Very nice idea! So I can lock that deck of cards in a safe and no one will know I have a bitcoin keys hidden inside.

You know what could be nicer if the app can access the camera on the phone and "watch" I deal the cards one by one and the app can recognise all the numbers and suits of each card so I don't have to enter the cards manually.  Cheesy

Nice idea Smiley probably for a future version. It seems like a big project.

However, I'm not sure if waiting until a mobile camera focuses and scans would be faster than manually entering a single card.

Very nice idea! So I can lock that deck of cards in a safe and no one will know I have a bitcoin keys hidden inside.

Make sure to put some other magic props in there, or people will.

It's recommended to use a password and to keep the cards in a safe place.
Following those 2 rules (plus a proper shuffling) can be an extremely safe way to store BTC for a long period.

Most people won't know that a deck of cards can hold a set of BTC keys, but of course that's not enough for security.

Some little CAPT for info boards in my university. EcuaMobi, please, make russian version of this page http://captcoin.com/

Nice Smiley

Actually I already have that translation.

I'll prepare the Russian version and publish it in a few days.

here did 3073320 CAPTcoin if the current number of blocks 250180? How can this be? The maximum award was for 1 CAPTcoin captcha. As a reward correlates with the blocks?

I'm not sure I understand your question.

⟳ 3,073,320.3811 were claimed during distribution by completing the captcha form 6,175,212 times (more info is available here: http://get.captcoin.com/addresses.html)

This has nothing to do with the number of blocks.
Each block gives a PoS stake which is additional to the mentioned amount.
2466  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Android] Deck Wallet v0.2: Store your bitcoins in a deck of cards on: October 07, 2014, 04:47:02 PM
DeckWallet has been updated to version Beta 0.2.

You can download it here:
https://github.com/ecuamobi/deck-wallet/blob/master/market/DeckWallet_0.2.apk

  • It now allows choosing the number of cards with a minimum of 31.
  • It generates as many bitcoin addresses as the number of entered cards. The addresses are generated by moving the first card to the end. See "How it works" in the OP.

Any feedback is welcome, especially regarding security.

2467  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Android] Deck Wallet: Store your bitcoins in a deck of cards on: October 06, 2014, 05:19:41 PM
Following blossbloss's advice, I'll change how the extra addresses are generated.

Therefore, don't use the app to store your bitcoins yet. I will publish version 1.0 this week.

Original thread on the captcoin forum : http://CAPT.co.in/f506

Hello guys !

Ok, it's been a while I was thinking about some way to raise fund for Capt. And here's one of the idea I had...

Please apologize if some of my sentences are not grammaticaly correct, you know that I'm french Smiley

First of all, lets be clear about this project : It isn't finished yet and I need YOUR help to make this thing perfect. That is really important that everyone join this thread to add his opinion, to debate and to build a strong plan ! We're a community, that means a lot for me.

This is going to be a very long post, so take some time... I'll try my best to make this post as clear as possible.

Lets go.

I. The actual situation, my personnal point of view.

Alright, I think it is always a good thing to take some distance and look at the situation from another point of view. I'm too involved/in love with captcoin to be really objective but I'll try anyway.
First, Captcoin is a cryptocurrency, that's obvious I know. But referring to the captcoin's website, here's the main idea. The original one :

CAPTcoin is the first crypto-currency intended for everyone
To get other digital currencies, you need to be a tech-savvy and buy expensive hardware to be able to mine.

That was the original philosophy. A coin that would be available to anyone in the world, no ASIC/RIG needed. You solve captcha, you get rewarded.
And this plan worked just perfectly ! Thousands of people claimed Capt and our community was born ! That was our first success.

During this time, Captcoin started to get more and more famous. We grabed all the exchanges we wanted, price rised niceley and some crypo-specialized media started to speak about us.
More and more motivated people started to work for captcoin, including me. That was a perfect dream.

But things started to get worst after the distribution ends. The exact reasons ? I dunno... Maybe too many people just used CAPT as fast BTC faucet and didn't care about its philosophy. Some of the people that were very active here just left without a word... Maybe they just lost faith, maybe it's just like that. Shit happen. I won't judge anyone. But that was a hard punch for Capt.

Beside that, I noticed that our community was still there... Hidden behind the corner of a website, silently looking for changes. Those who were here for the distribution ending event may remember this incredible IRC chat we had ! That was just epic, I enjoyed this moment and felt like I had plenty of friends from all over the world.

That brings me to our strong/weak points...

