2541  Economy / Economics / Re: JPMorgan Chase Is Phasing Out Safe Deposit Boxes on: October 03, 2022, 11:26:24 PM
Interesting article and not something that I expected them to do personally.  That being said, I've made it no secret how I feel about big banks, especially the big conglomerates such as JPMorgan Chase Bank.

Just to slight delve in to why I would never ever keep any valuable at Chase banks is because I don't trust their crooked corrupt asses.

I'm not saying that they have or will steal your personally belongings, but these certainly have no problems steal your hard earned cash in any way they possibly can-  https://violationtracker.goodjobsfirst.org/parent/jpmorgan-chase
2542  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: crypto communities on Discord on: October 03, 2022, 11:23:08 PM
I come across a few, and stuck around for a few, but I have to say outside of the bitcointalk collectibles discord groups (we have a couple of them on discord) all of the other cryptocurrency discord groups I've joined /check out are about an equal cesspool of shit as twitter is.  It's very hard to get legitimate information and hold good conversation.

I'm not saying you can't find good ones, just be careful and please do share if you find good ones out there...I've yet to find any!
2543  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think this is gambling? [Collectibles & Gambling] on: October 03, 2022, 11:19:33 PM
I don't think there's any difference between this a collecting baseball cards, pokemon cards, buying real estate or picking stocks, anything sort of asset is a gamble in and of itself.  Bitcoin itself, is a gamble.  I think the important thing is just to remember to always diversify your assets and only "gamble" as much as you're willing to lose when it comes to more exotic types of gambling endeavors such as this one.
2544  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anderson Silva vs Jake paul who you bet on? on: October 03, 2022, 11:17:36 PM
Still can't wait to see this fight.  Really hoping that Silva is training his ass off right now and ready to TKO Jake Paul when the time comes.

That being said, did you guys see how arguably the greatest fighter to ever live called out Jake Paul and Jake admitted he stood no chance against this fighter and that he wouldn't be entertaining a fight against him?  If not check it out here - https://www.youtube.com/shorts/pwKMB_2a_LA

The odds of the Rams / Niners game had shifted to +1.5 Rams by the time I put my bet in. So I just took moneyline...

Rams Nation baby

I don't want to pick a result (it's too depressing if I think about it rationally,) so I just picked a bunch of likely props.

I have no trust in our offense after last week.  Garoppolo was atrocious and didn't really seem to care about it.  Brent Jones even went after Garoppolo for smiling and looking pretty on the sideline after that stupid safety saved him from throwing a pick-6.  But really, Brent was right.  Garoppolo seems to lack the ambition to really succeed.  It's like he has the fuel, but not the spark.

I nailed the AZ Cardinals +1 spread yesterday and hit on the KC Chiefs +1.5  ( I am still hating myself for not betting more I felt better about these two games than any other games I've bet this year BY FAR).. but I just can't decide which way to go for tonight game.

My casino has the Rams at +2 right now, and I want to take it, but the Rams have just not been the same so far this year.  I'm really kind of disturbed at that lack of production from Allen Robinson so far. I expected really big things from him.  Do you guys think Staffords shoulder issue (I think it was his shoulder) is causing him problems?

Just to have something laying on the game to make it interesting I'll probably put a few satoshis on the Rams, but don't feel great about it.
2546  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Bitcoin Pumpkin 🎃 Carving Contest - Interest Check on: October 02, 2022, 05:51:44 PM
What if I 3dprint one?

I abhor Halloween and never celebrate it but a 3d printed one with bitcoin theme might be fun

I like the idea but only if it were in conjunction with carving a pumpkin. That’s the one rule, has to include a physical pumpkin/gourd.

Just wanna say, love the idea. My next few weeks are just so incredibly packed so not sure if I can participate.

If there's enough interest and participants and some cool ideas coming up I would maybe throw in one or two tiny prizes.

Kryptowerk that would be great, but even better if you participate!!

Looks like we’ve got some decent feedback and interest. A few more and I’ll write up the announcement thread.

**Wanting to trade for RB**

I am absolutely stacked at WR. I could use an upgrade to my second RB.  Though I really like all my RBs and they have a ton of upside potential, I’m looking to move one of my WRs and RBs to someone who’s got an extra RB they’d be willing to trade that would be a slight upgrade to any of my RBs (outside Harris of course).  Someone like Aaron Jones for example is the type of back Im looking for.

Anyone interested please let me know

2548  Economy / Collectibles / Bitcoin Pumpkin 🎃 Carving Contest - Interest Check on: October 01, 2022, 07:09:02 PM
🎃 Fall is upon us here in the US, and with fall comes Halloween and pumpkin EVERYTHING (pie, lattes, candles, candies, even canned ham pumpkin spam lol).   I proposed a bitcoin pumpkin carving contest a few years ago and got some participation/feedback but kind of posted it too late and nothing materialized of it ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5192115.msg52727116#msg52727116 ).

