2461  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Exchanges with no KYC Policy on: November 03, 2021, 09:11:28 PM
There are a few exchanges that I like that have a $10K withdraw limit per day. Which is WAY above what I care about, but if you are doing multi BTC trades, it's worthless.
Yeah, there are two things that seem to determine whether an exchange will require KYC or not--one is the daily withdrawal amount, and the other is whether you're trading with fiat (and a third would be the exchange's regulatory compliance, I guess).  I've never had to go through the KYC process on exchanges, as I don't trade much and never trade in large amounts.  Sometimes my trades are for laughably low amounts.

And OP, I'm sure you got the answer you were looking for since all the options I know of were mentioned, but I just wanted to add that unless p2p exchanges become the norm, the probability is high that there aren't going to be any centralized exchanges that don't require KYC in a year or two from now.  When Yobit closes up shop for good, you'll know that time has come.
2462  Economy / Economics / Re: [Coinbase] Bitcoin Collateral = FIAT Loans on: November 03, 2021, 12:23:33 PM
I'm not surprised that Coinbase would offer a lending service like this, since now that they're a publicly-traded company they've got to keep coming up with new products/services to keep their revenue rolling in; I just question whether this is going to be taken advantage of by many people.

People who own crypto tend to not want fiat, that's the first thing that comes to mind, and second, if you own bitcoin (or whatever Coinbase is accepting as collateral) you probably are well-off enough such that you wouldn't need a loan.  I know those wouldn't apply to absolutely everyone and that there would be some crypto holders who'd use Coinbase's lending service, but my gut is telling me that it's just not going to catch on.

Look at the Lending section on bitcointalk.  It is (or was) so frequently the case that people in need of a bitcoin loan never have any altcoins they can put up as collateral.  That section represents a very small slice of the bitcoin-using population, true, but somehow I think the same thing is going to hold true in Coinbase's case.  We'll see.  I don't think it's a horrible idea on their part.
2463  Other / Meta / Re: Here Is One Reason Why Legendary Members Get So Many Merits on: November 03, 2021, 11:48:53 AM
Can someone tweak the stats a little by deleting legendary members with signatures? Most of them are from Chipmixer and Bestchange's campaigns, and some of them are from the rest of the campaigns?
These campaigns force members to create 50 or 25 topics per week, so the frequent posting will make them get merits regardless of the topic.
Say what?  I can't speak for Bestchange's campaign, but as far as Chipmixer goes, it's got a reputation as one that's extremely selective as far as accepting only members who have a proven history of making posts of above-par quality--not the other way around, i.e., its members don't make better (or even more) posts because they're in the Chipmixer campaign. And believe me, there's no forcing of anything going on.  Some members consistently make fewer than 50 posts/week, and other members who make way more than they'd get paid for.

It is great because it gives us a solid labeled dataset regarding what people like about posts.
You think?  I'm not so sure, because people give merits for a wide variety of reasons and even from one merit source to the next there are different standards as far as what constitutes a merit-worthy post.  The only consistent criterion I could see would be length, with a well-answered question (of any length) coming in at a close second.
2464  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bounty cheaters in the past on: November 03, 2021, 11:15:45 AM
Am I wrong? (now in future 2021) some resource accounts in the past are back to life and doing normal activities, joined the same company and some Accounts I have marked with negative trust (-1). I Tagged them with the reason that they are Bounty Cheaters and make the same mistake in the present.
I'm not quite clear as to what you're asking in the above (or in the rest of your post), as your English is too difficult for me to understand this early in the morning, but I'd say no--what you described about members coming back to life and either asking to have feedback removed and/or joining bounties again isn't unusual at all.  I've had members I'd tagged 3 years ago go inactive and then, magically once bitcoin is booming and there's another altcoin craze (NFTs, DeFi, whatever), they've rediscovered the forum as a cash cow that they're going to use to milk dry yet again.

The general rule I've found is that once someone has figured out that money can be made here by bounty hunting, they never really go away unless they get banned and don't create a new account and fly under the radar.  A lot of members are from countries where the money they can make on bitcointalk and the projects that advertise here is far more than they could make doing hard manual labor for 12 hours a day, so who in their right mind would choose the latter?
2465  Other / Meta / Re: Some members are more priviledged than others? on: November 03, 2021, 12:07:14 AM
ArcusIsidar's thread is falsely accusing several forum members of scamming
Yeah, I'm curious about the "schemes under the table" part of his accusation, because he doesn't provide any evidence for such--or any evidence of anything at all.  That thread ought to be trashcanned instead of moved to Scam Accusations, because all it is is a mud-slinging mess of a thread.

