stop comparing to cointerra. They have done much better at assembling and shipping devices so far

Not according to their own customers:

It's been a week and I can't even get an RMA for my defective [Cointerra] unit.  Angry

I requested a refund a full 20 days ago.. i have not heard anything from [Cointerra] about it... WTF

This new firmware has made the bum January unit even more unstable, now it'll only hash at the high rate briefly before the rates tank and a reboot only gets the normal rates briefly before it tanks again. And of course this is a unit that showed up suspiciously missing the warranty stickers and missing the plug guard and with rubber feet already screwed in-I'm almost 100% sure this unit had problems during testing at cointerra.

Do you actually own CT hardware or are you only presuming to speak for those who do?

the only pre-order equipment i own is a bitfury. Ive been very happy to buy from in-stock bitmain since then. I am quite happy to have not pre-ordered from HF or CT.

and again - cointerra units are in the hands of buyers albeit underperforming.
hashfast units may be in the hands of buyers, but under your MPP plan its obvious that hashfast underdelivered massively by not shipping multiple units as promised
2483  Economy / Auctions / Re: 290 kh/s mining contract! you pick coin and pool! on: March 11, 2014, 03:10:51 PM
Title says everything! auction ends at 6:00 EST!
The contract is a one day contract that starts (depending) from 7:00 PM EST on Monday 3/10/14 to Tuesday 3/11/14 @ 7:00 EST

0.0001 BTC since thats all this is worth
2484  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Heatsink Kits for Antminer S1, Has anyone used these? on: March 11, 2014, 03:03:06 PM
Ive used these sort of heatsinks for my antminer inductor chips to keep them a bit cooler, but the benefit is pretty negligible.

I would advise against sticking one to each chip - you could easily spend 15min trying to do a single antminer and maybe gain a few degrees or 2-5GH
2485  Economy / Goods / Re: *WTS* Selling Casascius 10BTC Silver Round /w Gold B on: March 11, 2014, 02:54:56 PM
14 BTC

^If he wasn't serious, I'll offer either 13.5BTC or 9BTC plus a pair of gold/silver 1BTC coin (value ~2.3BTC each)

Its a very nice coin
i'm gonna have to lol @ that and keep bumpin

Im not holding it against you, just keep in mind that seems to be the highest bid so far and I have the BTC already sitting offline
2486  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: March 11, 2014, 02:47:42 PM
Good day,

I'm living in Australia and I'm wondering can I order  AntMiner S1 here in Sydney Australia?
Preferably I'd like to pay through bank transfer, in Australian dollar or USD rather than paying in bitcoin as I don't have any bitcoin and buying it here in Australia is a bit of hassle
Would like to know if this product available locally or it will be shipped from China,
If I can order it locally how much is the final price, and If its shiped from china how much is the import tax

I really appreciate your help

doesn't australia pay like $0.30/kwh?

bitmain only sells in BTC for good reason
2487  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] 3 x 2013 1-BTC Casascius Coins on: March 11, 2014, 02:37:09 PM
I am happy to provide escrow of 0.5% for this, and have provided escrow in the past to other users.

i would suggest escrow for a larger BTC purchase, no matter who from

Fine by me Smiley

However, as stated, using escrow for this transaction means these will be priced in terms of USD.

escrow has absolutely no bearing on currency type, why would you not price in BTC?
2488  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 28nm ** 1T ** 900W【JingTian miner】 in production !!! on: March 11, 2014, 06:29:23 AM
I've also referred this and similar threads regarding the importation and possession of these Chinese A1 miners to the FBI for potential North American customers for further legal clarification.

Just becareful. We may sue you for defarmation.

so if I understand - a forum member wants to get it clarified whether your product may be stolen physical/intellectual property, and you start throwing around words like libel, defamation, and threaten to sue?

I am walking away from this now - my trust in your product just went down dramatically.

this is too reminiscent of BFL_Josh...

