Any idea when we will be able to cash out? It is worrisome (to me, anyway) leaving BTC profits on website for extended periods of time.

Cheers for all of your hard work Smiley

freshzive, your btc could not be in better hands.

Ok guys. Thanks for all the off topic banter. It's been fun, but lets try to keep this thing on the subject in the title.
2483  Economy / Services / Re: GPUMAX | The Bitcoin Mining Marketplace on: January 23, 2012, 12:57:29 AM
We are rocking away on shares.  We've almost had 100% public work since we launched the purchasing side.  Miners are making some great money for their time.  Keep up the good work guys. Smiley

This is no joke. I have been pointing 32Gh at gpumax since they started letting miners on and I have to say this thing is about as solid as it gets. At first I was using it as a proxy to repoint hashes quickly. But now that they are leasing shares, my miners are making extra btc just by pointing my hashes to gpumax.

This app is the real deal. They are going to kill it in this niche.
2484  Economy / Lending / Re: 30 day 100 btc loan to Shakaru on: January 22, 2012, 05:57:31 PM
Shakaru has paid 2.59 BTC so far.

The rest of the BTC should be here by the end of the week.
2485  Economy / Lending / Re: 30 day 100 btc loan to Shakaru on: January 22, 2012, 01:24:11 PM
KK, If I dont pay before 8pm tonight, its because I have an family obligation for a better part of my day and dont have the Yubi key with me. It will be sent today though. Can you send me your address one more time?

If you could also put some dates around when these other btc payments are coming in, it would really help.

Thanks,
James

Hi Andrew,

Please do what you say you are going to do.

Thanks,
James
2486  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT - Easy persistent USB key based linux for dedicated miners/mining farms on: January 22, 2012, 03:52:41 AM
I'll do it for "free".  Somebody made a huge donation recently and I feel guilty.

However, it will be a while, and I'd really like to help someone else do this rather than do it myself, because I'd really like to find someone that can maintain BAMT as it deserves.

As for the source, it is entirely available right in the BAMT image (all source for all BAMT tools and changes is in the image itself).   The BAMT scripts are all just perl, and phoenix is just python, so they are provided in source form by their very nature.

edit - BTW if instead of paying me, you would pay someone else to learn how to do this from me, that would be very cool

Awesome on the donation!!! There have been a couple of threads lately where BAMT has been mentioned.

I was hoping you had the source for the different parts of the mining code in a repository somewhere and some kind of build process for including it into an image of the OS.

I'll pledge to donate 10 bitcoins to see phoenix upgraded with a new patch released. I also pledge to keep evangelizing BAMT every opportunity I get so that you continue to receive donations for your work.
2487  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT - Easy persistent USB key based linux for dedicated miners/mining farms on: January 22, 2012, 03:43:20 AM
This is not a simple task.  The phoenix we use in BAMT has many custom changes that must be ported to the new version.

I have considered doing the work, but would be delighted if someone else wants to take charge here.

lodcrappo, what kind of btc would it take for you to do this. I am assuming you already have all of the source somewhere outside of the img of the OS. What would you like to get paid to do this work?
2488  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT - Easy persistent USB key based linux for dedicated miners/mining farms on: January 22, 2012, 03:36:54 AM
Looks like the latest version of phoenix is now compatible with p2pool. Is there anyone who would like to take on the challenge of creating an upgrade package for BAMT?

I will pay you in BTC to do it.

The only thing BFL needs to do is deliver product as ordered.

Which they already failed massively on...

My understanding is that if anyone with an active order is not happy about how this situation is progressing, they are free to get a refund at any time ... I'm not sure what the big deal is.  Huh

so to maximize profits large pools can do blockchain-hopping every 2 weeks?
i guess to answer this i will need a better understanding of how the difficulty is set...

There is only 1 block chain.

You would point your hashing power to gpumax to make MORE than PPS rates when mining.

You might want to purchase hashing power if you feel you are going to be lucky or you are running your own pool / pool software to test things out. You might want to rent hashing power for other reasons too.

It would be wise of you to read more and post less until you have a better grasp of what is going on. It took me months, but I'm dumb so it might not take you as long.
2492  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ben's Outlet WTF - Paid for 5870, got 5850 on: January 21, 2012, 07:24:55 PM
The single 5870 I ordered from them arrived in the same cardboard box without any documentation.  Definitely refurbished, but in very nice condition.