That's not to say that green-trusted members haven't pulled off scams before, because they absolutely have (anyone remember MasterP?) but they don't remain on DT or green-trusted for long after their scams are uncovered.  But those members who've been trusted and who've scammed people aren't the ones ArcusIsidar mentioned, so it's really a BS thread.
2466  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BKEX EXCHANGE ASK 500 FOR "HANDLING FEES" TOTAL SCAMMERS on: November 01, 2021, 10:34:12 PM
This is rather normal on exchanges when depositing currencies on the wrong chain, ftx and Binance both have their fee if you want to recover funds that were deposited on the wrong chain.
OK, I think it'd be just good customer service to fix the problem without charging the customer for a silly error like this--but to charge $500?  That's just a straight-up shitty practice, and that tells me they're willing to gouge anybody and everybody they can, because obviously they care more about $500 than they do about keeping someone using their exchange and/or about a disgruntled customer creating a black mark on their reputation like OP did.

I've never heard of BKEX, by the way.  Are they a really small, unregulated exchange or one that just services a single country or something?

At this point im in serious doubt about if they will really transfer the tokens back after I pay the 500USD fee or its just another systemic scam of this exchange....
I'd be in doubt about that as well, and I bet you're quite conflicted as to what to do.  That's a lot of money you stand to lose if you don't pay them, and if you do, you run the risk of them stealing another $500 from you.  I wish I had some sage advice for you, but it's a tough call on this one.  If they don't have an extensive history of scam accusations against them, I might send the $500 (even though it's outrageous) but again, I don't know anything about BKEX.

Im talking now on the support email that appears on BKEX official website  --->   support@bkexer.com

But same shit  they keep asking the 500usd handling fee...
Pretty sure that's all you're going to hear from them, unfortunately.  Whatever you decide to do, keep this thread updated if you would.  I know I'm interested in the outcome.  Good luck.
2467  Economy / Reputation / Re: Quickseller is a dangerous person to deal with - avoid on: November 01, 2021, 09:17:21 PM
He is acting like a shill in attacking anyone who questions his project. Anyone capable of keeping an open mind will see this.
As DireWolfM14 mentioned, dkbit98 has had a short fuse lately....and I'd go so far as to say he's always burning a short one, because if my pathologically-constricted memory serves me correctly, he's been snippy with me a couple of times in threads about Ledger wallets, which I know he's not a fan of.  But I mean come on, QS.  You've been here a long time, and I know you've got a much thicker skin than this.

Yeah, but than I would make Bitcointalk forum a much more boring place than it is now
This is true, unfortunately.  I think a lot of us like a little drama mixed in with all the technical discussions and shitposts, as it makes this joint a little more lively--that's certainly true for me, as long as I'm not the center of the drama, but that hasn't happened for a while, and even then it was just some bitching by a group of zero-value members who I tagged years ago.

This thread is unhealthy and needs to be locked.
Man, if all the unhealthy threads got locked, where would all the fun come from?
2468  Other / Meta / Re: LETTER OF APPEAL FOR PERMANENT BAN LIFT on: November 01, 2021, 06:16:31 PM
Damn it, another user got caught plagiarizing after I helped them rank up.  Undecided
<snip>
How many examples have already been, how many have already been said about this, but all the same, newbie users have the same problem.  Sad
Well, you're a very generous merit source who likes to help out newbies, and there's nothing wrong with that--but you have to be very careful with very new members who consistently make exceptional posts, because on this forum that just isn't the norm.  And it's been the case many times that when you see newbies like that, they're usually plagiarizing.  It's that simple.

I never had any intention to go against the rule and once am been corrected i take heed and if its the quoting style used that is not professional enough then i will yield to suggested ideas.
If you got busted for plagiarism, there's little chance your ban is going to be reversed and you can forget about any improvements, because you're done on bitcointalk.
2469  Other / Meta / Re: Cheaters Hunters vs Spam Busters on: November 01, 2021, 12:05:25 PM
• I do not think anyone would get merits simply cause of the work they do in the forum, Sure you can get a couple but as a strategy to rank up, you would still need to be a decent poster.
Nah, cheater-hunters tend to get a decent amount of merits when they link a bunch of accounts for instance or expose a scam with a lot of evidence presented--and for the most part that merit is deserved, because those posts have a lot of time and effort put into them.

Spam-busting is something all members should try to do if they care about the forum at all, and without regard to any status or recognition it might bring.  I agree with the others that OP seems to be a bit focused on increasing rank and building a reputation here quickly, which does make some alarm bells ring in my head.  On the other hand, he's a decent poster so far and hasn't been outed as anyone's alt account (which has happened with members like mdayonliner and one or two others I can't remember).

OP, just keep doing what you're doing and you'll be fine.  Don't jump the gun, because it takes a while to become a known personality here and if it even appears that you're trying to do precisely that, it'll backfire in an instant.
2470  Economy / Economics / Re: What books do you recommend for economics? on: November 01, 2021, 11:43:46 AM
Are you looking for books on purely economics or are you including things like trading and business in your query?

