2441  Economy / Exchanges / Re: FTX Exchange might be brought back online - Would you use it again? on: January 14, 2023, 02:25:30 PM
If not for what happened about Binance sales of its FTT token that resulted to panic and leading to the exchange hack, the exchange might not have been hacked.

Yeah, on his recent substack post, he pointed out CZ as one of the causes of FTX fall. However, I'm not impressed with people that blame others for their failure. Such a person won't gain my trust even when awarded a second chance. SBF one bit never accepted he caused it, he keeps blaming people; calling names. What's wrong with CZ taking what belongs to him.

I agree that funds should be returned to as many people as possible, but I do not agree that FTX should ever start functioning again after everything that happened.

Sam already vouched that he would use his personal funds in Robinhood to pay all the customers, I think he is doing all this to reduce his jail term and melt the heart of the people. I agree, FTX shouldn't function anymore, as they're no certainty to not seeing another mistake by them in the market. That would be a bad reputation for the cryptocurrency market. It won't help anyone.
2442  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk on the phone? on: January 14, 2023, 02:01:24 PM
Bitcointalk does not have a mobile view a lot of members to proposing to have this but some of them want to stick where it starts, there's nothing wrong with it, only way to make it is to pinch your screen to zoom in, also developing for the mobile view makes the hassle to the dev too since people here already used to it.

That's right. Bitcointalk does not have a mobile version, but you can still access it on your phone by using a mobile web browser. Some users prefer to use browser extensions such as "Reading Mode" or "Reader View" that can make the website more mobile-friendly. Additionally, you can try using a third-party app such as "Tapatalk" which allows you to access some online forums, although I'm not sure if Bitcointalk is still supported. I think I read somewhere that it doesn't work anymore.

Wouldn't the third party app be a treat to the user's password or private information in the forum. I've seen one in the forum that was said to be vulnerable in keeping user's details safe. I may not recommend third part apps for an anonymous a forum like BTT. However using the forum with a small screen resolution phone dulls the impression of staying to read responses word for word in the forum. I don't use it because of my eyes, those tiny writings on phone are not good for my sights. Though, when it's relevant to use the forum with a phone I'd do that, but that won't be when I have a PC around. The question should be would you use a phone to access the forum even when a PC is with you?

Playstore is not ideal for downloading applications, and always check the permissions requested by any app either downloaded on the official website, or on play or apple store.

- Jay -

Google is not concerned about what is listed on the playstore, as google is working hard to provide everyone with an answer to any app they're looking for in the playstore. But, to make things easier for users, the review page is there to tackle disputes like this. If a person reads through all the reviews written about an app (though some are lies) they'll find the truth about the app, whether it's real or fake. However many people don't care about reading reviews; such people get disappointed after downloading the file or app.

In a situation like this, users are advised to stick with the official website of chatgpt if they want to utilize their AI. Hence, some developers are also building apps with the GPT api, like the "ORIGINALITY", I think they are the sites listed on app store. Note: not all of them would be harmful to users. Everyone need to be careful with taking decisions. Moreover, openAI would be launching a premium version of chatgpt soon, maybe it'll reduce the spam. The site is lagging even at the moment.
2444  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Market Place for Multi Vendors on: January 14, 2023, 11:56:13 AM

Any advice welcome, we want to start something mainstream which shows the masses that bitcoin can be used
literally for anything.

Thanks guys

Out of the above lists by bitcoindust, It depends on your budget, but paid adverts would get you immediately what you need. Working with SEO would consume so much money, and the results won't manifest easily. Get untop with google Adwords and expose the site to both parties, store owners and buyers. Hence, staying in the market for long term should be your concern, as the market changes it could change for the good of bitcoin ecommerce stores, and you won't get left behind. Another strategy which is not on that list is email marketing. It'll be wrong for clients to visit a store with few store owners. With the help of mass email from an expert; getting the attention of store owners could be of help to your growth. Consider scrapping emails on IG or company websites. It's more effective and you'd see more results.
2445  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How wrongful can this go? on: January 14, 2023, 11:40:24 AM
I don't like giving out my private information for any project or platforms online and I have no choice but to provide wrong personal details in order to maintain anonymity, how bad can this get if anything happens to the website system?

