2461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Businesses That Accept Bitcoin Attract New Customers and Sales on: January 09, 2023, 10:15:10 PM
Business that accepts only dollars vs business that accepts dollars and euro and pounds would have a difference too. Lets assume you have an online shop, but you only accept paypal and nothing else, versus someone who would also offer credit card option on top of paypal, that would also have a better result.

This "adding crypto to your business is great" is not really a unique approach, adding more payment options will always be good, if you have just crypto, add paypal and credit card to it and you will get better too. That has always been like that, in any business, make it easier for the customer to buy, so that they do not have time to rethink and give up.

I didn't go through the link OP provided, but the online merchants are the people to benefit from new customers just like you pointed out, adding bitcoin as a payment method would open a window for clients who wish to pay with BTC. For instance, businesses like SMM, a reseller that doesn't accept cryptocurrency will lose out lots of buyers, same is applicable to a merchant that doesn't accept paypal. All payments methods are needed for effective customer satisfaction, most customers can't patronize if paypal is not available; they only pay with Paypal. Hence, offline business that accepts bitcoin can be effective if a person is low on fiat, but the other way round, they'd prefer to use fiat. However, why it's crucial to add bitcoin as a payment method in offline businesses is that the competition is less; many businesses don't accept bitcoin yet. So, with bitcoin as an addition, the vendor will be one step ahead of his competitors.
2462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you change your name to bitcoin for 2000BTC? on: January 09, 2023, 09:19:28 AM
Happy new year friends, it's been a good start of another year, while we are distracted by many problems about the market; hacks, bankrupcy etc, we forget about the fun the community had in the early years of this decentralized currency. It seems to me that there are lesser fun facts of bitcoin in this era compared to the early days of bitcoin. Though they is no source to the claim that a man, 12 years ago, offered to change his name to bitcoin for 2000btc, it's just quite too funny and reveals how people made fun out of bitcoin; they had happy memories of bitcoin. Unlike today where people are surrounded with sad news about bitcoin and it's not just fun anymore, thinking about the Pizza day and the hodl thread those were some good moments. However, I'm not saying we are not making progress, yes we are, but then it's quite a difficult journey without fun.

I'd ask, 12 years ago 2000btc was nothing compared to now, would you do such a thing? Hence many users on twitter accepted that they can change their name to bitcoin for such amount Grin

--
2000BTC now is something that could be life changing then i would definitely be agreeing on changing my name for that amount. haha

Current conversions now
2000 = $33M

So who would be the one wouldnt be changing up  their names? One thing that boggles up our mind is that on those
fellas on those early years where btc value isnt that high or simply cheap but still considering that taking such action which it isnt
really that worth, if that guy had held up his coins up to this moment then its really a jackpot thing.

Indeed, they are lots of crazy fun facts about bitcoin users of 12 years ago, but I don't think such a person would hodl for long since he is desperately in need of money to an extent of offering to change his name for bitcoin. If he gets the offer he'll definitely sell to make profits and solve his problems. Come to think of it, I've never thought about changing my name to bitcoin until I read about the tweet, he must have been into a problem to get such a strange thought. However, such an amount of bitcoin today is enough to change a name of a clan Grin not just a single person's name. Though it'll be weird to answer bitcoin knowing that friends will make fun of you when the market price is bearish; you're worth $16k
2463  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A superstitious strategy? on: January 09, 2023, 08:39:56 AM
The gambling games are not designed to work with a player's superstitious believes. These are algorithms designed in a way that'll suit everybody such that they'll keep on playing games. Trying to map out a specific time as regards to the fact that you won mainly at a particular time is a fake imagination, and it'll fail you more often. Always know that you'll win and loss in gambling it'll help you get over so many unimaginable thoughts when it's your time to lose money. I've lost games in roulette rapidly that I got worried over what's actually going on even when I bet the most likely to win slots things go wrong, but that didn't mean, if I continued playing the game, I won't win again. Unlike your superstitious believe that is centered on stopping to play when a player thinks that luck is not longer on his side. That will dull the fun, if a player has not exhausted his bank roll mapped out for the gambling game and still wants to play while losing out rapidly, he is enjoying the game and it's not a bad idea. Sometimes the next game would be another massive win. That's how gambling works; scheduling time is not advisable unless you are a mystic it's left for you to be superstitious.

