2461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Real Reason Why Bitcoin Price Shot Up Today on: October 26, 2019, 05:10:46 AM
The real reason why bitcoin price shot up today may have nothing to do with China's president announcement that they may reserve the blockchain and crypto exchange ban. Read this article about the real reason and let me know what you think.

https://www.cryptozink.io/real-reason-why-bitcoin-price-shot-up-today-china-crypto-news/
Quite possible that we're just having a bubble right now. But we'll still see if it would hover around a little below $10k or it would burst back to somewhere $8k. We're all just speculating the reason's why and the news regarding China may also be possible, but more unlikely than the article's author point of view. I still wish it would just go sideways and does not dip back down, we might see another great time for bitcoin.
2462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China's President Xi Jinping VS Bitcoin on: October 26, 2019, 04:09:29 AM
I'm thinking that he really does not want Bitcoin taking over his country, especially a large percentage of mining rigs are located in his country, and he does not like that. China's a communist type of government and most likely, they are preparing their country to shift from bitcoin to his cryptocurrency. In which I suppose would be centralized, he want surveillance and control over his people. It's like precautionary measure because he knows that cryptography with blockchain technology would soon be the next thing.
2463  Economy / Speculation / Re: Let this rise be a lesson - Bitcoin isn't strongly tied to anything on: October 26, 2019, 03:03:44 AM
As you know, every time there's a major price movements, the next day people, especially crypto journalists, start coming up with their own explanations why it happened - they try to tie it to some political or economical events in the world, statements by important individuals or organizations, correlation with some other markets, something related to mining and so on and so on.

Well, today Bitcoin went up by 14% ($1,000) without absolutely no reason - nothing important happened today that could have shaken the price so much. Let this be a lesson to people who look for patterns - Bitcoin is random and unpredictable in short terms, just accept it.
While this is true in some points, it could be also due to China's president statement about the support of the government to blockchain-related technologies. But take note that he said 'blockchain' and not 'bitcoin' which may have made some confusion. Let's just hope it's not tied to anything and it's not just another bubble that would burst sooner than we might think. It's really difficult to predict the causes of these pumps and dumps but it's likely to be caused by some whales in the market.
2464  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price today ! on: October 26, 2019, 02:24:25 AM
It's probably that, and China's president announcing support on blockchain technologies could have gained attention especially from the miners and crypto-people in China. However, I don't think their government support bitcoin in particular, they're gonna make their own cryptocurrency, which I'm not sure how would it affect the prices in few years time. Hopefully, China won't ban bitcoin despite their opposition, because if they would, it would shake the bitcoin network and most probably the market.
2465  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin hit a new low since 2018 on: October 26, 2019, 01:49:32 AM
Now some people on the Internet predict that bitcoin will hit a new low since 2018. Is this someone harvesting leeks and alarmist? Historically, there seems to be a similar voice every time prices fall. Our retail investors are reduced to leeks every time.
We can only predict and speculate but we'll never guess it right. And as of now, we're nearing the $10k mark and looks like it's going to continue. Hoping for another bull market though, but cannot guarantee because the price is so unpredictable. That 7k to 9k pump almost took only half a day to happen. Those who bought at low surely got some hefty profit. I wished I had bought at that time though, but risk is a factor to decisions.
2466  Economy / Speculation / Re: Cryptos Are Exploding Higher, Bitcoin Up Over $1,000 In Minutes on: October 26, 2019, 01:21:49 AM
I was also surprised of the pump. I haven't expected it to happen sooner than I think. What do you think caused such increase in price?

I just hope it won't dip back to where it came from and we see the start of the bull market. Although this signifies bitcoin demand, I could also see the potential risk that comes eith bitcoin investment. Also, these trends tend to be followed by another dip.
2467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you waste your time for 5 cents worth of bitcoin? on: October 26, 2019, 12:15:34 AM
I am doing market research for a potential project.
If there was a website you could go to daily where you would earn anywhere from 1 cent - 10 cents worth of bitcoin just for clicking a button, would you do it?
No strings attached, no deposit required. You go to the website, push a button and 5 cents is deposited into your wallet. Would you go every day and do it, or is it not worth your time?
Unlimited clicks with no intervals or with interval limits? If I could spam that button, I'd happily do so because it's easy. And see if they'll really payout. But with intervals, I won't waste my time. I don't really think this sites are profitable. You might earn such small amount but the site owner who would put a lot of advertisement in the site would just gain more, exploiting your greed towards few cents to profit much more amounts from you. I always remember that time is more valuable than anything. You can't get back time, so do your thing while you have time to do so.
2468  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the difference between altcoin and bitcoin ?? on: October 25, 2019, 03:25:56 PM
I am a Newbie member, and my knowledge about this is still very low
What is the difference between Bitcoin and altcoin in more detail Huh
thanks admin
To summarize and hand you some takeaways from as far as my knowledge can provide, here are some keypoints to remember about bitcoin and altcoins.

