2521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think of Breakoutcoin? on: June 11, 2016, 12:47:03 PM
Honestly whenever I heard an altcoin that is followed by "coin", I just have this feel about it being cheap, and just yet another pump and dump scheme. Maybe it's awesome, I haven't looked at it, but that's what im saying.
At least with Ethereum they thought about some cool name and not "whatever+coin". The only cool name with coin on it is Bitcoin, period.
2522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's Novelty Is Spent on: June 11, 2016, 12:44:00 PM
Bitcoin has changed a lot, it's pretty much unrecognizable if you compare it to the early versions, we pretty much only have in common the name and the basic consensus algorithm and 21 million BTC, because if that changes then it isn't bitcoin anymore.
The improvements have been massive and when we have sidechains it will be some next level shit.
Mainstream media is clueless about BTC to be honest.
2523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Seriously] How can I explain Bitcoin to a grandma or grandpa? on: June 11, 2016, 12:18:34 PM
Sorry man, there's just no possible way. The concept is too radical. I have a hard time explaining my friends what is Bitcoin, they just can't wrap their heads around a system where no one is in charge of the monetary supply. My grandpas would never understand what the internet is, let alone Bitcoin. That's for the next generation man.
2524  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 291.2409 BTC for a 0.0001 BTC transaction . on: June 11, 2016, 12:13:15 PM
This is the first time I saw an error in the blocks. Just wow! What the hell happened? Lol.
This is not any error.... as long as I understand, this is just yet another case of some guy making a big mistake when trying to make a transaction, the mistake being that you send a ridiculously high fee. I don't understand how ended up paying 291 tho, the comma is way off.
2525  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If you were rich, would you still gamble? on: June 10, 2016, 05:15:56 PM
Well you just can't compare someone like Floyd Mayweather to some other guy that might be rich, but not that rich.

Someone with 3 million dollars is rich, buy Floyd has like 625 millions.. he is so rich that he will go from betting on basketball matches to starting his own basketball team soon.
2526  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: what fun in GAMBLING? on: June 10, 2016, 05:13:28 PM
the fun in gambling is losing money...Sad but if you win thats better:)

There are no fun in losing money, what's fun in gambling are the challenges, thrill and excitement that it gives to the gambler every time we bet a big amount of money and trying to double that amount and not lose, as gambling are actually made for the purpose of entertainment.

But the best thing for that is to actually win the game and bring home a bigger amount compared to what you had staked or bet.

I think what he meant to say is that the fun of gambling is the adrenaline and excitement that the possibility of losing money brings. If there are no possibilities to lose money, its not real gambling, and there 's no thrill to be had.

I think OP has a very broken and limited English but that's what he meant if he knew how to properly assemble a sentence.
2527  Economy / Economics / Re: Why You Should Never Sell Your Bitcoins Ever on: June 10, 2016, 05:08:25 PM
Everyone that I know who bought Bitcoin and then sold, has ended up regretting selling their bitcoins. Of course, unless you where unlucky enough to buy at the last peak, but even those people that bought at 1200 dollars will eventually regret selling in a year or two.
2528  Economy / Economics / Re: A Resource Based Economy on: June 10, 2016, 04:56:53 PM
The idea of the resource based economy would only function in a society of super intelligent and sensitive human beings with no egos. Unfortunately, most people seem to have big egos and don't care about a common good. Im not sure yet if this is a social construct which is supported and empowered by capitalism itself or it is in fact how humans behave in general by default.
2529  Economy / Economics / Re: What is your best investment strategy? on: June 10, 2016, 04:49:29 PM
Diversifying is the name of the game, you must never have all of your eggs in the same basket. So you must find some other projects that are worth investing some BTC at, then sell for a profit at the right time. Easier said than done, but it can be done.
2530  Economy / Economics / Re: What Country Has Most Of The Bitcoins? on: June 10, 2016, 04:31:43 PM
it's impossible to establish demographic holdings of Bitcoins, too many ways to get them and they get unreported so there's just no way to draw any statistics.

One would assume China is a top holder, but FBI must have a good chunk too from the raids on Silk Road type of shit.
2531  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bank or Bitcoin Wallet? on: June 10, 2016, 04:24:59 PM
You are not going to get rid of the necessity of having a bank anytime soon. As long as dollar is the most accepted currency, having a bank account is a necessity.

