25021  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon pursuing 7nm technology on: May 25, 2017, 10:19:22 PM
I'd bet late 2019 at the EARLIEST - even AMD isn't talking 2018 for 7nm and they are one of the 2 PRIMARY customers for GF.

 More likely 2020.

Can't build miners on a node that is still in the "experimental testing" stage.

I was thinking Dec 2018 at best but if it takes till 2019 or early 2020 I would not be surprised.
25022  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon pursuing 7nm technology on: May 25, 2017, 05:30:34 PM
Maybe late 2018 for release.

No need for better gear with coins at 2600.

There is always a need for better gear, it means there is more money to be made by making better miners with higher speeds and efficiencies.
For a short amount of time anyway, until everyone has the new miners, then it will be a wash.

Same old, same old

No one is releasing 7nm   0.05 watt gear this year for sha 256.

You are correct that new will be released the ASIC L3+

The better x-11 ASIC

The vega gpu .

All going to get out this year.

At the Moment the s-9 is plenty much doing great at making money.

If 7nm comes out based on this announcement by Avalon it will be more then a year from now.
25023  Economy / Speculation / Re: We're reaching $3,000 soon! on: May 25, 2017, 05:01:17 PM
At this pace BTC will hit $5,000 until the end of the year! Every BTC holder must know this: you will own a fortune in a few years!

Is $10,000 reachable? I guess it's clear that it is!  (2-3 years)

Is $25,000 reachable? Why not!   (5-10 years)

Is $50,000 reachable? Harder but not impossible!  (>10 years)

you Jinx us will you stop please.  It was over 2800 now it is under 2600
25024  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon pursuing 7nm technology on: May 25, 2017, 02:13:53 PM
Maybe late 2018 for release.

No need for better gear with coins at 2600.

jonnybravo0311 50: -0 / +5 2015-05-18 2.50000000 Reference Phil has organized and run multiple "ck solo pool club" campaigns in which a group of us all pool funds and rent hashing power to point at Con's solo pool. So far I have been involved in 3 of these and Phil has been very open and transparent about where the coins are, how the orders are structured, etc. He has taken votes from the group members to ask about changes to existing orders. He has even chipped in his own coin to have an extra bit of hash rate for the group members.

The Phil contest is back!!  Aw hell yeah!

Looking forward to it, Phil.  Cool

Have to find an older thread with the rules Grin

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1484047.msg14964950#msg14964950

I am checking this list of rules from older thread

1)you must have been on this site since April 1st 2016  you must have at least 30 posts. --    Make it from Feb 1 2017
2)I will check you out if you are new and decide if you can play.
3)you get one play per adjustment. which must be yours alone, in proper format and can not be changed.
4)Do not pick someone else's number If you do I will assign a number and that will not be changed
5) picks start at:

Bitcoin Difficulty:
Estimated Next Difficulty:

Adjust time:                 Block    1116

Hashrate(?):
Block Generation Time(?):
1 block:
3 blocks:
6 blocks:
Updated:

6) picks end at

Bitcoin Difficulty:
Estimated Next Difficulty:

Adjust time:      516

Hashrate(?):
Block Generation Time(?):
1 block:
3 blocks:
6 blocks:
Updated:

7)  since this is a free contest I make all decisions if there are any issues or problems.

8 ) note the change  picks start later and end late in the hope of helping a person to pick a winner.

9) format is below and this is the  contest picks from 2016 in code

I tried everything, I undervolt for -50mV, -30mV, -10mV, 0mV. I tried GPU clock from 1100MHz to 1170MHz, memory clock from 2000MHz to 2150MHz. I lower powertune -5%.

What setup you use? PSU is gold rated but there is possibility that it makes a problem.

pull 1 card

-50mv

gpu clock

1050

memory

1950

see if it runs nonstop  with the five cards and the settings above.

if it does run well  for 30 hours

keep the lower settings  and add the sixth card  if it crashes your psu is too weak.

go back to five cards

Coins got over 2500

sold .4 for 999 after fees.

Still wondering  how high before a crash?

Sold at:

2500
1900
1650
1500

I could have been more patient.

 Still  lots of profit taken.

25031  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Help me! fan temp too high! on: May 25, 2017, 03:12:31 AM
you could have lower volts  I see .9875

how do you clock your cards?

I think they could be at .9500

that would drop watts to 79-80

I purchased this to run my 6x 580 8 pin cards.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008Q7HUR0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

One question has anyone used this and it came with all the pcie cables ( 6 - 8 pin)?

Can anyone recommend a good 12-24 inch extender 8 to 8 pin cable?

sure but pcie or cpu  as both have 8 pins

pcie 8 to 8

cpu 8 to 8

lastly pcie 6 to 6

25033  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Everything I want is sold out everywhere! on: May 25, 2017, 01:18:34 AM
Funny how back in 2013 there was a GPU shortage preventing difficulty from going higher.

