2481  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Hackers steal $8 million from users running trojanized BitKeep apps on: January 02, 2023, 07:21:27 PM

What does it mean by “transactions not requiring verification” ? This is crazy, and as normal user or non technical person I’m not sure how to keep my funds secure if there are trojans like these which are able to extract the transactions just like that?

Wow, they are actually developing good trojans but it seems Wallet or App makers are not really making any progress with the security huh?

So how does it work, developers focus more on security breaching viruses rather than getting well paid jobs on the other side ?

The application is hijacked probably hacker had replaced the original file, so instead of downloading the official application, users downloaded the malwared version giving the hacker full control of the downloaded wallet's operation.

The file name was hijacked and a replica made out of the original. It's hard not to see loopholes on wallet apps, since it could be managed by greedy people; a person can betray the team and offer the main file name to the hackers.

I don't know where users download the virus-infected hijacked APK from?
If you aren't careful or trust random people on the internet, there are many ways to get infected and phished. Ask about good wallets or exchanges in crypto-related social media channels and groups and you will be bombarded with scam attempts and fake investment opportunities. Many people unfortunately don't realize how dangerous it is to trust such sources. Google isn't helping either with their negligence and willingness to advertise scams on top of search results if you pay them.

At first google was wary about cryptocurrency related adwords on their search engine, but such ads are now allowed, which is quite risky for users. Besides, most of these hackers and malicious app owners have authority websites that promotes their links too, which lure people to download their apps on app stores other than google play store. Moreover, android phones like huawei has its app store which seems to be less secured regarding the need of certificates before installing apps. On the other hand, some people are careless about all these requirements, and go ahead to confirm that they trust the app.

Quote
However, since the current attacks result from users getting scammed by trojanized APKs, it’s unlikely that there will be any refunds.

so since this is as a result of a careless company and uninformed users it's wrong to say that the affected users should be neglected with no refunds, it is suspicious.

Considering that the Company has taken this step to inform users about the hijack, what are their plans of stopping such a continuous attack on affected users, as the news may not get to everybody? The internet is not a place for the less informed, truly. Especially, on the cryptocurrency niche, a group of developers can conjoin and build a project, promote it, gain customers and feel reluctant about their safety. Exposing them to the wild world of hackers.
2482  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Is there good wallet decentralized app ? on: January 02, 2023, 07:12:47 AM
This description is like asking for a wallet that can't be attacked in any form. However, Of course, it depends on the type of Card, there exist multiple cards that can be configured to pay in cryptocurrency like Boltcards that can be linked to LNbits to make LN payments. But, that will be on a more technical level. An app generally cannot be fully decentralized and secure, they must be bugs, that is why people suggest open source wallets that is decentralized.

However, if you are referring to a card like MasterCard, it won't make any sense regarding decentralization. It'll be wrong to initiate such features on a decentralized cryptocurrency wallet, it's more like exchanges. In addition the bolt-card above can only work on store that supports LN, not all stores can accept the card payment, which sound abstract from your tone. Seems like you're referring to linking to banks just like Paypal. Far from reality.

Cryptocurrency is a body that won't have anything to do with the bank or any centralized payment body. In cryptocurrency, Atm exists, everything a currency needs to excel can be found in cryptocurrency as it's open source, anybody can contribute. Unless the banks adopts cryptocurrency, reverse won't be possible; cryptocurrency can't adopt the banks.
2483  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Types Of Online Casinos To Avoid.. on: December 30, 2022, 09:35:59 AM
A casino with no provably fair policy is a red flag and players are not expected to use such online Casinos because their betting outcomes is fabricated in favor of the casino, and players tend to loss out massively too. Aside from this forum, Casinomeister is a good forum that reviews the authenticity of an online casino for players. We must avoid any Casino with poor customer representative, and slow to solve a critical problem like payout or withdrawal issues. So, if a casino has a track record of withholding people's money, then its a red flag for players; such Casino shouldn't be patronized.

I agree with you that we should be doing research online before choosing a new casino for us. Reading reviews in forums like bitcointalk is my go to source to determine if a casino is legit or not. Trusting in a forum where you can see the user who wrote about the casino is much better than trusting in any of the many review websites. For example, if a senior or hero member here on the forum has an issue with the casino than I would give that claim much more weight than from an anonymous review online. Checking the provably fair policy is a good start, also looking at the ToS is a good indication how sophisticated the new casino is. The main issue would be of course if there are problems with withdrawals, withholding money from the gamblers is a big red flag and leads me to avoid that casino.

Casinomeister is not just a review site, just like this forum, member on there have their responses on different Casinos. However, I'm skeptic about your response on Hero members or legendary members being a better source to trust than review sites, people differs and one complaint from a reputable member here doesn't make a casino bad. Unless such a dispute is confirmed true and took till the end of time to get resolved. Users can then change their choice. Besides these, it's important to note that these casinos are being operated by different bodies, and can be far from perfection despite the technologies, and man power used to run the business. In essence, what you said about review sites is right on one hand, but on the other hand, not all casino is announced or listed on this forum. So, in such a scenario, online casino reviews can be a strong tool to help players have an internal view of the casino before signing up and depositing money.
2484  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the motives that drive you to gamble? on: December 30, 2022, 08:19:53 AM
Nothing, other than; risks, money and mastering my instincts. Getting Addicted to gambling makes me cautious and to follow my instincts while playing games. It's always fun to win some bucks out of a spare cash kept aside for gambling. And slightly sad to lose out the money, and developing a wavering mind or regretting, which is always too late, over other better, beneficial activities the lost money would have gone into. So, my brain after experiencing such mind debates, knowing that I may win or lose money, Keeps going back to cash gambling after winning big on demo gambling. Especially. Additionally Gambling cools off my stress and helps me make a better decision on some real life activities that requires a gamble of thoughts or decision, what to do or not. I'd say that the positive aspect of gambling draws me closer to risk some money, as I learn out of it and always cautious not to delve into the negative repercussions of Gambling.

A.I contents is a restructure of the original article or content. If used in the forum can easily be detected by spam trackers. Unless the user only posts threads, but if used for responses, I don't think A.I uses synonyms, the A.I writer is required to copy someone's comment and shuffle the words to change the context. Before responding. When concretly read the reader can detect easily that they've read such information and trace back to the original response. A.I is mainly used by bloggers and it's not worth to be used on forums.
2486  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Those who survived previous winter, please share some courage! on: December 28, 2022, 09:35:06 AM
The ball is in your court, it's certain that the market will go bullish. If you are a hodler keep holding and don't focus completely on the market price. Get busy with other things that can fetch you more bitcoin or altcoins. Though from the negative news on cryptocurrency, the bear market will stay for a longer time, the right move is to accumulate more BTC.
2487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should your wife or husband know your seed phrase? on: December 28, 2022, 09:22:33 AM
It's a nice thing to share our seeds with spouse in some cases, but the risk differs from persons to persons. Since nobody knows each other's mind it's always thoughtful to share the funds and observe how they spend the Bitcoin. If my spouse proves to be economical with the bitcoin I sent to her, I won't get sceptical to share seeds with her, though the disadvantage comes with divorce.

2489  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin My Best Chrismas Gift on: December 27, 2022, 07:23:30 AM
You took the right step since it placed a smile on your face, that's what matters. Loving to invest is also great, it's a sign that you'll make a better manager. However, it would have been funnier if you got the bitcoin from the store or mall other than buying no single gift from there.  You can maintain this attitude even after the Christmas season and given time the little sats you're gathering will amount to some huge amounts. Like the Reply above that says; don't forget to enjoy this transient life while pursuing your bitcoin investment.
2490  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BANKMAN-FRIED PANIC GAMBLES TO REPAY DEBT on: December 27, 2022, 06:32:05 AM
Exactly why SBF spent $100 million gambling in an online Casino like Stake, and the news didn't disseminate around authority blogs is still debatable, if the news is framed or genuine. Responding outside the box of SBF, using gambling as a vehicle to recover lost money is a plan to fail again. A person like SBF should think ahead of a better investment that'll yield him profits other than gambling. If he disburses $100 million to customers its a good beginning than losing everything at a casino. Coming back to SBF and the news, the keyword SBF has about 43 million search results, so blogs and sites would want to tap from the heavy traffic. It's most likely to be a false news.
2491  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How do I become a Campaign Manager? on: December 27, 2022, 04:51:00 AM
What Qualities Should a Bounty Campaign Manager Possess? I have a lot of interest to become a Bounty Campaign Manager.
How do I become a Bounty Campaign Manager?
Who will give me the project?

