2421  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Learning from those who have experience on: September 10, 2023, 08:56:07 PM

The main thing that I can learn from this discussion is about protecting yourself from addiction or staying away from addiction after signs appear such as wanting to be addicted to gambling and these signs are quite easy for us to recognize, such as every time you want to gamble, always think about a certain type of betting game and always be curious. and want to get a big win.
Signs like this are often felt by gambling addicts before being addicted and this is a very appropriate early sign if someone is starting to become addicted and I think if someone feels signs like this it would be better to tell anyone they can trust to ask for help diverting thoughts on gambling.
Exactly,  learning how to protect yourself from getting addicted is the best form of practice and this is more so when you take every possible precaution to avoid getting addicted in the first place, A lot of newbies have used the help from this discussion to learn how sliding into addictions and avoid addictions since it has been proven that it is easier to get addicted,  but very hard to get out of it.

So the best practice is to safeguard yourself from getting addicted instead of trying to get out of it, Most of the gambling addicts who have come out of addictions have taken a long time and changes to come along which not everybody will be willing to take such route.

Learning from experienced players how to control our gambling habits is the best method to escape addiction. Most times it's best to have them around you in real life, watch how they go about their daily activities, it'll help the addicted player to shape his/her bad gambling attitude. One of the things to learn from experts, may include, managing our money by setting out a specific amount that we must stake for the day. If exhausted gambling for the day ends.

The worst part of addiction, is lack of self control. If an addicted person doesn't manage their funds,  when they go broke, you'll see that such person will do anything possible just to gamble or win. Another good strategy is to stay with people friends or relatives who are not gamblers, join them in their daily activities, like sports or useful discussions. This will help the addicted player to forget gambling for some times, thereby reducing the urge to gamble as usual.
2422  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Behaviours of gamblers you dislike. on: September 10, 2023, 08:14:55 PM

I hate the second and third points that you've mentioned. I usually see people who have failed in gambling themselves keep tickling those who are winning to provide them with tips and tricks or strategies that they can use to win as well, and I don't understand why people think that they can win just after getting some tips from another gambler when the other gambler himself is winning just because he is lucky and not for any other reason.

And, I also hate people who borrow money from others by making excuses that they will use it on other things but then they use that money in gambling and once they lose that money, they forget about it like they never borrowed it and when confronted, they behave like they got offended from it.
Me too, I don't like when someone just talk to me because he knew that i am winning. I don't want to lend some to people who are not capable to manage their emotions and I don't want to give that to them because I am sure they will just lose again because their mindset is just to win the game and get their loses back which will make them to lose more because of that thing.

It depends on what the person is trying to communicate with me at the moment. If their communication or question is about help or the right game to place, that won't be an issue, unless they're talking about tipping them some cash from my winnings. It pisses me off. I also don't like it when a friend predicts the wrong game or tells me that my predictions are wrong and it ends up being false. If I play their game or choice and lose, it will never be a happy day for me. However, such things we must encounter as gamblers as people are not perfect. From time to time they'll do things that'll spoil our fun or mode in some manner.
2423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do we benefit in lies in forum on: September 10, 2023, 05:28:52 PM
I'm not creating this thread to wrong or offend anyone, because i have read so many post that is like fiction, even though cooperate with system, so many thread in Bitcoin discussion mostly newbies like me do frame a story that is not real in Bitcoin and also said a story of what they achieve in Bitcoin that is not real and present to the public to read and take as real story whereas it's a fiction, I want the reason behind someone given a fiction story to the forum. I want ask a question as an old forum user, is it not prohibited when someone discussed something that is not contrary to bitcoin education in this board.
You have made a good topic here, as many members are telling lies and creating fictional stories just to get some attention and, of course, merit. That's why we only see such posts or topics coming from newbies. Why legendary members do not create such fictional stories? In my time here, I also read some, and one of the most strange stories was the following:

I was not able to find the link, but the context was that OP's neighbor's daughter was kidnapped, and the kidnappers asked for payment in BTC, and OP was asking whether his neighbor should sell his BTC or not. I mean, what! Many people at that time indicated that it was a fictional story, but such stories are sometimes hard to forget and leave some sad impact too. I mean, what if the OP is telling the truth, but still, I and many others think that's also a fictional story?

We all should really avoid it. If we really want to gain some trust, we cannot get it from anyone, either in BTT or in real life. We cannot earn trust by telling lies. That truth will be temporary, so please, all newbies should avoid it.

