually with BFL support on ).

https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer how to compile.

Thank you and 1M1Eo8upubkEmCqmhnMvVMfEyQiYbCXxKS if I helped.

Hi Bulanula,

"maybe" is not something I am looking for here. Please provide step-by-step instructions to claim the bounty.

I have tried using dmesg and the output I get I am unable to comprehend.

2405  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / [BOUNTY 5 BTC] Clear instructions for cgminer's --scan-serial option on: February 23, 2012, 01:03:47 PM
Hello fellow bitcoiners!

I am willing to pay 5 BTC for clear, step-by-step instructions for using the latest cgminer build with the --scal-serial option ON LINUX.

Specifically, the instructions should include:

- How do detect what serial port each BFL unit is on.
- What exactly needs to be added to the --scan-serial option.
- Any other tidbits to make others life easier as more singles arrive.

The first one to post the instructions that I can follow with get the bounty.

Thanks,
gigavps

Does it work with Bamt?

It will when 0.5 comes out.
2407  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL Single in the wild (send me my bounty!) on: February 23, 2012, 03:43:22 AM
Hey gigavps, can you tell me how high your ambient room temperature can get to before the BFL single starts to throttle itself?

I have it in the front office right now with doesn't get above 78. Inaba has had his single throttle, but I am unsure of the temp.

60% efficiency gets better over time yes?

I'll post some updated pics when I get back to the DC in the morning.

giga, have you ordered any more? one thing i'm curious to see is how multiple 'singles' would go being run on 1 pc.

would there be any bandwidth or power issues with the usb port?

I've ordered 10 more. The documentation says 100 can be run off of a single computer.

I am slightly confused tho,  Fedex tracking info but the box showed Priority Mail from USPS.  Which was it?
Fedex doesn't give a shit what kind of boxes you use.

A free box is a free box.

Whatever keeps the cost of my next 100 singles down...

Whoa got cgminer working.. that was easy.. and there is a nice little text based menu..  I was under the assumption it was all command line.

I got one of my units on cg miner pointed at gpumax ..

I should've switched ages ago..  liking the all in one=esque cgminer.. Smiley   thanks for the tips

Will report tomorrow how all fares for the night.

I see the occasional Pool is not supplying work fast enough so far..

2419  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT - Easy persistent USB key based linux for dedicated miners/mining farms on: February 20, 2012, 07:20:11 PM
Has anyone been running cgminer 2.2.x with BAMT? I'm still getting random OFF GPU's through 2.2.6 (just installed 2.2.7 to test) and I'm wondering if it's just something I'm doing wrong.

probably just the typical cgminer bugs.  I haven't pushed out any new versions in fixes because it seems ever since 2.2.X they haven't been able to release a stable version.

very much recommend to use phoenix.  much more stable.

I agree, and would like to get back to phoenix but my ISP doesn't agree with it.  Cgminer handles the crappy connection much better, which is why I was excited to see it finally integrated into BAMT - which reminds me, I owe you some coins.  The auto fan flag just causes GPU's to randomly disable after 2.1.2 so I guess I'll just stick to that version for now.

We need lodcrappo drunk with coins!!!!

It's the only way to make BAMT more awesome.  Grin

In other news, Who is going to collect that 13 BTC bounty? I thought we'd have something for sure this last weekend.

To collect, we'll need a tracking number posted into this forum AND an un-boxing video.
I dunno how much info can be gleaned from a tracking number, but is it OK to PM it to a mod, who can then post and say it's legit? For 13 BTC, I would do that and an unboxing + setup video, if I ever get a tracking number (and a single) in the first place. Roll Eyes

The deadline is end of day Friday (PST). There were whispers in the #bitcoin chatroom that someone had received a device on Sunday, but I haven't heard anything since.

A little birdie said my first single would be flying out to me tomorrow.  Grin  Grin  Grin