Additionally, if that's the way you think it works then I think my friend can continue the game to know if luck is on their side when mine is gone.
2464  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you change your name to bitcoin for 2000BTC? on: January 08, 2023, 06:34:03 AM
That's why 1 Bitcoin is not 1 Bitcoin, because price matters. This phrase is being thrown in bear market to cope with a price loss, but in reality everyone is looking at the price of Bitcoi against USD and base their decisions on that. No one is going to set price in BTC for their goods and services and ignore the change of Bitcoin's value. Even signature campaigns that for years maintained a flat rate had to eventually adjust it when the price became too high.

Thank you for speaking the truth, which I believe many people also understand, but they deliberately don't believe it to be true, bitcoin will never get rid of its dependence on fiat. The saying "1BTC is 1BTC" is just a saying to comfort us through this fierce bear season, that doesn't mean bitcoin doesn't need fiat or its value never will change. I find it funny when many people say 1BTC = 1BTC, but meanwhile they wait for bitcoin to drop in price to buy them instead of buying at high prices, and they say they don't care about the USD value of bitcoin.

If I'm getting you right, I think you are saying it wrongly. 1btc is 1btc, and nothing would change it except the people who wish to amend product prices to suit the current evaluation of 1btc. It's like saying; 100 dollars is no longer 100 dollars because it can't buy as many groceries as it did years back. These are just market changes that have no meaning to the status of the currency. If one bitcoin is worth 60k today, you won't expect 1btc not to purchase a product of 60k because 1btc was 16k yesterday. That is why product managers, including the signature managers would have to adjust the price according to the worth. Yet it doesn't change the fact that 1btc = 1btc. People only get confused about this, as everyone is here to make profits out of the volatile nature of bitcoin, which is pegged to the dollar for easy market evaluation. If bitcoin was not pegged to fiat, it would have been a hell of difficulty to make trades, as nobody would be able to understand the bear market and bull market, it would have no volatility in dollar price too, but on product price; in a world where only bitcoin is accepted. How then will people know the actual worth of bitcoin when they want to purchase it with cash? wouldn't it be difficult to determine using products as a determinant? So, Fiat, indeed, is crucial to the existence of bitcoin in determining the worth of 1btc to the market.
2465  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcointalk forum mobile app on: January 08, 2023, 06:05:22 AM

I prefer reading the forum on IPad, UI is friendly, the signatures and words appear boldly, and easy to read like on a laptop. Additionally, I spend more time reading the forum on my Ipad compared to my laptop. However, the forum is not user-friendly with phones with small screen resolutions, yet launching a mobile app to make it phone compatible will decrease post quality on the forum from the app users. Writing with a phone can cause multiple mistakes and may not be crosschecked on apps like Grammarly to enable an interesting read. Unless the app is created to be read-only; members can only read as guests, I won't prefer an app for the forum. Things to consider are if it'll be open source or closed source, the forum may now require some payments or donations to maintain the app, especially for core developers. I think the forum is unique, easy to navigate, and less cumbersome this way.
Next week I plan to buy an IPad, it looks practical after I saw several reviews about the IPad, the comfort is increasingly satisfied, especially the IPad can also use the keyboard, this will make it easier for me to open forums on the IPad.

I'm not sure that there is a mobile application for forums that can provide more convenience than a website because what I know is a unique forum is a website and it will be different from other forums, maybe you expect something new but it's not the main feature because it's like what you say requires reliable developers to be paid to operate the applications that are made, but I'm sure a mobile application is not a good idea for me.

