Bitcoin Conference 2011 NYC

EDIT:  We have announced that it WILL be August 18-21, here in NYC, at the OnlyOneTV Studios.

______

We're happy to host the event at our new OnlyOneTV Studios here on 5th Avenue in Manhattan, New York City.   We have the entire 5th floor, lots of room, lots of internet, etc.  ....and restaurants deliver free.  :-)

I'm envisioning presentations.... even "booths" or tables...  and hackathons with specific objectives.   We can even go into the wee hours if we want to.

What could be more fun?

( We just registered http://bitcoinconference.com )

Reply with a cc to me via email to be certain I get it:  bruce@onlyonetv.com

Making plans to be here. I haven't seen my dad in a few years, he lives in Manhattan, so perfect opportunity ! Cheesy What is your aim here exactly? Do you want publicity? Or do you want this to be a closed meeting? I have advanced experience in social marketing, and we can make this event epic if we try hard enough..
2484  Bitcoin / Project Development / TweetForum - Bitcoin Forum - Earn Bitcoins by Posting! on: June 12, 2011, 11:51:51 AM
We now have a Bitcoin Paid to Post program at TweetForum. We would have came out with this alot sooner, but unfortunatley our forum was hacked by some unknown individual(s), and that knocked us off for atleast a good 4 days. We spent most of that time recovering the database, and filling up some security flaws that were internal in our forum platform (SMF). We are now in the process of building TweetForum 2.0 which will be a fully custom built platform, that will truely define the vision I had when I started TweetForum.
But for now here it is,
TWEET FORUM: BITCOIN PAID TO POST PROGRAM

We are currently paying 0.00000100 BTC for every post you make.

Here are the details for our Paid to Post Bitcoin program, which allows good posters to earn Bitcoins simply by posting on Tweet Forum!

1. All new members are automatically signed up for this program, however to obtain the rewards all participants of this program must abide by the rules and regulations put forth by the forum Administrators.

2. All participants of this program must do the following to get paid,

A. Keep new topics limited to 10 threads per day. If you are caught making more than 10 new threads per day, and/or duplicating older threads, you will be disqualified from the program.

B. Posts must be at least 3-5 sentences long (1 paragraph). This is to prevent spam and one liners!

C. Copy and pasted articles/videos should always include a 1 paragraph opinion

D. Must be in good forum standing. If you are known for trolling or simply causing problems, you will automatically be disqualified from the program and possibly even banned...

3. Payouts can be claimed as soon as a poster has earned 0.0.00000100 BTC, and must be claimed to me. I will review your account and make sure you have been posting to these standards and you will get paid immediately.

Follow these rules, and you will get paid! It’s that simple…
This is a beautiful opportunity to not only grow the Tweet Forum community, but also to expand the Bitcoin economy beyond the traditional stigmas that are associated with it. This is also a perfect opportunity to give new users the option to earn some real Bitcoins, and get to seriously know the Bitcoin platform without having to invest a dime. Another note about this program is that you can post ANYWHERE in Tweet Forum and still get paid. You are not limited to posting only in the Bitcoin section, and as you folks can see it shouldn’t be too hard to find something to talk about on Tweet Forum Wink. I hope to see all of you taking this great opportunity seriously!

-FlipPro

Note: The rules & regulations of this program can change at any time. So can the exchange rate, so please stay tuned to this post, and if there are any needed changes to the program we will make those available for you.

Stil feeling confident triforce?
I was going to ask him the same thing.
I'm not going anywhere! The price can drop to pennies, I will still support bitcoin! I believe in the system and so I can look beyond the price. My only real concern would be the degradation of the network via hacking/glitches.
Which is impossible, as long as everyone is connecting with the same software.
2486  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Earn 131BTC or 1BTC for getting shops/organisations to accept Bitcoin! on: June 11, 2011, 09:34:08 PM
How do you think google will become self aware? Is the system getting smarter? or u just being sarcastic lol :p
2487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All bitcoin detractors and supports of the USD get in here! on: June 11, 2011, 09:29:18 PM
Bitcoins will reinforce the work that these people do in real life Smiley, by making americas dollar stronger.

it seems like it takes way more effort to hide ill-begotten gains than to just earn them legally  Grin
thats the beauty of the system, great post..

Theres no such thing as a "partially decentralized" or "partially anonymous" or "partially digital currency" - some things really ARE black or white.  You get the right to just ignore the posts, just like everybody else does.  They sink to the bottom until people respond.  AKA "Feeding the Trolls"
I'm not one to feed the trolls. But please understand your reasons for being into bitcoins may not be the same reasons why others are getting into it. Maybe the fact that Garzik came out and said that transaction really are traceable, will kill the idea that this is going to be some super underground, network. Garzik really let the rabbit out of the hat when he said that during the Yahoo interview. If you think that bitcoins aren't already working with the government, than you are a fool.. It has been hinted out multiple times, and like I said I will make the epic post tonight, so pay attention, than you can rebuttal me all night Smiley.

Tracable?  I'm pretty sure its RUN by the government.  I think we're all getting paid BTC to hash out Bin Laden's secret computer porn stash or whatever the fuck right now.  Who else would be interested in computing power better than the top 500 supercomputers combined?