Strong ones :

- Ecua. Great leader and great dev, he did an amazing great job with Captcoin and developping new features. That's his original idea and he should be glad of what he've done. I'm personnaly really glad to know him.
- The community. Looking at the past, we were able to do anything. Working all together. That's, imo, our special weapon and it shouldn't be underestimated. Beside that, some involved people are here and I must thank them for beeing so helpfull (Tijnar, Reidel, Tropa, Mrvanengelen, Geo, Soul, m1rage, trhao... And I'm forgetting a lot of them).

Weak ones :

- Developping projects. Yeah, that's our problem actually... We need skilled people, ready to begin and finish something. Actually we didn't manage to keep people... And Ecua cannot do everything alone (nobody can).
- Our community. That may sound weard but one of our strong point is also a weak one... We have a real problem here. I see a lot of energy on certain events, like fairpump ones, but when it's time to do more than just voting for a quick profit (e.g. Coinpayments.net voting) there's no more energy. Once again there are many reasons for that situation and I won't judge anyone. The thing is our community seems to be more active for giveaway...
- Money. Yeah money is a problem, I think we're all aware of that. We have no fund. No fund to control the market, no fund to hire dev (as no dev joined and stayed in the team), no fund to organize promotionnal events. No fund. Money can't buy me love, but money can buy the rest.

II. The plan.

We need to collect fund. That's absolutly necessary. And here's how I will use our strong points to make this thing happen... To achieve this objective there's no magic, I will need the maximum help from the community ! Any help will be more than welcomed. Because we are captcoin.Ready ? Go.
THE SILVER CAPTCOIN LOTTERY. A crypto-lottery for everyone.

Main speach : Buy a ticket and win a real Silver Captcoin !

Objectives : raising funds for Captcoin future developpments, markets controls, mining pool and promotionnal events.

Duration : Need to think about it. A week or two ? Depends on many aspects and I really need your opinion about that.

Projects steps.

I. Raising funds for the silver coin printing. Actually it costs, without shipping, 130€ = $160 = 0.44BTC. That is our first community effort. We won't use CAPT for that purpose, to avoid dumps. I'm ready to put 0.1+ BTC for this, who's gonna follow me ? People that will put money for the 3D printing will become INVESTORS.

II. Promoting the lottery. I will design banners, facebook headers, twitters headers, graphical signatures for forums, animated gifs and a youtube video. Anything that could be used to spread the word. We'll spread the word everywhere it's possible (FB/Twitter/Bitcointalk/reddit/etc) and WE, as a community, will have to use all those graphic elements to promote the campaign. We also need to set a dedicated website/page and list all the participants.

III. Selling tickets. I think that we need to attract the maximum people we can. In order to do that we'll accept CAPT and BTC as a payment for the ticket. Ticket's price will be something low like 0.0005BTC / 40 CAPT (almost 0.1$).

IV. The winner is chosen, the Silver Coin is sent to him/her and we announce it on all the social media we used before (Twitter, Facebook, Bitcointalk, reddit, etc.)

No lets talk about the money we'll earn. I think it could be great to set different projects relativly to the money we manage to raise and here's my thoughts :

Raised funds.
(Those next point are just rough ideas, Nothing is planed and I think it should be a community decision)

- Less than 1 BTC (less than 3500 tickets) : That's a fail, no more. But we tried. anyway, if enough money were raised, investors will get refund with a nice 20% interest.

- 1 to 2 BTC (3500 - 7000 tickets) :
investors get refund with a nice 20% interest. You put 0.1 BTC on the table, you get 0.12 BTC back. The rest of the money will be used for a market control, lets be honnest actually any 1BTC sell/buy order can put CAPT in a real shity situation. We should be able to fight this kind of problem.

- 2 to 5 BTC (7000 - 17500 tickets) : investors get refund with a nice 20% interest. 2 BTC will be kept for market control. 2 BTC will be used to buy a mining pool. A mining pool would have many advantages :
- Creating buy orders on the market, making it more alive than ever.
- Miners community will join our existing community, making it stronger than ever.
- Pool's fee will be used for raising funds.

- 5 to 10 BTC (17500 - 35000 tickets):
investors get refund with a nice 20% interest. 2 BTC will be kept for market control. 2 BTC will be used to buy a mining pool. 5 BTC will be used for hiring a dev on a specific project for CAPT. This project will be chosen by the community.

- 10 - 20 BTC (35000 - 70000 tickets) :
investors get refund with a nice 20% interest. 2 BTC will be kept for market control. 2 BTC will be used to buy a mining pool. 15 BTC will be used for hiring a dev on a specific project for CAPT.

- 20+ BTC (70000+ tickets) : same as before, but we could think about larger projects and promotionnal campaign.

That's my plan. But this plan needs a community effort to be successfull. As you may have notice this kind of promotionnal event is a viral marketing plan. It means that this event must be spread like never. So if you love captcoin, if you wanna do more than just watching the price decrease day after day then it's in your hand now.

