2501  Other / Meta / Re: [FACTS] NEW Scam Coin Section on: January 25, 2017, 08:13:30 AM
I'd like to see a couple categories based on initial distribution and scheme or non-scheme.

Litecoin does have or need smart-contracts ?
World Coin is not a blogging platform.
Krueger Coin is not a Ledger scheme.
Name Coin is not a market / exchange coin ?
Peer Coin is ... a currency ?

It should be labeled as Currency and ..... other.

Ethereum was not launched and popular and the #2 coin because it was designed to be a currency.
It got where it is because of it's scheme attached to it.
It can NOT be perceived as a currency.. like the countless coins that came before it.
Other wise it would have been ignored. (because we already had far too many as it is)

And i am not talking about how it is now.. i am saying we all should change it !

These Other types are a different type.
Not one of them would have been noticed has they not had some funky snazzy gimmick tacked onto a coin (almost always an ICO)

APP's
Torrents
Blogging
Ledgers
Exchange

People are looking for ways to tack an ICO coin onto a gimmick.
That is not a currency in my books.

Would i consider Dash or Monero a currency ? yes ..an attempt at an improvement.

It is of course a perception matter.
But who's should get priority ?

Would be people really be bothered by "pure" coins separated from schemes ?
If after all that is why they (scheme coins) are launched in the first place then.. there you go
you are standing out of the pack of all the so called pure coins then right ?
Isn't that what they want ?

Problem is the people saying Ethereum will replace Bitcoin are bothered hahahah

I don't get it, why wouldn't people want them broken up a bit ?
It's not like i am saying, hey make a ton of categories.

In case you have not noticed the initial distribution method is tantamount.
ANN topics are usually tagged in the title with [NO ICO] [NO PREMINE]
why ?
Why do they put it right away into the ANN first post ?
BECAUSE PEOPLE DO IN FACT CARE !
Think of it as being the person trying to search for coins.
Wouldn't it be nice to see every premined coin in 1 section then every ICO in 1 section ?
Then the rest (fair mined coins) in the 3rd section.

I don't know how it could look all i know is it's a big hot mess.

What about instead a tagging system with keywords to click on ?
When posting some stuff over at XDA for my Android phone i added tags to my topic such as..
Boot Screen, Boot Logo, Flashable etc

Just trying to offer some perspective on this and some ideas.
I wonder if the user base would vote yes split them up in a poll.

EDIT:

Excuse the higher than normal incoherent rambling all over here.
I am tired and this was a disorganized little "thinking out loud" romp.
2502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: What is a PascalCoin and how is Poloniex scamming you? on: January 25, 2017, 07:30:59 AM
Poloniex knows..

This is why i have never trusted any of these exchanges.
NO TRANSPARENCY !

They technically can do what ever they want.
Question is.. what did they do if anything ?
Only they know and we have to take their word for it  Roll Eyes

Maybe contact them and ask them people.

2504  Other / Meta / Re: Can we boot half of the users out of this forum? on: January 25, 2017, 04:23:39 AM
Check out the stats page.. not sure if avg users per day is accurate.

I also blame Gleb Gamow.. we all know he is here right now with 75 tabs open.  Shocked  Cheesy

And when i got here in 2013 people told me back then he already got a million in donations
..not sure how accurate that is. (heard it on Cryptsy chat a bunch of times)

I usually use 2 or 3 tabs max here.

There is a lot of crawlers on here nowadays though i seen a profile one the other on the WHO list.

