2521  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Strange Block Erupter Problem on: September 26, 2014, 09:33:02 PM
Hmm, I kind find the specifications for that anywhere. Does the side of the box say the number of amps and volts that it can support?
2522  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Strange Block Erupter Problem on: September 26, 2014, 08:51:55 PM
Can you link to amazon which hub you are using?  The problem is probably not with the power cord but with the hub.  Unfortunately I do not know which hub the "TreeFrog" is, but if you link it I can tell you more about it.

You are probably trying to pull too many amps and/or volts through your hub.  I had the same problem when I first got my block eruptors and had 5 of them on a crappy little USB hub (Did not know about the power requirements and figured they would run anywhere).  They ran fine for a few days, then started having the same problems your describing, basically I melted some of the interior components of the USB hub by pulling too much power through them.

That would be my guess and would explain why when you reduce the number of units (less power being pulled) they all work again.  I would go out and find a 10 port Rosewill hub (they are like $10 now on amazon) and that should work fine to run 9 units no problem.

2524  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK] SCRYPT 4 GH/s hosted scrypt mining project by CRYPTX on: September 26, 2014, 07:05:38 PM
So is this 5GH/s miner legit?  Because wouldn't we be able to purchase about 50 GH/s with the current investment fund and their bulk discount?
http://rhinoceroslabs.com/index.php/solutions/scrypt-asic-miner-rl4

I have never heard of Rhinoceros Labs, so my initial thought is no, that is not legit as it is currently the highest scrypt miner on the market and someone would have mentioned it by now.

Also, they say the 5 GH/s costs 55K, and our investment fund is only ~100 btc, which at $400 a coin, is 40K, not even enough to purchase 1.

Haha I put the decimal in the wrong place.  It's always the mundane details.

No problem, although I would have hoped that Cryptx would have provided some other opportunities by now for use of the reinvestment fund, its nice to see the dividend becoming slightly stagnant, but I would like to get our hashrate increased somehow.  Certainly they have had time to talk with GAW, Bitmain, as well as other chip manufacturers/hosting centers, but not even an update in the weekly report.

Its also funny how the amount taken for electricity/hosting didn't change from last week.  Certainly the electricity costs per bitcoin price were not the exact same, which makes me wonder, are they just doing rough calculations to get the hosting fee or what are they doing?

Is there any planned addition to give points to sports bettors the same way that poker players use points that can eventually be exchanged for extra chips or other prizes?

Yes, there absolutely is and we are working on an expansive rewards / VIP program that will have different levels in each, rewards and bonuses.  Excellent question and we are always open to suggestions to improve.

Currently we have these bonuses going:  https://www.betcoin.ag/leaderboard/sports

Some people make more in the bonuses than the deposits or wagers they place!  Were you aware of this?

Thank you for the reply,

Yep I was aware, actually had first place in most won yesterday, so got a nice bonus of 25 credits added to my account.

Your statistics page shows nothing more than your original post.  This is should include other information, such as a full prospectus as well as revenue forecasts/balance sheet info/and what you plan to do with the 1200 bitcoins you plan to raise/ what will happen if you don't raise them.

It should also say who you are and why you are worthy to run a hotel?  Perhaps you aren't trying to scam?  But I have no idea of your qualifications in hotel management or business entrepreneurship.  You could have all the best intentions in the world, but without proper training and experience you will surely run this business into the ground.

DO NOT BUY INTO THIS until further information is given out.  We need full details on who you are and what you have done legally to verify that you can issue shares like this.  You should also have revenue forecasts and so on.  At this point, I am not even sure if you know how many rooms are in that building that could be rented out.  We also don't know the state of the building or anything else associated with how you will use the funds.

Please try a little harder before trying to raise half a million dollars.

2532  Economy / Collectibles / Re: "What is Bitcoin?" silkscreened posters [SOLD OUT] on: September 21, 2014, 03:01:56 PM
I received mine on Friday.  I probably spent a solid 20 minutes carefully cutting into this package so as to preserve the poster, and I assume Nubbins probably spent double that sealing it in.  Very well and professionally done poster/shipping.  I am highly impressed and will be taking it to get framed shortly as it is a piece of art that I am proud of and am looking forward to hanging in a den someday.

Please let me know if you plan on doing a series of these things as I would be highly interested in the next one.

Thanks again,

DebitMe

It existed when I put in my coins, that's the reason that I did!
You should have removed them when it ceased to be, sorry...

I don't remember when an announcement was ever made or a prompt for me to accept new terms...  I assume the change happened when it was converted into the "demo" mode correct?  I don't remember new terms popping up that I had to sign and agree to, of course I could be just forgetting, but I don't remember posts on here or on his website saying the investments were no longer backed.

B bet win!  That was sure a heart pounding ride but we win and once again my bank account is showered with win money.  Gotta love the excitement, especially when a lot of people are talking in skype during the games.

Big win today for our B bet, putting me up another good chunk of change.  Even got some extra chips for being a top bettor at betcoin for the day because of it, so lucky day for me.

2536  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: September 19, 2014, 05:53:50 PM
Did anyone ever figure out who the private backers were for the data tank project?  I think its safe to say that the data tank guys knew the AsicMiner guys as most of Data Tanks prospectus was based off of the BE200 chip.  Has anyone explored if Friedcat was the mysterious backer who bought up all the shares and they are currently working to setup and deploy these immersion cooled tanks?
It wouldn't be too far fetched that what is on BTCguild right now is more of a proof of concept, trying it out in small scale before finalizing the full tank design, and if I remember correctly the timeline that data tank would be operational is coming around soon.

Not speculating or anything, was just wondering if anyone had thought of this or explored whether or not Friedcat could be one of the mysterious backers of this project?

"Does anyone have experience how long my offer would sit there until it gets taken?"
Depends a lot more on external factors and the attractiveness of your offer (if you can live with 0.001%/day in interest, you can immediately lend out coins) than on "experience".
Currently I'm in "FRR cruise control" rather than managing my positions manually, since it's not 100% clear anyways where the price will go and rates are so low anyways, that I don't really see the point in checking everything for 20 min/day just to maaaybe get 50 cents more interest or something... with the risk of pricing too high or low and loosing out against FRR anyways.

First off, thank you very much for the answers, that helped out a lot.  I think this last question did not come across the way I was thinking it would, let me rephrase.

If I do the auto renew option and choose the "FRR cruise control" option, how long, on average, should I expect to wait until it is taken and I start earning interest again?  I understand that the time frame is variable on different market happenings, but a rough estimate based off of experience.
2539  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: September 19, 2014, 03:59:11 AM
So I have a question about how swaps work.  I have bitcoin in my account, and want to earn some interest.  So I offer a swap at 7 days length, xx interest rate, and 1 btc contract.  Someone accepts the swap and then I start earning interest.

I get that part, but that person can then decide to cancel at any time?  And if I have autorenew on, my offer just gets put behind the other 2300 btc of offers that are currently at the flash return rate?  Also, what is the "offer count" number that is on the right column?  Does that mean there are 350 offers of 2300 bitcoins?  Does anyone have experience how long my offer would sit there until it gets taken?