So with that said, I wanted to get an interest check and see how many people would be interested in participating. I would put up some pretty cool prizes for the winner. Im not 100% sure yet what I would put up prize wise, but I can promise it would be worth your time, plus , it’s fun!

I know pumpkins don’t grow all over the world so any other type of gourds would be acceptable as well (or doing a mix of both even, be creative!).

If there’s enough interest I will follow up with an official thread..so what say you Huh.. 🎃

Other types of gourd examples

Prayers out to Tua. For selfish reasons this had so many negative effects for me fantasy football wise. I own Tua in our league (and others). Have Waddle in another league. The lack of the Dolphins pass attack meant less throwing for Burrow (whom I have in our league), which then means less love for Chase (whom I have in another league) etc etc.  It also ruined what was to be an epic game.

That said, safety is the number one priority here and by far.  The Dolphins claim that Tua absolutely did not have a concussion last game. So it’ll be very interesting to see how this plays out.

As someone who played football in to high school I can tell you that if I ever have a son, he will not be allowed to play. I always wonder how many concussions I had but never knew it. That Dr who discovered CTE also stated if you played something like just 3 years of tackle football your risk of suicide goes up by like 40% (or something crazy high like that).  It is in my opinion that tackle football should be banned until college. It’s just too dangerous (especially for developing brains). The issues we know of CTE injuries are just the high profiles ones that have come out/been exposed. God only knows how many lives in total CTE has destroyed (demaryius thomas and Vincent Jackson being two of the most recent high profile heartbreaking incidents).

I’m all for tackle football, it’s my favorite sport by far, but not until those playing fully understand the potential implications of it.

Hopefully one day we will learn how to detect it before death. Like guys such as Antonio Brown, it’s quite obvious he has a serious case but we can’t say for sure until he dies.

Not much of a religious person, but prayers to Tua 🙏
2550  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Favorite Misconceptions About Bitcoin on: September 29, 2022, 11:41:34 PM
All of these things are misconceptions that I hear all of the time. The biggest misconception that I hear that drives me nuts is that bitcoin is anonymous and is mostly used for illegal activities. There’s been a number of studies from very affluential outlets that have done on chain analysis that have dispelled this myth time over time; but yet we keep hearing this nonsense.  I’m hopeful it fades away as time goes on.
2551  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you change your mind on gambling ? on: September 29, 2022, 11:38:23 PM
Fuck all of our governments, first off. Now I do count myself lucky that I live in a country where I can freely express my feelings as such, and let my government know how much I truly despise them and think they do a shit job overall..so that being said, yes, of course I’d do anything and everything they tell me that I should do  Wink
2552  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: September 29, 2022, 11:35:06 PM
Hell of a game tonight!! 3-0 Miami Dolphins vs Cincy Bengals, I’m pumped (esp after that boring Monday night football game).  Personally I think Cincy wins, but I just have no how they are going to do so, so I went with the money line bet. I don’t know if that’s a smart bet or not, but I could just easily see this being a really close game.

My favorite part of the game tonight is the uniforms. Miami has their normal sweet looking road unis and the Bengals are wearing their all white unis.  Love those!

Good luck to y’all’s FF teams and bets tonight.
2553  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why is bitcoin price important? on: September 29, 2022, 03:08:31 AM
I think Bitcoin is faivourite son of father of crypto.
Not only that, I think bitcoin is the pin of crypto and the rest are just inflated balloons. And if the pin ever hits a balloon, all the balloons will burst. And so Bitcoin price is very important in crypto.

I think so some extent that’s right but there does feel like to be a bit of separation finally starting to happen between bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, mainly those that are large and completely different in nature such as ethereum and coins or tokens that in large part have to do with staking such as Hex.