But yeah i have seen issues on & off over time too.
I usually chalk it up to a variety of things.. could be a DOS attack or maintenance or maybe a new load for the testing forum ? ..no idea really.
2505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XLTH LITHIUM is a SCAM !!!|"Dev" keeps digging his hole deeper with his replies| on: January 24, 2017, 02:31:18 PM
You've got a point Spoetnik, but we differ in the way we look at the victims of this scam.
Let's put in in this way. Everybody knows that driving a car is risky, but when I see a car accident happening, I act helpfull instead of mumbling "loosers" and drive on.
I also had my share of being scammed in cryptocurrency for the last years and my red flag is already raised when hearing the word ICO alone, but this is not about me or my lost investment (that was only a small amount), but about the bad name cryptocurrency in general already has.
This Lithium project was the last straw that broke the camel for me.
Pretty much all of the info posted here *COULD* have been found if you guys actually checked *BEFORE* spending your BTC's on another ICO scam.

I agree that the red flags were overwhelming, but the identity of Carlos aka crt.ferguson@gmail.com as the scammer, connecting this scam to his history of setting up failed coins and exchanges, could not be found beforehand.

@mvl
could not be found beforehand.. you say ?
Well.... uhh... maybe you guys should find out FIRST WHO the person is you are making a millionaire ?

We don't know who he is.. is a red-flag (not a defense)

THAT IS how to "stop" scams Wink

2508  Other / Off-topic / Re: If you had a time machine, what would you say to satoshi? on: January 24, 2017, 12:23:47 PM
Give me the private keys to your million premined bitcoins or I'll shoot you in the face.
I'm afraid this might actually have happened. Without the time machine of course. This is satoshi's last post on Bitcointalk. Does this look like someone who voluntarily decided to stop posting? Or does this look like someone who had something bad happen to him?

Naw, i think you are reading into it a bit much.

What is funny is Satoshi's last post has only been read 15,662 times  Cheesy

And guys.. HE IS DEAD !

I think the summary from critics on the Craig Wright drama sums it up.
I have heard a few scenarios posted claiming various people are Satoshi.
Such as, http://www.coindesk.com/linguistic-researchers-name-nick-szabo-author-bitcoin-whitepaper/

But i think it was the guy Craig knew here that ended up dying.. Dave Kleiman

Details wise i have no idea..
But if Dave was in part "Satoshi" and he died maybe his private keys went with him etc.
We have so far a viable link to a dead man.. which *maybe explains the mysterious disappearance of Satoshi i think.
Craig may have been involved like he said but he probably has no way to login to Satoshi's account here and probably does not have the private keys to Satoshi's Bitcoins etc.

Let's not forget here people it has been common for dev's to share public face accounts.
For example iGotSpots admitted this with the TIX / Tickets forum account here.
He claimed more than one guy working on the coin had posted here using that exact account.

So i think it is plausible that Satoshi was a forum name here and his account was possibly used by a bunch of people at different times.

I do think Craig Wright is full of shit though.
I sure as hell am not saying he is honest in his claims.
http://gizmodo.com/this-australian-says-he-and-his-dead-friend-invented-bi-1746958692

Dave Kleiman is the guy you need to be looking at i think.
or me Wink
..who knows LOL

Yeah i have been accused of being Satoshi here before  Cheesy
2509  Other / Off-topic / Re: How you deal with depression? on: January 24, 2017, 10:46:58 AM
Often it's the circumstances of life that cause it.
Recognize that you CAN change them.
Do it now !

It doesn't matter how buried or messed up your life is.
I have had mine spiral out of control with serious problems.

I talked to a social worker at the Salvation Army for advice a couple years back...
She looked at me and said she was surprised how relaxed and calm i was about the fact
i was going to be homeless in a couple weeks.

I told her yup.. i am calm.
There is not much i can do.. i tried but the outcome is set in stone.

I went and lived in a bush ..with physical health problems.
Homeless and fucked i was resolute.
This was not the first time i either.. it happened a decade earlier too.

But i was calm and confident because i have learned i have the skills to battle back.
And i did !

Life can kiss my fucking ass.. i win.
I always win or i will die trying.
And if i fail oh well.

What it boils down to i think is effort to change your circumstances.
When i was on the street spending my night alone sleeping in a bush..
I did not resort to doing drugs or crime or associating with shady people.
I kept to myself and kept hitting up resources like community centers and asking people for advice.
I kept using the library internet to search for place to rent etc. ...every day !
I did not give up or let my situation CONTINUE to get worse.

- Be strong (you are stronger than you think when depressed)
- Don't give up.
- Build on shit by doing an endless stream of small steps towards your goals.

Those small steps will reassure your spirit you are moving in a constructive positive direction.
Be patient and fight.

Depression is linked to frustration and anger.. often because of circumstance beyond your control.
Roll with it.. that's life.
If you have a problem that can be treated with drugs then go see a shrink and get something prescribed.
Me ? that would not have helped.
Prozac would not put a roof over my head LOL

I seen a commercial on TV many years ago that showed a women have her life fall apart and she went nuts etc.
She had her finances collapse and a divorce and get her house repo'd etc.
And the commercial was pointing out.. IT COULD BE YOU (who ends up in the loony bin)
In that example it was again.. the circumstances.

Seize the power you have and change your circumstances.
Its your life take control of it.
And who gives a shit what people think too.. fuck 'em they are all idiots.
The only opinion that matters is your own.

Oh and helping others can be therapeutic too.. some people volunteer for example.
Just bear in mind your life is about the positive impact you had.
Ask yourself have you touched the lives of other people in a positive way ?
(that will get you thinking of others and not only yourself)

You will not be remembered for the bullshit in your house or the size of your bank account.
You will be remembered and know deep down because you had a meaningful positive impact on others in life.
If you have no good moments then get on it LOL
Go outside and help an old lady across the street (being outside is therapeutic too)

Even J. Dahmer tried to see Jesus and complied with Police when he got arrested.
He basically said he wanted to come clean and make things right so he refused a lawyer and spilled the beans on everything he ever did.

So even if you are a scumbag you can still make things right ..at least to some extent.
2510  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XLTH LITHIUM is a SCAM !!!|"Dev" keeps digging his hole deeper with his replies| on: January 24, 2017, 10:25:29 AM
I bet all the guys ripped off with this will or already have bought into the next ICO in the list from the ANN section.

*Enough* red-flags ?

You are all not LOOKING for them.. THAT is the point.
You are "looking" for profits.
You are looking for a stable stream of revenue not a legit project.

Problem is there are no laws stopping the scammers so the scene is corrupt and rigged and unfair.

If Poloniex wanted to say hey fuck you we close and we're spending your money.. THEY CAN !
They have every right to do it too.
And you guys can't say shit about it.

..you chanted free market after all.

Anyway good luck people.. you need it.
I don't think i have anything more to say here.
I watch this crap go round and round.. i doubt anything will change soon.

It's a pity because reputable projects DESERVE your valuable support guys.

Hopefully you guys will smarten up and be more cautious in the future.
2511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why the world needs Altcoin Regulations - Blackpaper on: January 24, 2017, 10:10:31 AM
Spoet you are the regulator.

- Insider trading stopped ?  IMPOSSIBLE, US SENATE does it best
- Money laundering stopped ? IMPOSSIBLE, CITY OF LONDON level expert
- Terrorist financing stopped ? IMPOSSIBLE, STATE DEPT/CIA/House of Saud
- Securities fraud stopped ?  IMPOSSIBLE, see NYSE
- Market manipulation stopped ?  IMPOSSIBLE, lol, that's the FEDRES job
- Blatant coin scam and MLM's etc stopped ? We can fix that.  Honestly, that is what this place is about. Reputation
- Thieves like on GOX & Cryptsy and Mintpal stopped ?  We can fix that.  Work on creating a distributed risk, decentralized exchange system, open source.

That made me smile  Grin

It's not so much what i think ..it's what is going to happen or already has.
When i started there was no rules.
I kept warning you it's coming and i rattled off a huge pile of example earlier.
I was right !

This stuff can only fly under the radar so long before governments crack down somehow.
Most recently i have been thinking of a couple key issues.
- Terrorist Funding
- Cartel Money Laundering
- General 1st world regulations (UK, CAN, USA etc)

That terrorist funding / laundering loop hole created in crypto is a gaping hole which is why AML laws were implemented on exchanges.. which also applies to organized crime.. Al Capone ring a bell people ?
So what happens ? Exchanges are taking our picture ID and you all are fine with it.
Because one day you all figure we will be using decentralized exchanges.. well.. when ?
Bitcoin ? 7 or 8 years old now ?
They so far are not able to offer the same level of service a traditional exchange offers which means they are not yet a viable replacement.. sorry but i too wish they were guys  Cry

Taxes ?
Once again like the money laundering shit.. it's too late guys.
How many of you are teens who never filed a tax return in your life ?
This crypto should *could come back to haunt you in an audit or investigation or if someone ratted you out later on down the road.
Me i think my ass is covered to some extent because i quit trading as the law became publicized.
By the time it was time for me to do a tax return the next year and claim my exchange earnings i had already long stopped any activity.
Taxes ? cough cough Al Capone anyone ?

I love your rebellious attitude i really do but i think we all need to be practical and realistic about what is happening and what will happen in the future.
And being anti-tax is silly.. You don't get a choice in the matter.
Want to evade them ? Then enjoy your jail sentence.. end of story.
The tax man is the one mutha fucka' you don't want a piece of on this planet earth  Cheesy

I have wondered why we don't have major regulations flooding us.
Guy earlier hit on the head.

It's the code !
The logistics of having a branch of the govt sit there and sift through all these different coin projects and services is simply too much.. at least right now.

But does that mean they are going to ignore this stuff forever ?
Nope.
Sadly guys it's obvious.
They will simply be heavy handed and hammer down some draconian rules on us.
Which is what i warned you all they would do and why it was imperceptive we strike a deal early by being an input into their creation early before they make decisions for us.
We should have been at their door saying give us regulations that are fair for both sides.
Not waiting for them to hand us what ever they want. (with out our input)

Honestly i don't think the IRS etc care too much about kids making a bit of money on coin schemes.
What they are watching is.. how big will this stuff get ?

I don't think you all fathom how serious money laundering is.
Drug cartels across the globe for example need to launder billions (see Mexicans + HSBC bank)
When there is enough liquidity in crypto they will move in i guarantee it.
Problem is 1 single drug cartel moves more money that the market cap of every coin combined in 1 year.
If they wanted to just the major Mexican one AKA: The Golden Triangle could walk into the crypto scene and buy every single coin on CoinMarketCap at once and have change left over.

The real big whales out there are monumentally large and powerful world players.
And when you ire the wrath of the NSA, CIA, FBI look out guys.

China just banned VPN's.. heavy handed tactics.
In the USA they don't need to.. they simply walk in with a Homeland Security warrant and seize it and leave it running for data collection.
This forum could have been hijacked by the US govt long ago and theymos could have been ordered to not say anything.. it HAS happened lots before on the internet with services.
It is to the benefit of the US agencies to let the rats scurry around.. so you can track them.

Just look at the world of Piracy / File Sharing guys..
It's a cat & mouse game that never ends.
I tried to support P2P for ages and i have seen a zillion incidents go down with the govt's.
A lot of parallels can be drawn between the two.
Such as this crypto stuff is like the early days of P2P.. they just have not had time yet to react with "laws".
I have said they can't stop us lots with P2P.
Maybe not but many of us are doing jail time right now.