Yes they'll be some members that won't use the app at all, which may keep the app on a sideline for phone users only. Some challenges will emerge; illicit developers may decide to create similar apps just to derail people searching for the forum. Though, it'll help the spread of bitcoin as it'll pop up when people search bitcoin on app stores yet the downside is quite bigger compared to the benefits. I'd urge you to get the Ipad as you said, you'd enjoy the forum, and users with lesser screen resolution phones can read the forum then communicate while on laptop. Truly it feels difficult to respond through phones, which may require a mobile app for the forum, but, then, the app may not be as responsive as the forum; it could lag, due to the numerous information on the forum.

2467  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to know what is the use of rewards, and since when rewards are given to m on: January 07, 2023, 02:38:29 PM
Merit is a reward that has no value elsewhere other than here, members feel good to see that their post got merited by other members, the feeling is like getting applauded for offering value to members. The benefit is the drive to make more quality posts. For every member that wants to rank up there is a desire to gain more merits and they must thrive to offer posts worthy of merits. How would you feel after offering quality posts in the forum without any merit, it can withdraw your efforts. So, the members with smerits always do their best to give out merits to posts worthy of it. A way to keep the forum moving and promoting quality posts, meaning that for every good post you make, OP, they may be merits for it now or later.

A thread similar to yours, OP, has already been moved to altcoin section some hours ago. I thought maybe the same person created the thread again, just like what you're insinuating on your thread, most developers run back to create something similar to their previous project if it gets caught or fails. Hopefully you are different from the other OP Grin

2469  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why Bitcointalk is the best forum on: January 04, 2023, 10:43:50 PM
Bitcointalk is a special interest forum focusing on cryptocurrency only. It is one attribute that makes the forum unique from other cryptocurrency forum coupled with the quality it provides. Members are obliged to write good contents, which helps readers to learn while scouting for answers. People are given the right answers to their questions in excess, they're now left to choose the best out of the many. I've not read of an old article or project about bitcoin and didn't come across bitcointalk. The forum has been here serving many people who have interest in cryptocurrency, even the big influencers on twitter like hodlonaut once referred in his tweet the fun of the bitcointalk forum. So, we'll are lucky to have such a solid forum for bitcoin knowledge from ground level up till development and technical level. Its members who are the bedrock of the forum offers the best knowledge and also work hard to keep the forum neat and conducive.
2470  Other / Meta / Re: What one change would you like to see in bitcointalk in 2023 on: January 04, 2023, 09:45:51 PM
Considering the numerous boards in the forum, I'd want a compilations of the best threads per week sent to every member's Dm. Best threads, which can be determined by the interactions and discussions in the thread, how meaningful and educative it is to users, can be disseminated in batch of selected 5-10 meaningful posts amongst all threads posted in that week, so that users that didn't participate in the thread can read them too. It'll help everybody to easily keep track of useful topics in the forum and boost learning too. Since the forum is mainly focused on learning, I wouldn't fancy any other feature other than the one that elevates more learning. Especially for the newbies who are not familiar with the boards on the forum, they miss out on so many useful threads in the forum, through this exercise; sending Dms of best threads in the week, would help them get across and know other sections in the forum. This will cost the forum nothing and would increase the rate of quality posts in the forum since members would want their threads to appear on the best threads of the week.
2471  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: At What Age You Got into Bitcoin and also Trading? on: January 04, 2023, 09:03:38 PM
The older people, OP, are not in high numbers because they've embraced the traditional finance system, and are not deeply into new technologies like bitcoin. A major number of older persons still find it difficult to use some social media apps, introducing them into bitcoin would be a hassle and they'll make lots of mistakes. The few of them in this market are tech savvy and understands the goal of bitcoin. Additionally, old people shouldn't go into a risky investment like bitcoin; life savings is what most of them got left after retirement. Throwing them in bitcoin is not a good decision. On the contrary, younger persons are in the era of bitcoin and digital currencies, so their numbers are expected to be higher than older people. And the young investors see many reasons to join bitcoin and understands them easily. However given a little time, the young people of today would be older and such disadvantages won't exist anymore.
2472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are your wishes for BTC in coming years? on: January 04, 2023, 08:40:33 PM
My wish for bitcoin is for its ecosystem to have better, responsible people who would care for the long term existence of the network and reduce the high rate of scam. If the bitcoin network is used for good, we wouldn't have been under a bearish market like this one. In the future more people would love to adopt bitcoin, but if they read about the worst outcomes of bitcoin and come to experience it they won't have any purpose to utilize bitcoin again. I wish for a community with honest users that care for fellow citizens money. Greed is killing the bitcoin market which won't take it any far. Looking at how Kwon-Do crashed the market just for greed sake, I wouldn't wish that the bitcoin market experience such people on the long run.
2473  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you guys bet on sports or casinos more? on: January 04, 2023, 01:38:31 AM
So, if sports work for you, OP, no need to bother about others that enjoy playing and winning in slot games. Though sports betting is more popular than slot games, many players prefer to take responsibility for their wins or losses. Such responsibility can only happen in casino games, unlike sports games where I'll have to stake money on the mercy of a player or fighter. Additionally, waiting for the results is quite tiring, watching the match, trills and heavy heartbeats is unwelcoming to me, sports should just be entertainment. Casino games provide fast results, and wins or loss doesn't feel like a hassle anymore. I'd say the casino games are better, enjoyable, and saves time that's why I enjoy playing them.