What skills can you offer to project admin for them to hire you, once the project is launched here in Bitcointalk the admin will receive a lot of offers coming from campaign managers and they will request them to look at their service announcements, you should have your own service announcement and post all your skills, what you can do, what you have done, projects you manage
and results you have delivered.

And is up to the admin of the project who he will pick but its always based on who has the experience to make the campaign successful and produce the best possible results, you are not late if you have not yet managed a campaign as long as you have a good resume that you can show even outside of this forum.

For me, rank has nothing to do with your qualification.

This is correct, OP, looking out for projects to promote here is not limited only in the forum. In addition, The strong skills you need for this job are research and analysis skills. Ability to determine a legitimate project that'll provide quality to members of this forum. Analyzing the quality of posts made by participants so as to obey the forum rule tailored to signature campaigns, which frowns at low quality posts and spamming the forum. Rank doesn't matter, quality skills does. If you perform great on your first job, you'll have a better chance of getting another.
2492  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Can not log in to my blockchain info account on: December 27, 2022, 04:29:22 AM
OP you need to crosscheck the password and be sure it's meant for the blockchain.info account, consider changing the Case of the first letter to Upper or lower case if already on one side. It's been long since you last visited the site and its certain like myself that you tweaked the password written on the notebook to maintain security, even if someone accessed the book and your device they may not access the account. Since its saying wrong password is probably that an incorrect password is imputed. Flashback and think, if that doesn't work then try the seed recovery procedure.
2493  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Global Drug Conspiracy Used Binance To Launder Millions In Crypto on: December 27, 2022, 04:02:55 AM
Such practices always have been the FBI's concern, bitcoin being used for illicit transactions; drug cartels used gold in the past to launder money now it's bitcoin. And the medium used for the transaction is always in trouble when discovered. Binance CZ may have lots of questions to answer and tracing to do regarding this operation. KYC is quite useless in tracing people, it'll always lead to the wrong person. I don't understand why it's needed if it can be manipulated. Though the FBI has enough tools to track the people involved, these drug cartels are not dumb people. The blame will be on Binance and cryptocurrency, which drain the reputation of crypto on daily basis.
2494  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If your friend would tell you this... on: December 27, 2022, 02:34:16 AM
This is just for discussion purposes, it'll be hard to find such a confusing offer. I don't think any friend of mine would offer such a proposal, but if any does, I'd ask him what he wants? and remind him that it's gambling and not an investment, if he actually wants to stake the money whether win or loss. To clarify he is right with his decision, they should be a witness around that'll testify what happened in case things go wrong and he wants his money back. Following the easy route, a dice game will be fine, though, it'll be a long play as I won't go all in. But, its certain he won't loss all his money and I may not hit his target.
2495  Economy / Services / Re: $10 000 for a Hustler who brings us 1000 real paying users on: December 27, 2022, 02:03:08 AM
Regardless of the project's hidden Identity, suggesting signature campaign to Op is a wrong idea. Both to the manager and participants, not only to Op that requires a fast outcome from a single person who could get him 1000 real investors. In a essence, Op is looking for a person that will launch a campaign on behalf of his project and get paid per number of users that patronizes his business. Which he pointed on his thread. Therefore, changing his marketing strategy, because he shared it here, could hurt the forum's reputations and result to some users who participate in such Signature campaign to receive negative Rep, since we can't do our own research of an anonymous project. I think, Op should either look for micro workers or check Facebook groups.
2496  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where do you bet on wwe matches? on: December 27, 2022, 01:29:00 AM
That'll be easy betting, wrestlers like Undertaker won't loss easily to Randy Orton. Games can easily get predicted. Additionally, except some old stories of Undertaker Vs Shawn Michael that seemed quite difficult to predict, gamblers will take advantage of the story line and predict correctly the next winner from the previous matches. Hence, betting on WWE games will profit players more than the Casino. That could be the reason behind its slow growth in the gambling business.
2497  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How come people spend days here? on: December 26, 2022, 08:21:20 AM
Other than what is been said above, which are all correct. I'd say that, considering the different races of people in this forum, I've learnt different writing tones and words than any book can offer. Reading from different authors everyday helps my vocabulary and increases my knowledge of people around the world. Many countries have representatives in this forum; members. People's writing tones differs from country to country, those in the Uk write differently from those in America. So, if you are here to learn, you'll have to spend lots of time just like in school. Instead of wasting it on FB or IG watching pictures that won't add any meaning to your frontal lobe. But the forum helps positive thoughts which develops the brain to make excellent decisions while learning in different ways; world Politics, gambling, tech etc.
2498  Other / Meta / Re: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2023 to the forum on: December 26, 2022, 07:39:31 AM
Despite the fact that "Merry Xmas" is frequently used nowadays, we should remember and use the traditional greeting of "Merry Christmas" as we commemorate the birth of our Savior. Merry Christmas everyone!

