Strategies in gambling such as martingale is never a good way to go about things. You will lose it all eventually. The mathematics behind gambling is simply against you, and favours the house in every way.
But if you are able to pick good odds that can be bet on... Alright. You might still make a good amount of profit, but nothing is guaranteed. You might lose it all at any given moment.

I have to say that $20k is a lot of money, and you wouldn't be very happy at all if you lost that much money, would you? ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) But the dumbest thing to do is to obviously let it remain there as a pile of useless cash, not earning any interest and letting the government rob you through inflation. Since it is such a high amount of money, I'd have to say you go with the least risky and most profitable option of all - investing in bitcoins. Do not invest in any altcoins, do not invest with your bitcoins, just invest in bitcoins and let it sit there for a few years. I can guarantee you'll make a good profit out of your investment.

Firstly I don't think Satoshi will ever access his coins nor will it be hacked. After all he is the creator of bitcoin and he wants to bring good to the community. He has no vested interest in dumping the coins all at once and crashing the market. If he does sell his bitcoins, he'll sell it one by one. Not a million at once.
I don't think he'll get hacked either. Being the founder of bitcoin will surely mean that he has good security measures? Worst case scenario that 1 million coins are dumped... That's not a big deal either if you look at the leveraging going on inside exchanges.

If you wana take a speculative gamble, cash out the .5 btc you have and dabble with ETH.
Then hope for the best once other exchanges hold volume for ETH then cash out.
That's way too much of a gamble for me. I don't think that's worth it at all as an investment, Ethereum. I'd rather gamble my coins at a bitcoin dice site than to invest in such a shitty altcoin. The price of ETH has reached the top a few weeks ago in my opinion, and even if it's going to go up further, it wouldn't be much. I think you should invest your 1 BTC in bitcoin itself. You can speculate on the long term, for the bitcoin price. Or if you are really desperate for short term profits, you should go with P2P lending, which is pretty profitable, albeit the risk it comes with.

Halving of bitcoin basically means that miners get less bang for their buck, or their mining equipment. That will lead to them holding the coins because it would be entirely unprofitable for them to sell them. And when there are so many speculators on bitcoin's price, it can really go both ways.
But personally I believe that halving is going to be profitable for two reasons: 1. Because the miners are holding the coins, there will be less supply of BTC, and the same level of demand. There will certainly be a surge in the price. 2. Because principally bitcoin is deflationary, and there will always be increases of price.

I don't think that bitcoin can disappear ever as bitcoin is here to survive for a long term and we will see much better and higher bitcoin in future.
lol, some say, that bitcoin will cease in 2030 if that happens, we see the next 10 years, if the price is always down, then it's going