I will never stop working for Capt, I don't mind about the actual price I just care about how I can help to keep its philosophy alive.

Thanks for your time, please think about it and come over here to share your thoughts.

WE ARE CAPTCOIN.
Only those who do nothing make no mistakes.

Here is an exemple of graphic design for the campaign.

Regarding this, I've published on idea on how to run the draw:

Quote
  • To buy a ticket, everyone must enter their email address. When done, they will receive a unique BTC or CAPT address.
  • When the required amount is sent to that address, a unique ticket ID will be generated. That ID will be an 64-char HEX string, similar to the ID of a block (example). See below for more details on how to generate that ID.
  • If someone buys several tickets, they will get several unique ID's.
  • We'll define a time and date for the draw, for example 6th of October at 2PM UTC (this is just an example, of course the date would be in the future).
  • We then get the hash of the first block (with the lower #) later than that time: In this example, it is b85f868ae8...
  • All the tickets whose first character matches the first character of the selected block go to the next round. In this example, all tickets starting with b.
  • Then, we get the hash of the next block. In this example 03a9afea0f22...All the tickets whose second character matches the first character of the selected block go to the next round. In this example 0 (so far b0).
  • ... and so on until only one ticket is the winner.
  • If one block doesn't qualify any ticket to the next round, it would be ignored and the next block will be selected.

2469  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Android] Deck Wallet: Store your bitcoins in a deck of cards on: October 05, 2014, 03:35:39 AM
Regarding 1 (and probably 3), the 7-time shuffle is already recommended under instructions.

To be clear, what I meant that the 7 shuffles need to be riffle shuffles in order to generate a random sequence.  Other kinds of shuffles (such as overhand shuffles) will not come close to generating a random sequence after only 7 shuffles.

I see. I missed that.

I've updated the OP adding that.
2470  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Android] Deck Wallet: Store your bitcoins in a deck of cards on: October 05, 2014, 12:06:40 AM
Nice idea.  A few comments:
1) the recommended 7 shuffles should be specified as (well distributed) riffle shuffles (based on Percy Diaconis work at Harvard). If the user does not feel comfortable doing riffle shuffles, then they should use what ever shuffle they know, but they should shuffle for a long time.
2) when you generate the successive addresses, you should cycle the deck and put the card at the back of the deck so that there are still 52 cards in the seed.  That way, you can generate 52 addresses instead of just 20.
3) Provide a strong warning that the user should not enter standard (widely known by magicians) stacks, even though that might seem like a good idea.  Always shuffle the cards.
4) I am assuming that if I shuffle the cards and write them down, they will generate the same wallet if I do the process over again. Right?

Thanks for your comments.

Regarding 1 (and probably 3), the 7-time shuffle is already recommended under instructions.

I will consider 2, although I really don't think more than 20 addresses are required.

Regarding 4, of course it would generate the same addresses, be it from the same deck itself (recommended) or a paper where you wrote it down.

2471  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] bitaddress.org Safe JavaScript Bitcoin address/private key on: October 04, 2014, 10:35:01 PM
Could you possibly make a wallet using a deck of cards? There are an insane amount of combinations possible, and you could at least just make a brainwallet by putting in the cards in order. Then you can just keep the deck in that order to save it.

Yes. Just shuffle a deck well and deal a few cards then enter them, using a code for each card, as the password in a brain wallet generator. Something like 1H for ace of hearts and KS for king of spades.

You need to pick the entropy you want, which will give you how many cards are needed in the deal. The whole deck gives you 52! combinations or 226 bits of entropy. You probably don't need much more than 100 bits though - so, fewer cards.

Number   Bits of
of cards   Entropy
15               82
16               87
17               93
18               98
19               103
20               108
21               113
22               118
23               123
24               128
25               132

I found this idea very interested and just finished creating and Android app to do that: Deck Wallet.

https://bitcointalk.org/?topic=811397

Any feedback is appreciated.
2472  Bitcoin / Project Development / [Android] Deck Wallet v1.0: Store your bitcoins in a deck of cards on: October 04, 2014, 08:30:31 PM

I've read on several places the idea to use real-world entropy such as dice or cards to generate a seed to create bitcoin addresses.

Basing on that idea, I have create a simple Android app that allows users to generate up to 52 bitcoin addresses from a deck of cards.

You can get it here from Google Play:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ecuamobi.deckwallet

or https://github.com/ecuamobi/deck-wallet/blob/master/market/DeckWallet_1.0.apk?raw=true
It requires a device running Android 4.0+ with touchscreen.