Hopefully bitcoin will start moving away from so closely following the stock market.
2554  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will digital dollar be a threat to bitcoin? on: September 29, 2022, 03:05:09 AM
This is a topic that has already been heaving debated and as your post mentions, something that China had already rolled out, some time ago in fact. The truth is the same principles apply as to why neither will be any sort of legitimate contender to bitcoin and that’s because they are both centralized currencies and that’s literally all that needs to be said about it.
2555  Economy / Economics / Re: Age as a factor depreciating some people of their dreams on: September 29, 2022, 03:02:05 AM
This is a good reminder to never say you’ll too old for this or that. Even though I know I’m not old, I’m also no spring chicken anymore and sometimes think to myself “I’m too old to do this, or I’m too old to do that”, most in regards to work type stuff, but this is an important reminder that it’s never too late to change jobs, or careers and continue to pursue things that you enjoy or are your passion.
2556  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 29, 2022, 02:57:15 AM
Was listening to local sports radio today and just heard about how Alonzo Ball , for the Chicago Bulls, is getting ready to have surgery soon, and while he expressed a certain level of optimism they did ask him if he thought there would be any change he didn’t come back in 2023 and he simply said that’s the “worst case scenario”. Local sports anchors were saying they wouldn’t count on him coming back at all. Pretty depressing for Chicago Bulls fans.
I think that's the reason why they signed Goran Dragic. The Bulls' management knew that the procedure taken by Ball was not enough so surgery is the only best solution to take that pain away.
A bit sad for Lonzo, this is the prime of his career where he could lead the NBA in assists and be on top of the point guard discussions.
Dragic will definitely be their main ball handler but I doubt he could play at full time so Dosunmu and Coby White should always be ready for a sudden substitution.

Yup exactly why they went out and got him. I remember the first (and last) time I ever played fantasy basketball I drafted Goran Dragic, this was like 2012ish , he was actually pretty solid. But that feels like an eternity ago and I just can’t can’t expect much out of the guy. It’s pretty depressing because the Bulls realistically don’t have a chance without a mega-star , and Ball likely won’t change that but we’ll never know until we get him in the lineup.
2557  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: September 29, 2022, 02:52:29 AM
Dolphins remain unbeaten, yet another impressive win! I'm not sure why officials allowed Tua to continue after that play at the end of the first half, aren't there concussion protocols in place? He clearly looked knocked out, if you haven't seen the video:
I watched that game and honestly I could not believe my eyes, the Bills should have won that game easily and yet they committed so many mistakes the Dolphins somehow found a way to win, now about Tua, I really hope there is an investigation because it is obvious this was not a back problem and the Dolphins are trying to cover it up.

W0w, Great week guys!

Congrats Southpark, we both really needed this win!

BBC, your really shining congrats as well!

Hopefully we can keep it close without anyone running away this season.
We really needed it, going 0-3 would have been a disaster for any of us, and bbc.reporter is really crushing the league at the moment with Lamar playing so well, however I will admit that it worries me as he is obviously trying to show his value and get a better contract, but if he is not careful this could result in an injury.

Not looking good for any of us who have Chargers players in their squads, especially the left tackle going down. Herbert is literally a hit or two from not playing at all. I wish he didn't play on Sunday. I mean just look at all the injuries they have:

Yeah, I benched Connors this week and now I'm benching Ekeler  (couldn't talk myself into benching both this week) on my other team. At least I have Gordon sitting on the bench.
I was planning on benching Ekeler on week 4 but the LAC are facing Houston, if they cannot run the ball on Houston of all teams then I will be forced to bench Ekeler for some time, fortunately for me I went RB heavy during the draft or right now I will be in deep trouble with my first round pick not being as productive as I thought he would be.

Was just traveling home from work out of town and had a good deal of time to listen to some sports radio and one of the big things they came up was just how banged up the Chargers are. The big one for the entire offense is one of thier starting O-Lineman being out right now. I can’t remember exactly which position he plays but I know he’s one of their top 5 best players, and obviously that hurts the whole offense.  I’ve got Herbert in another league so obviously a bit worried. I think offense will bounce back, I wouldn’t give up hope in Ekeler yet, but yeah nice matchup this week with the Texans !
2558  Economy / Economics / Re: Paypal could be banned from blocking accounts for political reasons (UK) on: September 28, 2022, 01:09:20 AM
PayPal is an absolute joke, and they will often ban accounts for all sorts of reasons that are largely politically motivated. They operate in a way that is very similar to Coinbase. (I used to always call Coinbase the PayPal of crypto before they actually started selling /storing crypto).

My advice to everyone is to STOP using PayPal/Venmo. Start using more legitimate apps such as CashApp. They are much less politically motivated.
2559  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How mentally prepared are you? on: September 28, 2022, 01:04:17 AM
Some pretty good advice being given here. One thing that I can never stress enough to people is to educate yourself first and foremost. Understand, truly understand what it is that you are buying. In doing so you’ll prepare yourself, mentally, that way you understand what you’re getting yourself in to as well as prepare yourself so you don’t make mistakes by panicking because you don’t understand what’s happening say during a downturn in the market value.
2560  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SEC met up with Tim Draper and Satoshi Nakamoto? on: September 28, 2022, 12:59:48 AM
This is complete heresy and I find it hard to believe thees any credibility at all to this story. It was pretty obvious that he wanted to remain anonymous at all costs, and him all of a sudden revealing his identity, especially to the government to talk about a project that he didn’t want any known association with just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me.