Bitcoin - the first decentralized cryptocurrency.
   a. Decentralized, exists on every full node on the network.
   b. Limited supply, therefore deflationary.
   c. Development of features is slow, but is good to ensure security.
   d. No central founder/institution. Made by a person named Satoshi Nakamoto, which identity isn't verified until now.

Altcoins - variations based on Bitcoin's network and blockchain framework.
   a. Over 4,000 altcoins exist in the market.
   b. More prone to full shut down in times of crash.
   c. Some are decentralized, while others like stablecoins are manipulated.
   d. Often features something Bitcoin still does not have.
2469  Economy / Economics / Re: China’s President Xi Urges Accelerated Blockchain Technology Adoption on: October 25, 2019, 02:36:42 PM
Blockchain could really transform the way government officials work under the administration. Blockchain follows principles such as transparency, and security through blocks hash. However, it's seems that China is not going to tolerate decentralized system, instead they're making their own "digital currency" that would still be monitored, but at least transparent provided that the ledger is distributed and not hidden centralized.  Corrupt acts would potentially lessen and therefore makes progress faster for the country.
2470  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: Brave Browser Crypto Rewards Program on: October 25, 2019, 09:24:14 AM
I'm not quite familiar with that Brave browser, nor is it legitimate and does actually pay off (which I assume is a yes since that payout amount is small), but it's also one great way for people to know about cryptocurrencies. It does help crypto in gaining more publicity and trigger their curiosity to learn more and potentially invest. However, I just hope it's not another scam because it would certainly affect crypto's image to the public. I have also not heard of BAT altcoin, but nevertheless, quite impressive for a browser to have a touch of cryptocurrency.
2471  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could Ransomware Be Driving Up Bitcoin Prices? on: October 25, 2019, 08:41:01 AM
Research is suggesting that the number of ransomware incidents has risen in 2019. The payment method of choice for the majority of this cybercrime is cryptocurrency, predominantly bitcoin. Could BTC price fluctuations be linked to the increase in this online nefarious activity?

https://bitcoinist.com/could-ransomware-be-driving-up-bitcoin-prices/
I don't think people paying in BTC is enough for the price fluctuations we see today. Besides, the price today isn't really doing good. The OP has a point but I don't think it's enough factor that could drive the price up. It's still mainly by whales, or by trading which is primarily affected by news and such. I also don't think that it would do any good even if BTC is introduced to innocent victims via these ransomwares, because most likely, the victims would remember BTC in a negative way, as used in illegal activities.
2472  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Cointelegraph's Facebook account was actually blocked on: October 25, 2019, 04:46:45 AM
There were reports of Cointelegraph's Facebook account being unreachable and many of us guessed many reasons for that but now it's confirmed that the Facebook account of Cointelegraph, one of the popular crypto news site was actually blocked by Facebook. They don't know the real cause but facebook has on it's terms that they may block anyone that promotes online real money. The Facebook page is now unlocked and visitable.

We can't really know Facebook's agenda here, or they're just following terms and conditions in their platform and did not intend to block Cointelegraph specifically. There are no evidences that proves it is because of Libra, but theories are always there. It's not also impossible that it is because of Libra, but we can only speculate as of now. They may want to censor other crypto-related pages in preparation for their own cryptocurrency.
2473  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pro-bitcoins Politicians on: October 25, 2019, 04:06:44 AM
It's great to see that even some politicians are aware and in favor of cryptocurrencies. But I don't think it's enough, and that we'll see mass adoption in a few years. We're still far away of global adoption due to other relevant factors such as technology's availability and such. I think what's needed to be done first is to fix the current system, lessen poverty, help third-world gain economic stability, and all would follow, including adoption of digital and cryptocurrencies.
2474  Economy / Economics / Re: Fiat currency value and Economy debt on: October 25, 2019, 02:36:18 AM
We cannot say it would even hit those prices. However, you're right, great debts made to invest would fireback and crash of prices would happen, economic crisis is yet to start again. However, the same is true with fiat. With more debt to purchase, and higher prices, leads to crisis. But I don't think that would happen even if the next halving occurs. We just need to wait and handle the situation to make the most out of it.
2475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 10 Common Mistakes Beginner Cryptocurrency Traders Do on: October 25, 2019, 01:28:54 AM
Well!! Did you know?

