25361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: May 05, 2017, 04:15:28 PM

here are the two mobos left to right
three cards on each    six card total

4 cards on one psu two cards on the other psu

as a complete aside  here is an aorus  1080 ti   and a msi 1070

note slot 1 is open  I plan to fit the single slot  galax 1070 slim  in slot 1  it should run  easy and cool next to the  msi 1070

look at width of that aorus far right.

25362  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: May 05, 2017, 03:39:27 PM
Yeah  and 2499/776 watts at worst = 3.22 sols per watt at the wall

or 2506/ 750 =   at best = 3.34 sols per watt at the wall

Now I am gentle on the psu  it is a titanium rated for 1500 watts I am doing 776 watts    this maxes efficiency.

I am gentle on the cards  all are about 65-70% tdp settings
25363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: May 05, 2017, 03:30:35 PM
yeah  in theory you can do 4 1080 ti's pull 776 watts.

I just have been sick and busy  and did this  lazy    I have 2 three card  builds    they both have three cards.

one psu is an evga 750 p2 it does a mobo and 2 cards

pne psu is a rosewill tokamak  100 watts it does a mobo with 3 cards and 1 card from the other mobo using a riser.

this is the mobo  that has 2 msi plugged in  note they do 649 and 642 h and they are 59c and 62 c  one of them  is one the tokamak psu

this is the three card mobo all founders cards  all three are on the rosewill psu with the meter at 776 watts   note they all do about 619 sols

25364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: May 05, 2017, 03:09:22 PM
Almost pulled the trigger on 2 of this

https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125955

But ... I like MSI a lost.

https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814137104

But is this one of the good model you were talking ?

https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125954

... more gear please  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

the aorus gives me the best numbers  but it is 3 slots  well 2 ¾ slots wide.

all the founder editions seem to be the same.

I have 3  zotac and  1 pny founders
I have 1 more zotac founder coming

Here are some good msi  better then my founders I have 2.

http://www.provantage.com/msi-gtx1080tiaero11goc~7MSTI0M9.htm

you can get them cheap in newegg canada

https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814137115

they seem to be the lowest priced ones on newegg  ca

https://www.newegg.ca/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007708%208000&IsNodeId=1&Description=1080%20Ti&bop=And&Order=PRICE&PageSize=36

they do better then  the founders.

here is a few shots of 1080 ti's
4 cards the
power at wall = 776 watts on a hot meter  other meters   would show 750 watts

that meter shows 1 mobo and 4 cards below   note the msi  is on a riser and is powered by   that same psu  but runs off the mobo on the right.

Power

1060
1070
1080
1080 ti

All can do 3.2 sol per watt

Even better.

I will post some numbers later.
25366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best GPU's to mine ZCASH with? on: May 05, 2017, 02:29:54 PM
Thanks everyone for posting great info here, I'm interested in all of this but specifically my question is that I have one spot open on a 6 card rig (currently only 5 cards on it) and I want to use the most powerful zcash hashing card on it even if ROI is a little longer. However if it's obviously not worth it then I want the card that's the best choice.

I pay 14c kwh

I am on my iPad so links are a pain to post .

But my thread has info on the Galax katana 1070 thin slim single slot .

Just read the last few post on the thread.
25367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: May 05, 2017, 01:31:03 PM
@ theyankeeswin

I have been looking for an excuse to buy one of them.

I will order and review it when it comes.   It is the thinest mining gpu with some balls.

It could be good for biostar z170 builds

no riser needed

one katana
one 1080 ti
one katana
one 1080 ti

should fit easy with the founder edition

 http://galaxstore.net/GALAX-GeForce-GTX-1080-TI-Founders-Edition_p_123.html

It is a bit high at 432 with shipping.

but it should allow for  4 card builds  and no over heating.

I have an interest in the card.

I shot an email to  jack@galaxytech.com

here it is :

I just ordered the Galax katana  1070 Order #GX......

I will be reviewing it on bitcointalk.org

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1877588.msg18882834#msg18882834

I do not want a price break but please ship it to me quickly.  I would love to be able to  let the people on bitcointalk know  that it is a good mining card.

Thanks Philip A......

I hope he likes mining and sends it to me quickly.

This could be a great card for mining in cases
25368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 4GB vs 8GB gpus, future mining capability on: May 05, 2017, 12:59:55 PM
Hi..i want to know your point of view about when cards with 4GB of ram will be useless for mining as today are the ones with 2GB.

It's good idea to pay an extra today (may 2017) for catch the 8GB models? The cards will burn before the dag reach the 4GB line and will be a lost investment?

Mostly i'm focused in mine ethereum and dash, opinions are welcome.

You sound like a pedal to the metal run the cards hot and hard.

If that is how you mine  get the 4gb.

If you mine at 80 %  and just do a cruisin along style of mining the cards will last  so get 8gb
25369  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: May 05, 2017, 12:50:37 PM

A good question.  card price is king.

if you get a 1060 6gb to do 320h and you spent 220 usd you spent 1 dollar for  1.45h

You forgot 1060 3GB, best price/performance ratio of all Nvidias: mine do 305h@200$. 1.52 ratio!
The only downside is slightly lower resale value.

I would never buy a 3gb card to mine.

No one knows  what coins you will be mining 1 month from now.  and in a month 3gb could be hurt.

zer coin is a knock off of zec but it needs 8gb to mine it.

If zec gets compromised by asics and changes it al-gore-rhythm to only allow 6gb to only allow 8gb the 3gb cards are close to worth less.

so at 200 for 3gb and 220 for 6gb I would get 6gb.

Now of course if  high zec profits lasts for 75 days you would be okay
25370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: May 05, 2017, 12:26:33 PM
For me the best bangs for the bucks has always been rx470 4gb : often cheap , with often discount available. Stable , not power angry. Good hashrate.