There are some great books I've read about crazy business things, like The Smartest Guys in the Room (the Enron story) and When Genius Failed (about the LTCM debacle that nearly crashed the economy back in 1998).  They're great reads, even if they're about very specific events and not about general economics.

Books about stock trading, bubbles, and whatnot that I've read are The Intelligent Investor, Reminiscences of a Stock Operator (or anything about or written by Jesse Livermore), The Snowball (about Warren Buffett), Origins of the Crash (Roger Lowenstein is an excellent author on economic topics), Extraordinary Popular Delusions and The Madness of Crowds, and Tulipomania : The Story of the World's Most Coveted Flower & the Extraordinary Passions It Aroused.

If you really want to learn about general economics, I'd suggest picking up a textbook on it from Amazon or wherever.  I took a few econ courses in college, and they were very interesting.  If you have an opportunity to take a course in that area, I'd highly suggest doing so.
2471  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Youtube channel - what would you like to see? on: November 01, 2021, 11:28:43 AM
I am not surprised at all, google is censorship king right now and I think they are also deleting certain words and phrases (bitcoin could be one of them) not only links.
Yeah, it's funny how their original motto was "Don't be evil".  They've certainly veered way off course from the early days, and I'm not even sure how they defined "evil" back then.  Granted, censoring certain things isn't the worst offense known to man, but they're involved in all sorts of shady shit.

Not sure why they're deleting references to bitcointalk, unless the ".org" part is included, in which case their bots might detect it as link spam.  I can't see any reason why they'd have anything against the forum, so it's probably some kind of glitch in whatever nefarious algorithm they're running to detect words they don't approve of.  Speaking of that, videos made by paid Youtubers sound ridiculous.  They have to bleep out words like rape, profanity, and all sorts of other ones advertisers probably came up with that shouldn't be spoken.

I swear, 1984 is here, but it's not the government that's completely playing the big brother role.  I'd say corporations are filling that one nicely.
2472  Other / Meta / Re: Post Deleted For No Good Reason on: November 01, 2021, 11:08:13 AM
Man, I agree with what you wrote in that post and I wish there were videos on Youtube that actually criticized NFTs.  Instead, even if you search for "NFTs suck" or "NFTs are a scam" all you get are videos hyping the hell out of them.

What section did you post that in, anyway?  Was your post on topic?

One possibility is that one of the posts you quoted got deleted, because if I'm not mistaken when that happens yours gets deleted as well.  Another is that some really nuclear-hyped-up NFT fanboy reported your post for being negative toward them and a mod just agreed with the report without thinking about it too much--it's not a shitpost by any means, IMO, so I don't think it'd get reported otherwise.
2473  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Another HITBTC scam report - 2021 on: October 31, 2021, 10:18:10 PM
They are still operating because they don't ask you for any additional requirement upon registration and deposits. The platform is also opened for listing shit tokens either permanently or for a certain period of time [depends on how much the team is able to pay for listing, regardless its credibility].
Yeah, I used them once or twice for some obscure altcoin that could have been one of a few that I was interested in a while back, and they were the only exchange that listed it and that I could register on.  And yep, I got hit with the KYC requirement at the withdrawal step, and there was no mention of that upon registering.  True, I should have done more research before even thinking about doing business with them, but I didn't.  But that doesn't excuse them from leading people to believe that KYC isn't required.

Can you imagine a bank that lets you open an account and doesn't ask for your documents until you try to withdraw money?  That would be crazy.

And like Yobit exchange, HitBtc doesn't care that much about building a good repuation within crypto community.
True, but Yobit has never asked for KYC documents.  They just scam people in different ways.
2474  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Buying crypto in USA or canada on: October 31, 2021, 05:56:55 PM
KuCoin is the possible solution for this but there's a chance they will froze your funds [1]
I didn't read the link you posted, but from the title it looks like that applies to Canadian residents, and OP mentioned that his friend is in the US.  I'm not even sure Kucoin deals with fiat even if you're verified, though I could be mistaken.  And yes, you can trade USDT/BTC there, but first you have to get ahold of some USDT which presents a similar problem, i.e., finding an exchange.

If you're looking to trade 1:1, good luck.  I'd always recommend trying the Currency Exchange section on the forum, because there are always members looking to trade bitcoin for cash, though you have to know who you're dealing with and usually you never really do.  But 1:1 trades are definitely possible there.
2475  Other / Meta / Re: [LOG] The ranked up members - Congratulations! on: October 31, 2021, 05:47:26 PM
As one of the users who is listed as a spammer[/url] then I salute your desire and persistence to improve the quality of your posts so that you can rank up to Legendary.
Huh.  I didn't know actmyname had tagged him as a spammer--not that would have influenced my decision to help ShowOff out with merits, because he's obviously improved his posting habits since that feedback was given in January.  I haven't looked at ShowOff's posts from that period, but if they were bad enough to deserve that feedback, then I'd say the leopard has changed its spots in this case.

