I think the uncertainty of the future regarding security and Bitcoin is not enough to stop the draw of being part of money 'owned by no one' and that unites the world in a way that is of literal biblical proportions. "It's in Revelations people!"This alone makes the question of 'so what' .. not really mattering. The so what comes in the satisfaction of doing things different. I think

Is it possible to create an open source Bitcoin exchange, so we don't have to rely on any central authority (e.g. Mt Gox)?
I would like that to be an option, but I kind of enjoy the multiple exchanges as well. Keeps the market itself harder to do an overall tracking.

Agreed about the the amount of files, maybe it's a security thing for people in certain countries? I've just seen the posts for demonoid.me invitations all over this forum and I have like 0.001 bitcoins in my wallet so I if there are people who might it I could use the profit.
Fair enough ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I guess I can't put the cost of how hard/easy it is for one to get an invite versus what files are there (as Demonoid has surprised me with some content I could not find elsewhere). Good luck, this is inspiring if it works lol

I don't see it going anywhere because it's so inefficient compared to other types of mining that the returns don't come close to the costs. Even if it's just 30 watts or so for the CPU to do 1 mhash. If wikipedia averaged 100,000 users doing 30 watts each 24 hours a day, that's 72,000 kilowatt hours a day for 100ghash, or about $11k in electricity for $1500 in bitcoins.
I do not fully understand all the math behind things, so excuse my ignorance (and honestly I rather it be explained if possible), but I thought the theory behind doing something like this is the cost of such small amounts of whatever electricity being used over such a mass amount of computers would in fact make a difference and override the electricity used. Is the difficulty really at a point right now where this is not feasible even for Wikipedia?

I have been "into" Bitcoin for a bit (lulz) however I have not obtained any Bitcoin (I don't want to put my number in my sig and ask for donations, I do not want to believe that will work based on just the number in the signature.. but whatever). Point is, if I had something, I would throw it your way in support of this. People better hope that you finish this out and/or it inspires someone to create one as well. Thanks.

But isn't that against their TOS !?
And also super silly seeing how the amount of exclusive files to Demonoid versus most public trackers (and even some private ones, Bitsoup.org comes to mind), well the amount of files is not drastic enough to have people pay for an invite.
Then again, if someone sends you BTC for it, I guess that defies this way of thought

I would like to join the White List request please. I'm here on both business and pleasure, and to add to that just the growth of a beautiful thing ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I think a quick check on any and all of my posts can correlate that

Lets see your Microsoft Space Bucks buy you things off the Silk Road :p
Jokes. But kind of serious. This whole thread seems like troll bait.

Great poster, not really inviting to the common man though lol

Someone geek must work within Amazon to see what buttons must be pushed to get them to accept.
Having the Grocery section of Amazon open to Bitcoin use, oh my, that can have everyone using their BTC on something they already buy.

I have both Waffles and What invites, are these things valuable around these parts?

I would suggest link stuffing the email with articles like The Economist or others that do more positive jobs showing what Bitcoin is, rather than it's abuse.
But when did non-sensationalist articles ever get attention? Maybe we should get them to write something like, "Brad Pitt films new move purely with bitcoin." Marketing success. This is why I would suggest positive links, The Economist is decent. Some others Bloomberg / Businessweek Bitcoins: Currency of the Geeks The untraceable new virtual currency is exploding in usage, notoriety, and value http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/11_26/b4234041554873.htmUSNews The Future of Money (Hint: It’s Virtual) http://money.usnews.com/money/blogs/my-money/2011/06/03/the-future-of-money-hint-its-virtualIt sadly takes just a few good headlines but too many things to click for someone to glance over the actual reading and get a vibe on things. Or so I think.

Really really for this project. More things like this need to be out keeping it super simple.

I like this idea, I hope this sparks similar letters to large foundations that take donations. It'd be nice to get a public piece saying a "non-terrorist" organization is taking this new digital currency. Anytime Bitcoin can be used for the power of good, people can see 'it's just like money' in the sense that it does it all. We just have to make sure it does do it all... see my sig

I had started mining when I first discovered bitcoin at 50 cents.
Oh don't we all wish we had something running on our computers churning out cash like it was the "All Advantage" days (Google it kids)

Amazon.com
This is a must. They have all the tangible goods I want.
"IRL" I would like to see any gas station be ballsy enough to take on BTC transactions on the fly (and possibly be able to convert change).