I have a spare mobo and PSU not used. Could build one more 4 to 7 GPUs Rigs.
What would you suggest guys as Zec/Nvidia build ? with most revenue per buck invested.

if you get a 1060 6gb to do 320h and you spent 220 usd you spent 1 dollar for  1.45h

if you get 1070  8gb  to do 420h  and you paid 375usd you spent 1 dollar for 1.12h

if you get a 1080 8gb to  do 500h and you spent 450 usd you spent 1dollar for 1.11h

if you get a 1080ti  11gb to do 700h and you spent 615 usd spent  1 dollar for  1.13h

I got this 1080ti below for a good price

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XDN4TXK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?

I got one for 669 free ship 0 tax
I got one for 675 free ship 0 tax
I got one for 615 free ship 0 tax

they work well enough

I got this 1060 for 220

https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-ZT-P10600A-10L-Compact-Graphics/dp/B01IDCOOIU/ref=sr_1_2?

at the price of 220 it was a good deal .

l decide to go all 1080 ti as I have a place to sell them

no regrets with converting most but not all of my rx 470's and rx 480s to this gear.

how much watt of the psu would u guys leave for the system? is 150 watt enough to run everything expect the gpus?

if it is a dedicated mining rig 150 watt is okay more like 125.

Say a 50 watt cpu
a ssd or a hdd
a few fans
a stick of ram

I don't have these issues much as I don't use  6 card rigs

I prefer 4 card or 3 card setups.  with overhead for the psu's

25374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Confused about PSU on: May 05, 2017, 02:18:27 AM
1060 cards are 90 watts or 100 watts  so six card rig should be under 6 x 100 = 600 + 50 for other parts or 650

650 of 1000 is a safe load.

bigger cards pull more  so all 1070's may need the 1200 .

and all 1080 ti's may not do it on a 1200 watt

your other setup should do under 500 watts

Read carefully. This isn't an EVGA PSU, the 1000w is not on the 12V rail. The 12V rail is rated specifically at 50A which is 600w which is cutting it close (but is still perfectly fine if you arent planning on adding more)

you are not reading what I read.

he said he is using a 1200 watt plat corsair.  it is pulling 50 amp's it rates 100 amps it is single rail.  he mentions corsair link that is software reading of what the rail is pulling 50 amps.  his psu would allow up to 100 amps.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139205

he could use a 1000 watt psu  all of the below are 83 amp and he pulls 50 amp  this is good.   all of these are 83 amps and would be safe with some overhead.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139139&cm_re=corsair_1000_watt-_-17-139-139-_-Producte wants to know if
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139194&cm_re=corsair_1000_watt-_-17-139-194-_-Product
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139082   the rail is 83 amps no worries

Hey Phil or anyone that uses smos
Have y'all tried compiling the nvidia drivers on the os
To get support for those cards
I don't have the cards yet to tinker

smOS builder  ty said it does not work with nvidia at the moment.  I have not tried at all

well i've seen that i cant run a 1600 psu @ my electric plugs. do you think i can 6x 1080 with a 1200 psu?

Maybe with good settings.

25378  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My decision on the two group buys of iBelink DM11g-10800mhs . on: May 04, 2017, 11:56:25 PM
ZEC is crazy profitable right now but if you're a seasoned miner you know that you can't build on it for a long time, not even for 3 months.

But then again the 10800 Mhs X11 miner is even better, in fact it's a ridiculously profitable miner with a whole lot of smoke and mirrors surrounding it.

In fact, it's so profitable that currently it would only take 20 days to reach ROI, using the average, $6200 price. As I said before, let's just think for a second and ask who would sell such a crazy profitable miner instead of using them?

The answer is no sane person.

No self respecting miner I have spoken to even remotely considering buying one. A couple of promises and videos are not proof in this day and age and then there are the other red flags...

but as weird as it may seem Zec has a market cap of 100 mill

and dash has a market cap of 600 mill

so pumping or supporting zec  is 6x less expensive then pumping or supporting dash.

I know  in ten days I could look like a moron about zec but there are eth xmr skein and others.

I think it is not the general market cap, it is the newly issued coins to be considered in support the price.

it is both if you are looking to prop the price up.  here is why?

say cap is 100    and 1 new every day.

you buy the 1 or most of it people holding the older 100 can rush to sell due to your prop up.  since there is only 100  you can afford to buy from them .

cap is 10,000 and 1 new every day  you feed money into the 1 easy peasy but 5000 of the old looks to bail that is 50x the cost  to prop price.

better way is use actual numbers there is 110,000,000 in old coin with ZEC    NVIDIA is worth 52,000,000,000 billion or almost 475x  all the old coins   they could buy them all at current price fairly easy.

dash  is 660,000,000 old coins   nvidia is 78 times bigger   much harder to prop price is old holders sell off.

So  consider the wealth of all people that win with ZEC.

INTEL WINS
NVIDIA WINS
even AMD WINS
ASUS
ASROCK
BIOSTAR
MSI
EVGA
SAPPHIRE
ZOTAC

list goes on  they can easily price the current daily price /production  and with ZEC the older pile is not scary as it is small.

compare to BTC   144 coins at 1500 = 2.16 million a day

but back pile 21 billion

If I have 5x Sapphire Radeon VAPOR-X R9 280X and 1x Nvidia 1080 TI what are some of my best options for a PSU?

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151102 I have this currently but I imagine this will not be sufficient for all 6 cards only 5?

dude the r9 280x pull tons of power

you need this psu

evga 1300 g2

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438011&ignorebbr=1&cm_re=evga_1300_g2-_-17-438-011-_-Product

and that is for the five 280x cards

I wonder what  mobo do you have,

I would consider a separate build for the 1080 ti
