2401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I've invested around 450 dollars into bitcoin so far and I am 16 years old on: February 19, 2023, 04:50:50 PM
I tried to get my sister to get in on btc but she said she doesn't like the "stress" L sister  Roll Eyes
Maybe by seeing you investing on practice she will get interested on this matter eventually. Especially once she sees there is nothing stressful in investing in bitcoin, if you are a long term holder. I believe it's stressful to invest only when you are a day trader who is constantly trying to milk few pennies profit every day from market's fluctuations, which lead to potential losses after a while.
2402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: reasons why someone wants to pay in tether and not bitcoin? on: February 19, 2023, 03:50:30 PM
People can still deal with bitcoin payments while avoiding its volatility. All they have to do is to withdraw btc to local currency right after they execute the negotiation. This way there is no advantage for stablecoins in comparision to bitcoin, as stability is the only benefit stablecoins can offer. Then if you neutralize bitcoin's volatility by doing what I mentioned above, the cons of stablecoins will be emphasized, especially due to the lack of guarantees (coverage) issued by the central organization behind them to peg the price in 1 : 1 to dollar.

Today I logged in my old Freebitoin after 2 years.  Smiley
I kind see some changes here and there, I recall playing some Hi-Lo back in the day. I would have expected them to have changed the interface a bit more, make it more easier to use, adding a slider (like those one can find on dices). But I do not complain, I will try to see what else I can find after some much time.

Nice they did not delete my zero-balance account, appreciated.  Tongue
I think it will not be possible for FreeBitcoin to get rid of the money in your account even if you are not active for several years, because I also accessed the old account before it was inactive from 2017 to 2019, my funds are still intact there, that's the best of FreeBitcoin for all their users
That is truly admirable freebitco.in doesn't seize funds after a period of inactivity, like some other crypto services do. I've also been inactive for a considerable length of time once, and when I logged in again, it was really rewarding to see not only the entire balance there, but also the interest paid over it meanwhile.

On the other hand, some faucets I had an account and logged back after a while of absence, had already deleted my account or confiscated my funds. Thankfully I had only small amounts of satoshi there.
2404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I asked - Which country is best suited to adopt Bitcoin in 2023? on: February 18, 2023, 09:45:27 PM
El Salvador has already adopted bitcoin, so it shouldn't be on that list by the AI, anyway. Switzerland is directly related to banking system, economics, since it's the destiny of many wealthy investors and professionals from the banking, financial system. Singapore is a technological pole and Ukraine has been trying to improve their economy during a war, what must surely lead politicians and regulators to open their minds to suggestions and possibilities, including bitcoin adoption through friendly laws to its usage.

As I see, all of them are possible countries to adopt bitcoin soon, although it's impossible to say if it's going to happen by the end of 2023.

78 satoshis is a pretty decent amount to claim every hour with just one click.

Here I've seen a drop from 45 satoshis base reward to 32 satoshis right now, after the recent pump in btc price. I believe once bitcoin hit higher price levels futurely, it will be like we are claiming 0,10$ for free every hour as base reward (that is, if bitcoin grows x10 yet).

I'd say it's average. I can imagine those that wagered a shitton receiving several hundred Sats.

Even with the high prices, this is the only faucet worth claiming from. Better if you have referrals that are motivated enough as well.
I think the maximum you can earn from base reward is 152 satoshis, so you are more than 50% on your way to this achievement. If you gamble another same portion of money you have already gambled so far, you will reach there.

Also, it's possible to boost the process by playing jackpots (x4) and buying lottery tickets (x20).

Playing freerolls for the past week has been some kind of crazy, seeing 9 sats to 8 sats, doesn't seem much at all but it's a big idea of how much price has been changing the past few days especially. I'm getting quite a lot of bonus from wager too so it's actually more like a difference of 10 sats for me in those swinging times!

Anyone else kinda miss seeing 10 sats per roll? I don't even want to talk about seeing 100 a few years ago only lol

Same here but well, business is still business. We gotta wager more to enjoy them. My base is 78 Sats sans the booster.

Sometimes I just place some bets for some cheap thrills and maintain the bonus.

With the price of BTC, gone were those days.