Basically, everyone has the right to choose and like betting on casino games or sportsbook betting. Basically, both of them have their fans. in fact, it's not uncommon for gamblers to play both of these bets. Most importantly, you are comfortable with what you are doing.
IMO, I'm not in the capacity to compare which one is better. whether it's casino games, or sportsbook. in essence, I like both. I like to bet on football, I often play slots while waiting for the match to start immediately. so, nothing is better than both because I like both.

Playing both is not all that bad, it's encouraged and it's not like I'm against sports betting, just that I don't play it as often as I do on casino games. I'd just prefer watching a football game with a free mind. Your method is a better vehicle to kill boredom of wait-time. I thought it's rare to love both games until I read your response. To me focusing on one is quite productive, and I tend to make good predictions from time to time. Considering that sportbooks have got nice odds to win big even with an average amount, I'd look into it gradually, a bit better than before.
2474  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Factors that contribute to form addictive gambling. on: January 04, 2023, 12:32:52 AM
Free alcoholic drinks, ease of withdrawal machines and ease of which to fund betting/gambling site wallets are serious contributory factors to addictive gambling.
Because no matter how much alcohol a man hard he will know when he reached the finish line and have exceeded his budget in a physical casinos since most of the bets are placed with cash.

I guess you don't take much of alcohol, the more tipsy you get the more you get excited to spend money for fun. The Casino tricked him, by not limiting his intake of alcohol, because they're earning more money from his drunkenness. Probably he'll continue losing money as he won't think of making the right decisions.

In comparison to live casinos, online casinos do not offer free drinks, but if one were to bet from the comfort of his/her zone, and had a fridge or cooler of chilled alcoholic drinks, it shouldn't be a yardstick to get drunk to the point of funding ones betting wallet all just to gamble at that instance of excitement. Also, if one can't get to control the amount of his/her alcoholic intake I don't think such a one can control the excitement that comes from gambling and shouldn't bet, make withdrawals or fund gambling wallets, while drunk.

What other factors do you know contribute to form addictive gambling?

However, playing an online casino with some drinks in the house for a person with strong self control doesn't change anything, for such a man in your story it won't be good for him, yet it's safe for him considering that he is already at home, unlike on a physical casino where he'll have to drive back home drunk. It's not advisable to drink while gambling because one can get carried away, I think after gambling and if it turns out well a gambler can then drink out of his profits.