It's easier to lie online and get away with it. Any thread that centers on things regarding money, bragging or show off most a times tends to be lies. But how can we verify this? That's the problem. The only way out is to avoid such threads and move ahead to read relevant discussion that'll worth your time. The story you reffered to above might be complicated, in either to believe it or not. Yet its attributed to lack of contents to share in the forum. Because such serious problems shouldn't require an uncalculated question; if the Op's friend should sell their bitcoin. That's not pure, since nobody will joke with the lives of their loved ones because of bitcoin. So, if a reader is in doubt of a thread, they can try to verify or ignore it.
2424  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why gambling beginners must not joke with casino announcement on: September 10, 2023, 02:29:30 PM
Following your suggestion means not encouraging a new casino to expand their business. I don't agree with your points.

I second your view. I have seen numerous posts like this on this forum countless times and in my opinion it sounds as demarketing the new and upcoming casinos. A journey of thousand miles start with a step as the saying goes. Even the reputable casinos today started from somewhere and they wouldn't have come this far if people were discouraged to use them in the first place. I know it's very good to be cautious due to high growth of scam in the gambling sites now but without trial we can not tell if the casino is legit or scam and using Bitcointalk Ann thread as the basis of trust is ridiculous.

Bitcointalk is actually a bigger Forum with a significant number of gamblers. Having representative here in the forum and Ann thread is actually good in order to create awareness and attend to issues transparently but discarding casinos that does not have Ann thread in this forum is not a nice idea. I know of a reputable sites that have no representative here. The reason for most of this casinos presence in the forum is absolutely for marketing purposes.

Yes, marketing is the primary aim of any casino, to reach their goals, and make lots of money to settle their enormous bills. And it's rare to understand the plan of any casino, it can change at any time. Such things as staying in touch with casino announcements is a great advice. But, bitcointalk is not the only platform for gamblers to choose a good casino. Other casino guru forums exist where honest reviews are made to keep up with the genuineness of a casino. Yet it doesn't change anything for a casino that decides to cheat players after claiming to be genuine for few months. Forums as these only help reduce  the number of affected players, by alerting everyone to stay away from tricky or scam casinos.
2425  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tips for beginners on: September 09, 2023, 11:20:08 PM
Such great tips for beginners. I am not a beginner, I wanted to skip the post but on a second thought I decided to check the rank of the creator of the topic. Lo! It happens to be another newbie teaching newbies thread.
I am also a newbie but I think my points are valid am I right

Your points are not valid to the targeted rank; newbie. A newbie don't need to read about joining signature in the forum and methods of receiving funds. What I expected from the topic, was a thread that leads to helpful and knowledgeable bitcoin or crypto resources, that'll help teach them more about bitcoin. If they do not understand or learn about cryptocurrency, the points you stated here may not be useful to them. Unless for the bounty campaign, which will also end up being detrimental to their stay in the forum. And you didn't add the effects of bounty campaign to a newbie, how it can affect the learning process of a newbie. When reaching out to newbies, it's always great to provide a way to solve a problem for newbies. It'll go a long way to teach other newbies, who will join the forum tomorrow.
2426  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Possible measures to stop online gambling addiction. on: September 09, 2023, 09:44:16 PM

Yeah, even those content creators in fb they are also promoting gambling at the end of every vlog or in the middle, many creators now are doing that because they are being paid so big so even that is not registered in government still they are doing that and worst thing is they did not check if that gambling game has a good or bad feedback they just do it without hesitation because of money.

The gamblers will promote the gambling from all the social media which included facebook,Instagram and even forum. The gamblers also promote in the you tube,So the gambling sites was get into the eyes of all gamblers around the world. When you feel of online addiction is hard by your friends,it’s important to analysis the gambling addiction. The workers of all social media will loss their money in gambling and they start to earn from spending time in the social media.

A good number of them are not gamblers, they just focus on posting contents. That's why most of them promote any gambling project, regardless of its status. Due to the harm it can cause to the account, some youtubers don't promote carelessly. Because promoting scam gambling sites will affect the traffic of that account and reduce trusts too. Thereby, ridiculing the influencer's page. I've seen youtubers that place legitimate ads, beneficial to their subscribers. This kind of youtubers I expect to be continues practitioners in the niche they're teaching or lecture about on YouTube. However, if a person loses all their savings on gambling and forge ahead to launch a YouTube channel, such a person is most likely to promote anything for money, become a bad actor.
2427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: History of Cryptocurrency on: September 09, 2023, 06:19:47 PM
OP, you would have made some changes or editing of your text or carryout more research. The first sentences are not well thought out, the syntax or word arrangement doesn't lead to a meaningful  paragraph. I hope you'll read from the examples presented by members here, then make corrections. The pizza day is well celebrated by bitcoiners, but its not the first transaction to happen in the bitcoin network. It's bad that your emphasis about the history of bitcoin is all wrong and not encouraging to be read by a newbie. However the comments here corrects the misleading aspect of your thread.
2428  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling by financial dependents. on: September 09, 2023, 05:45:14 PM
Teenagers believe they get freedom when they start making their own money as you can't control them by telling them how to spend the money. Your nephew should be watched because he might be heading down a path that might be dangerous and will need your help.

