New format? Never heard of this. Will have to do some research to find out how FIFA is changing rules for the next World Cup. This is really good to see and whole lot of excitement for the upcoming matches and have you seen how Japan team left their dressing room after beating Germany? I saw several videos on YouTube recently related to Saudi defeating Argentina and Japan defeating Germany and was blown away by the reactions of some of the crowd which makes sense since these are insane upsets. After a long time we have seen a batsman like Suryakumar Yadav, his hitting style and aggressiveness on field is phenomenal and different from today's batsman . He's everyone's favourite nowadays because of his batting and wonderful fielding.
He's the new ABD in the world of Cricket if you ask me. I remember one of his recent shots where he scooped a full toss ball behind for a six. He had to move towards it and made such a difficult shot look very easy. Hardik recently stated that he should have started playing international cricket several years back itself and I completely agree with him. The match absolutely turned on its head when Laura Harris played that innings of 44 runs from only 14 balls. She absolutely turned that match on its head. Eventually they won very easily. Can this man bluff after the win against Germany  The only thing goes through my mind when the match end, was this man. Anyways he still have so much long way until the final. That's an insane bet and he will 99.9% lose that one if you ask me. In their recent match with Germany, they did win fair and square, but the Germans were in possession majority of the time and we're unlucky on certain occasions. I don't really see luck favouring Japan consistently till the end in this manner. This is just one of those exceptional wins in this tournament. |

Yes, some teams that were considered favorites are somehow not convincing at this WC, maybe this is the result of self-confidence and underestimation of rivals or the omission of coaches to analyze the teams' games before the upcoming games, there is too much unpredictability, but this is actually good, but as usual it ends only with a short-term flash.
This kind of stuff happens all the time in FIFA World Cup tournaments to be honest. Did anyone expect Germany to decimate Brazil years ago on their own turf? I don't think so. Did anyone expect Italy to not qualify for this World Cup? I don't think so. These kind of variables are what make these huge tournaments truly interesting. However, these underdogs rarely progress through all the way to the finals as you mentioned. The closest that an underdog has come to the cup in recent years is Croatia who ended up losing in the final against France. |

Spain mauled Costa Rica and ripped them apart in both halves. 7 freaking goals while CR scored zero goals. Zero shots from their side makes them look even more miserable since they spent most of the time trying to defend.
Openings in their defense were visible throughout the game and Spain took full advantage of them. Felt like Spain were playing against CR in legendary mode in FIFA.

I watched yesterday's Netherlands-Senegal match. Even though Dutch won, Senegal played better than them in match. Well actually I think fair result would be match ending in 0-0. Sad to see Senegal players couldn't keep up 15 more minutes. Netherlands seem rather weak to me compared to other European teams, I feel like they may be eliminated in next round.
