You really need to have your bitcoin adr. visible on OP or signature... Most people don't have time and patience to PM you.

The address is in OP il make it bigger though... I just didn't wanna come off as just a complete beggar but apparently that is what people are saying to do so thanks for the advice!

10.000 doge is on the way to you. Good luck with the project, I hope you will get the camera.
Cheers!

2448  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is that OpenSSL bug enough for using bitcoin alert? on: April 09, 2014, 12:42:55 PM
I believe this is a situation where that would be good. I mean, why have the function, just to not use it?
It could save many people from losing their money.

Because it's an indirect exploit, hackers are not going to target individuals they will attack sites/servers etc (Mostly Linux) and alert feature is useless unless they are using alert-notify function and windows IIS is not vulnerable

Correct me If i am wrong.
They will probably mainly attack servers, however, there could be attacks against private persons as well.
I assumed that there would come up as a pop up window? I only know about alerts from Litecoin-QT.

doge-qt used the alert when the blockchain forked 1 month ago, the alert said "Upgrade immediately to version 1.6".
Very nice feature (if used).

2450  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Importing private key into Bitcoin Core 0.9.0 on: April 08, 2014, 10:53:53 AM
I believe I understand Bitcoin-Core correct then.

I have not been experimenting with generating compressed keys yet, but I get the idea about lowering the tx size.

Thanks for the reply, cheers!
2451  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Importing private key into Bitcoin Core 0.9.0 on: April 08, 2014, 09:54:11 AM
I was wondering about how private keys are stored in wallet.dat.

I use bitcoin core 0.9.0 as my hot-wallet, I have a series of public keys i use for different purposes.

If I import a private key with the command: importprivkey  (e.g. a selfgenerated vainity key)
Will this key just be added to wallet.dat in equal terms as the other private keys, which bitcoin-core has generated?

What happen if this newly imported private key later get compromised? This will compromise funds send to the corresponding public key, right?

I know I have almost answered the questions my self, just want to have a confirmation that I understood the application correct.

Is there any good know practices about using vanity keys? Should they be also be kept separate from you other keys, or is it find to use bitcoin-core to manage all your private keys?

I will recommend that you put your BTC address so it is visible on the OP, or in your signature.
(Sometimes are people in a generous mood, and if they are making a bitcoin transfer anyway, they might add a few satoshi in your way too).

Also consider getting a DOGE wallet, and add a DOGE address.
People who uses DOGE is more likely to send a few DOG in your way.

I think it is more easy to gather 1000 x 0.001 BTC, than 10 x 0.1 BTC.

I am happy for all of you and BC.
Unfortunately I sold mine long time ago @ 1600, well I needed the btc for another investment, so I do not feel sad about it.
But I am still following the progress of the coin.
2454  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.6 HARDFORK MANDATORY UPDATE on: April 07, 2014, 12:40:10 PM
is possible price increase to for example 1000 satoshi in future?

Of course it is , but it depends on so many factors right now that we won't see it too soon.

we got 2 factors may push price to 200 or more .... my guess

1-Usd pair on cryptsy

2-Next halving

What is the block number for the next halving?
2455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help For cold storage on: April 06, 2014, 05:54:05 PM
Im in the same situation. I want to put my btc in a cold storage but I dont know if im gonna buy a computer or make a paper wallet.
Probably best to put it in a paper wallet. But how and what is best way to do this?

One way is like this:
https://bitcoinpaperwallet.com/
But then you only get 1 paper to get all of the bitcoin.

Another way is:
https://bitcoinarmory.com/
And there make a wallet. And use theirs 2/3 paper to recreate the wallet.
Then you can have 1 at the bank, 1 at home and 1 at someone you trust. Then you'll need 2 of 3 papers to recreate the wallet. A bit safer then the first suggestion.
(Think there even is a 5 of 7 alternative way as well).

The method I found most safe is :

1. Roll a dice 99 times (you will get a 99 digit base6 number), write the number down.
2. Download the html file from www.bitaddress.org to a usb drive.
3. Boot a PC, which is NOT connected to the internet.
4. Open bitaddress.org from the usb drive, type your base6 number into "wallet details" to convert to private/public adr.
5. Print or write down the keys.
6. Burn your paper with the base6 number and format PC.

Then do you have a pretty good paperwallet.

Cheers!

2459  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Custom Bitcoin address ? on: April 05, 2014, 10:19:32 PM
2^160 is such an unbelievable large number.

There are more oxygen molecules on the earth than 2^160.

It would be the same, as someone tags one single oxygen molecules, at a random time and place -  and then after search through all the oxygen molecules on the earth until you find the one that is tagged.
2460  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Custom Bitcoin address ? on: April 05, 2014, 08:36:10 PM
I will try for sure... out of curiosity.

Like I said, it made me wonder but it makes sense, there is a LOT of possible keys that start with 1Boat and has 34 characters !

Greater probability of all the oxygen molecules in the room your are sitting will go to the ceiling at the same time and you will suffocate as a result, then you finding that exact key.