Yes you are right that mate as we all know that x-mas is different from Christmas which the original and the reason why we celebrate. But nowadays I don't know why people say X-mas which is it has a different meaning cause we are not referring  X but we are celebrating Christ  . the the birth of Christ symbolize Christmas.
But we can not force other that they will use Xmas instead of  Christmas.

I just looked this up and found no tangible difference between Xmas and Christmas. In the early days of Christianity, the word "X" was used by Christians as a sign to indicate their faith to others. On the other hand "X" in Greek means "Chi" and X is the first letter for the Greek version of Christ "Χριστος". Though its seen as informal or a means of removing the Name of Christ from Christmas, but it doesn't make any much difference. People can as well say "Xtians" in form of Christians.

2499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you intend to tell loved ones about the bear market? on: December 26, 2022, 07:04:50 AM

Also please stop using the word "gospel" when telling people about crypto/bitcoin.

That has been corrected, though I've never used such word to address cryptocurrency to anybody. However, didn't know how it makes some people feel just added it to my thread to better explain the write-up.

What are your contributions to the right answers for people who ask questions like why the market price is so affected during the festive period?

If the price is falling we can say people are cashing out to buy gifts and family needs during festive, and if the price is increasing then we can say, people who got their bonuses are investing their extra money to Bitcoin.  Honestly, these kind of explanation are just assumption, we never know the real reason unless we do a survey to everyone but the thing is the demand and supply often give us hint on what speculative reason we have to say.

You've got a nice response, but the bear market started long before the festive season. It's just a clear fact that cryptocurrency has no specific time to go bullish or bearish, because this was the period the price started moving up in 2020 then skyrocketed in 2021.
2500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What do you intend to tell loved ones about the bear market? on: December 25, 2022, 11:15:58 AM
During the 2021 era bitcoin price flourished and many investors made lots of profits, out of love for our family and friends it’ll be improper not to tell them about crypto. Even when they’re asking so many question and ready to invest into the market to earn like every other person did. Though I could remember, sometimes last year, telling the writer of my project who asked multiple questions about bitcoin not to buy bitcoin at 50k as he may not gain profits yet. Some of us may have inspired their loved ones to invest into bitcoin. What do you have in mind to tell them about the falling price of bitcoin during the Xmas Dinner?

Coin market cap made an article about this and how to explain things in details for them to understand. Beginning with the Terra fall, Three Arrow Capital, Celsius, down to FTX who tried to save the market, but ended up tearing the recovering bitcoin price apart. Don’t forget to add the Russia-Ukraine war as an attribute to the bear market.

What are your contributions to the right answers for people who ask questions like why the market price is so affected during the festive period?

They’ll be lots of questions to be asked by our family members who invested into cryptocurrency last year, how do we get ready for them?
