2421  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Miami arresting people for use of Bitcoin on: February 18, 2014, 08:13:26 AM
It has nothing to do with BTC, it's just an ordinary credit card crime that involved BTC.

Wow some people are so easily confused and that's what the authorities count on.  Simple minded people believe eveyrthing they are told.

2422  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / EBTcoin is the answer to that question on: February 18, 2014, 07:47:15 AM
EBTcoin is the answer to that question

I think this a great idea. I also have a similar idea, can't say it here because it's my baby project but
I think a coin should almost be created just for this purpose.
Need help let me know.

EBTcoin?

BTC price volatility will act as a deterrent to such implementation at this point in time. Also, the gov wants people using food stamps for food only. Recipients of BTC as a means of a "food stamp" will be able to easily sell their btc for cash. A colored btc may be able to solve that though..

that occurred when it was paper and coins, that occurs now with the plastic card, and will occur regardless of the medium of exchange.

The best solution is to employ everyone.

...Food Stamps is not donated by any stretch of the imagination - it is coerced from the productive workers and businesses under threat of force (fines, imprisonment, all all that sort of violent stuff).  Resist and they come looking for you, resist more and they will kill you...
You've got it twisted, if employers paid their workers a living wage there would be no need for foodstamps.
Aren't Foodstamps for the unemployed, or is it for people on low income, or both?
They're for both as far as I know, McDonald's employees in the US working full time still have to use foodstamps just to feed their families. So basically the government is subsidising the poverty wages of greedy corporations.

Corporations are paying more than their fair share to feed, cloth, and shelter the indigent.

The fast food industry is the employment gateway for millions of US resident, now that so many "educated" and highly skilled people are out of work, the FF industry has more choices which often means the less educated and skilled workforce has less opportunities.  Not that they can't do the job, but that the job isn't there for them to do.

Every FF corp that exists has a charity arm that supports those who are less fortunate in some way -- they give back.

It is right, what the Woman-Reporter said. Women do buy lots of stuff, they spend so fucking much money. But they like things to be easy and smooth and to sparkle. It MUST not be complicated, it must not be necessary to think about what you're doing and it must not feel nerdy or creepy, but super-awesome.

The fuck? You do realise Bitcoin by it's very nature is something quite complicated right? If women can figure out how to use ATM's and Credit Cards or operate bank accounts themselves then they can figure out how to use Bitcoin, in fact using Bitcoin by itself is pretty damn easy once you get the hang of it, it's just a matter of using some common sense and doing research. I hope this is a troll but I'm finding it pretty ironic that in your very lengthy rant you not only passively attack the people you want to change things but also make some sexist comments towards women as well.

This is precisely why I hate feminism, if girls don't want to be involved in Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies that's their fucking choice, some girls may actually want to be girly, that's what equality is, you leave people the fuck alone to make their own choices rather than try to manage their lives from a board room. This reminds me an awful lot of the I.T industry etc. where you'll have companies who will hire a woman the second they get to make themselves look good just because she is a woman rather than actually looking what skills she has, as long as she can spell things like 'computer' it's all good because hiring people because of their ethnicity/gender or putting them into a social group is a great way to show how much you respect equal rights.

can't say I didn't see that coming down the line
2424  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Women have to take the lead! on: February 18, 2014, 07:39:00 AM
are there any female miners?

That's like asking if there is any male miners of course there is.

no, it's not like asking 'if there are any male miners'

The implication of the question: "are there any female miners?" is 'I know there must be some, but is the number so low that they are practically non-existent'?
that same claim cannot be presumed for men.

I"ll go out on a limb and say 99+% of the miners are male, I'll go out on a further limb and say there are more male minors below the age of 18 than female miners of any age.

2425  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Women have to take the lead! on: February 18, 2014, 06:15:33 AM
I am a woman and I use Bitcoin.   Grin  (that was a thread I posted almost a year ago)

It may have been "I am a housewife and I use Bitcoin" but I can't exactly remember how I phrased it.