Now the GPU manufacteurs learnt their lesson and over-supplied the market but the motherboard manufacteurs didn't and hashrate is capping because motherboards are sold out.

plenty of good motherboards  if you don't mind 4 card or 5 card rigs.
25034  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Where to find 220v PSU cables in the U.S.? on: May 24, 2017, 10:15:20 PM
Wow, thanks for that information. Will definitely be looking into this.

Any particular reason why those rigs would catch fire in the first place? Do PSUs tend to pull more wattage than they need? Is that just because of a surge?

Speaking of surge, does the PDU do surge protection too? Do I need to do something separate for that?

okay a pdu like this is good

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-AP6031-200-240V-24A-4-Outlet-PDU-Power-Distribution-Unit-5T439-/282482812015?

plug in 2 of these one on the left side of the pdu above and one on the right side of the pdu above.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/252640-001-HP-8x-5-15R-Outlets-PDU-w-C20-Plug-Ears-for-661486-B21-661488-B21-/282343808405?

you could run three 800 watt pc's on each one   total of 4800 watts.  actually more.

the pdu will do 24 x 240 = 5760 watts safely

each extension can handle 12 x 240 or 2880 watts

so  30 amp 240 wall out let is needed

A)   30 amp 240 outlet
B)    pdu max of 24 amps 24/7
C)  2 extension bars 12 amps each.
D) lots of psu's plugged in

you need an electrician to wire the 240 watt outlet

I am 90% sure this is the outlet you need

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pass-Seymour-locking-receptacle-L6-30R-MADE-IN-U-S-A-30-amp-250V-twist-lock-/390917364485?

I noticed the outlets that you linked at only 120v. Should I get one that's 240v?

if you are not a troll and your question is sincere you new to find someone to help you in person as I was unable to get you to understand this.

if you follow my directions exactly  all those receptalces  would be providing 240 volts not 120 volts.

you would need to plug in only 240 volt items.

and it sounds like you do not understand this.

So I should say clearly this would be a 240 volt only system.
these extension bars handle 240 volts it is mechanically sound.  but it is not code.

Ie if you plug in 120 volt items they will break since they are getting 240 volts.

if you want code
get two of these

and 6 of these

Hey guys I have a review video up on my pandaminer b3 plus I'm posting because I have a question I go over in the video . .

https://youtu.be/lOh6hgTRYBY

my pandaminer issue is it's only hashing at 215 mh/s

your powering method is not safe.

pyle voltage converter = danger.

sounds as loud as my panda b1 .

once you get better psu  you may get better results.

consider using  smOS to run it.

I used smos running mine for 3 months and I liked it.

Can you explain how it's a danger? I agree it's not a good long-term solution but would running it for say a month 24/7 be a hazard? Thanks for the feedback Phil

That is a low quality transformer and a low quality Psu

A rosewill 1500 watt titanium Psu the tokamak is a much better choice it will use 120-240 volts.

Runs three hundred on eBay direct from rosewill

GTX 1060 3Gb around 300 sol/s
Thats much higher than i heard i think this is the speed of the 6g

I have 1 give me a minute.

this is the one I have

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814137033&cm_re=msi_1060-_-14-137-033-_-Product

It is mining skein let me switch it to zec and ebwf

299-301 sols  nicehash

2.60 sols per watt

afterburner settings below

74% power setting
+200 core
+   0 memory
70% fan

If you want more info for testing send me a pm
I am usa based.

Philip, thx so much , but i have only one question does the brand differ in hashrate? i don't have any experience with nVidia so i don't know , your card is msi gamingx , i will get the galax brand is it the same speed?

I can't tell you that.  Testing it is the only way.

there is variance in sols per watt and in max  sols.

I only had 2 1060's

as I have density issues in the garage for the summer and in the solar array.

both were from msi  one was a 3gb and one was a 6gb  gamer

the 3gb was a good deal 193 - 20 dollar rebate = 173   I grabbed it and figured i would test it...  it is now over 208.

If I had room I would consider building a few rigs at the lower price.
25039  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: May 24, 2017, 01:43:50 PM
....

it should have a power on setting in bios  which simply fires up the mobo when the psu turns on.

I have all my GPU rigs in my 2nd farm with server PSU and pico supplied by yslyung.
During setup of rig mobo, just enable powerstate to ON after power down.
There is also a on/off switch on the breakout board itself.
This 2400w would be a really nice PSU because you can have more GPUs and also dual mine without having to worry about stressing the PSU
The PSU I use is 1200w 94% Platinums and run ETH only at 1050w and ZEC just under 1000w -- 6 x RX470 OC 1169/1900/powerstage 0 on smOS
[/quote]

yslyung  sent me

wires
pico
breakout board

all good kit.

I am using it to power an r4  as my real life world is a bit messy

but I will be running a second setup soon and use his gear to run it with a thread.

I've tried the following - individually and manually.

garbage info windows sucks.

go to this link download and install

http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/amd-radeon-software-crimson-16-11-5-driver-download.html

this should work.

Don't do this below yet as I do not think you mentioned you have a modified bios

You need install patch
https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-AMD-ATI-Pixel-Clock-Patcher
It's because of modified bios.