Fortunately, the thing runs beautifully.

I installed the 10 5870s I purchased from them and 2 are bad. Guess I'll be getting a refund on those.

I already quoted and responded to that shit...

Verified.

Anyone try this with 5830's yet?

How much are your electricity rates?   Roll Eyes

$0.07585/Kw for the 208v.

After everything is said and done (taxes, fees, 120v, etc) the effect rate right now is about $0.12/Kw.

The effective rate will go down as I bring on more hashing power.
2496  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ben's Outlet WTF - Paid for 5870, got 5850 on: January 20, 2012, 11:05:02 PM
Wow- so I just opened my order of 5 5870's from Ben's outlet and they turned out to be 5850's. BO has not contacted me to tell me they couldn't fill my order or w/e. If I pull up my order on BO it still shows 5870s.

I'm so pissed it is difficult to type this. I get maybe 4 days home a month and I don't know what to do. New 5870's are pretty much impossible to find for a reasonable price right now. What should I do? I'm sure BO doesn't have any 5870s in stock. Should I get a refund and wait another month? Should I just keep these and try and get a credit for the difference? I bought parts for another rig and I wouldn't have done that unless there were 5850s.

I fucking hate BO now.

So you opened the package and the cards are labeled 5850 on the side?

Or are they labeled 5870 and run like 5850s?

How much would be the minimum investment? I'd love to invest with you but am currently a bit short on bitcoins Smiley

Hi vuce, if I go with the first option, I would want a limited number of investors just so that I can keep the overhead low.

As far a quantities, PM me.
2498  Economy / Lending / Re: Appetite for debt issued from my mining business on: January 20, 2012, 10:20:38 PM
I would be interested to invest.
PM me know when you decide to start this.

PM sent.
2499  Economy / Lending / Re: Appetite for debt issued from my mining business on: January 20, 2012, 09:22:15 PM
Did you forget about electricity?
Did you forget about the time value of labor?

Also your "analysis" is wildly optimistic.  $300 for 5970 is pretty much as good as it gets.  800 MH/s isn't sustainable.  Difficulty and/or price will change and bond holder is partially insulated from that.

Thanks for posting about the time value of labor. I really haven't considered how valuable my time is in all of this but this is definitely a consideration. In my consulting work, my normal fee is $200 an hour but I like doing bitcoin related stuff so much, I just consider it play time.  Cheesy
2500  Economy / Lending / Re: Appetite for debt issued from my mining business on: January 20, 2012, 09:17:21 PM
I am not trolling and hope this message is taken as constructive feedback. Regarding the bond @ 4% idea, consider this:

At the current difficulty (1.25m) and exchange ($6.25/BTC), a $300 5970 (hashrate 800Mhash/s) would generate $4 per day, or $122 per month.

Obviously a 5970 cannot exist in a vacuum. It needs a PC, electricity, cooling, space to run it in ... let's be generous and say all that infrastructure and support doubles the price of that card to $600.

So back to our calculations: a $600 investment would be generating $122/month. Or, putting it another way, a 20% return PER MONTH. You are suggesting the bond offer 4%.

I understand that if anyone doesn't like the offered terms, they need not accept. But, to me at least, a 4% return does not seem very attractive/fair when I am aware that you are making at least 20%/month from my investment.

Hi Epoch,

Thanks for you post. You are missing a couple things that I will help fill you in on.

First, if I go with the bond, I will be paying interest out of my own pocket until the equipment arrives. It takes multiple weeks to negotiate deals for equipment, get it in, set it up, RMA failed equipment and all the other stuff that goes into building new rigs.

Second, I must be able to make enough btc to buy back the bonds upon their maturing. Otherwise, I would need to issue new bonds to pay back the old and continue the cycle of debt. So I would probably not be profiting at all until the debt is repaid. I would also be a month short of revenue and would also be down the interest paid in that first month.

Third, your calculations do not take into account downtime or costs to run the equipment.

Finally, I have the expertise to build and run this equipment and am able to deal with the heat, electricity and any other issue that may arise from these situations. I would also be able to recover in case of theft, fire or otherwise total loss of the DC.

I hope this helps clarify the true costs of doing something like this.
