2421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: what a screw you to AMD users from Nicehash on: September 01, 2017, 08:08:28 AM
So who are the actual buyers of the hash from nicehash, and others?

I've bought BTC hash from nice hash in the past, but that was part of a speculative lottery-type pool.  Who is actually buying alt-coin hash?

The people that place bids in the Nicehash marketplace are the hash buyers - when their bid is high enough to go active.

Copy your gridcoinresearch.conf and wallet.dat files to a different spot, the copy them back after a fresh wallet install, SHOULD work.

Founder Edition cards do NOT have very good cooling - I would strongly recommend AGAINST them for mining usage.

2424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Innosilicon's A4 Dominator, 1.2W/Mhs 14nm ASIC and miner, open for Partners on: August 31, 2017, 11:59:51 PM
BTW, I don't think their website is up to date. Looking at the A4 page:

Quote
Innosilicon A4 Dominator
35.29 LTC ( or 1500 USD; 0.5692 BTC )
Please pay 70% to pre-order for October to November batch.

That places the value of BTC at $2635...

Yeah, I'm currently in discussion with that issue with them about a pre-order I placed earlier this week.

Their initial suggestion was "wire transfer" but I don't have ACCESS to wire transfers (one down side of credit unions, sometimes they don't offer some of the "fancy services" the big banks do - but on the other hand they also don't usually have the "fancy fees" either).

Their published specs for the CHIPS in the A4 suggested they could put together a higher-performance miner - at a significantly higher cost due to the need to use a lot more chips to be able to run them at a lower voltage.

I also suspect the Futurebit Moonlander v2 is using the chip out of the A4, but that's not been confirmed or denied yet....

We are team #1!  Cool

And we should very soon break the 1G PPD barrier.

I don't count August 23 or August 25 for that (Stanford stat database issues) but we're on pace to hit 1 GigaPPD "legitimately" today.

(edit) and yes, August 31 was the first time Team Curecoin exceeded 1 Giga PPD legitimately - 1,014,xxx,xxx points.

Now we need to get Vorshalk to quit depressing the yield with his far too large folding farm and get to working harder on INCREASING the value of CureCoin.

To put it bluntly Vorshalk, your farm has got quite a few folks PISSED and at least a couple of folks in the EVGA folding forum have stated they no longer are folding because of it.

2426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: August 31, 2017, 11:48:49 PM

The build is very specific it will be a water cooled build

Goal is 3 water cooled 1080tis or maybe water cooled 1070's
and 1 water cooled  ryzen 1800x

done riser free.

Water cooled I can see for folks that need "in house" or "in apartment" QUIET builds, but it's going to be a fair bit more expensive than air-cooled.

You might want to think about a 4-card no-riser rig with your old favorite Biostar board (or one of the other similar options) with the 4 x 16-bit slots since you CAN cram water-cooled cards in tight without a lot of heat management worries - just need to have the waterblocks on the GPUs exit the barbs out the top like the EVGA Hydro Copper https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=11G-P4-6399-KR

Not sure why you want to use a Ryzen for the CPU though, trying to find a Ryzen motherboard with 3 usable 16-bit slots is a nightmare and I've yet to see 4 usable on a MB to date.

I do grant that pricing for Ryzen as a CPU has come down a lot since they introduced the 1200 and such, but it's still a pretty premium to pay on a mining machine over a low-end AMD or G-series Intel solution.

Hello phil and citronick and everyone.

Can you guys share your thoughts / insights on this:

I have the option to purchase a couple of Bitmain Antminer D3 for USD4,000.00 with late November delivery.

Based on current difficulty and prices, breakeven is in 30days at daily earnings of USD141.00.

I am worried about the increase in difficulty by November delivery i.e. 10x current difficulty such that daily earning drops to 14.10.

Is the 10x difficulty increase highly improbable?

I'm estimating close to a 10 jump by the end of OCTOBER, when most of the D3 models that have currently be sold are due to have been shipped - and that's with no idea how many IBeLink or Pinidea units will have shipped by then.
Then the Innosilicon A5 shipments start happening (but at the WAY HIGH price of the A5, I don't anticipate that unit having a huge short-term impact despite it's efficiency and performance).

Very nice review, seems to be a good competitor for the L3+

Wonder how did do 900W @28nm instead of Antminers 800W @16nm...

Really would like to get my hand on some of these Wink

Also send you a PM
PM replied.

I'm pretty sure that BM1485 chip in L3+ is 28nm node process  too.

L3+ is 28nm process. I've asked from Bitmain a couple of month ago.

That's VERY hard to picture given it's performance vs the Titan, A2, and Alcheminer (which were all 28nm as well).
It's even HARDER to picture vs the A4 (which is specified as 14nm yet has LOWER performance and efficiency as used in the A4 miners).

I'd bet a LOT that the L3+ is 14/16nm tech.