Trading crypto is one of the risky thing as a lot of people starts trading without the knowledge of cryptocurrency market.
As a crypto beginner trading crypto safely is one of the best idea ever.

What's your take on this?
A good read for someone starting in trading. However, it's not enough to only know their mistakes, it's essential that they learn from these and utilize these learnings to lessen wromg decisions in trading. The best way to learn is to fail. But having the same failure over and over won't lead you to success. Takeaways can be summarized to: Do research, know what's in the news, and assess which factors would affect the price, and also learn to allot funds on personal neccessities. Don't go all in.
2476  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Financial Censorship, just another reason that bitcoin is important on: October 25, 2019, 12:55:59 AM
Bitcoin effectively removes most of the constraints you get from centralized financial institutions such as banks. The only thing I can think of that could be a limitation to having bitcoin transactions is lack of computer literacy, or lack of available technology. Aside from that, bitcoin is a free platform, free from governing institutions that manipulate and control prices, impose tax and additional fees for transactions. We can also get privacy if we didn't provide KYC, but remains transparent because every transactions are searchable in the blockchain.
2477  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin using or need! Vs stable coins on: October 25, 2019, 12:16:38 AM
Investing in stablecoins would take you too much time to ear profit. That's why investors are not attracted to stablecoins. Bitcoin may not increase in price today, but it's limited supply would make its price potentially pump. Another thing is that bitcoin has already proven itself that it's worth to hold. If they're useless as you're saying, then people would not hold or even trade bitcoin, they'll just sell it off because it's worth nothing, which is clearly not the case. Also, because fewer people engage in these altcoins, market crash and crypto-related negative news would likely bring death to these altcoins. Who would invest on something that may be gone and not recover? Seems like more risk than bitcoin.
2478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Zuckerberg: we will exit from project Libra !!!! on: October 24, 2019, 02:28:47 PM
Zuckerberg: if legislators’ trust is not gained, we will exit from project Libra
CEO of Facebook in a hearing in front of the Congress said that Facebook is no longer in the position of project controller and the operation of Libra is independent.
What do you think about this?
It's better if you had provided links to verify the thread. Anyways, it's not much of a deal. Libra is just another altcoin. The only thing different to it is that it's supposed to be ran by Facebook, which can influence the public. And another thing is that I think he can't get the votes of legislators because of the fact that Facebook has been involved in privacy concerns, considering the amount of data Facebook has in each of its users, add to it the supposed to be Libra, which would also run through their databases, it would just make things worse.
2479  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Korean Crypto Market is ‘Pretty Dead’, Says Primitive Ventures Founder on: October 24, 2019, 01:43:45 PM
Korean traders have thrown in the towel, with crypto trading volumes visibly lower over the last few months. The Kimchi premium is now completely gone, and the slower volumes have wiped out the markets for multiple altcoins.
https://bitcoinist.com/korean-crypto-market-is-pretty-dead-says-primitive-ventures-founder/
Altcoins tend to crash to death because primarily, they're worth cannot be stated. Considering the market for altcoins is crowded, and most of these so called coins offer nothing of real value to be holded by investors, makes them prone to irrecoverable death. Their basically useless in the sense, but not all of them. ETH and other top altcoins still has something in them. Just don't expect altcoins to continue to grow or even surpass bitcoin in the next few years because it's highly unlikely to happen.
2480  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Quantum Computing News Utilized to Manipulate Markets and Crash BTC on: October 24, 2019, 12:33:31 PM
It could be a possibility, however we can't tell whose agenda is it. We don't really know what's in store to these institutions and what they're planning to crash the bitcoin price. However, ehat we could do is to educate people here in the forum and other holders that we shouldn't really be afraid of this "quantum supremacy" as they say. There are some videos online dedicated to explaining if quantum computers could really break encryption, and the answer is no. We need to encourage them not to get driven by these news. Or maybe it's a cooperation of a whale and media site to dip the price? No one knows.