Having a helicopter parent is not conducive for teenagers. And looking at the scenario, the boy may not be what the mom thinks he is, since OP as a gambler examined the boy and thinks he is a responsible player, I don't think the boy is getting deceived. It'll be nice if OP spends time discussing gambling with the boy or watch the boy play games. Then, he'll be able to understand what exactly could be the boy's problem if there is any, and he'll make the mother aware of how to treat her son. A teenager can get into trouble if they've got no gambling guidance from somebody who is close to them.
2429  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips on How to Stay Safe and Avoid Scams When Gambling Online on: September 09, 2023, 02:41:37 PM
If an online casino is registered offshore many players won't trust it because most times they can disappear with people's money and could be found nowhere. Hence, for a cryptocurrency or bitcoin casino to be trusted, it must have to earn it, through positive reviews from players, and reliable customer services to solve players problems. Like other members said, kyc is now needed to play games online. So, the exact privacy players are expected to gain on bitcoin casinos is no longer there. The only difference between the cryptocurrency casinos and other online casinos is the payment and withdrawal method. It can be a hassle to withdraw our earnings to banks, in some cases, extra banking documents are required by the casino, which goes down to extracting private information from the players. In cryptocurrency casinos, such information as banking detail is not required during withdrawal.
2430  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ambivalent attitude to gambling on: September 09, 2023, 04:51:34 AM
No gambler treated gambling as entertainment all the time he is playing, there will always be a time of changing or shifting your mindset, we are tempted to be like that, we are just humans and tempted to be greedy especially when money is involved.
It's mean your self control skill is bad and you need to think what's the reason your mindset is changed. I was a gambler who gamble for money, but mostly I didn't achieve my goal and I'm not happy with the result. After that I learn to change my mindset to gamble only for entertain, regardless of the outcome is, I always happy since gambling is fun. Until now my mindset is never changed and gamble is always to entertain for me.
You are right, but I still will agree with what coin-investor said , he is actually right, I myself I gamble mostly for entertainment, but if we must be honest with each other, we all will have to agree that any gambler who claims to gamble for entertainment all the time is liar and living in self denia.

In as much as gambling is solely a recreational way of having fun  or one entertaining him or her self, as long as it is possible to win money in the process of entertaining oneself, there will always be times when the gambler will be tempted to focus on making some money rather than pay attention to the entertainment part, this is just normal with every human, there is no need saying otherwise.