The *D3* on the other hand I can believe being a 28nm design, especially with the size of that last batch Bitmain sold of those.
2429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best Closed or semi closed gpu mining case to get? on: August 31, 2017, 11:20:52 PM
Don't some cases have built in air filters that can be removed to clean?
That helps with some of the dust, doesn't it?

Many do, though they tend to reduce airflow a LITTLE even if you keep them clean on a regular frequent basis.

On the other hand, unless you are in a VERY HIGH dust enviroment with high humidity a no-case rig setup doesn't accumulate enough dust to matter for a long time.

2430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone mining on AM4 B350? (can't do 4gpus) on: August 31, 2017, 11:17:13 PM
Windows 10 isn't a good choice for mining on in the first place - 7 is noticeably more stable at this point and a lot more "settled", if you decide you HAVE to use Windows for a mining machine.

Most AM4 motherboards at this point (possibly all) DO include drivers for Windows 7, even though Mickey$loth might not "officially" support the use of Ryzen on 7 for stupid monopolistic reasons AMD has seen the light as have the MB makers and DO in fact support it at least for now.

2431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: August 31, 2017, 03:51:52 AM
well,

Antminer L3+, 504MH/s
Shipping :1-10 Nov

USD 1,870

so it's more expensive than last batch? i guess Jihan believes that the litecoin price will be higher significantly in the next three months...
Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Less expensive in terms of LTC (last batch was still 40 LTC as I recall) though....

BTW BenRickert - more than "half" of the batches of L3+ sold to date have been delivered, they've been selling them for several MONTHS after all.
It's the D3 that is facing a 10x multiplication of difficulty by the end of October.
The L3+ is probably facing at most a doubling by the end of November (when the current batch is shipped up and running), even WITH Innnosilicon A4 sales helping drive it up some and the potential of the BW.com L21 adding more when it starts shipping.

People are so SPOILED by the last few months, achieving 100% ROI in 6 months used to be Bitmain's NORMAL pricing target on their miners - though to be fair they weren't so backlogged as to be able to sellout batches for "2 months+ down the road" in those days.

2432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fifth alt coin thread last four got too big. on: August 31, 2017, 03:36:22 AM
Don't matter what your normal ping is when they flat out don't have the bandwidth to handle the load when they put out a new batch.

2433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: August 31, 2017, 03:30:17 AM
WOW. Sold out in 18 mins.

Keep checking last time they added more units in 1 hour because ppl who didn't pay etc...

Gotta wonder how many of the "didn't pay" types couldn't get into the order process TO pay, as broken as Bitmain's website gets when a batch goes up and for how LONG it does.

2434  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: August 31, 2017, 03:24:48 AM

LOL, it's November AND it's more expensive... 1870 USD. Assholes.

Direct link in case someone hates money Smiley

Less on a LTC cost basis, it WAS 40 but this batch was "only" 25.something - for the lucky few that could actually get an order placed.

20 tries? I was well over 100 by the time it finally let me back in - only to find it was now out of stock.

2435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: August 31, 2017, 03:21:15 AM
Their page was so damned broken it took me 6 minutes just to get two in the cart - then it wouldn't stay connected long enough to let me FINISH the damned order.

I dunno how ANYONE manages to buy anything from them.

Guess I'll be going Innosilicon after all.
2436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fifth alt coin thread last four got too big. on: August 31, 2017, 02:11:50 AM

Intel SoC design, but the spec on it claims it only has 4 PCI-E 2.0 lanes (and it doesn't USE a "chipset" so it's not able to gain any from that).

I'd guess they're using a multiplexer chip to get the extra lanes for the M.2 socket some of the PCI-E sockets.

Spacing is a bit tight, but doesn't look much if any worse than most "2-5-7" motherboards between the first 2 cards.

2437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FutureBit Moonlander 2: The Most Powerful and Efficient USB Stick Miner! on: August 31, 2017, 01:56:39 AM
I didn't see it addressed in the OP.  For those people who wish to order 50+ sticks, how will you be taking payment?

We are all here for one reason, and I'm building these to advance and spread mining/crypto to as many people as possible so you can take a guess on the only form of payment I accept Wink

It's Scrypt, so any Scrypt coin should work?

Biostar has a newer option for mining riser rigs.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138449&cm_re=btc-_-13-138-449-_-Product

Seems to be an updated variation on the ASUS H81 theme.

Try NOT bumping the core up - 1070 on ETH doesn't need it, it needs the memory bump.

The cooling system on the Zotac isn't QUITE as good as on the EVGA SC models, but it's not bad for as much smaller a card as it is, and for machines in cases it does a much better job tossing a LOT of the hot airflow out the back instead of circulating it AROUND the case.

2440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: what are the best coin to mine with those GPUs on: August 30, 2017, 09:17:01 PM
Those are all Tahiti-based GPUs, ZEC works well on them but isn't always the best option.

They are NOT good ETH miners on a comparative basis.