You are right, because the spammer label assigned by a forum user [DT or other User] on a profile via a neutral or negative tag does not fully prove that the user will forever remain a spammer.
That's obviously true in ShowOff's case as I just mentioned, but that example is an exception to the rule, not the norm.  Most shitposters who've come here to earn money from bounties or whatever tend to remain shitposters for the rest of their time on the forum (at least that's what I've observed).
2476  Economy / Reputation / Re: Quickseller is a dangerous person to deal with - avoid on: October 31, 2021, 03:44:22 PM
No, I never had anything to do with him and I certainly never attacked him in any way.
If this is what he considers to be an attack on him than I think that something is seriously wrong with him, and I hope he gets well soon:
dkbit98, I would just roll with this and let it slide off you like water from a duck's buttocks.  Maybe Quickseller is in a bad mood or on his period.  Don't get slick with sweat and anger over this, because it's just words.  A few of us have had beefs with him and other members of the forum just like you and QS did, and the best thing to do is not to escalate it--it'll never end otherwise, and it's just not worth the time and mental energy to argue continuously over something that to me seems extremely trivial.

Funny how you bumped this particular thread to air your grievance in public, by the way.  I'm amused by it.
2477  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Where should I incorporate to protect my assets in binance on: October 31, 2021, 06:31:04 AM
In Indonesia, the tax policy on crypto ownership has not been regulated despite several plans.
That's odd that any government right now wouldn't have some sort of tax or regulatory policy regarding cryptocurrency.  It's not like bitcoin was introduced to the world a few months ago--governments have had over a decade to figure out how they're going to deal with its existence.

The best people to talk to are Binance themselves as they will guide Mr John with facts and right way of going about this. Just avoid pseudo names when something goes wrong it's a tedious process to resolve.
I agree with all of that.  Sounds like a somewhat complicated situation OP's described--and I'd also second the opinion of those who advised OP's friend not to use Binance like a bank.  This is crypto we're talking about, not fiat, and while Binance might be the most reputable exchange out there, there's no telling what could happen with them or any other exchange.  It's far better to control your own bitcoin (or whatever coin) using wallets that you yourself control.
2478  Other / Meta / Re: No begging - did I catch on rule #7 on: October 31, 2021, 03:58:42 AM
I do agree that the no begging rule should be enforced more evenly, or clarified to be acceptable under certain circumstances.
I agree, because why would established forum members be allowed to "beg" but not others?  And even though I pose that question, I know damn well that a member here who's got a good reputation and appears to be asking for donations for something is likely to be legitimate in his/her request than someone who just registered here and created a thread with some sob story and asking for money.

I'd prefer clarification as to what's considered "begging" as opposed to equal enforcement, because I think it ought to be allowed to ask for donations for things like that biliary atresia surgery but not "Im poor, plz donate to [insert bitcoin addy here]" and there's a big difference between the two--and yet both can be considered begging.
2479  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live Update on: October 31, 2021, 02:17:19 AM
Yes.
You want to bet that this is not the end of it?
Lol.  Give OP a little bit of a break (or not; it's your choice).  He's clearly expressed interest in crypto and hardware wallets for quite a while now, but he's just a tad more paranoid and perhaps OCDish than the rest of us--and way more paranoid than a bitcoiner needs to be about security.

And I too downloaded at least 3 different Ledger Live updates in the last few weeks.  One of them was the update to the software itself, and the others were for specific wallets.  No problems, and this is business as usual for Ledger as far as I'm concerned.
2480  Economy / Reputation / Re: Lacking Activity to reach Full Member on: October 30, 2021, 01:52:26 AM
This is one of the best awards in particular (for me personally), I will try to do my best as I should.
Well, it's obvious you're already trying--that's why I gave you all those merits.  So just keep up the good work and I doubt you'll have trouble climbing the ranks here.  Legendary will be the hardest, since it requires not only 1000 merits but an activity score that's random, but if you stick around and at least maintain the same quality of posts as you've been making thus far, it'll happen.

Thanks again for the offer. Yes and one more thing I not very fluent in English, so it looks messy Smiley
I didn't intend that as a jab toward you.  It was just to point out that as far as giving merits, I'm looking for posts that at least make sense and that have obviously been thought through.  I've probably lowered my standards as far as grammar goes, but they're still pretty high and I think it's about time I lowered them anyway.

Ultimately this is a forum where we communicate through writing, so one should have some proficiency in the language they post in, but I do realize there are people here from all over the world whose first language isn't English.