2407  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Favourite MEME COINS? on: February 18, 2023, 03:43:06 PM
The only memecoin which seems to have potential of survival on long term is DOGE, due to it being a classical altcoin from the early years of crypto environment. Just like Bitcoin is the original source of every cryptos, DOGE could be said to be the original source of every memecoins, so it has indeed an extra weight on the category of cryptocurrencies it's inserted. I believe other memecoins are moved only by hypes, which are temporary, therefore being very risky and volatile investments that can crash to the bottom without warnings.
2408  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Exchange with cheapest fees on: February 18, 2023, 03:08:19 PM
I've noticed that you're wearing Stake signature. Why don't you make use of your Stake account for this. I believe the minimum withdrawal is $10 and it doesn't charge a fee. Am I right? Or why don't you send them the coins from your own wallet, one which allows you to use the lowest fee possible? That would be more interesting I guess. Or if somebody is willing to spend a little more than $10, let him/her learn how to make a transaction from a non-custodial open source wallet and send Sats to a fellow learner? I mean, there must be other ways.
Yes, that is a good idea. I reached the conclusion I'm going to sell interested people bitcoins myself. Minimum withdrawal from Stake is 20,000 satoshis and there is a fee of 7000 satoshis. For larger transactions that fee is fine, but if they want to acquire a small amount, I can also make the transaction from freebitco.in platform, paying only 520 satoshis on fees (slow withdrawal).

The point now is the receiver wallet... I know people in real life who invest in BTC and use only Binance to store their coins, so it's indeed the first option for the layman due to the accessibility, and they don't seem interested in self-custody. Moreover, it's out of my control if they prefer accessibility over safety, after all it's responsability of each adopter to take the possible consequences for their decisions. They will decide doing the don'ts or the dos, as they wish.

My advice is that a hardware wallet is purchased, as that is the method I use and think it's pretty simple, while being safe.
2409  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: February 18, 2023, 12:33:38 AM
I think its possible to predict futures but only to a certain degree. 100% is of course impossible because of the very nature of the universe at the smallest measurements. But what we can predict is the probabilities of certain future events. This is where AI can definitely do much more than the human mind. And the more complex and advanced AI technology becomes, the better the predictions become...

Either way, its due to the probabilistic nature of the predictions, it will be considered gambling but with improved odds. So, not that much of an improvement.

Also, since the technology is available to everyone, that means everyone will expect the same outcome. This will have an effect of lowering the odds automatically.

AI can make attempts on future predictions. This machines are feed with sample datas and they are made to learn from past events which aid this bots  make predictions based on what they learn from the models they are been trained on. AI is rapidly increasing. They might get their predictions wrong in few cases but definitely their guesses will be far better than those of human thinking.
But isn't it what sportsbooks already do when offering odds to gamblers? The favorite team/athlete has the lowest odds, while the underdog has the highest odds. In order to reach those odds results they have to do calculations, just like the AI does when finding the most likely outcome for a match. That means the AI can help us concluding who is the favorite and the underdog of a match, however, since sportsbook already do that, do gamblers really need an AI for that purpose?
2410  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting fraud in Brazil 😦 on: February 17, 2023, 10:08:22 PM
In these cases, bets were placed on the competitions that we call "Series B", which is the second largest football championship in Brazil, in which the best classifieds guarantee a place for the main championship in the following year.
I believe a scandal like this was just a matter of time, taking the history of the country with previous corruption schemes, recent skyrocket of sports betting platforms' popularity locally, and a fertile niche to execute a profitable scam, like the Serie B, since attention from public and media is mostly focused in Serie A.
Its a fixed matches, so those people behind this manipulation is surely making a lot of money and of course the sports itself benefited from that and that’s why they are still doing this.

If there’s a big mafia behind this one, how can the government stop this if some of them are also involve to this for sure. This is the risk on a sports betting, hard to know if they are a fixed matches or not, its also happening in other sports.
Due to the country's history, it's really possible that there could be an agent of the government involved on this kind of scheme, at least at some point of the case, as the judiciary, legislative and executive are very close to each other. Maybe what we know so far is just the top of the iceberg. It was said 3 players are under suspicion, but there could be more we don't know yet. Investigations are happening in real time, so it's early to say 'how deep the hole is". Let's see if this case is going to be taken till the end.
2411  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Exchange with cheapest fees on: February 17, 2023, 09:59:09 PM
I have not come across any crypto exchange in the name of local digital bank; could you please share its URL if your time permits (I know I am able to find by google still I just want to double confirm with the right one).
https://www.zrobank.com.br/

I still didn't try this one, but I was customer of another platform, called Alter, but it ceased operations and merged with a company of the same segment called Méliuz (more focused on discounts for different products and services). However, I had to stop using the service because even though they still deal with bitcoin, it's not possible to deposit or sell bitcoin for fiat inside the platform anymore.

