ok im switching off 2 of my 3 miners for now

2522  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Primecoin Price? on: July 22, 2013, 07:30:02 AM
So Primecoin seems to be climbing in price. How high can we expect to see it reach? is 0.5BTC+ possible? I can see this coin being what Bitbar was supposedly meant to be valued at.

Exactly my thoughts, why would BTB be worth more tha XPM, or NVC for that matter.

Because there's only 4500BTB (with an extremely limited supply growth), compared to 1,000,000 XPM (constant money supply).

Both are great in their own respects.

but what does BTB offer that say bitcoin does not except a more insecure blockchain.....? and less dev's

thus why would I use BTB to store any value?

XPM reward is going down quite a bit....and will go down more as there is quite a lot of optimization to do yet....as well as possibly gpu's then FPGA's and finally asics.

why wouldn't this happen? is the question.

2524  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: eMunie on: July 22, 2013, 06:00:24 AM
ripple for better or worse has shown closed source can have some value.....even though the float is small

I thus think there is room for Emunie with closed source for a not insubstantial number of people.
I also think Emunie will go open source long before an more surely than XRP
2525  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin High Performance on: July 22, 2013, 05:48:39 AM
is a gpu miner out?

any word?
2526  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin High Performance on: July 22, 2013, 03:27:08 AM
is it

 primecoind  -sievepercentage 50 --daemon

Huh? for  sievepercentage = 50%
2527  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin High Performance on: July 22, 2013, 02:10:55 AM
ok hp-6, has now gone a bit above hp-5

is it - command to %sieve etc?
2528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin High Performance on: July 22, 2013, 12:24:17 AM
It is very much like comparing apples and oranges. For Primecoin, the integer part of difficulty determines the required probable prime chain length. E.g. if difficulty is 9.07233632, a probable prime chain of length 9 is required. The fractional part is used to determine how many length-9 chains are accepted. It scales logarithmically so that going from 9.8 to 9.9 is a lot harder than going from 9.1 to 9.2. The details for the fractional part are in Sunny King's paper.

The current algorithm also does more work for longer target chain lengths. That's why PPS numbers are also dropping.

Thanks Mikael, I read that it takes a 30 fold increase in processing power to increase difficulty by 1 . . . if so difficult to imagine difficultly ever climbing beyond 12 or 13.

999/(13*13) =  5.9 per block

i thing there are about 1000x optimization left in the code....at least

did we all see the PPS drop

I went from 14k to 8k....or is that hp6 v hp5 effect?

2532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XPM] FOUNDATION FUND on: July 21, 2013, 10:45:19 AM
That sounds like a brilliant idea. What is the address? I would seriously consider donating some XPM to that worthy cause - the devs earned it.

Ok, I would Like any person to send to have some sort or input into the use of the funds....

the address is

AbWzoKT6Dg2DwcPveHeBumfvWijYgTfN4P

there is now 100 XPM on that address.

Once we get to 10K we can open up to request for funds of ideas or offer bounties

Since sunnyking doesn't want donations, you can send them my way  Roll Eyes

Launda,  I would welcome you to be part of the XPM fund executive that decides what to do.

I am buying XPM. If you made a large stash consider selling some to me as your appreciation of my work. Note there is no premine or tax with primecoin nor do I want donations. But I like to have a stash as well of my creation Wink We can negotiate at market price. PM me.

Yes your right of course, but I guess this the becomes a kind of insurance find to be able to engage other decs, and also to develop other XPM infrastructure
2535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XPM] The gold standard no premine on: July 21, 2013, 04:21:04 AM
Primecoin is dead in the water due to Botnets.

Currently there's a 600K PPS monster botnet herder out there collecting about 75% of the coins, that's why you're lucky to hit a block every three days with 5000-15000 PPS now.

Any CPU based coin will  be owned by the Botnets as soon as any real profit can be made.

Sunny King better get a GPU miner developed pronto if he wants this to live very much longer.

For the record, I believe that Primecoin is the first truly innovative alt coin in a very long time.

~BCX~

uh no, you can hit a block a day with 14K PPS

and in any event the 600K PPS person to have those resources are unlikely to squander the coins, and the secure the blockchain

and you are free to secure your own "botnet"

it takes time to set up a good miner and it takes risk, eg the price can drop etc.
2536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [XPM] FOUNDATION FUND on: July 21, 2013, 03:42:29 AM
I am considering setting up a FUND in XPM any maybe other CC's to act as means to pay Sunny or other DEVS as needed to work on XPM, or XPM related infrastrucutre

I would put in a seed of 100 XPM.

I think the fund would have to hit at least 10K XPM to be worth doing

Open to ideas on how to manage the fund, set it up and if you would like to be a board member and objectives. So sorta like bounties fund except we actually pull together and decide to do it rather than usual premine/bounty justification.

The Address is

2537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Inheriting bitcoins on: July 21, 2013, 03:27:17 AM
put it in your will. and treat the paper wallet exactly like a bearer bond, store it safe and just put its location  in the will

obviously if the funds disappear after you decease but before the family gets to hear the will, you know the lawyer pre-read the will and emptied the private key of the separate paper wallet (bearer bond) dry.

but if the value is enough, eg say btc gos high each, the lawyer may just abscond
2538  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Inheriting bitcoins on: July 21, 2013, 03:17:52 AM
That's what Will's are for - in Australia (and presumably other countries) Public Trustee's can draw up your Will outlining who gets what. ie House goes here, the car goes there, the paintings go to... the cash goes to ... It'd be no differant with any Alt / Digital Coin to 'cash'

Regards,

I really really don't trust the public trustee, essentially they sell of all assets at cheap price to friends and apply highest possible tax rates, further this does not prevent the person getting the wallet screwing it up, before they understand how to use BTC
2539  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Inheriting bitcoins on: July 21, 2013, 02:24:06 AM
How to pass bitcoins/CC on at this point after you pass from this mortal coil is a difficult one

At them moment most people would struggle to understand bitcoin, and if you passed on a wallet or private keys, I think a fair few if not a vast majority would end up deleting the wallet, loosing the keys , or loose coins, or simply not understand what to do....

Does anyone have any ideas how to pass on BTC???

Eg if you give the paper wallet to a lawyer, to pass on, how can you stop them spending it....and they just run off.

I think a lot of BTC will be frozen this way.

what about electrum how does this compare?

Electrum doesn't store the blockchain locally. It reads it off remote servers.

yes I know but this multbit proposal does not store the entire blockchain either, just a clever compressed version