Klondike_bar, I do not agree with you. Asking for a clarification and Calling FBI are totally different issues. You cannot call FBI to involve until you have valid proof, or else you could be sued for defamation.  Both JT Miner and Bitmine seems use the same A1 chip from a Chinese suppliers and as I understand, Bitmine do not have the patent of the chip. And it seems that Bitmine does not deny it. This seems a fact.

I am tracking new generation of 20nm ASIC miners which is available for US miners currently, JT miners is one of them. Even though JT Miner is not in US market yet, they do have real miners running very stably and they has more than 1000 miners order which are waiting in line.  It is a promising supplier which our US consumers should expect. Therefore we should focus on the fact not the rumor or emotional assertion. We do not want a scam and at the same time we do encourage the good 28nm miner suppliers to join to compete so we have more choice, especially the promising miner suppliers.

what on earth are you talking about? You use the word defamation like you know what it means, but I really don't think you actually understand the legal definition. Suggesting the product might be slightly illegitimate for many questionable reasons brought up in this thread is not defamatory. It is very different from something like saying you had a unit in your hands and making false claims about it when that isnt true.
2489  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.999 BTC for 180GH/s on: March 11, 2014, 06:24:13 AM
antminer S1 not include PSU(Power Supply Unit)
To easy choose PSU..

look Current is minimum 30A for 12 V
why minimum 30 A? this is answer:
a antminer S1 need 360W at voltage 12 V
you can check Current minimmum for one antminer S1= 360W/12V = 30 A
check in PSU about current in body PSU.

terrible advice. You need a PSU that can put out at least 450W on the 12V rail or you will have issues. Even PSUs with >500W on 12V sometimes cause issues if there is a voltage drop when at >90% power demand
2490  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.999 BTC for 180GH/s on: March 11, 2014, 06:22:35 AM
Can someone please point me in the right direction for the best thread on how to power this puppy?

Just got the S1 today and also got the following power supply:

EVGA 600B 80PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V/EPS12V Active PFC 600W Power Supply 100-B1-0600-KR
http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-80PLUS-Bronze-Certified-100-B1-0600-KR/dp/B00EON40CS/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1394461405&sr=1-1&keywords=power+supply

1) Am I going to need more than what it comes with?
2) I plan on buying another...could this power both or do i need to power another?
3) Is there a guide for dummies on how to hook up? I only have easy miners like avalons and such....I'm having a hard time understanding other instruction threads and they all give different advice

Thanks

Danny

You will need a paper clip to jumper the psu to turn it on.
No, you cannot power 2 AntminerS1's from a 600W psu.

All I have to do is the jumper? I don't have to cut and splice pci wires and all that?

No, becouse now S1 has two pci-ex

crap...that psu above only has one 6 pin pie...well threre's another tethered to it, but it doesn't reach. I'mm guessing it wouldn't matter because the 2nd one would need it's own, right?

There other connector it has is a cpu molex...two four-in connectors with yellow on the clip side. Can this help me?
Do I simply extend the other tethered six pin

There's another sata cable that has for 4 pin flat molex...i have an adapter that can turn that into a six...should I use that?

Return it and buy a real[/] PSU.  Wink

alternatively, you can snip the head off the 8-pin ATX mobo connector and it will give you moe then enough wire leads to wire to the screw terminals on the unit
2491  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.999 BTC for 180GH/s on: March 11, 2014, 06:20:50 AM
It tends to be an exponential curve so running half the watts usually returns more than half the hashing power as long as there is enough power for the chips to come on. The limiting factor for any home mining farm is the Amps you circuit breaker can carry. Wink

That is true for under-volting, not for under-clocking. Can the S1 be easily under-volted?
I you call soldering around the PCB easy.
that means no -.-

TBH, power isnt the issue, heat is Smiley   I have lots of power but winter is fading and i cant have my windows open all summer
2492  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: March 11, 2014, 06:17:53 AM
Have not OC'd it yet since I could not get it to work in the first place.

