Nodecoin

Nodecoin is a proof of concept coin and the first coin to be built on top of the Nxt Platform. After initial testing, full implementation was postponed to allow other higher priority projects to progress and allow a full discussion.

The concept: Nodeminer, the computer program supporting Nodecoin, runs alongside your Nxt Forging Account. For each Block it reports the Peers it is connected to back to the Nodecoin pool server. The pool server then tabulates the results and allocates Nodecoins based on the number of times your Node was listed as a Peer. The more people connected to your Node, the more you get reported to the pool server and the more Nodecoins you get. The Nodeminer would also get an extra share bonus for having reported to the pool server.

Nodecoins cannot be mined and only one share is allocated per IP address/Nxt Account. There are 100 Nodecoins distributed per block. Nodeminer can embed a NXT health monitor, which will allow the detection of when the network is in a fork, or under attack. Nodeminer has potential as a method for users to sell their computer resources in exchange for Nodecoins. There are many things that a user's computer is uniquely qualified to do such as decentralized source of CPU, bandwidth and storage.

Do u both want antiNXT?

Write ur antiAddress here.

Thx
CfB
what is antiNXT?

From the Nxt Glossary...

****

AntiNXT

Each NXT has a corresponding AntiNXT. These are a special type of NXTs that have negative values and exist only in the Genesis Account. Any NXTs sent to the Genesis Account are destroyed by interacting with their AntiNXT counterparts. This is logical in that -1 + 1 = 0, or in words AntiNXT + NXT = Nothing. Also see Genesis Account.

If anyone is bored waiting for the next post or just have some time to kill, I could do with some fact checking on the Nxt Glossary  Wink

I obviously think it is right, otherwise I wouldn't have wrote it  Grin But it needs to be checked. It stands at 63 entries now  Smiley

Joefox, VanBreuk and LiQio are the three who have sent me comments/updates so thanks to those   Wink

Someone did a wall of text  Wink here in the last view days on how to create your own client?

We have someone who seems to want to do exactly this and needs some help (they are a beginner). Java devs may want to stop by to answer his question on API (and maybe correct me on the ports used  Grin )

Thanks Grin Grin

Wasn't this released last year?!?

What is taking so long for basic changes? Is it one guy in his basement on an 8088?

Something basic for you doesn't mean easy for others, if it is easy for you why not you do the changes ?

More insults...swell.

Guys need to seriously think about your emotional attachment to a crypto currency.

Insults?

This posters style feels very familiar... and vocab used shows he is knowledgable of Nxt.

@solarion - When you made an account first with your 6 words phrase, you should have written or copied the account number.

When you then sent from Cryptsy you should have checked that you're sending to THIS account, but you didn't.

Instead you were a bit reckless.

Someone should mention to him 6 words probably isn't long enough (and his reaction to one of my first questions implies he used a sentence/phrase against all advice he read)

I get that. Think I'd rather stick to coins with wallet.dat files and move coins to online wallets as necessary.

then you didnt choose the right client!
https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,4525.0.html
offspring client supports wallet.dat for your passphrase.

I USED THE DIRECTIONS FROM PAGE ONE OF THIS THREAD.

"Make sure you use a very random, complex password of at least 80 characters.  You can use 0-1, a-z, A-Z, special and national characters."

dafuq am I going to remember that? I already have 10k passwords floating around in my head.

So you are saying you didn't follow the directions on page one of this thread?

You are all over the place.

Ignored. Got no patience for mindless clones that get married to a cryptocurrency.

This thing has to be usable by nearly anyone to be taken seriously. It's not even close to that.

The logic bombs always stump the least prepared fudsters.

happy to be on it if you're so blind that you cannot see the problem with this.

Don't get emotionally involved with your coin choice.

I actually agree with you. The built-in client can be confusing for people used to bitcoin and the it's clones. People don't read the dialog box at the login. You probably just hit entered without entering any passphrase. That client (which was supposed to be temporary) lasted way too long. It's sceduled to be replaced with this one in near future

http://nxtra.org/nxt-wallet/

Try that one and it won't let you make that mistake easily, as it will create the pass phrase for you.

Thank you for the non-insulting comment. Patience & tolerance seem to be lacking in this thread.

I think it's fair to say that if this client that I downloaded yesterday and ran on the most common os in mass use can screw up that badly at protecting me from myself then this coin is not for me and I will not bet on it's future adoption. Had this occurred late last year when this thing was new I could've excused this, but after months if this thing is still to dumb to protect people that re-use another's password then I have no hope for it.

That's a bit rich, you just ignore my questions when I keep trying to help you.

You don't seem to get it. I understand what happened now. I just think this thing is a dead end if it's not any smarter than that.

So to summarise what you have said,
You created an account with a 6 word password and then verified the account it created (presumably by recording the account number).
You then stupidly (by your own admission) logged into the ‘null’ password account (you just pressed return at the enter passphrase screen).
You didn’t check the account number of the null password against the one you just created and transferred your NXT to the null account and then the bots stole them.

All accounts are accessible to all people in any location, provided you know the password. This is a brainwallet. Therefore, if you use an account with a weak password intentionally or not (i.e. one that has no password), your coins get stolen.

What don’t I get?

The GFY part. You missed it totally.

GFY?

No password = no account number. How is that not simple in software?

If john smith for instance uses his name as his password(not smart) the chances that someone else has used that password increases exponentially with adoption, but the software won't warn the 37th john smith of that and will merrily send john smith(#1) all of the other john smith's coins. Correct?

This system sucks. If this basic stuff hasn't been worked out in april of 2014 then these programmers are knuckleheads and everyone should abandon ship.

Just follow the security advise on the site. It clearly says 30 digits password.

Noone was able to lose his coins in a way like you. It is your fault for not double checking if you entered the right password..

Fine, I'm stupid. Can we move on now?

WHY DOES THE SOFTWARE SHOW AN ACCOUNT NUMBER THAT BELONGS TO SOMEONE ELSE?!?

Because you entered a passcode that belongs to someone else.

That will happen thousands of times over globally. Think man. There needs to be more safeguards than a simple password.

For some reason you didn't record your account #.  If you are sending money via Paypal to an email address, do you verify the email address before sending?  When you are writing a check, do you verify the name of the person you are writing the check to before mailing it?  I'm not sure why you didn't record your Account # and verify it before sending Nxt.

I DID VERIFY IT. Someone else's account number is *STILL* on my screen and it *STILL* matches the one cryptsy sent to.

You either entered a 6 word pass or no password.

Which is it?

Not if they follow the advice.

People constantly ignore advice. Cholesterol is bad, but people still eat french fries.

And then live with the consequences.  I.e your coins *will* be stolen.

That's good advice

Twelve pages of transactions associated with what I thought was my unique account #. More confused than ever. Huh

I miss btc 1.0.

Can you describe the passphrase you're using? Length, char types etc.

Post your account number too for people to look up (don't post your passphrase!)  Grin

6 words.

Does this mean they're stolen?!?

Were they 6 random words or did they form a sentence? (i.e. taken from a song or book, a well known phrase etc).

This is really how next works?!? OMFG.

You need to answer the questions or we can't help you.