Is this a wrongful approach to online casinos that requires KYC? Or any of you have a better solution? There must be someone like me on here that have their ways around this. Share ideas if you can.
Giving out your false information might cause you a trouble in the future, better not to put too much money on that so your account still be safe from any investigation.
If you are not ok with the KYC better not to gamble on that site at all and just go to other option since there are still site that are KYC free. KYC is slowly becoming a thing now, most of the site already requires a general information and that can allow you to gamble already there might be a limitation but at least you can start gambling by just giving out your full name.

No registered casino would want to be held responsible for money laundering, that's why KYC is a strict rule for most casinos. The government wouldn't mind if a casino is registered or not before taking them to court after getting caught of money laundering.

Although, it's possible for Op to achieve his tricks, but the possibility is thin and he might get caught. I'd say, Op, should focus on crypto casino; pays withdrawal in cryptocurrency other than bank. Casinos like Gamdom are so good without any KYC required for new users. But, if he persists about playing with one casino that accepts KYC then you can hire somebody or a partner to snap themselves and bypass their requirements. It works fine, but the person is meant to be available when next KYC is required. Some people don't care about giving out their data online, pay them to render such services to you.

2447  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin as a new part of the human way of life" on: January 11, 2023, 06:08:48 PM
What kind of contents do you have in mind for your book title? Indeed bitcoin is a new part of human life, but writing a book under the umbrella of other people's stories won't have any concrete background for your text. They should be a message you are passing to your readers then link it to the stories you'll get from people. They're only two kinds of stories in this market, just like the main aspect of the ecosystem bull and bear, success and failure. Stories will always be about " I knew about bitcoin and didn't invest ", " I wish I invested in bitcoin long ago " though, some people had a profitable experience of bitcoin. My story is about not hodling bitcoin when I had them at a cheap rate, when the price got to 50k I had a regret of not holding my coins a bit longer.
2448  Other / Meta / Re: bitcointalk forum vs OpenAI - ChatGPT on: January 11, 2023, 03:32:18 PM
The AI will leave a lot of people jobless.

There will still be people remaining around to control and monitor the AIs though.

EDIT: considering Google's entire business model is threatened by ChatGPT, I'm also sure they will update reCAPTCHA to be a kind of anti-AI service - besides, they don't have any AI startup of their own to juice up.

Despite the threat Chatgpt has on people's career, I like the fact that google is getting a strong competitor with a unique feature other than bringing rules now and then to suffocate webmasters. No more monopoly on the internet, people now have a choice of search engine with a touch of interaction with the machine. Though, google is not threatened in any form as the world biggest search engine they can decide to flag any content from their search engine regarding chatgpt and de-rank its site. I think the live sperm of chatGpt can be shortened with just a few line of code from google. They also have the money to buy off the company, and add it to theirs. However, I won't be surprised to know that google has a hand in the chatgpt AI, they're quite quiet about it.
2449  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Streamer and Crypto Guru Gambles Away Investor Funds on: January 11, 2023, 02:20:31 PM
I think the fellow fabricated this stories to cover for his carelessness on people's money. It's not possible that he spent all investors money on gambling, he must have used some for personal purposes. It's unfair how they're no trusts available in this space and how people rush to blame gambling for their failure to secure investors' money. He needs to payback affected people, sorry won't add a thing to their account or recover the lost money. He must have gotten addicted to gambling, but that doesn't help in explaining things to responsible people. It's nobody's business if he lost his own money at the course of his selfish interest to gain more profits out of people's money. My advise for investors is to forget about Influencers and work with genuine businesses that has lasted the test of time. A major part of Influencers online not only on twitch has derailed investors into believing that cryptocurrency is filled with untrustworthy people.
2450  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: at bitcointalk.org you have to be mentally strong. on: January 11, 2023, 01:42:09 PM
It'll be better to change how you think, for the good of your performance in this forum. They are no members here who derives happiness in criticizing anybody. Every post you see on here are responses and you are not expected to get positive responses from different people. Everyone has a unique response to every single post or thread in the forum. Instead of counting on the responses that doesn't align with your thoughts as criticism, call it the person's opinion and feel good. Because if you continue seeing members as critiques, it can jeopardize your stay here, which may not be good for your purpose here. Keep sharing quality information and endeavor to read all comments as responses no back lashes. Furthermore, no special need for mental fitness other than the average requirement of being able to read and understand. What you see here is nothing to affect your mental health. No bullies or hate speeches here. Having a disagreement on this forum is not enough criterion to melt down your happiness. If you feel that what people say under your thread is harsh just put your computer to sleep and sleep too.
2451  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Woman won $43million but was offered a steak dinner instead of her winnings on: January 11, 2023, 03:16:32 AM
Completely heard-breaking, I could not sleep for days after such a negative experience.
Another reason why provably fair gambling should be the standard in the future, they basically turned this situation into a "word-against-word" one.

Have you ever noticed that when a machine malfunctions is usually for people who allegedly won millions of dollars to be given little bit or nothing at all?
It is never the opposite way. When would a resort in Las Vegas call a gambler to their room because the 10$ they won earlier were actually 100 million and invite them to go down the reception to receive their cash?  Roll Eyes

It's always the way to deceive customers, if the said woman lost 10k dollars as a result of the malfunctioned machine the casino won't say a thing about it. The market is quite managed by some dubious people who don't care about the feelings of others. Imagine quenching the happiness, the woman had in her after seeing such an amount, to a sad qualm. It'll be difficult for her to forget such an experience and the trauma may leave her to become fearful of going to casinos. Adding insult to her injury they offered her few dollars that's not humanly in any form. The managers of the Casino are ruthless for handling the dispute in such a disdained manner. They've got no respect for her and even the court shouldn't have kept the case pending till now. The woman and the casino are expected to reach out to an agreement and she get paid for the inconveniences. Not necessarily the jackpot, but something better than the piece of $2 written on the ticket. Finally, she needs a strong lawyer.
2452  Other / Meta / Re: Why are account farmers still left to roam free in the forum? on: January 11, 2023, 02:29:20 AM

This has been done right from time; even before CHYMIST got registered in here, but this is still what we got ? Does it mean there's never a time this would end? ..... sometimes i keep wondering how it was before the meritocracy.

Sandra 🧑‍🦰

Reputable members work strides ahead to stop such practices, especially for users that break the forum rules in the essence of account farming. They've been a member who was tracked down on this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5356476.0 he had made jest of the forum's merit system by giving merits out to his accounts and vice versa, just to boost his more than 61 accounts, yet not all his accounts were banned. It's quite difficult to trace these activities considering the hard work and time invested by @Ratimov to achieve this strenuous goal of investigating his victim. Though it's worth it for the cleanliness of the forum, but for such a forum like bitcointalk where it's not a strict rule not to farm account it's difficult to wipe out such people like you're suggesting. Considering that it's still feasible to farm account despite the merit system available that means before the merit system got introduced it was a league of spam
2453  Economy / Speculation / Re: what If Bitcoin Price never comes up on: January 11, 2023, 01:15:45 AM
Op, you sound like BTC price fell for no reason. They were many things that affected bitcoin price like the Terra and FTX crash that affected bitcoin price to hit below 30k and 20k respectively. And it was noted that Elon musk boosted bitcoin price to 60k in 2021 later he took his profits and money back. These are some activities that affected bitcoin price to drop drastically. So, I'd say that since there are known facts to the fall in price of bitcoin, soon it'll correct with other known facts to the bullish run. Remember, Few investors can facilitate the market price into bull run. There have never been a bear market without a bull market and vice versa. Few days back the price had a bit of increase and it could pick up from there. Therefore, this is the best time to buy, and I'd say you shouldn't worry about the market going bullish. It'll definitely will.
2454  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Best crypto news is here on: January 11, 2023, 12:26:09 AM
Another good technique is following the writers on social media. If an experienced writer on bitcoin magazine, focuses his art, mainly, on bitcoin trading. It's advisable to follow him on twitter. There you can communicate through their comment section and get first hand answers from them. Gradually, delve into their Dms, a few would communicate with you about some techniques that works for them, which may not have been in their article. This process will help you understand their writing techniques easily, learn from gurus, and make new friends. That is for writers who use twitter for research purposes; polls and questionnaires. Reputable traders can be found on their handles too, and it'll help your trading experience. Don't just depend on the sites focus on the writers. They feed their social media followers with concrete information compared to the sites where they work. I noticed that only a few of these reputable crypto sites mentioned above get comments from readers, their comment sections are always empty. A good observation that readers don't read long articles anymore. Zero activity on comment sections, makes learning difficult. So, Op, get hold of quality info from the trading writers directly on social media.
2455  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can we really make a living in sports betting? on: January 11, 2023, 12:01:43 AM

I'm not living with it but I know people, friends of friends that are really living through sports betting. With many sportsbook that have come into the market, they're not even in the forum.

But, they're making a lot of money through commissions not just from literally gambling alone but also by having referrals. So, that's two way for them.

You now have the idea that it's not only about gambling with your money but also by having people you attract to gamble for the casino you're affiliated.

It's important you made this point, and most people underestimate the fact that the players who claim to earn big through gambling make their money through referral links. I've seen multiple tweets of tickets with huge wins, which draws people closer to believing the account handler, and signing up with their referral codes. Most of the times they're only a few who are fully into gambling as a source of income. Though, it's not advisable to take such step as a person who is not financially stable, but an experienced person can venture into such business. The disadvantage is financial insecurity, they can go broke any moment, that's why its good for top earners to venture into gambling as a livelihood. Looking at Drake for instance, he is a world super star, yet he makes lots of profits through gambling locally and online. Even if, sometimes, he losses a good sum of money he'd gain it back through his music. Such practice from gamblers is better than taking only the gambling route as the only source of income.
2456  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: January 10, 2023, 12:01:44 AM
I think the reason why we have a lot of people saying no to AI betting is the fact that there are absolutely no examples of it anywhere. Think about it this way, if there was a single AI bot, branded and promoted by a lot of people, with proof of their bets BEFORE the bet and then it happens and the results etc. Would people still say No? Of course not, they would say yes a lot and that brand would sell a bunch of those AI bots to people.

However, as we all can imagine, it is futile because neither it would work, but also it would not be possible to sell it to people, like just buy one and then whatever it says, freely give it away to people.
For now, people would not likely to depend from AI for sports betting prediction since it’s not making a fuss and people are not seeing demands from it that it can be very successful. Although it’s useful in some other means but when it comes to sports betting, only a human mind is more capable to make a valid prediction based on what he sees and feels, things that AI machines are not sufficient enough from doing so.

At the moment, I don't think Chatgpt has it's database for generating answers to users. Google still remains a source for most of the answers the AI provides to its users, and difference between chatgpt and google is that; Chatgpt claim to own the answers unlike google. That is why people tend to believe what the AI says compared to google. Now, gamblers trusts the answers from Chatgpt not knowing that it can be generated from google as well. The AI will definitely get answers from football analytics on top DA blogs and present it to users, most likely the answers would work out as the analyzers make good predictions too. On the contrary, I don't think AI would predict a casino game correctly. This method can only work for sport betting I guess.
2457  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: You Learn More from Losses than from Wins on: January 09, 2023, 11:12:05 PM
You won't learn more if you continue losing money without gaining any profits out of your trades. So, you'll need both profits and loss to learn more in trading. The human brain is designed in a way that it stops trying when it keeps getting zero profits. But, if a newbie gets into trading, and luckily he regained some lost money; made profits. He'll continue learning and researching on how to trade, so as to perfect the skill. Compared to a person who didn't make profits he'll, without hesitations, quit the trading quest, he would think trading is not meant for him. Therefore, I'd say that we need more profits to keep learning about cryptocurrency trading, losses dulls the impression of learning. And, losses, also contributed to the exit of many newbies who would have been potential traders today.
2458  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin as a currency, What is it going to take to get there? on: January 09, 2023, 10:51:35 PM
It sounds like you all feel like volatility is the thing keeping Bitcoin from becoming the currency that it was designed to be.  That is a compelling argument.

Question: Would products and services being priced in Bitcoin reduce the volatility?
That depends. Will that price be a fixed BTC amount for a longer period of time or will the price change in real-time in comparison to fiat?

Here is the problem with BTC being a currency. Let's say you earn $2000 a month but you are paid in BTC. For simplicity, lets say that is 0.12 BTC.
It's great and you are happy when the purchasing power of your coins go up short-term and you can buy more for those coins. You are less happy when you notice that your purchasing power is 10% less in just 24/48 hours. And with Bitcoin, that can happen in both directions. That wouldn't be a problem if all goods and services were represented in a fixed BTC amount. You wouldn't care. But they aren't. I don't see them becoming priced in BTC in the foreseeable future. If your financial situation is such that those -10% are a huge burden to you or your family, who in his right mind would want to do that and be hungry for the last 5 days of the month until the next paycheck arrives?

If everyone prices everything in BTC and only thought in BTC terms with no reference to fiat values, such an economy would work. It's not going to work if the stuff I normally buy become significantly more expensive over night while the salary I earned lost the same amount in purchasing power.

franky1 talks about efficient mining being $15k at the moment. Taking that into consideration, the development of technology won't and isn't working in Bitcoin's favor. Why? Because more efficient miners will be developed in the future. They will have a better hash rate but require less electricity. Unless electricity and ASIC prices go up, miners will profit selling their coins cheaper. So, that fair value could drop to $12k, $10k, maybe $5k eventually.

