For your ruthless scrutiny...   Wink

Nxt Wiki Glossary entries are...

1) generally, about 'what' (plus sometimes a bit of background) rather than 'how'
2) generally, written to be read and understood by my dad, your gran, your neighbour...etc rather than Adam B. whats-his-name and antonious thingymabob.

******
Genesis Account Number
The Genesis Account Number is: 1739068987193023818. Also see Genesis Account.

Genesis Account
This is the first Nxt account created. Its purpose was to issue Nxt to the initial Nxt investors (known as Founders, which are distinct from Stakeholders). The initial balance was zero so once all 1 billion tokens were issued, the balance of the Genesis Account became negative 1 billion. Any NXTs that are now sent to the Genesis Account interact with its negative counterpart (known as AntiNXT) and both are destroyed. The Genesis Account no longer has a balance of exactly negative 1 billion as some users have sent some of their NXT there (for unknown reasons, perhaps curiosity). Nxt is Hardcoded so that no more coins can be issued from the Genesis Account (Transactions from Accounts with negative balances are rejected). Any NXT sent to the Genesis Account cannot be recovered and gone forever. The Genesis Account Password is also published. See Genesis Account Passphrase.

Genesis Account Passphrase
The passphrase that gives any user access to the Genesis Account. The passphrase is “It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen.” taken from the opening line of George Orwell’s book ‘1984’, which begins on the 4th April 1984. This is considered by many to be the release date of the third and final part of BCNext’s essay on the future vision of Nxt. BCNext has also stated that the community does not have to follow his plan. His essay so far can be found here: sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss [links]

AntiNXT
Each NXT has a corresponding AntiNXT. These are a special type of NXTs that have negative values and exist only in the Genesis Account. Any NXTs sent to the Genesis Account are destroyed by interacting with their AntiNXT counterparts. It is logical in that -1 + 1 = 0, or in words AntiNXT + NXT = Nothing.  Also see Genesis Account.

I hope there will be AntiMule on the new forum. Someone who comes on and tells everyone:

"GET READY and hold onto your hats, I about to buy 60 million Nxts on Bter! Nxt will be $15 within a month!"

Somehow, I think people will put less stock in AntiMule's opinion than Emule's. Funny old world...
2543  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 24, 2014, 09:00:31 AM
Thanks LiQio.

Emule, you know you are a big part of Nxt and we all love you but you don't have any Nxts. It has been shown time and time again. Why are you still here.

And you used to be more imaginative, remember all the lies you used to tell about the progress being made?? Can you do one of those for old times sake?

Can someone post the Genesis Account number and accurate password for me please?

P.S. I'll switch to the other forum in the next 9-12 hours. Can someone repost this there, if they think it is worth it.

How many posts per day/hour do we need to keep this top of the altcoin board here on bct?

We could double post marketing, news, critical emule updates etc here to keep the thread top and get to have a shiny new forum too.

Best of both worlds?  Smiley

I am back working on Daedelus' personal notebook the Nxt Wiki Glossary tommorow so prepare to be spammed...

I do have this problem.

Hey Daedelus (or any other wiki contributor),

Can we update the wiki to mention this issue with the old blockchain explorer, and provide the link to the mynxt explorer? Wouldn't want people accidentally resending transactions when they don't see them in the old blockchain explorer.

Ok, ok I jest. But as a halfway house, how about you post the text you want and I will try and find the place to put it and update it for you. Deal?

Edit: Maybe I should have read the post below this one before posting. Oops.
2548  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 21, 2014, 06:39:17 PM
Nevertheless, it is trading not transferring. You cannot transfer 1 BTC to 10 NXT. That makes no sense (at least not for me.)

It isn't applying to "other block chains" but just Assets.

If you created an Asset called BTC and an Asset called NXT (just to confuse everyone) then actually *you could* trade 1 BTC for 10 NXT.

I'm gonna get this wrong...  Roll Eyes

But that is part of the fun!  We all learn together (except CIYAM who knows everything already!)  Grin

The problem I see is people use Atomic CCT so it would need some kind of entry....

Sure - so the main point being that what I was talking about allows you to trade "one Asset for another" (in the Nxt system) and to do that "atomically" (through an AT).

Maybe "Atomic Asset Transfer" works better?

I will draft something and post for scrutiny
2550  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 21, 2014, 06:08:17 PM
CIYAM, you used the phrase "atomic cross chain transfers" earlier. Is that different to "atomic cross chain transactions"?

Hmm... maybe I screwed up - I was taking about the idea of being able to exchange "Assets" through an AT (vs. say moving currency between "parallel chains").

So forget the term "atomic cross chain transfers" (would just confuse).

Perhaps "atomic asset transfers" might be better?

EDIT: Don't worry, not important right now, I'll sort something  Grin

James, I am not going to question or even comment further on any of your ideas.  It seems to me that every time I do, you take it as distracting  neanderthal personal attack and threaten to quit NXT development because both your work and your vision for NXT is so unappreciated.  This is never my intention.  I have only intended to initiate respectful, honest debate on critically important topics.