Anyway you are already using regulations and supporting them or close your Poloniex, Coinbase accounts etc right now.
You can not claim you are against them then comply with their laws they have in place.
That makes you all a hypocrite.
Cryptsy admitted before to feeding a customer lies and bullshit and handing over their info to the US Fed's.
This is not a conspiracy guys.. it actually happens.
Coinbase handed over the data of a guy running KickAssTorrents.com
This shit is real .. it's not a joke.. the guy is behind bars right NOW !
2512  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to decide on your cryptocoins? on: January 24, 2017, 03:19:06 AM
This gets asked in a similar way getting the same exact replies pretty much daily.

anyway  Roll Eyes

I would say the root of it is what are you after ?
It's funny i am the only one who ever said this from what i recall.
And i have been lecturing you all saying it over & over for ages too.

Boils down to being a profiteer or supporter.

- A profiteer will invest in ANYTHING as long as they get a profit.

- A supporter will be looking for a project that is legit basically.

What that ends up meaning is finding a crypto currency with a vision that you believe in.
Say Maidsafe or Monero, Dash or ETH etc.
They have a different vision.
So do they seem like something you want to support ?

How they work + ideology and morals come into play of course.
For example any coin that is an ICO is out of the question with my beliefs / reasoning.

Showing up here in the crypto scene is a rude awakening.
Right away the first thing thrown in your face is morality issues.
Then you are continually tested.

What you think may change in time.. it's a learning process.
I myself have had to rethink things many times since i started.
For example i think the first coin i *tried to support by defending it here a little was FTC / Feathercoin.
Back then years ago i was not aware of cloning problems and i thought their "community" bullshit was convincing.
And i am glad i dropped that shit.. it's done nothing since years later.

I was naive basically.. i was low hanging crypto-fruit  Cheesy

I would value honesty with a coin and it's related dev's etc more than anything.
I am not worried if they have bad past or made mistakes either.
As long as they are sincere and want to move forward in a constructive way.

Good luck NOOBS ..you are going to need (it hurts losing your crypto-trader-virginity to scammers)
2513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Do Altcoin Dev's Deserve Money ? on: January 24, 2017, 03:04:35 AM
Spoetnik I have the same feeling as you do. But this is wild west with new regulations, people do whatever they want to cheat money. What I don't get is that there are "investors" so stupid to invest into these ICOs.
You cannot imagine a regulatory board functioning to monitor these things and as long as anyone could come up with a new idea and can convince a mass audience people will invest money in it and so is the reason we have seen many scams throughout and people still keep on investing on new ideas and coins ,Alt coin dev really make a huge amount of fortune if they can market their ideas really well as we have seen in the past.

Good comment.. gets ya thinking (off-topic)
I don't think that bodes well for the crypto scene's future.

I am confident some type of regulation will end up being put out eventually by at least a few of the larger major countries.

2515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Poloniex' BANHAMMER is the biggest market manipulation tool that exists!! on: January 23, 2017, 11:56:25 PM
It's an important tool in the scene for sure.
And i have witnessed them taking their moderating to ridiculous levels.

I told one of them they were an asshole and want an apology immediately for your big mouth.
And the dipshit gave it to me on the spot !
Because he knew damn well he was super mega rude and way out of line.
..par for the course around there.

The problem is they want to exert levels of control that i would deem unreasonable.

The biggest problem with Poloniex is easily the chat mod's.
I have seen it my self endlessly.
Most of it is logged on www.polonibox.com so there is no room to deny fuck all.

I'd say they have had the worse Troll-Box mod's in crypto since i started.
With maybe McxNOW coming in close with Cryptsy in the later days.

It's about coin chat so let people talk !

I am pointing how they cry to the mods to get rid of the topic etc.. then i laugh at them because they are fucking idiots.

It should be obvious after being here for even a small amount of time.
It also should be obvious that the mod's etc here can't really do anything UNLESS they Police contact theymos about it.

And are you guys actually going to pull the we want a lawless free market routine then cry for the cops AGAIN ?

The silly ass hypocrisy in crypto is bloody mind blowing.

Bottom Line:
ICO = SCAM

Why the hell do you all think i keep bitching about them and have never been involved with one or owned any ICO "tokens" ?
