Can new users invest in the casino, or just those than had invested in the past (I remember some time ago that restriction existed, I don't know if it's still running)?
The BTC and ETH bankrolls are only available to people that have previously invested in them. All other coins are open to everyone.

I've forwarded your suggestions so far to wetsuit, keep them coming.

Yeah... There must be people who joined initially and won a Bitcoin and never came back to the site (but maybe they will). Has there been such story ever posted specific to this site?
Not that I know of. When I was too busy to keep up with what was going on in Bitcoin I left auto withdraw turned on, my referral link in my signature here and when I came back 2 years later I found 0.22 in my wallet.
|
|
|
I thought the claiming was automatic if you win? Am I wrong?
I think he meant not withdrawn. You can turn auto withdraw off if you want to. Also, we changed the signup procedure so you don't have to give a Bitcoin address anymore so there isn't an address to withdraw to unless you set one. I'm sure there are millions of accounts that only had one or two spins and have been abandoned but we can't know someone won't come back so it doesn't really matter.
|
|
|
By the way, it must be a few times that people win things and never claim them. Do you have statistics for unclaimed wins? I remember not so long ago there was that guy with 2 tickets who won something big.
I left my account for over two years without logging in. How do you want to define 'unclaimed'?

just the main problem has been most of them having pretty low bankroll turn over.
It is a matter of choice or preference whether that is a problem or not. You can see from looking at Lutpin's thread that the coins with higher turnover relative to bankroll size have indeed been more profitable. But that greater reward comes with a greater risk. A high roller can make a bigger dent in a smaller bankroll than a larger one. I made my first investment a couple of weeks short of 1 year ago in the Bitcoin bankroll and it is currently 10% in profit. That may not be spectacular but it is very good considering the level of risk involved.

Oh, I see
it means that you do not really get rid of them
Last week free rolls have been at 50% of the peak number and wagering volume stayed the same. Having said that there is a big spike in new signups in the last 2 days so they are trying again. There's a lot more to the way we've stopped them than I'm going to talk about here (I know they read my posts with interest) and I think most of those new accounts will get banned very quickly. What I'm saying is if we undo the changes we've made in terms of reductions and restrictions then we'll just go back to square 1. They only started playing the lottery because we made it very difficult for them to get to minimum withdrawal before we detected them. the last 2 weeks they took the lottery prize very prominently if you add a lottery prize last week to next week it's actually a good idea and surely many users are happy
but if you do that maybe the botnet will come back by randomizing the portion of the lottery ticket ownership for example, last week they dominated with ownership of tickets around 25,000 and that caused you and the team to detect them
then to avoid being detected from you, they will randomize the portion of the lottery ticket to be irregular I think you should save the lottery prize coin last week and distribute it after normal conditions
if I could, I would give an idea to really get rid of them but maybe I can't because I don't know exactly how botnets work.
There's a lot more to detecting them than just how many tickets they have. Now they know that we're not going to pay them if they win the lottery I don't think they'll want to try that again. It is hard to find them sometimes in amoungst 15 million accounts but it is very easy to manually inspect 10 accounts.

they will put more effort into defeating the systems we've developed Yes I think maybe they are there saying well if I spend 6 hours coding the bot to navigate this junction on the website I will get this pay out and its worth it to me. That is definitely part of it. Bots never get frustrated but bot operators do. We can't reverse the reductions and restrictions because they forced the bots to change their behaviour and wager to increase the rewards. We were then able to adjust the requirements to make it -EV for them. That's why the 'you got rid of the bots now please put the rewards back and remove the restrictions' argument doesn't work.

wow.......... it's good news that I've been waiting
If the botnet problem has been resolved, is there a plan to return all the rules like last year ? no restrictions on reward points and no prize reduction in free rolls
or will the rules remain like now ?
Those rules are part of how we got rid of a lot of them. Making it a -EV game for them means there is no incentive. If we put all the incentives back they will put more effort into defeating the systems we've developed.
Now I'd like some ideas from you. Part of making it a -EV game for botters was that we didn't pay the last persistent botter the lottery winnings last week. That means we've got a load of coins we want to distribute to genuine users. The idea I had was to add it to next weeks lottery prize pool to make it a super large payout. Any other suggestions?

Good to see that the fight against bots is going well!
@TheQuin: I have changed from job and sometimes I need to go to the USA (i live in Belgium). Will it form a problem when I will log in with a different IP? The (work) laptop makes use a vpn, does that form a problem?
The only problem would be using a public VPN service. If the IP address is listed as being a VPN address then it will be blocked from free-rolls unless you meet some wagering requirements. We allow high rollers to play from anonymously but not free players.

Wow, looks like you did too much good work on the bots. The 1st prize is very low for a Friday. { 0.43472280 BTC } but the ticket sales are on par with what we had prior to the bot invasion. ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) I would rather compete for a lower prize than having to compete with multiple bots. Send our regards and Thanks to Wetsuit for all his hard work. Guess it's time to buy more tickets again. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Says the guy who rolled his eyes at me when I told him that on Monday. I'd also like to thank a couple of people that contacted me with some useful information about how the bots work.

I do not think it's time to start releasing bitcoin in paper form. Not the time. The vast majority of people even involved in the cryptocurrency process will not know what a real paper bitcoin looks like and how to distinguish a real bill from a fake one. I think that it should take a few more years and over the years bitcoin in digital form will win at least part of the electronic market(e-shops). Only after that you can start talking about the bill.
Read the thread you fool. They are not paper and they use an encrypted NFC chip and smartphone app to distinguish a real one.

Maybe you just got unlucky with the IPs that you got and those were linked to something else like a vpn or a tor exit node that was known for it's "evil"... I think that's more likely thant wetsuit whitelisting a certain IP without someone PMming him.
Yes, sometimes the address lists have addresses incorrectly catalogued as being Tor/VPN/Proxy when they aren't really.
|
|
|
Yes, I changed the IP address
PM me your user ID and the IP addresses and I'll ask the admin to have a look to see what you did to get banned. very strange, but after I wrote to you, the next day I was able to play on the site, what is it connected with? Maybe my ISP came under suspicion, and then you realized that this was a mistake, and unblock it? You didn't send me a PM which means I don't know what the user ID or IP address are so I couldn't possibly know.

Total tickets till now : 301,044,641 Seems you really killed all of those bots. Nice job
I'm pretty pleased with that so far ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

hi thequin, i heard that Bots owner is stopped. is it?
As far as I'm aware there is more than one bot owner. I think the new systems I've been working with wetsuit to develop have caused a lot of them some problems. It would be unwise to think that bots are ever entirely defeated, this has been an ongoing battle for the nearly 5 years we've been around. As long as there is free money to be had there will be people trying to abuse it.

Well yeah it is, it's from a mining company. The interest you normally earn from a miner is normally less because of the large charge to produce the miner but it's plausible that you can get 0.3% per day in interest if they don't take very much profit from it and they then get the miners after the 30 days you funded them for...
I'll leave you to make your own investment decisions, but for me any business that claims to be able to almost triple your money in a year needs to be treated with a lot of scepticism.

I haven't received my $5 yet!
You only posted it yesterday. We batch them together and pay them every 7-10 days depending on wetsuit's availability.