But there are some of us on here.

Now that you see all of the above comments pleaseeeeee provide your feedback on why women in general are seemingly uninterested in cryptocurrency.

2430  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Miami arresting people for use of Bitcoin on: February 18, 2014, 05:34:38 AM
It makes sense that Miami, the illegal drug capital of the world, would voraciously chase money laundering criminals. If the piggies set up a sting they were being watched for a long time. Who knows how much drug money localbitcoins has laundered in the last couple of years. The downside isn't that the idiots were caught but that yet another negative media report exists showing John Q Public that Bitcoins are only for criminals. Lovely!
Some sting operation. They go after guys that advertise publicly for their service. Wow! If all criminals did that, the Florida cops could just meet all of them at the donut shop.

2431  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: POLL: Is Mt. Gox Solvent? on: February 17, 2014, 08:10:20 PM
Consider this:

In the last 30 days alone, MtGox has made more than $3 million in trading fees.

don't expect that to go up

people are getting out, only the hardcore greedy gamblers are willingly riding it out
2432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Petition To Remove Mark Karpeles From The Bitcoin Foundation Board on: February 17, 2014, 08:04:12 PM
Hopefully something will be done when we get 72 more signatures about his position at the board he is obviously not wanted by the community and should be removed.

It may not take the signatures for action to take place;

http://www.coindesk.com/mt-gox-may-headed-bankruptcy/

I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

IMO the sooner the better

Maybe not if they go under with everybodies money and coins.

the foundation holds people's coins?

i don't understand?

they hold people's trust
2433  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can't withdraw from MtGox on: February 17, 2014, 08:00:17 PM
Sorry to be so harsh for your first post, but you must've been living under a stone to miss why withdrawals do not work right now.
Check out the news page on https://www.mtgox.com/news or any other news website writing about BTC.

I think he's talking about after the resumption of withdrawals, he fears that he still will not be able to make withdrawals until he is verified.

OP, just get verified, believe me Gox the withdrawal access will probably start after you are verified if you start the process now.

if your annominity is worth more than 25% of your Gox btc value (not to be confused with all other btc value) then you might find a traders

2435  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Mr. Gox playing like the cat with the mouse ? on: February 17, 2014, 07:36:25 PM
If I were mr. Gox I would buy Bitcoins on my system (closed for everyone else) and selling them on Bitstamp for a nice 100% or more gain, without taking any risk.

Why should I work to restore the normal operation of my system and lose this wonderful opportunity to make huge gains ?

Nick.

the assumption is that "Mr. Gox" would have the foresight to know that the other markets would segregate themselves from him, and that he would have the funds to do it when the price is at the differential you expressed.

My guess is they probably did all of what they could do in that way however just after the announcement was made over that weekend, but because they failed to announce that withdrawals would resume again on the Monday instead of the anticipated double dive, the markets separated from him with diverging btc values.  In my example he's holding coin for $450 on avg, hoping to see an $800+ value anywhere, but that doesn't happen over the span of the whole next week -- he's stuck.

Over the next month will be able to use it in small amounts so as not to indicate a supply surplus and trigger lower prices.

There is talk of bankrupcy, with that who ever his corporate creditors are they are going to squeeeze him like a pimple so  his ONLY hope is slow payout and fast price increase.

2439  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Who Has The Best Exchange, And Why? on: February 17, 2014, 05:55:44 PM
for me best working exchanges are vircurex.com  bitcurex.com bter.com

Smiley Ty.

all of them have reasonably good prices.
I never had ANY problems with deposits or withdraw.

Smiley

thanks, that first one vircurex.com  is very attractive.

Bitfinex. Because it allows you to make money regardless of market direction (you can go both long and short).

Exchanges who do not allow you to take short position only let you make money when the market is going up.

interesting, sites looks brand new, if that is possible
