2501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk statement on his Bitcoin holding on: May 02, 2021, 02:40:09 AM
Question:  Whose head would roll at Tesla if Bitcoin were to surge immediately after the bitcoin were sold?

Answer: No one's because no-one at Tesla does anything without Elon Musk's authorisation.  It's his company after-all.

Saying Tesla chose to sell bitcoin is like saying the dog ate the homework which is a poor level of responsibility for Musk to take.
2502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.10.0 on: May 02, 2021, 02:31:01 AM

Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell has been asked about Dogecoin at a news conference ...

https://coinmarketcap.com/alexandria/article/top-u-s-banker-asked-about-doge-what-did-he-say

From the press conference commentator:

Quote
For some cryptocurrencies (especially Bitcoin, which has a fixed supply of 21 million,) this has been interpreted as a positive thing — because these digital assets help serve as a hedge against inflation.

The same probably can’t be said for DOGE, which has an eye-wateringly high supply of 130 billion tokens.

If every person were to own DOGE, then it would be spread out not quite 20 DOGE per person across the entire planet.  These are the kinds of points that need to be drummed into people when they compare Bitcoin's apples to DOGE's oranges.

My three choices to be in the finals to win the US Open, the French Open and Wimbledon are Ashleigh Barty, her recent doubles partner Jennifer Brady and Ashes singles finals opponent Aryna Sabalenka:

First of all, I have to complain to ALL of you.  Grin
In the OP are a few rules!
e.g. that you please post an ARCHIVE LINK of your submitted count...
Sorry for the mistake last time, I hope all is well with this new submissions.

Now it's my turn to say "Oh no, sorry..."  I completely forgot about having to archive my post.  I've posted a screen shot and I'm already up to 2,002 threads I've posted in.  I'll be sure to make amends when I reach 7,777 posts.
2505  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union / League / Super / Sixes Sevens Pro14 / Cups & Tours on: May 01, 2021, 11:45:21 PM
My picks this round are Rabbitohs, Storm, Titans, Panthers, Eels, Knights, Cowboys and Dragons.

If I'd checked the leader board before making the call above, the only one I would have changed would be the Roosters (4th) instead of the Knights (now down to 11th place overall).  I managed to see the first half of the Panthers' game - they played very well and had most of the possession of the ball.  All in all, not a bad choice, the hard part will be in the semis when then leading teams start facing off against one another.
2506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: My crypto portfolio, please give me some feedback on: May 01, 2021, 08:21:12 AM
I'm guessing once you had just bitcoin and a little bit of ether as well.  Then, a year or two ago you splashed out the cash (say $20 at a time) and bought about a dozen alt tokens.  Suddenly two or three have done so-so to okay while the rest have just crept along.

Ask yourself how long you'd like to hang onto the coins for, then come back in about half of that time to re-appraise your portfolio.

I was just getting ready to help rebroadcast the RAW transaction, but I see it's already had twenty confirmations. (At a $40+ TX fee).  Thanks Hhampuz for getting the payment out promptly.
2508  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stay humble and stay safe on: April 30, 2021, 01:28:45 PM
Yeh, I noticed a guy at work was always bragging he'd sunk a LOT of money into bitcoin before it went to $20,000 a couple of years ago then bragged then bemoaned when it started sliding downwards.

As Bitcoin reached $50,000 this year he went eerily silent about owning any Crypto.

Funny that.
2509  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union / League / Super / Sixes Sevens Pro14 / Cups & Tours on: April 30, 2021, 11:57:29 AM
I managed to see the second half of tonight's first game ( Storm 40 - Sharks 14 ) and the first half of the second game ( Broncos 36 - Titans 28 )

The Broncos played a much better game catching up to be 22 - 22 at half time.  I thought the Titans might come back refreshed and blitz the Broncos, but the tide had turned.

So far this round I've picked two of three games, hopefully there won't be anymore upsets tomorrow.
2510  Economy / Services / Re: Free BTC transaction accelerator! on: April 30, 2021, 11:43:48 AM
I never used that wallet, so I can't say if there is any possibility to increase the fee even though the transaction is marked as RBF. I found a link with a possible solution, but it would be best to open a thread in Development & Technical Discussion/Bitcoin Technical Support.

<suspicious link removed>

What a quaint website that is full of pictures of animals roaming about with words superimposed on their torsos and photographs of cakes and stories of people who missed that boat and so on and so forth.

Thanks for trying ... I guess ...
2511  Economy / Services / Re: Free BTC transaction accelerator! on: April 29, 2021, 10:14:33 PM
Never-the-less, if you can accelerate this TX, I would appreciate it.

your fee is simply too low for the transaction to be added to this accelerator - the only logical option is to use the RBF function and increase the fee - all other paid accelerators would cost you much more.

On a Zap wallet?

How?

A milestone of sorts - I have now posted in exactly 2,000 unique threads (it's only taken me a few week shy of eight years to reach that particular milestone).

I'm still many weeks away from 7,777 posts, then a few more weeks away from 8,000 posts.
2513  Economy / Goods / Re: WTB POKEMON CARDS (English, German) - Base Set, Fossil, Jungle - 1st Edition on: April 29, 2021, 12:31:18 PM
OK, main image shows the various piles I've been sorting through.  The second image is a pile of some of what I've got to sort through...  Third and fourth images are some of the pages of cards which I've discovered my Father has inserted three or four cards per insert on every page.

