Ola: I've got it in my OneNote. As I said, I already contacted author of this text 3 weeks ago. Few days ago was published this text - http://www.forexminute.com/bitcoin/nxt-the-next-generation-of-cryptocurrencies-27867 - and it was retweeted to tenths of thousands people. Before we can write cool letters for businessmen, we need to get attention of geeks, cryptoenthusiastics and journalists, then we can show published articles to businessmen. Who wants to help with letters for businessmen, here is the link: https://nxtforum.org/nxt-promotion/letters-for/

ahh ok good, you are at least thinking in this direction, I don't think validation from geeks/influencers is necessary to get the businesses moving, business at least most that I know off are driven purely by profits. If you look at counterparty, there are already businesses lining up to issue shares using the protocol and counterparty is not very popular with crypto enthusiast at the moment due to the data storage issue

Any further info on these?
2442  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: April 10, 2014, 02:30:39 PM
It is based around the 90% forger getting penalised if he doesn't forge a block in turn. This is detected by the remaining 10% and the 90% has forging power reduced to 0. The 10% then effectively go to 100% of forgers and the dance continues.
This implies that even if the adversry skips forging only 11.1% of his blocks, he penalised so much, that his mining power reduces at least 9 times.

Edit: My last sentence is wrong. Having 90% of the coins, the adversary does not need to skip forging even a single block. Just orphan all their blocks, that's it.

You sound like a perfect candidate for the Transparent Forging tech subforum  Grin Grin

I'll try and get someone from the active discussions to come over and answer your questions...

The penalty is planned to last for only 1440 blocks (which will be 24 hours once fully implemented) then forging power returns. If the 90% miss the block the next time it is their turn, the same thing happens. The penalty isn't permanent or cumulative.

I don't want to get into a detailed discussion as I am not the right person to answer as I will put my foot in my mouth and CIYAM or CfB will come and give me a rap on the knuckles for it (probably smaragda actually, and it will be a kick in the teeth  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy he can have a temper  Wink)

Imagine someone is going to do a "51%" attack against Nxt and he owns 90% of all coins. The adversary must stop generating blocks for legit branch coz he won't be able to compete against 100% mining power with his 90%.
The adversary only needs to compete against 100% - (his)90% = 10% mining power => the adversary does not need to stop generating blocks for the legit branch.
How this could be published on the official NXT website?

It is taken from the discussion on transparent forging here  >>>> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=364218.0

He/She announced at the end of March 2014, along with customary tidings of forthcoming doom, that he/she would not post in the Nxt Megathread again. Apart from one or two additional posts very soon after, this is one prediction of Emule's that has come true.

Emule

Emule is a Nxt user who is, and always has been, extremely pessimistic about the future of Nxt. He/She can often be seen predicting a large fall in the price of NXT, which predictably do not occur when He/She claims they will. When the NXT price invariably falls, Emule will claim it was due to his/her selling action. On many, many occasions (25+ by some estimates) it has been shown that Emule's predictions don't come true and many have pointed out the poor logic behind telling people you are about to sell a large amount before you actually do (you could get better prices if you kept quiet). But Emule remains a tenacious member of the Nxt community. Emule is adamant that he/she is an original Founder who has millions of NXTs to Dump. Or sometimes that they are just a trader out to make a killing. All evidence so far suggests they are just a FUDster but only time will tell. Despite his/her stance and sometimes unbecoming behaviour (i.e. making assertions about the sexual orientation of other users mothers), he has become a loveable rogue and pantomime villain of the Nxt Megathread, even earning the nickname Elmo and often receiving tickle behind the ears when he makes an appearance. He/She announced at the end of March 2014, along with customary tidings of forthcoming doom, that he/she would not post in the Nxt Megathread again. Apart from one or two additional posts very soon after, this is one prediction of Emule's that has come true.