Making money will always stay at the back of our mind, when gambling. Playing for fun, with multiple losses in a day, doesn't sound well. The fun follows up with winning. Even comp players still expect the win, despite the free room and food offered them, which is naturally fun. Like you pointed out, the mindset can swing differently, to the winning essence of gambling, even for the fun players. Winning more money is tempting and it's considered the aim of every gambler. The playing for fun idea, always suits the local casinos; in physical houses where other gamblers are present. It can be fun there, with the drinks, giving tips to the waitress and sharing ideas amongst other players. But, for players who stake online with personal devices, the fun is money. We play from home and no fun in losing money. I've also noticed that, playing for fun helps to boost our confidence, in gambling. It's true, it can facilitate the playing method of any gambler. Yet, if it doesn't work out, the player can't help it, but stop playing at the moment, because the true happiness and fun is not coming; money. Most times the game is shifted to some other time, when we think may be better with some luck on our side.
2431  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My decision on bitcoin on: September 08, 2023, 10:14:37 AM
Investing on bitcoin depends on you, the investor, nothing else. What you think would work should be backed with extensive research before you throw in the first money into bitcoin. What matters is watching how the market price is moving. Whatever happens when you invest, if it occur to be losses, nothing can be done about it. That's why, it's advisable to invest what you are able to lose. It's not a get rich quick scheme. One thing for sure, the price will increase or decrease, if you want to profit do not fidget when the price goes down. Keep on holding on to it. Many investors still hold their bitcoin regardless of the market price. I'd say it's a good decision and a lot to learn from the investment. The best time to invest, can't be predicted. The chance of correctly predicting such, is low.
2432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bank vs Crypto: Are they opposites? on: September 08, 2023, 10:00:04 AM
Ordinarily banks issue payments and savings, similar to what cryptocurrency is about. But, there are multiple differences between the both. Cryptocurrency transactions have nothing to do with banks. Bitcoin as a network keeps record of all transaction in the blockchain and users can access the transaction histories using explorers. It's open for everyone to see. Banks on the other hand, don't have a place where customers can see what another account is doing with their funds. Only the banking authorities have access to individual accounts. That's is contrary to bitcoin, where a specific address can be examined, though the owner is not known, to find where a transaction was sent to and the amount removed from the address. Bitcoin use private keys and digital signature to access funds stored on the blockchain; input and output. Signatures are used on banks too and the facial recognition, that's for inside bank transactions. But, no private keys whatsoever is needed in banks. Unless banks have started looking out to implementing such features. Cryptocurrency and banks are two different financial systems, where fiats are converted to cryptocurrency and vice versa. But, in a transaction where both parties don't need fiat, its crypto to crypto without any third party. And, it's necessary not to forget that p2p is the primary aim of cryptocurrency, which keeps it far different from banks.
2433  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Success or Fail? - Talking about Gambling as a major income on: September 08, 2023, 09:38:55 AM
Actually it's not about the fun only, if not many people wont be into gambling, they will call it a waste of time, people get serious with things that can make them money than things that can give them some fun.

It's like playing video games all for fun and some people will ask what you are getting out of video games, but if you can make money from it they will want to join too.

I like Slots because they are easier to play but they are also risky, you can't keep having fun and keep losing money, that fun will go south on you and your good mood will be ruined, the casino is a home that gives fun mixed with winning and losing, so it's on we gamblers to be smart about it.

Know when to stop and know what you can afford to lose, be a responsible gambler, that's all.

Every player's response to losing money in casinos is different. Many players when they're done playing for the day, when asked, how did it go? give a frowned face because they lost their money. The fact that gambling is fun, most times refers to those who won for the day. It's great to see it as a fun place, but the truth remains that deep down losing money to an extent, regardless of how and where we lost it, is not funny. Players keep going back to gamble because it's to them like a daily activity and soon or later they get used to it, lose or win they're happy. Which means playing for fun depends on how long you've been into gambling; understanding how it works. Yet any day they stake and lose above their average income, the player can't help, but go sad thinking about their mistake. For instance, if a person lodge in cheap hotels they may not think about the money lost paying for those rooms, but when they spend such money on expensive hotels, they tend to think about it to an extent. That's how gambling works, losing big can as well alter the fun and happiness, compared to losing smaller amounts.
2434  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: September 08, 2023, 09:05:59 AM
Maybe we have different views on gambling. But it seems to me that for society it doesn't matter if you are a good gambler or if you have an addiction and lose all the time, you will still cause bad emotions because of gambling. Society condemns such activities, so it is best not to tell anyone about it.

The OP stated things like belief and other societal factors that could result to such discrimination. It doesn't matter if the player is good or not, once everyone or family members discovers s/he engage in gambling activities the player will be seen as an irresponsible person. I've experience situations where gamblers are condemned to an extent that, when they go broke people around them refer to gamble as the primary cause of it. These societal attitudes are enough to make a gambler hide their gambling behavior. Definitely, a lot of people will celebrate when the player wins big, it's normal whenever we win people celebrates. Yet it doesn't remove the doubt that a gambler is wasting their money, especially when judged from the perspective of non gamblers. However, in those days before the institution of online gambling it was difficult to keep this a secret. Unlike today, players can carryout bets and nobody around them will know unless they open up to them; family and friends. We are advised to play responsibly and also take care of our other daily activities, even if we gamble, it shouldn't affect the next person who depends on the money for other things. For instance, gambling with family money or money meant for business.
2435  Economy / Economics / Re: for anyone interested in how much their personal data is worth on: September 07, 2023, 11:10:46 PM
Our personal data is meant to be protected, but, unfortunatly there is a market for it. Advertising companies pay so much for people's data, look at the total amount per demography, those are high amounts. Among the sold datasets include DNAs. It's weird that people's DNA get sold to advertising industry giants. Hence, the companies in control of the datasets, collaborate with advertisers to target a pool of audiences that love specific or different kinds of products. What matters to them is targeting the exact audience for the products using their DNA, which reveals the type of products a family likes, diversifying to any member of the family. The market is boosting and top tech giants use this kind of marketing for different reasons. The data or DNA owners don't authorize these transactions, their data sold for cents or millions. That's very risky to the owners of the sold DNA and other sensitive information.
2436  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How bitcoin self custody will help reduce future bear market. on: September 07, 2023, 10:08:23 PM
Bitcoin holders are beginning to drive joy in the self-custody of their coins, and this has been reflected in the increase in Bitcoin movement from exchange to custodial wallets where the holder has 100% control.
I think so, if a good number of users hold their private keys they'll be lesser drastic fall of bitcoin price. Yet a lot of task is required here. These exchanges get hacked despite holding the keys that contains the funds of all who patronize the exchange. Self custody doesn't mean that a wallet can't be hacked, if the private key is carelessly stored. Hackers have multiple ways of accessing people's devices. Some users have their private keys stored on computers, written on different papers and not sure of the key's exact location. Thereby increasing the chances of getting hacked. If 90% of bitcoin users go self custody the loss of private keys and giving private keys to hackers by storing keys on sites and emails will definitely affect the loss of funds. Everyone can be thought about the risk of saving bitcoin on exchanges and they'll move to self custody, but they can't be schooled to always stay careful with their keys. Additionally, not every bitcoin user spend time reading about bitcoin.

I also ponder about what happens if I played the game with higher amounts and lose? Sometimes it feels like a mistake, but that wasn't our lucky day. I'll accept it and follow up on the next game, instead of imaging how it should have been. The best step is to take it the way it happened, and they'll be no regrets. The choice that led to your loss or earning less is also a choice. Playing responsibly is the goal, targeting bigger wins can result to a painful loss of money that may be difficult for the player to recover.

First thank you for adding me on the spreadsheet. Visited Utopia website, though hesitated to download the app on my device, but, when I did, was awed in surprise to see a well constructed ecosystem with friendly User interface and all facilities needed to run the ecosystem in a quality manner, such as emails and browsers with no outside relationship to sites that are not hosted within Utopia. This got my attention.

Idyll Browser: Amazes me, I looked up google and got an error message, and so, the only alternative was to find the problem. I joined the Idyll support channel where I learnt more about the browser. Tried to visit proxy.tt, but it seem to be down, because it didn’t load. I like how customized all the activities happening on the browser is limited to clear sites hosted on the Utopia ecosystem. It hands over complete authority to maintain security of transmitted data.

Channel Manager: is well organized with details of channels I’ve joined and shows online users. But, I’m wondering why, unlike other chatting platforms, Utopia didn’t permit direct messages to online users. Must conversations happen only through invitations? It’ll make the forum secure, if so, and less social. Quite good, channels are there for discussions, yet personal discussions still worth a lot in improving usage and time spent on site, especially when the airdrop, which serves this purpose, is over. However, I tried to see how the airdrop works, stayed online for quite a sustainable time, but didn’t receive any crypton. Are members selected randomly?

The airdrop: is highly beneficial to the Utopia ecosystem in attracting users and participants. As a new ecosystem with miners, the airdrop will send words on different social media platforms about the Utopia ecosystem; where people can chat, play games with friends and maintain total security.

Games: The both games are top notch, interesting and world games. A lot of players around the globe enjoy playing chess game and Poker. But the playing processes are quite not easy and simple to a newbie on Utopia Ecosystem. I’d suggest, for instance, users who are available to play chess get listed on a board, such that, players can choose who they want to invite or join in playing the game. Because, newbies need to find the UI very easy before there can participate, thereby keeping them on the app. Personally, how will I be able to play games if I don’t know any public key, that belongs to a chess player, to invite as friend or join my contact list. It abandons me with the thought of missing out on the ongoing fun.

Currency Swap: When I got to review this section, I saw Utopia to be an Ecosystem with an exchange between Crypton and Uusd, which can be used to trade outside the ecosystem. Hopefully, I expect more varieties of coins or assets that can swap in the Utopia swap section, to help attract users who can participate in the building of the Unique Ecosystem.

In a nutshell, Utopia completely gives to the cryptocurrency ecosystem what is rarely found in the market. Secure p2p messages, emails, sending cryptons etc. These are strong qualities, which I like and appreciate. I’d time to time visit the app to join the airdrop, once I get them as promised if I stay on the app. The growth of the Utopia ecosystem will be fast and the crypton coin will see a new all time high. Good Job!
