2402  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] 90% Junk Silver for BTC on: April 29, 2013, 11:23:18 AM
If it is not a counterfeit... Most being sold are aluminum and steel or mixes useless metals. All fail a simple magnet-slide test, and sonic-depth test, and acid test. If you "were in the know", you would also be aware of that.

Whiskey boy isn't big on tests. He "can see" how pure the silver is. No really, he really does believe that.

Do people really pay hundreds of dollars for video game characters?

At this point CPU mining is long dead and GPU mining is on it's way out with only a scant few weeks until the ASICs roll out in force. Your notebook only supports CPU mining and is a particularly poor choice as these things are not built to be run at 100% load 24/7.

Investing into a GPU rig at this point in time seems unwise because with ASICS rolling out as they are it's unlikely you'd make your investment back.

Investing into an ASIC remains a choice but requires a hefty sum of money. ASICMiner Eruptor blades with 10 GH/s are currently selling at about 5000 $ but at least get delivered a week after. With other ASIC manufacturers this is not so, especially with BFL ordering now you'd MAYBE (wait, let me redo that) MAYBE get the things in August and then it's increasingly unlikely again to ever recoup the cost.

Good god, that's a notebook. Stop what you're doing before the thing goes up in flames.

You will not mine anything on that before it dies in a ball of fire.

No and No? What are you talking about?
2407  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASIC chip manufacturers. on: April 29, 2013, 10:35:52 AM

No, I am looking at buying some shares or options.

It seems like they could be in for a steller quarter based upon the needs of all of us looking to buy asic miners.

ROTFLMAO

Care to share in the joke?

You don't think that TSM will increase their profits from us buying stuff from them?

Have any BTC arrived in anyone's wallet yet?

Nope. Still waiting for coins to arrive.

This is an internet forum, not a shopping center
Have you been in the Marketplace lately?

Good god no, I don't visit that hive of scam (sic) and villainy. If I wanted to get scammed, I'd go directly to the HYIP forum instead. At least there the scams are a bit more elegant than the marketplaces "U GIVE BTC YES? HAHA NOW U NO BTC! I ALL BTC!"
2411  Other / Meta / Re: "Sign in with BitcoinTalk" on: April 29, 2013, 08:56:52 AM
I have no idea how to implement this, but I thought it would be cool if the forum provided an API that allowed websites to add a "Sign in with BitcoinTalk account" feature. BitcoinTalk is the premiere Bitcoin community website, and it would be much more convenient for a Bitcoin-related website to simply bootstrap on a BitcoinTalk account.

Were you around when the password hashes for this forum were compromised? Not such a big deal then, but if the same login also controls other services...

I was, but the forum is more secure now.

The forum runs on a 4 year old implementation of SMF 1. No, it's not secure.