The majority of the cards are © 1999 - I'm going to have to get myself a magnifying glass to look at the various dots, stars, paws etc in various places.  There are very few 10 HP, not one 20 HP AT ALL some 30 HP (above the yellow energy cards), a large number of 40 HP (above the Purple energy), 50 HP.  Slightly less 60 HP (above the green energy cards) (moved down due to the afternoon shadow on the cards when I was trying to take the photos).  Much less 70 HP, less still 80 HP and almost no 90 HP or 100 HP cards.  The trainer cards is the largest pile at top right of image.  Even the energy cards have slight differences in the same colours - and I've only found just two grey energy while the other energy colours have dozens of cards.

Last pic is the box I'm still going through that have other sets - a truck load of Dragon Ball Z, Warlord Saga of the Storm, Magic The Gathering, DIGIMON, Lord of the Rings Trading Card Game, some Coca-Cola Collection,The Simpsons, Harry Potter Trading Card Game (all mixed in together with yet more Pokemon Cards) for some inexplicable reason) not to mention (not photographed, NRL, NFL, Australian Rules, Star Trek and Star Wars trading cards to name a few...

It might be better if you PM me a list of your wants.  I've looked on eBay and the prices are all over the place.

First selections goes to @bullrun2020bro then I'll open it up to other inquiries.  Payment in BTC and Escrow to be negotiated depending on the quantity ordered.  Postage will be from Australia with tracking.

*Note*, I will not do deals on these items on Telegram, Discord, Twitter, Facebook or any other platform.

2515  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union / League / Super / Sixes Sevens Pro14 / Cups & Tours on: April 29, 2021, 11:59:30 AM
Rabbitohs are looking safe enough now 24-32 with 5 minutes to go.

Just to rub it in - a two point field goal in the last 30 seconds of the game.  The Raiders had a try disallowed five minutes earlier, so it was definitely not the finish they were hoping for after their strong start to the match.

2516  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union / League / Super / Sixes Sevens Pro14 / Cups & Tours on: April 29, 2021, 10:57:14 AM
The Rabbitohs are off to a shaky start to round eight of the NRL 2021 season:

(Half time and the Raiders are leading 16 - 14)

My picks this round are Rabbitohs, Storm, Titans, Panthers, Eels, Knights, Cowboys and Dragons.

I have a few bets in for round 8 of the NRL and looking to back the Rabbitohs against
the Raiders on Thursday but Im second guessing it because of the odds,

Raiders 3.0 - 1.45 Rabbitohs - im thinking there should be a wider margin between
both teams given their run of form and league positioning?

IIRC that's better odds than the ones over at nitrogensports.eu where I've been placing my NRL wagers for a few weeks now.

Quote
Heineken Champions Cup Semi Final between La Rochelle and Leinster, I'm waiting
to hear if Leinster's Talisman Johnny Sexton will be match ready or not before placing
a bet. If he isnt playing I would give La Rochelle a better chance.

Hopefully I'll remember to place some wagers and see if they do good.

(I've got bets on the Chiefs over the Blues and the Hurricanes over the Highlanders...)

In off topic news, a Baseball mad fan at work has put me onto The Boston Red Sox and San Francisco Giants teams who are playing every other day and so far winning more than they loose with odds between 1.5:1 and  3.5:1 - I've also put very small bets for the World Series Boston 67:1 and San Francisco 30:1

Plus if you dabble in Tennis, Ash Barty, her recent doubles partner Jennifer Brady as well as Aryna Sabalenka who Ash beat all have 15:1 odds to 35:1 odds for the French Open, US Open and Wimbledon and are my picks to put bets on this season.

You've made a grand total of six posts having started three separate threads and name two and imply there is a third Casino that has ripped you off...

Isn't it time you stepped away from the computer and admit you have a gambling addiction?  The very fact you time and time again register, gamble, win (and who deposits $100 then gambles $10 at a time? - That's just ten rolls all up - you couldn't be that lucky!) then are unable to withdraw your winnings means what?  You're an idiot for not reading the fine lines when registering?

Proof, or, it never happened.

According to blockchair.com your TX is in <15kth position with >65k TX's in the mempool.  As to when it might get into a block - that's the $64k question...
2519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk statement on his Bitcoin holding on: April 29, 2021, 01:08:51 AM
I don't suppose you could post a link to the original tweet?  Most people at the moment have the classic FOMO surrounding bitcoin and crypto in general.  Bitcoin and altcoins to a large extent were created as a means to make electronic transfers / payments securely via a one way system with the block-chain / ledger as proof of that payment.

It's a technicality to say "Tesla" sold the bitcoins after it's owner/creator talked up the price.  It's another thing entirely to hold coins just for the sake of HODLing them as he is doing.  After all, there was a price surge a couple of years ago when ransomware demanded payment in bitcoin prompting companies to go out and buy BTC on spec just in case they were attacked.

I wonder how many & where those coins are now?
2520  Economy / Economics / Re: Are some too blind to see? on: April 29, 2021, 01:00:31 AM
Are you sure there are actually profits in Tesla's bottom line?  Or, is it just that the price of bitcoin has risen and (on paper) the market capitalisation of those coins makes it appear as though Tesla is doing fine?  If I had funds to invest in bricks and mortar stocks, I *might* invest in Tesla, but it wouldn't be the only stock I invest in.