So you agree with me, and think it is run by the government? check my post for tonight

Bitcoins + USdollars can coexist and benefit the entire world  Roll Eyes. Groundbreaking Epic Post coming tonight...
No! You are either with us or against this great nation's currency! No anarchist ruffian regime deserves the acknowledgement nor cooperation of our sacred economic plan! How dare you!? This is absolute treason!
;P if anarchist want to use bitcoins for their anarchist plans, all the power to them. But people who want to turn these coins into green, are going to have to pay the price... I am willing to give up 30% on my rate just so the government can finally get serious and start paying off some of this debt. Don't you see atlas, the government taxes the exchangers from the backend, the exchangers pass the fees to people who want to exchange their coins for greens, and all of a sudden America pays it's debt off in a record setting 4 years (Obama's second term) making bitcoins (for all we know an American invention, look at all the guys , all geeky americans Tongue ,my fav type of people btw) the sole engine to paying the us debt off, and making the USD a real competing currency in the 21'st century. Obama said "a new technology would come and save us all" . Please read my post tonight it will be epic..

JustAGuy89: Also, in case I may seem bitter in my replies to your posts (specifically in the black market thread,) I just want you to realize that I'm never attacking you. For some reason, all of my posts today are seeming to me like they can be read offensively, and that's not what I want.
I am a forum warrior no problems bud. Forums make us learn from each other, I have already read many of your posts, and I can say I have learned lots of new stuff from you. Discussion and vigorous debate is crucial to a community's ultimate success. My apologies to Atlas, but goes back to my original point. How is an investor who has never been here before, and who dosen't know atlas (I didn't know him..) is going to be able to differentiate him from all other 1000 posts. We are just contributing to the problem. Shit I'M contributing to the problem just by replying to this thread :p
2493  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Price going back up again! on: June 11, 2011, 07:12:38 PM
Buying new rigs at this point is so-so at this point unless you get a lot of hashing power (talking 3-5ghash/s or better).

If price climbs with difficulty, you win and have zero risk (since you also get to keep your hardware & can sell it any time).
If it stagnates but diff. goes up to 1.3m - 2.0m, you are essentially mining for free, and in a few months earning 0.0BTC per month at 5m-10m difficulty.

I'm not bagging on miners, hell I mine at way past 10ghash/s. I'm saying it's becoming unprofitable soon, but time will tell if prices keep up.

Should prices stagnate at around $15 but difficulty goes past 5 million then I'm putting my rigs offline until difficulty decreases.
Even if we are all COMPLETELY wrong I can still sell the video cards 2 months from now and retain at-least 60% of my money back. At current difficulty, and exchange rate, ima be looking at roughly 1200-1600 on the first month. That cards can easily pay for themselves in one month.

BTW SICK MINE RATE  Cool

I like the fact that mining adds value to the network, and of course your going to try to steer me away from mining, it only makes your life harder ;p but unselfishness is the key to bitcoins success my friend. I am telling every single person I know, because I will get mine sir. I am not worried about it..

It's one thing to put a small message on your sig, its another thing to make a new post. New forum rule should be no new posts simply to beg...

Let's suppose what you're saying is true.

Let's suppose you're serious about the concept of BTC.

Let's say I'm you.

"I want to be involved with an unregulated, anonymous, decentralized currency.  I want to be involved in community discussions in the same manner.  However, I want the moderators to delete posts I don't agree with, and I want to limit what types of businesses can be dealt with."

Do you realize how schizophrenic that sounds?

Now for the next part:

"It's smart to be involved in BTC.  Smart people will see the value.  However, people will see a trolls first post on this board and be scared away."

If you want the types of businesses limited, and the types of discussion regulated, you really shouldn't be involved in BTC at all; you've missed the entire concept.
If life were as simple as you made it seem things would be so much better. You have the type of ideology that the world is either black or white. There is no middle road. I want the moderators to delete posts that are either obvious spam,or scams. Why is that so hard ? And I actually came up with a voting system so that it can be democratic.. it would take 5 mins and a simple SMF mod to install.. http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1890
2498  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Price going back up again! on: June 11, 2011, 06:47:48 PM
Swear on my life. I think investing in them at this point in time is stupid as hell. Why invest when you can easily mine? Obviously the technically challenged may have a hard time, but they could easily hire a computer geek to get the job done for them, and get still get more value from mining than from actual investments. I am waiting to save up enough money to get 2 6990's and start RIGHT....

2500  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Introducing BitLaunder - Money laundering done right! on: June 11, 2011, 06:43:13 PM
I am now starting to realize that the biggest problem with bitcoins, isn't bitcoins. It's people's disgusting ability to manipulate anything to their unfair and inconsistent advantage.

You mean like the government does?
Were supposed to be the good guys....

or atleast make an attempt to be the good guys. I have alot of sympathy for people creating casinos/pokerrooms/ and any other "questionable" websites so long they go through the rigorous testing required to make them secure. But money laundering, when its not even needed? You can make separate bitcoin addresses and send each transaction to a SEPARATE ADDRESS, sending from SEPARATE addresses. Sending money to a known launderer who may be tracked by the government only heightens your chances of getting CAUGHT ! Why not just make separate transactions, in small amounts, to separate addresses, if you are so worried about privacy?  I hate to shit on your site but is only more bad publicity. Anyone defending bad publicity is only out to benefit in the short term.

THINK ABOUT IT...