Features
  • Easily enter the order of the cards by using spinners.
  • Supports an optional password.
  • Checks for repeated or missing cards, as well as miss-entered passwords.
  • Allows the user to re-enter everything to double-check the generated wallet. This is to prevent sending coins to the void.
  • Shows QR codes for the generated addresses and private keys.
  • Allows individual sharing of an address or key, as well as bulk sharing of all generated addresses.

About security
  • Completely offline. The application does not requires permission to access the Internet, store files, or any other.
  • Open source. The code is available here: https://github.com/ecuamobi/deck-wallet/
  • You don't need to enter the order of the cards using the keyboard, therefore it's not vulnerable to malicious keyboards.
  • Checks for repeated or missing cards.
  • Allows the user to re-enter everything to double-check the generated wallet.
  • 2FA: Option to enter a password (or more than one to create secondary wallets) besides the deck itself.
  • Allows the generation on an extra wallet using a secondary password, thus protecting the main one against a physical attack (disclose the secondary password instead of the main one).
  • Obscurity: An attacker won't know there are bitcoins in that deck, even if they find it.

Instructions
  • Install Deck Wallet on a non-rooted Android device.
Important: Make sure to download only from either
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ecuamobi.deckwallet or
    https://github.com/ecuamobi/deck-wallet/blob/master/market/DeckWallet_1.0.apk?raw=true
and double check it does not require any permissions.
  • Riffle shuffle a deck of cards 7 times or more.
  • Select the number of cards to use. 52 is recommended.
  • Enter every card on the app (it takes me about 4 or 5 minutes to do so).
  • Optionally enter a password you won't forget (it's not possible to recover it!).
  • Touch "Go!" to generate up to 52 bitcoin addresses. It will generate as many addresses as the number of entered cards.
  • Optionally, copy the order of the cards into another deck, as backup.
  • Double-check your deck wallet: Touch the 'Check' icon and re-enter the same password and card order.
  • After checking it, send some bitcoins to your deck wallet and store your deck of cards in a safe place.

How it works
  • The entered cards are converted to 2-char strings and concatenated. For example 3 of hearths is represented as 3H. 10, Jack, Queen and King are represented as T, J, Q and K respectively.
  • If a password is entered, it is pre-pended to the resulting string.
    Example seed: myPasswordAH4CTS9D...KHQS
  • The first address is calculated as a brain address, using SHA256 from the full generated seed. The result is the same as manually entering the full string into http://bitaddress.org or other similar tool.
  • The second address is calculated from the seed except the first card is moved to the end (Example: myPassword4CTS9D...KHQSAH)
  • The third address is calculated from the seed except the first 2 cards are moved to the end (Example: myPasswordTS9D...KHQSAH4C) and so on.
  • To check the generated wallet, the double SHA256 of the full seed is temporarily stored on RAM.
  • Nothing is stored permanently and nothing is sent or received through Internet (the app doesn't have permission to do that).

Thanks to Kebooz, Dragoon and Luo, the Rich List is now working:

It has these features:
  • Infinite scrolling until the top 1,000 is shown
  • Enter any address and hit Enter to query it
  • Click a row to open the explorer

For the moment, the general stats are not included.

Dragoon, Luo or anybody else: if you can provide the required HTML and CSS to show this information:

please post or PM me. That would be great Smiley

A small bug was preventing the infinite scrolling from working on FireFox.

It's fixed now. Let me know if anyone finds something not working OK.

yep.

Well, no problem I'll buy all those cheap coins and will laugh at all those dumpers when CAPT will jump to the moon  Grin

I'm starting to doubt this coin could jump so high, I think I will need to bad-sell my coins at these low prices, if this coin dies (this means, it falls into oblivion and the price drops at the minimum possible) all the holders will feel like receiving a punch in the face. If I sell them now I will make at least $2 worth in BTC, it will not compensate all the time invested in getting them, but it's best than a punch in the face.

Alternatively if you are so sure that the price will jump to the moon, you would not mind to buy my coins at 5000 satoshis? I currently have 423 and staking. If you are interested contact me trough PM or e-mail.

I and a lot of people do believe in CAPTcoin, and I'm still slowly buying more.

Now explain me why we would buy your coins at 5k instead of buying on the exchanges at a lower price.

Maybe someone who believes in this coin and have time to wait for price going up want to buy some coins? 1 coin for 0.05$ (I have 3000 CAPTcoins)

I just don't have time to wait and I don't wanna sell them less then for 5 cents ;s

That's not how things work.

And finally, we all have to work for CAPTcoin. It's not work for a single person or a small team.

I've created a new service to display prices in CAPTcoin based on fixed amounts in fiat currencies.

It's shown as an image with transparent background so it can be used on forums or any other site.

The format is:

https://api.captcoin.com/ticker/img/<CUR>/<VAL>

Where:
