2521  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Protesters in Nigeria used Bitcoin as alternative of banks as CBN blocked accts. on: October 14, 2020, 05:04:02 AM
It would be nice to know what will be the founds used for... The main problem there is corruption, and more money will not fix their problems. They need to fix their government first to stop having all those problems then they need some ethic firs, it can't be fixed with money,
The protest going on for days now isn't just against police brutality, the youths are fed up of bad governance, corrupt politicians and unemployment. They came out in numbers to protest. You can feel the bravery in their unionism against the cancerous system of government. It is as result of this peaceful protest we have realised the government can actually listen to what we need and demand for.

2523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Protesters in Nigeria used Bitcoin as alternative of banks as CBN blocked accts. on: October 13, 2020, 04:28:12 PM
There has been protest against poor policing in Nigeria for over a week now across different cities, earlier today the CBN sanctioned the bank account used by the protesters to solicit for funds across the country. Immediately they noticed this development, the opted for Bitcoin payments system.
A big plus for the organisation.

I was about to make a thread about this. Came across the #freeFlutterwave on twitter trend list and decided to check it out.

For those who don't know, Here's a breakdown of what happened:

- Nigerian youths have been protesting for over a week over policing brutality currently happening across the country with several people getting killed on daily basis just because they're been tagged as criminals by law enforcement officers. The funny thing is every Nigerian youth that is living above the average standard of living is tagged as a criminal - web developers, crypto and forex traders, designers, small - medium scale business owners, entrepreneurs etc.

- Since the situation worsened with each passing day, Nigerians have embarked on peaceful protests across the country and was using a payment platform called Flutterwave (Even binance use this platform for crypto payments on their exchange) for funding the protests with food, medical supplies  and also for bailing our protesters that were arrested during the protests.

So.... what happened?

The central bank of Nigeria flagged the the platform saying it was used to fund "criminal" activities. So Nigerians turned to using Bitcoin as the payment solution abandoning all other traditional payment solutions.

This might not seem much for the global crypto community, but it's a huge win for the Nigerian crypto community on and off this forum. The citizens of Nigeria are beginning to realize that the crypto is the future and would help drive its adoption.

2524  Economy / Economics / Re: Where the top world Elite Rich guys invest on: October 13, 2020, 08:53:38 AM
The elite dynasties invest in creating corrupt politicians. This allows them to control countries, and steal their assets. They recruit young prospects through scholarships like the Rhodes scholarships, and The Schwarzman scholars.

Going through all the quotes to the OP this is the one that caught my attention. You have just said the whole truth about elites and their corrupt ways of manipulating the puppet leaders and brainwashing the masses with scholarship and bribes.
2525  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Investigate, assess news. Don't simply read and make wrong decisions on: October 13, 2020, 05:53:37 AM
The problem is almost nobody is going to analyze what they read, much less corroborate it with other news sources. People like us are a small minority. Most people have a favorite outlet or newspaper they like to read and they believe (almost) everything in it. That's how publishing moguls have so much power because they can order people to write a story they want people to believe, and some people are too stubborn to critically assess what they read because the conclusion is something they don't like and don't want to hear. That's how fake news peddlers gain so much influence, apparently there's a whole class of people who wants to hear that the earth is flat, nobody landed on the moon, etc.

To most people, news is just opinions, not facts.

It happens to every race of people; some are adamant with a particular news media. Some would never believe  different news medias from the one he/she likes can broadcast a news with facts. It is just too human and it is high time we corrected such things using blockchain and developing technologies.

2528  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What actually makes a token pump? on: September 23, 2020, 09:52:06 AM
Besides Bitcoin(BTC), fundamentals doesn't really matter that much in the cryptocurrency space. Basically, which projects pump in price completely depends on how much effort and money they throw at marketing their coin. 🤷‍♂️

..and this is assuming that certain projects actually has a good use-case and are actually legitimate. Which, most projects really don't have both.

Using this ideology in the case of DIA, what do you think is the problem with the downturn price in the market and they have partnership trooping in almost every week.
2529  Economy / Trading Discussion / What actually makes a token pump? on: September 23, 2020, 08:28:17 AM
I'm starting with DIA. It is listed on top exchanges, has good partnership, the team isn't relenting and its price still drops drastically. So, I put up the question to learn with the trend on what actually thrives the price of a token/coin?
2530  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockchain.com Accounts Hacked in july on: September 22, 2020, 12:01:23 PM
Don't personally have any asset stored on blockchain.com, isn't the site safe from hacks and malwares? Have they not made an official statement regards where those funds might have gone to? I'm suspecting the exchange is part of the people who defrauded the victims. I might be wrong though.
2531  Economy / Economics / Re: money is root of evil on: September 14, 2020, 08:50:01 PM
How can those vouchers be generated? Money isn't the root of evil, it is the love of money that is. Imagine a society where there is no competition, no reward for labour and how can they be fair judgement when it comes to choice, want and needs?