This does not mean that Bitcoin will not stop growing nonstop, and at some point in the future it may take a big chunk off the dollar, driving price to 1million or more.
2532  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to do with 1,5 BTC? on: June 10, 2016, 04:18:31 PM
1.5 BTC is not a lot of money, it would imply that you have not bee in in the Bitcoin ecosystem for long. This means you must stay away from investing in alts, let alone gambling and anything like that. You must study how alt market works for a couple months then start making moves. Thats the only way to raise your BTC stack.
2533  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: what fun in GAMBLING? on: June 09, 2016, 04:08:58 PM
The point of gambling is to feel adrenaline. You feel a lot of intensity in a football game if you bet a decent amount for your favorite team, as compared to simply rooting for it. If you put money, everything is more exciting, since your fav team wins, and you win money too, but if they lose, you'll lose your money.
2534  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If you were rich, would you still gamble? on: June 09, 2016, 03:53:36 PM
Rich people gamble a lot, look at this recent Mayweather Instagram pic:

"In Game 6, #OKC was the favorite to beat the #Warriors... but I bet Splash for the Cash. I bet money line for $170,000 and won $221,000."

This was 221k won in a matter of minutes... rich people gamble so the games feel more exciting. Im sure he loses a lot too, but if you bet big, you can win big.
That's a lot of money man, how I wish I am able to bet on that amount. If I would have that money and won then definitely I would already quit in gambling at my current status but I really don't know if I am rich if I can still quit as gambling is really addicting.

If you are as rich as Floyd Mayweather... it doesn't really matter if you gamble or not, it's just really hard to go bankrupt. He is a worldwide start and he gets millions of dollars yearly from his brand (the money team) in terms of sales of merchandising like shoes, hats, clothes.. all kind of stuff with his brand. Only this guarantees him at least 10 million a year, and this is nothing compared to other advertisement services he does.

He basically doesn't need to fight ever again and he will keep making millions.
2535  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: AES-256 Encryption Possibly Now Broken After New Method To Speedily Factor Integ on: June 09, 2016, 03:50:43 PM
I would like to hear what a core dev like gmaxwell that posts here has to say about this, since wallets are encrypted with AES256.
If this was real, im sure they would have made a thread already telling everyone to stay cautious and they would be about to deploy a quick update-fix with a changed algo for the wallet encryption.

Nothing of this is happening so I call bullshit.
2536  Other / Off-topic / Re: telegram and telebit on: June 09, 2016, 03:40:33 PM
The idea of bitcoin bots for such programs is interesting, but unfortunately, it never takes off until the leading platform accepts it natively. Hopefully, whatsapp will accept Bitcoin natively in the future, I think it will eventually happen once its more mainstream.
2537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Canadian university buckles and pays $20k in bitcoin to hackers on: June 09, 2016, 03:38:45 PM
If you are so smart to call yourself an university teacher, one should expect that they know the importance to hire good people in the IT section that are knowledgeable on Bitcoin, ransomware, and security in general.

Honestly ramsonware only happens if you are doing idiotic stuff with the computer. If you are cautious and take basic security measures you will not get infected by ramsonware.
2538  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin be replaced by another cryptocurrency? on: June 09, 2016, 03:35:05 PM
There's no real competition against Bitcoin. Whoever is selling you Bitcoin tier of protection with massive onchain transactions is selling you a lie.
Bitcoin will scale to be a worldwide used currency thanks to secondary layer solutions and it will continue being #1. Don't fall for the lies ant altcoin saviors, they all want your BTC.
2539  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Euro 2016 on: June 09, 2016, 03:32:55 PM
I also don't understand how the hell did Spain lose against Georgia. I saw a recap and they had a decent amount of opportunities, but they never converted in goals, it looked like bad luck to me to be honest. I still say they can be on the top4, and better to wake up in the early matches and realize anyone can win you if you not play your best.

Spain's group is hard. Croatia and Czech Republic are already in very good shape and Turkey have full of surprises. It's a challenging group no matter which team advance. I think it'll be Spain and Croatia but any team can qualify, that won't be surprising.

But they can't be failing against them... if that's hard, then what is france, england etc?

I also think they will recover tho, no way they will get eliminated this quick, they will be at least quarter finals again.