I do not believe it is appropriate that you have someone you apparently consider to be an ongoing adversary to serve as a treasurer for the funds you control.  Please identify whom you trust to serve in this role and upon their concurrence I will deliver to them passcodes to NXTcommunityfunds, NXTcashoperatingfund and NXTcashcompletionfund.

Best wishes to you and to NXT.

Hey now...  take it easy there...  the discussion ended when CIYAM informed the Nxt community that it could be done through AT...  thus making it a non-issue...  poll should be ended/locked...  and you need to hold on to the passcodes...  PERIOD!    Kiss

Poll has been locked as requested.  My request to James that he identify an alternate treasurer stands.

Ricky, you are a thoughtful guy so I presume this isn't just a personality clash? You shouldn't go, you have been an anchor for a long time. If Nxt doesn't look like it is going to turn out like you expected, don't walk away completely. Drop your stake if you want but say "what the hell, I've come this far. Let it ride". You might be surprised by unknowable events that happen in the future and I've never known a Sheriff desert his post  Wink
2554  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 21, 2014, 09:55:41 AM
I think we should vote again about how much fee NXT should have. Because we know much more today, than we did last month during the poll about Fees.

Or would this disturb the development of NXT? If yes, then I said nothing.

fee upgrade must be dynamic and automatic

OpC has been banging his head against the wall with this being related to the size of the transaction (CfB agrees as it also solves a technical problem of spam prevention (it is in his posts from when this was discussed a while back)).

Igmaca has suggested ammendments to OpC.

These two points are where the discussion should continue from, I don't think we need a poll as there appears to be at least one technical solution.
2555  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 21, 2014, 08:27:25 AM
Consider that every asset pair needs a market for bid/ask to be filled.  When denominated in NXT, N assets provide N markets.  However, if assets are traded directly then would require N! (N factorial) markets, which gets LARGE VERY QUICKLY.  Therefore, direct trading by asset pair could greatly limit available liquidity in any single market.

No, it wouldn't be factorial, it'd be N(N-1) because every asset would have to know it's price relative to every other asset, there are N assets, each of which needs to be traded against N-1 other assets.. right?

Oops, not factorial.  You are correct, but divided by two (if ask/bid grouped as single market) So is: N * (N-1) / 2

Consider 6 assets A, B, C, D, E, and F:

A<->B
A<->C
A<->D
A<->E
A<->F
B<->C
B<->D
B<->E
B<->F
C<->D
C<->E
C<->F
D<->E
D<->F
E<->F

Consider 1000 assets:
499500 markets.

+1440 for the maths, CIYAM will be very pleased Cheesy

PLEASE VOTE IN THIS POLL:

What currency should be used to price and purchase Assets on the upcoming NXT Asset Exchange?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=524432.msg5814924#msg5814924

I may be too late to the discussion (I am reading through) but the same question asked for Nodecoin...

Even if we agree to price all assets in Nxt...

can we stop someone else from coming in and providing a multisig/something else that allows trading without using Nxt?

EDIT: Nevermind, I think we have figured out what decentralised development means RE: Muahahahahahaha!  Wink

Is there a difference between CCT and Atomic CCT?

Sorry, I'm too dumb to answer confidently.

When we refer to CCT for Nxt, we are always referring to Atomic CCT

CCT:
Simply if we decide to trade Bitcoin for Litecoin and I send you BTC and you send me LTC.  You can chose not to send me LTC after you receive BTC, so I get scammed.

Atomic CCT:
1. Bob create and sign the transaction as usual and compute its txid. He sends txid and the transaction body with input scripts/signature blanked to Alice.
2. Alice computes hash of the blanked body, call it blankhash, and constructs transaction with special bitcointxid (blankhash,txid) opcode. Broadcasts the transaction to altchain.
3. Bob waits for altchain tx to confirm and verify its outputs are as previously agreed - at that point he sends the "uncensored" Bitcoin tx to Alice who'll broadcast it. Alice is therefore credited the bitcoin funds, which in turn validate altchain transaction at the same time (this is the atomic point).
4. Note that bob releases his tx only if he is sufficiently confident the altchain will not reorg its transactions, thus possibly double spend. This might imply that *many* confirmations in altchain should come first, however during that time each of them might decide to cancel the trade with no further consequences.

For CCT above, this can be done on a trading thread. I was under the impression that CCT was a bridge between otherwise incompatible blockchains.i.e a nxt transaction is sent > *magic happens* > transaction appears on bitcoin chain? So all chains could eventually 'talk' to each other. Sounds like this is actually atomic CCT.

Atomic CCT are basically trustless escrows?

Edit: I was being rushed to complete this post. I will reply again once I've had time to compose my thoughts better.
2558  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 20, 2014, 10:25:59 PM

What this guy recently learned is wrong; Nxt is not Turing-complete.  Nxt AT is planned to be Turing-complete, but it is a layer on top of Nxt.

Nxt AT?

Automated Transactions I *think*. CIYAM is developing them as it will allow dividends to be paid, he has an interest bearing bond in mind that will be popular IIRC.

Edit: darn it Joe, too quick!