2533  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Money stolen from blockchain.com on: August 27, 2020, 05:49:00 PM
Hello,

On 22 of Luly i send £1.800 in Bitcoin to Blockchain.com. Did not touch it or check for about 3 weeks and when 12 of August I login to my account I noticed that on 9 of August my money was send to another wallets in 2 transactions. Did not get any confirmation on email that someone tried to enter my account. I wrote 2 emails to their support without any respond. Don"t know what to do now, can anyone help?

/Apologies if I wrote that topic in wrong place. I am new here.

@embolden, you made a huge mistake by checking if your transaction was successful or not. I'm suprised Blockchain didn't send you any email regarding the whole transactions. Or you did send the said Bitcoin to a wrong address and you're assuming you actually sent them to yours? Even at  that you said It was transferred out on 09/09/2020. As others have suggested if it is not a glitch then, there is nothing anyone can do than comforting you.
2534  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: InBrief: Mobile App for Crypto News, Handpicked and Summarized to 60 Words. on: August 27, 2020, 04:24:32 PM
The app works great, I downloaded it on Android. It was flawless highlighted most of the daily newa which I'm pleased with. I'm not a good developer yet, using it I didn't encounter any glitch, so I wouldn't rate you below 3/5. Great job op.
2535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: █▀▄ [ANN][DeFi] DIA | Data infrastructure for DeFi | Kucoin/Bitmax/Okex ▄▀█ on: August 27, 2020, 04:12:02 PM
Everyone keeps speculating what the hunter would do with their rewards when they receive them, the allocation is very small even if they distribute the 100k tokens for the hunters in just one day DIA won't see a massive dump as it is listed on big exchanges. It is even programmed to be distributed in 3 different phases which makes it even more perfect for hunters and the team.

What we are to discuss about currently is technical support; DIA team needs to focus on, more partnership we are witnessing and over all how to grow bigger and achieve the proposed roadmap. Bounty hunters and their rewards has a small or no effect on the price currently.

2538  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: August 27, 2020, 11:07:32 AM
In my opinion, Messi will not go anywhere. He was dissatisfied with the leadership of Barcelona. And probably he understood or someone told him that his alleged departure could cause dissatisfaction among the fans. And under pressure, the current leadership will resign. And then new elections, the new president, who owes Messi and, accordingly, a new contract.

Nothing is 100% certain in life except death who would have thought Ronaldo would leave Real Madrid for Juventus? He told them when he was ready to leave, he needed new challenge, environment, new friends, new location. They allowed him leave. Same thing with Messi if he eventually wants to leave and the  the buying team meets all the criteria set by Barcelona. They will definitely allow him go. I'm not seeing that happening anytime soon. Even if Messi would leave Barcelona it wouldn't be for a team that he will one day play against Barcelona maybe his childhood football team in Argentina or somewhere away from Europe.
2539  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Accepting Bitcoin for sales in a volatile market. on: August 27, 2020, 10:57:16 AM
Things worthy of note.

• Your customers
• Their Ability to adapt to volatility of Bitcoin price.
• Their Age grade
• The places they live in ( Would they be able to buy Bitcoin whenever they need your services?)
• Their security in your market place

Once these things are guaranteed, transacting with you upon launch of your sales website wouldn't be a herculean task to them. I would also suggest you add an automated BTC/USD conversions to enable them understand what and how much in fiat they are paying.
2540  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain is very faithful on: August 27, 2020, 10:46:20 AM
I also see Blockchain from the past until now it is still very good to use and there are still projects that use Blockchain for now but it doesn't look as much as before, the current project only follows the current method using Defi, in my Opinion not sure that the project that joined Defi will be better than Blockchain. I believe projects that use Blockchain will be better in the future than others.

You seem to get something wrong with the whole Defi ecosystem; Defi isn't existing on its own. It is an evolutionary name for most blockchain tokens, as the blockchain network grows more names would be associated with the development, that's what Defi in this stage represents. It is not as if Defi just came to existence and Blockchain is fading gradually. In fact it is just like a topic in a subject (Blockchain).