Other contributors to excessive gambling are drug addiction, anxiety and depression. These are not good for the player and such a person is expected to be taken care of by loved ones to save his life from getting into debt.

2475  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcointalk forum mobile app on: January 03, 2023, 11:55:16 PM

I'm still comfortable using the browser even though the view has to be enlarged again.
You may try the wap mode which is somehow giving better experience. Usually I do check this forum only from my office desktop. So, I never think about mobile versions. Probably for the people who travel on regular basis, mobile app must be too handy.

2476  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Crypto Exchange Business on: January 03, 2023, 11:06:53 PM
My plan is to create an app like paypal for people to make online transactions with venders. The app would only host one main coin that I would like to create as a  safecoin for people to use as currency for the venders. The venders that would mainly use this would be marijuana dispensary's which arnt allowed bank accounts. This would provide digital storage of funds for vendors that are cash only at this point and also add the ease of online transactions. Im fairly new to crypto but ive formularized myself with how blockchains work and holding liquidity pools and expect to become proficient in everything crypto. from what ive gathered so far this project is posable all I need is some help with all the details.

First find out what blockchain dude does? and of course you should do your own research on this matter. Also, if what you want is similar to paypal, it means what you want is like E-wallet or E commerce.

The question is how do you do it? because even if you ask a question here in the forum, your strategy is still the one you will definitely follow. I guess you'll just get an idea about this matter in my opinion. But of course you still need a developer for this matter anyway and team too.

Yeah, I think OP is looking out to creating a cryptocurrency wallet between vendors and clients and such wallet won't be able to make payments to another cryptocurrency wallet except to a person that owns the wallet. Considering that paypal can't send money to another app except paypal. Since you are giving out the tip of the iceberg of the idea, It'll be difficult to conclude accurately what solution you need actually. From my perspective, to achieve such, you need a different network, I think you'll have to create the safecoin for it on a different network where users can only make peer to peer payment on the network and you'll be the exchange that'll help them get fiat using a bridge to send the coin to a regular network like blockchain that can enable you change it to fiat.
2477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Dev is not your friend, so be careful. on: January 03, 2023, 10:25:08 PM
A new project should have a community on telegram or discord where every trouble encountered by users can be found. When investing in new projects always reach out to other investors in the community who had a dispute, discuss with them to know their thoughts about the project, how their use case can benefit the cryptocurrency market in the future, and verify with them if their problems were resolved. If the project is a coin, I'd advise you not to purchase yet, unless you have some bucks to throw in after doing your diligence research.

Though recently, the cryptocurrency market is in trouble even real projects are not an exception to the attacks hackers launch every day in the market, as investors we are to capitalize on risks. A new project may not have enough security to secure its users or refund them if there get hacked and money is lost. However, it's a general barrier, some big projects escape with people's money without refunds after getting hacked, but new projects can easily go scot-free unlike established projects.

On the side of developers, many are here to make money, once their project starts attracting people, gradually they'll think of a way to rug pull and run an exit scam. Probably, they'll move ahead to create a fresh project and promote it with all they've made from their previous scam. That's why most time I wonder how fresh projects get to the top easily. Some get investor cool, but others are promoted with scam money. Hence developers are becoming lazy to create a unique web-based project, they're, most a times, going to launch another project that'll look similar to the previous ones. So, investors always watch out for projects that look quite similar; same idea, UI, and goal to scam projects. They're likely to be the same team in another coat.
2478  Other / Meta / Re: This forum will need explicit rules on the use of AI. on: January 03, 2023, 11:00:33 AM
How are you going to identify if the user is using AI in his posts?
I will not disclose any accurate source for my claim but there is actually no way to find that out if someone is using AI, since there are services out there for free making and editing your AI generated content in a way to avoid 99+% detection.
IMO anyone caught using AI generated content as their own should be banned, I wouldn't want to engage in a discussion where the other person is not really a person.

