2422  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Robert De Niro revealed he may consider applying for Russian citizenship on: November 13, 2015, 09:18:02 AM
I guess it is good business idea to get citizenship fron low-tax place you have open businesses.
Also usa is not a dream anymore. So russia might not be best option there but still it is good.

The very rich like De Niro don't have high tax problems in the West, they give their money to accountants to help avoid it.
The USA was certainly a dream fulfilled for De Niro and his family, third generation immigrants turned classic arty libs who would no more move to Putin's Russia than fly to the moon.

A total non story, crude propaganda from the ganstas, trying for credibility they're never going to get.
2423  Economy / Speculation / Re: Did you sell above 400$? on: November 12, 2015, 09:42:58 PM
I sold at 370, 400, 430 ,460 and 490, 10% of my holding at each level and would have continued selling till I had 10% left.
I started my buyback at 360 (filled) and hopefully the balance at 330 and 300.
If that is successful then my coins, bought over the last year, will effectively be free.

Buy when no one wants something, and sell it back when they do.

Having a "Hero" account just means you've been here for quite a long time (or bought it).

If you have a particular interest, like the guy you're talking about has, then yes it can get tedious sorting thru essentially meaningless threads like yours, especially if they are carrying a sig, to try and find something relevant and interesting.
I mean, c'mon, there was no need for you to start that thread, it only rehashes what is being said in a hundred other price speculation threads.
At least post a chart, or bring something new to the table.
Or don't bother.
2425  Economy / Speculation / Re: MMM ponzi effects? on: November 12, 2015, 01:00:47 PM
My question is, MMM has any associated with Bitcoin?

Yes, MMM Global requires a deposit payment made in Bitcoin to buy Mavros (MMM tokens) and play the give/receive game.

MMM doesn't use Bitcoins only, they also use Bank to Bank Transfers but other MMM members don't want the Bank to Bank transaction since it will require them to go to the Bank or use a mobile app and their personal information will be known. That's why majority uses Bitcoin. There are members of MMM that uses a fake name and have multiple accounts.

On MMM Global, there is only a Bitcoin option. The bank option doesn't work.

"Pause Mode" is what happens, purely at Mavrodi's discretion, and has happened in the past. He just freezes conversion of Mavros into anything real for a fixed period of time. I have read that MMM Russia is currently "paused" until the New Year, but can't confirm it.

Where did you read that?

I can't read Russian but a Google translation might be semi-comprehensible. Everything I hear about MMM is founded on rumors, there are no sources of facts I can find. As it's based in the East it's shrouded in mystery, and I can't figure out how to get any reliable facts apart from joining it by paying the minimum possible Bitcoin fee.

The you tube link is private and I can't read it but I have no reason to doubt the poster.

I don't know what they are talking about, but I'm sure they funding MMM ponzi through btcchina

BTW, today founder of mmm ponzi Sergey Mavrodi declared "pause mode" (freeze withdrawals) in mmm Russia until NY.

He's having some trouble with his new customers victims already, there was an alert on MMM Global this morning warning of people trying to scam by direct contact, pretending that transfers had been made.
I thought I'd screenshot it, but I didn't  Embarrassed
2427  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buy low or sell high. What is better? on: November 11, 2015, 09:34:23 AM
The reason most traders use some sort of technical analysis is to make sense of meaningless words like "buy low"  and "sell high".

After the bubble to $1200, $600 would have looked 'low' and been a bad buy. The same in the early days, $5 would have looked 'high' after trading in cents, and selling 'high' then has mentally scarred a lot of early adopters.

Tl,dr: 'Buy low, sell high' is a meaningless phrase used by people who don't know what they're doing and are almost guaranteed to lose money.

Where does the main man siphon off his money if it's all peer to peer?

It's peer to peer via conversion into Mavros, MMM's centralized tokens/coin, the exchange rate for which is determined by the admin.

Mavro is a conventional unit for measurement of participant's contribution in MMM. For instance, if a participant has granted $100, he receives 100 mavro-dollars. Possible Mavro’s growth rate is 30% per month. The amount of mavros in the participant’s PO shows the maximum amount of assistance he can ask for. For example, if the participant has 100 mavro-dollars, he can ask for $100 assistance. The number of growing mavros and progressive calculation of the amount of help can be seen directly in your PO in the section “Mavro”. Attention! Mavro is not a currency, it is not any kind of debt obligation or other form of financial assets. With mavros, you can’t buy any goods or services. At any time the number of mavros, rate of growth and the types of mutual-aid programs can be changed in the interest of the stability of the Community in order that participants continued to get help.
2430  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Robert De Niro revealed he may consider applying for Russian citizenship on: November 10, 2015, 10:31:50 PM
De Niro was opening another one of his part owned Nobu Japanese Restaurants for the megarich in Moscow.
He was being polite at the press conference, that's all.
Putin might like to add him to his collection of famous trophy westerners like Depardieu and Jones Jr., probably why the story's being spun by the Russian media, but De Niro's a thru and thru Obama supporting Democrat.
2431  Other / Meta / Re: Are we allowed to discuss MMM? on: November 10, 2015, 08:29:32 PM

I understand that direct links aren't exactly welcome as the forum is being overwhelmed with outright spam promoting MMM however I think that MMM is a very interesting topic for discussion. Are we allowed to discuss it without linking to the website?

I'm interested on sharing some screenshots as well as videos of actual participants talking about it.

I'm more interested on discussing what effect it has on bitcoin's economy as well as society.

It's quite difficult to quantify how much effect MMM China has had on the price of Bitcoin, there are many opinions but precious few facts.
I've attempted to find out through direct contact with exchanges and posting here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1238326.0 but no luck with actual figures.
There are quite a few vids of MMM participants talking about it on YouTube, several thousand.

Post about it by all means, but without quantifying the effect it will just be an opinion post, a magnet for sig spammers to rephrase the same thing many times, and of course MMMers to earn their 2.667% per task for their Mavro Extra.

Yeah, I clearly didnt do my research properly before hand. Oh well, we all make mistakes and this is how we learn.

Honestly, my first impression of Bitknock is a good impression.

Pretty much the same impression I got of Genesis-Mining, which I was originally going to invest into until I saw what their fees were.

I am mainly asking about BitKnock because a friend of mine invested $4400 into it. They have payed out and you can also sell your hashing power.

But it could also very well be a Ponzi Scheme. The site seems very professional, support is fast and they actually give an address.

I'm trying MinerFarm now after seeing many good reviews, starting off with a much smaller amount though.

Re:Bitknock, any business that requires a referral to sign up is a scam.

2433  Economy / Services / Re: Order anything from Amazon.Pay in Bitcoins.80% off!! on: November 09, 2015, 05:54:32 PM
If you want to buy anything from Amazon.com, contact me I will order it for you.
Pay me in BTC
I won't ask you for the address, you can pick it up from the nearest store!
Escrow accepted too!

Let me get this clear: if I want an Amazon item that costs say $375, I give you the details and 0.2BTC to an escrow, then when I confirm that I have collected it locally the coin gets released to you?
Which countries do you offer this for?
2434  Other / Meta / Re: a way to stop signature spammers by punishing the campaign managers on: November 09, 2015, 11:08:37 AM
Why not trial a simple limit based on activity/post ratio for anyone carrying a paid sig?
Whenever I see above about 6:1 and check them out, it's usually contentless repetition. It would certainly make people think twice before posting crap.
2435  Economy / Economics / Re: Shall I hold or invest with %12.5 premium per year ? on: November 09, 2015, 08:15:11 AM
Do you need to put the money all at once? Otherwise you could use your monthly fiat income you would use to rebuy the bitcoin to put in that investment.

What country are you from? Sounds like a European one with the banking guarantee.

Most systems "guarantee" their banks' deposits, I'd be interested to find 12.5% in Europe.

I just look at OP being a permabull and then being locked in to fiat, BTC free, for the next six months and think "Keep the faith brother".

2436  Economy / Economics / Re: Shall I hold or invest with %12.5 premium per year ? on: November 08, 2015, 11:27:08 PM
Good luck whatever you decide, I would just point out the obvious and say that if your fiat inflation is say 10% then your real return is not 12.5%, but 2.5%.
Given your permabull stance, I would stick with Bitcoin personally. Moon, and all that. Smiley
2437  Economy / Economics / Re: Shall I hold or invest with %12.5 premium per year ? on: November 08, 2015, 11:14:24 PM
Hello all,

I've good sum of bitcoins, and they represent good sum as well in my local currency.

I was thinking about selling all my bitcoins, lock that fiat money in investing certificates in my bank where I get %12.5 premium per year and buy bitcoins every month (it will take some time to re-buy again all my bitcoins, but not that long, could be 1-2 years as I will include my fiat salary as well).

Or, shall I hold and keep holding ?

If you were me, what would you do and why ?

Thanks in advance.

If you feel the need to do something, do 50/50.
As you already have been a bitcoin buyer, you are presumably bullish on the price. What do you think Bitcoin will be trading at in a year's time?
What is your local currency and your national economic situation, and how do you see it developing over the short term?
12.5% is globally pretty high in these days of Central Bank money printing, a rate like that implies that there are inflationary aspects to your national economy or weakness in its currency.
It sounds good, but not if inflation eats it up.

The only country that comes to mind paying that is Egypt. I'd stay out of holding too many EGP atm.

Unless your posts start consisting of more than you salivating about 'latest pump', you might find your post count going down, not up.
2439  Economy / Lending / Re: 2btc requested in pa with vehicle title as collateral on: November 08, 2015, 09:48:06 PM
You haven't said how much interest you are prepared to pay.
With the current volatility of Bitcoin two months is a very long time, especially if the means of repayment involves you receiving dollars and converting them.
Say the BB value of $2100 is real, knock off 33% for a quick sale leaves collateral of $1400 for 2BTC. What happens when/if BTC hits $700 a week into the loan?

Just as a matter of interest, if you transfer the title, is your insurance still valid? How does that work in the U.S.?
2440  Economy / Speculation / Re: MMM ponzi effects? on: November 08, 2015, 07:33:19 PM
Bitcoin made rocket after 8/10 - after opens Gemini exchange. So, I'm sure what MMM have only collateral effect for current trend.

is MMM still paying?
automatically paid from random users, rather than central fund.
this is the strategy to scam money.

If there is a rumour about the collapse of the MMM scheme, will the players withdraw the money like a bank run? I am sure MMM is at its tipping point or not. Very interested to know the effect of a rumour.

"Pause Mode" is what happens, purely at Mavrodi's discretion, and has happened in the past. He just freezes conversion of Mavros into anything real for a fixed period of time. I have read that MMM Russia is currently "paused" until the New Year, but can't confirm it.