How then would the volatility of bitcoin be calculated if all goods and services were fixed in a BTC amount? Wouldn't it be the regulation we'll are scared of happening? Because having a fixed bitcoin price for commodities, means having a fixed price for bitcoin too, as it's no longer pegged to the dollar. We'll have to evaluate products in a very difficult way if the volatility of bitcoin continues in such a situation, whereby products and services will have to amend prices now and then as to the volatile nature of bitcoin. Let's say buying a product for 0.12BTC today and tomorrow the price for the same product hits 0.13BTC a sign the price went down. It'll be a tough market for merchants; experiencing rapid price changes and difficulty in knowing that the market price went down. Unless they'll be a radar for all products pegged to bitcoin that'll change now and then regarding market condition, it'll be so difficult to attain such a height of having only bitcoin without fiat, which is why I think they'll be no room for bitcoin without being pegged to fiat for easy tracking of its volatility. Unless they'll be no bear or bull in the bitcoin market, then that'll work yet it's similar to being regulated to a specific price.
2459  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Businesses That Accept Bitcoin Attract New Customers and Sales on: January 09, 2023, 10:15:10 PM
Business that accepts only dollars vs business that accepts dollars and euro and pounds would have a difference too. Lets assume you have an online shop, but you only accept paypal and nothing else, versus someone who would also offer credit card option on top of paypal, that would also have a better result.

This "adding crypto to your business is great" is not really a unique approach, adding more payment options will always be good, if you have just crypto, add paypal and credit card to it and you will get better too. That has always been like that, in any business, make it easier for the customer to buy, so that they do not have time to rethink and give up.

I didn't go through the link OP provided, but the online merchants are the people to benefit from new customers just like you pointed out, adding bitcoin as a payment method would open a window for clients who wish to pay with BTC. For instance, businesses like SMM, a reseller that doesn't accept cryptocurrency will lose out lots of buyers, same is applicable to a merchant that doesn't accept paypal. All payments methods are needed for effective customer satisfaction, most customers can't patronize if paypal is not available; they only pay with Paypal. Hence, offline business that accepts bitcoin can be effective if a person is low on fiat, but the other way round, they'd prefer to use fiat. However, why it's crucial to add bitcoin as a payment method in offline businesses is that the competition is less; many businesses don't accept bitcoin yet. So, with bitcoin as an addition, the vendor will be one step ahead of his competitors.
2460  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you change your name to bitcoin for 2000BTC? on: January 09, 2023, 09:19:28 AM
Happy new year friends, it's been a good start of another year, while we are distracted by many problems about the market; hacks, bankrupcy etc, we forget about the fun the community had in the early years of this decentralized currency. It seems to me that there are lesser fun facts of bitcoin in this era compared to the early days of bitcoin. Though they is no source to the claim that a man, 12 years ago, offered to change his name to bitcoin for 2000btc, it's just quite too funny and reveals how people made fun out of bitcoin; they had happy memories of bitcoin. Unlike today where people are surrounded with sad news about bitcoin and it's not just fun anymore, thinking about the Pizza day and the hodl thread those were some good moments. However, I'm not saying we are not making progress, yes we are, but then it's quite a difficult journey without fun.

I'd ask, 12 years ago 2000btc was nothing compared to now, would you do such a thing? Hence many users on twitter accepted that they can change their name to bitcoin for such amount Grin

--
2000BTC now is something that could be life changing then i would definitely be agreeing on changing my name for that amount. haha

Current conversions now
2000 = $33M

So who would be the one wouldnt be changing up  their names? One thing that boggles up our mind is that on those
fellas on those early years where btc value isnt that high or simply cheap but still considering that taking such action which it isnt
really that worth, if that guy had held up his coins up to this moment then its really a jackpot thing.

Indeed, they are lots of crazy fun facts about bitcoin users of 12 years ago, but I don't think such a person would hodl for long since he is desperately in need of money to an extent of offering to change his name for bitcoin. If he gets the offer he'll definitely sell to make profits and solve his problems. Come to think of it, I've never thought about changing my name to bitcoin until I read about the tweet, he must have been into a problem to get such a strange thought. However, such an amount of bitcoin today is enough to change a name of a clan Grin not just a single person's name. Though it'll be weird to answer bitcoin knowing that friends will make fun of you when the market price is bearish; you're worth $16k