EDIT:  SOLVED - Cable issue.

aww you beat me to it - when the cable for the hashing board is loose it simply wont even show a board in the miner.

2496  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales NEW STOCK ***NOW SHIPPING*** on: March 11, 2014, 02:03:16 AM

I wonder how he maintains that farm. Knowing bitfury rigs to be flaky I wonder if he's got some guy whose sole job is to toy around with the best.cnf file or to reboot and/or start/stop miners like a madman.

It was odd to see all of the miners laying on their sides. Maybe that will help the dreaded card wobble due to the fans I have on them.

thats exactly why. more stable. the m-board is not very secure and my bitfury unit tends to be very top heavy, usually tipping to the side that the RPi and ethernet hangs off on. An open rack like that is perfect for a horiontal bitfury to have airflow
2497  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Closed] Bitfury Bare Chips ~2.6 Gh/s - 3 reels on: March 11, 2014, 02:01:30 AM
anyone building h-boards with these?
2498  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] S-HASH 40GHs 16 Bitfury Chip Board GROUP-Production on: March 11, 2014, 02:00:44 AM
the s-hash is not an ideal design to go with right now, 1 ethernet cable and power connection per 40GH adds up FAST.

currently i run 1.44TH using 7 ethernet cables. If I was running s-hash units I would have 35+ ethernet cables.

IMO, you would be far better off producing the H-boards and/or m-boards. Much simpler design with far lower $/GH
2499  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: up to 800GH/s on: March 11, 2014, 01:54:00 AM
there is a lot of saying 'cointerra didnt meet 500GH' while saying 'we can achieve 800GH!'

Cointerr has units in customers hands - lots of units. hashfast has a massive line of customers still waiting on the MPP (which was a protection against late delivery - ohh the irony)

They then go on to flail wildly about having a 2.1TH miner using 3 chips. That means that the miraculous 800GH chips are actually running at about 700GH, or almost 15% under spec. I could shove 20 antminers into a server cabinet and call it a 4TH machine - would that make it a better product then hashfast's pathetic 2TH?

..the answer is yes. I would have those 20 antminers in a cabinet in less than a week from today. Hashfast might ship something in a month or two or three. Obviously my 4TH antminer system is now the greatest bitcoin ASIC of all time by hashfast standards

The wild flailing (and OP) are about HashFast's new world record holding 750+ GH/s ASIC.

The 2.1TH Sierra EVO using only 3 chips is just one possible configuration and it comes in a 4U box, unlike a 4TH antminer (which would take up about 6 times as much space).

If HashFast's spec-smashing 2TH is pathetic, then what are CT's 20% power and performance misses?

so now its 750GH+? You should change the thread title if you are willing to admit 800GH has not been achieved yet

my point about a 4TH antminer is not the size, its that saying your box is fastest is meaningless. Customer reviews sell a product, and right now your customers have less than they were promised and sound pretty angry about it.

again, if 3 chips got 2.1TH instead of 800*3=2.4TH, then you missed your target by 12.5%.   Might be better than CT, but your product has not been tested by a 3rd party, and it is easy to assume that in less ideal situations it may be much closer to 20% off-target.

seriously though, stop comparing to cointerra. They have done much better at assembling and shipping devices so far
2500  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.999 BTC for 180GH/s on: March 11, 2014, 01:47:13 AM
Has anyone tried under-clocking their Antminer?

I'm paying 2BTC for 1GH/W miners right now,

but now these are going under 1BTC, I'm interested in how many GH they can produce with half the Watts?

Has anyone tried this? Can someone run a test at half the mV and tell me the resulting GH?

If it works, at this price, they could compete with 28nm!

Im going to try this on a set of 24 tomorrow. I will report back.

I imagine it might be possible to get close to 1w/GH but at the expense of significant hashrate. You would be able to underclock most other devices for similar efficiency. (for example, you can probably get a bitfury system to 0.5w/GH but would turn a 35Gh card into a 20GH card to do so
