bitcoin is the future of gold
if Bitcoin ever reaches a mainstream reputation similar to gold regarding its usefulness as a store of value, we can probably expect price increases at the cost of the gold price.

It's difficult to know whether your Bitcoins are truly secure or not, regardless of how many precautions you take. Maybe it's just me, but I'm always checking my balance to see if someone managed to steal my coins.

Eventually everyone who is interested in trading bitcoins will trade bitcoins and we will see a stabilization of price, with regular market fluctuations. Anybody hazard a guess what sort of value that will be? tens? Hundreds? Thousands? BILLIONS?
Bitcoins: if the price hasn't changed by more than 15% in the past 60 minutes, it's stable no kidding. From a market that swings 50 dollars easy, anything seems stable

I think the long term success of bitcoin might just well depend on how mainstream it finally ends up getting. The better the users and use of the currency the better chances of it's success and acceptance

Nobody is making decisions based on the talking heads there. They literally have segments where people just shout at one another trying to drive retail investors into random stocks

I ended up sending them to MtGox... about 2 weeks before that all fell over. Guess that was probably my fault too

A very common objection to anarchism is that people are inherently immoral, or stupid, and couldn't be trusted to govern themselves.

I'll never understand folks who think being gay is wrong yet stabbing someone to death is okay. If you don't like gay people, just leave them the hell alone and mind your business.

Bitcoin has been traded for roughly 5 years. Each year it has significantly increased it's value. Will it continue? I don't know. But in terms of potential, it has to have much more potential than gold does.

There are many reasons to like the idea of a future where Bitcoins are a viable currency. Especially as the mainstream media and new communities become more interested in Bitcoin, the first pitch should focus on these political, social, economic, and technological advantages.

official currency only have extrinsic value because that is what we agree they are worth. If we agree they are worth nothing then they have no use

They will never learn. 90% of them will end up with less coins than they would have if they hold. Can't feel sorry for them. It happened so many times before so it's not like they couldn't have learned from it.

No need to be smart to figure out that Bitcoin infrastructure is going to grow exponentially. There are so many services that are being built right now that will give more value Bitcoin and more confidence to it's users.

a bot that was a small percentage of MtGox's volume, could really single-handedly incite an entire bubble when there were at least 2 or 3 other similarly sized exchanges?

Nothing against the idea at all. But to take the country flag is a bit much. they took down one flag for symbolising a group.. but they can put up another? i don't get it

Some people hate on wrestling, I'm not a fan myself but the strain these guys put on their bodies is incredible. I always think back to that movie The Wrestler with Mickey Rourke. It seems to give an accurate portrayal of the industry and the toll wrestling takes on the body and mind. RIP Roddy.

If you see what happened to the Bitcoin economy since the first time the exchange price hit $1000 and what possibly is at the horizon, I think it is pretty much inevitable

It's getting expensive to buy more now...
In 3-4 years you will say buying at actual price was cheap!! Just accumulate each month a bit.Instaed of smoking or drinking in bars for instance use that cash to buy fractions of Bitcoin. Each bit counts! I always advise, invest what you know you won't need any time soon, for instance a year or more. Then hold, wait, and ignore the market fluctuations. You will gain either way.