We want to engage and discuss with real people with their own real life achievements. Just as an example, I would like to read the posts of gmaxwell to know him better and more, just imagine if I wanted to follow him as a role-model and later find out or not to find out he was actually an AI behind the account.

What I don't like about this subject is the fact that AI could greatly influence us in the long term without us realizing it.

The same way you wouldn't like to communicate with a person that doesn't write correct grammar or keeps repeating phrases in their content is how AI writing works, users vary. If a person is skilled; knows how to utilize AI like chatGPT their response will be as good as that of a good writer. Additionally, the app can be asked to insert synonyms to a keyword to avoid repetitions. Also, every technology offers a new opportunity for users on the internet, in future skilled Chatgpt users can get hired to do a great writing job including editing.

Moreover, you are not communicating with a bot, as an AI doesn't have a brain it's controlled by humans, it just hurts that the next person is using a third-party app to communicate with you making it easier for him to write, while you chat genuinely with your brain. However, it's sad that AI is hitting hard on the internet, and mainly focusing the heat on writing communities, but in the long run, nothing can be done about it, imagine ChatGPT has over a million users within a short period. It's a technology that needs adoption, and writers don't seem to like the idea, as if it'll take their jobs from them, which is not true, contrarily it'll make their jobs easier.

In a forum like this, it'll be hard not to detect AI-generated contents if the user didn't amend it, but if the changes are correctly done Chatgbt can be said to be used for research purposes - easing the research process for a user. If he edits and publishes the thread, it's not completely AI-generated. You can say to be communicating with a bot if the user published the generated post without proofreading it. Moreover, those answers provided by chatGPT are generated from google, and plagiarism detection all depends on the user and the kind of query they gave to the bot. Like the moderator said; if the user is skilled with the use of AI that it doesn't break any rules then it is not a problem in any form.

I'd suggest that an AI detector is added to the forum to help users crosscheck if a thread is poorly generated by an AI, such a thread can be reported to mods pointing out how it broke a rule in the forum. It'll ease the stress for moderators and keep the community as clean as usual. Finally, what need is it to pay to write in the forum? soon these AI writing apps will get expensive to use regarding the speed people are signing up to utilize them.
2479  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you guys bet on sports or casinos more? on: January 03, 2023, 08:15:07 AM
Not everybody is keen to watch sports games or analyze them, and people lose out on sports betting when sentiments get attached. Staking for their clubs or player, if it's soccer, instead of watching closely who they think would win the game. For instance, the Saudi Arabia win over Argentina was a huge loss for a lot of gamblers because they believed Messi is on the Argentina side. Such mistakes don't happen while playing casino games like dice, baccarat, roulette, etc. It's 100 percent instinct and luck, which brings a high rate of joy when we win games.

Therefore, leaving no disappointments whatsoever on anybody when a bet fails, unlike sports where gamblers tend to blame a player for missing a penalty shoot which led to why they lost out a huge amount of money. I don't know much about sports betting yet I love sports. But if I were to place sports bets I'd go for boxing as it's not as complicated as football with so many players, and my interest in betting on football dropped, not completely, when I got to know that matches are being rigged.

This won't affect only cash but electronic money like cryptocurrencies can get terminated too. So, the country seems to fight underage gambling and trace the way citizens place bets. Yet, the Government wants to make profits out of gambling, which is the reason they moved the bill to law real quick. The problem is having other country's Government to adopt such laws, if they realize the huge amount of money made out of the law. Moving forward, though it'll affect Casino owners by paying so much in tax, players will benefit from cash security. Winners on physical Casinos won't bother about theft when leaving the casino. However, the Government watching over every stake by citizens, bridges their privacy and doesn't sit right despite the benefits the law draws to players. On the other hand, I think hackers will be hired this time as they'll be many hacking attempts on casinos' payment systems to derive clients sensitive information, they may from time to time begin to experience what exchanges suffer from hackers.