I was going to join zrobank, but due to the spread fees on the exchange act, I didn't go ahead. I want to know very clearly how much I'm paying on fees, and these services are looking shady in my opinion on this matter. I'm considering P2P transactions, but I don't know if I could find trusted people dealing with my national currency and bitcoin.
2412  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Exchange with cheapest fees on: February 17, 2023, 06:08:04 PM
Crypto.com: zero withdrawal fees to bank account, 0,0750% fee on exchanges;
Be careful of Crypto.com. After a BTC : fiat swap, I noticed I had 6,5% less money value. That was the fee they charged for the exchange, on the opposite of the 0,0750% they officially state. After all, taxes are heavily subjective. Total lack of transparency and respect for customers.
2413  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: February 17, 2023, 05:30:45 PM
What can't they only do is predicting because that is something can't be done by the humans but despite of it, there are still attempts that I see that people are using AI in trading and also in betting. Well good luck on them. I don't want to mess with that because I am afraid to lose money and doing so can reduce the fun and thrill that I'm supposed to experience on doing those activities.
Predicting future outcomes is something that can't be done by humans, animals or machines and it will never be. AIs can thinking about possibilities, just like humans, but accuracy is never going to be a guarantee. But it's not unsual that AIs are being promoted as a safe tool for betting, because there are developers who earn money with this, just like trading bots developers and every other professionals working inside the clairvoyance industry, including the esoteric ones.
2414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin is suitable and reliable for staking? on: February 17, 2023, 03:46:55 PM
Usually and most of the time the higher the APY the higher risk it is, usually due to the volatility of its price (not really that sure)
Yes, what you earn with APY you are going to lose later with devalution in price of the coin or token. High APY is just a marketing strategy to attract long term holders, but as soon as the first holders receive their initial interest payments, they are going to dump the coin or token's price by selling the generated interest. At some point there won't be enough demand on the market to keep the supply under control, so we see prices crashing and never recovering again to previous levels.

2416  Economy / Economics / Re: Cheap food: can you beat this price in your country? on: February 17, 2023, 02:53:47 PM
Brazil is beautiful from what I've heard, and I'm shocked that the cost of living is that low.  OP, there's nowhere in the US where you can get a meal as cheap as the one you described (am I correct in assuming that's USD in your post?).
Yes, all the values I post are converted to USD, taking the currently Real : Dollar ratio on the moment I'm writing the post.

Even the dollar menu at McDonald's is now like the $5 menu, and if you can easily spend $15 just for an unsatisfying sandwich, fries, and a watered down soda.  It's no better anywhere else as far as I know, and I think it's only going to get worse.  There's an egg shortage now?  WTF?
Years ago McDonalds had some very interesting promotions here. Each day of the week we had one sandwich in promo, including Big Mac. I think it was about 2$ on that time, and Dollar was also cheaper compared to Real. I remember buying a sandwich and a big fries portion and taking home, so I had coca-cola cheaper from the supermarket.

But since then, I haven't been to big centers often anymore. Just last year when I had the opportunity to return to McDonalds, I saw that promotion didn't exist anymore. Now prices are also more expensive and similar to the 15$ you mentioned, although I remember eating a lot. I'm checking the prices on the internet right now and it says a Big Mac combo is around 5,33$ (probably with a medium portion of fries and soda, which are small for my taste).

Going much back in time yet, there was also a vanilla ice cream cone promotion, on which you received a free one after 5 bought (could be acquired in different days).

I read on an article where minimum wage in Brazil is 2265 BRL/Month or $440/Month [1], how it's possible you're saying the minimum wage is only $25/Month.
Then read it again, and I never said minimum wage here is 25$ monthly...

These rates aren't considering the raise to 1320 BRL this year, as announced by the president, so it's slightly higher (not that 18 BRL extra worth anything, anyway).
2417  Economy / Economics / Re: Cheap food: can you beat this price in your country? on: February 16, 2023, 10:34:01 PM
Which country are you talking about? 35$ might look cheap in the US but for a meal in a country like Pakistan 35$ for a month for a person two meals is still on the average or the higher side only. You can get away with cheaper cost if you cook at home for a family of 3-4. Also in India as well you can find decent portion of food which costs around the similar price at a lot of mediocre places and many people especially the wage labour do eat it.
Brazil.
Wow, if that is expensive for people in Pakistan and India I would like to know what is considered a cheap price for restaurant's food there, and what food it is.

And the average wage around there is....?
252$ minimum wage. Most people earn this monthly.

And getting sick in the process. Most of that is carbs. I suspect you haven't had the pleasure of eating rice with beans all day, but I can assure you it's going to lead to gases and constipation.
I could technically eat extremely cheap if I wanted to, for instance buy the cheapest pasta and make a basic tomato sauce with onion, garlic and some basil and a serving of that would probably cost me 2 EUR and keep me full for half a day, but the real question is, do I want to?
Hahaha! I also heared this kind of feedback from people around, but what can I say, I like doing experiments! Cheesy

Yes, nutritional value is pretty low and the meal lacks proteins. Still, it's just 0,57$ and I couldn't avoid sharing this curiosity, because it was surprising even for me, since cheapest meals here are usually 2,68$.

Feeds one person decently and the taste is good. You can eat the whole month for less than 35$, considering lunch and dinner daily! That is perfect for cutting expenses with food!
I wonder how the owners of the place are making their profit in this period. I also imagine the food will be small for that amount and not really enough for someone with a large appetite and also that even someone with a small appetite may decide to eat more on some days maybe due to some activities.
It seems operational costs are subsidized by the state (at least partially). The portion size is decent for one person, at least for me.
2418  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Looking for Investors for my Upcoming PvP crypto Casino on: February 16, 2023, 08:00:40 PM
IMO, you are gonna to have a hard time for collecting a fund.

800$ bankroll from your self are not gonna to make a confident/trust to the client/investor, "CASINO" business should have a high bankroll by your self. Then, If you feel not enough you can find some partner, created a token, or investment scheme based the profit from your self.

However, based the explanation fund from your post. It's gonna be hard.
If he could provide detailed informations about his project and his reputation on this thread it would be much easier for potential investors to decide if it worth to invest or not. To mention he is a member of ogu.gg forum isn't enough, because most members of bitcointalk aren't part of that community, so they don't have an account there to check OP's reputation and probably won't create one solely for that purpose.
2419  Economy / Economics / Cheap food: can you beat this price in your country? on: February 16, 2023, 05:47:43 PM
Just found a restaurant where the individual meal costs only 0,57$! Meal composed by rice, toasted cassava flour and black bean stew with few pieces of pork meats. Feeds one person decently and the taste is good. You can eat the whole month for less than 35$, considering lunch and dinner daily! That is perfect for cutting expenses with food!

Do you know any restaurants which serve cheaper meals than that where you live? It must be a meal, not snacks.
2420  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I have always wanted to ask this about bitcoin on: February 16, 2023, 05:31:07 PM
Will people still use or buy bitcoin till today if all it has to offer is the decentralized characteristic only, I am trying to say that if bitcoin is stable in value from day one and has no investment ability will you still buy it?
If bitcoin is stable in value, it still means it has an advantage compared to fiat currencies, which lose value on long term to inflation, right? So, bitcoin has more than decentralization to offer in your example.

if all it has to offer is moving money around and no volatility, will Bitcoin be your favorite still? Drop your thoughts and let's see.

I am thinking that the Volatile is what makes bitcoin a must have for almost everybody, think I am wrong?

And people won't see a reason to buy Bitcoin if there were no Volatility from day one.
Investors like bitcoin's volatility because it proportionates high financial returns every cycle. We don't know exactly how many people would lose interest in btc if it became more stable, but there would be still many enthusiasts dealing with bitcoin on that case, due to the fact you are always under control of your money when dealing with bitcoin in a private way, making it impossible for regulators seizing it, besides it being a strong, accessible and simple store of value for your funds.
