Awesome setup gigavps. Have you ever thought of raising capital through glbse? I'd love to invest some Smiley

I have been self funding up to this point. I have 31Gh running and it is soon to be 40Gh. Smiley

I am not even sure how I would do that. I will look into it and see.

Just a heads up, if your interest rate was at 5% previously, it has now doubled to 10%. This is to thank all of you how have loaned BTC to me and trusted me. It means a lot and I want you guys to know that you are appreciated.

On top of this, I have started to repay loans early. If you take a look at the spreadsheet, you can see the order in which people lent BTC. You will be repayed in this order as I earn bitcoins.

The first three have been repayed. Here are the transactions:

Installed the 5870s this morning, they are quite impressive.

BFL Labs amazed us once aggain.
They have got 2 working software, and no devices to work on for sale Wink

Maybe you should ask how luke-jr tested his software then....

The 5870s arrived today! They'll get installed tomorrow.  Cheesy

2566  Bitcoin / Pools / p2pool - Decentralized, Absolutely DoS-Proof, Pool Hopping-Proof Pool [archival] on: January 08, 2012, 02:47:52 AM
I read earlier in the thread that mining for namecoin on p2pool is solo and not setup to be shared between all of the miners on p2pool.

What would need to happen to get this working? Is it possible?

Also, what can be done to get some nice graphs / charts around mining on p2pool?

I would contribute to a bounty if need be.

P2pool is the only long term viable option for pools IMHO and I would like to see it succeed.
2567  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT - Easy persistent USB key based linux for dedicated miners/mining farms on: January 07, 2012, 07:37:01 PM
Where can I get a list of all the packages and their versions etc. contained in the latest BAMT Huh

Thanks !

Hi bulanula,

Might be best if you installed the OS on a USB key and read the directions. It's pretty striped down so there isn't much.

Take care,
gigavps

Bump for visibility. This is by far the best way to mine Bitcoin. Any miner worth his hashes should be using this pool!

I will pledge to start hashing on p2pool with 10Gh starting the middle of January.

Hmmm. This sounds familiar.

FWTW, I run 30Gh with the Asrock boards and have nothing but good things to say about them. I run 5x6950, 5x5850, 5x5870 and 5x5830 without any issues.

I also have the following items if you would like to buy them from me for bitcoins. These are extras left over from my build out.

- ASRock 970, same as I linked to.
- Sempron CPU
- Sticks of memory
- Extenders

PM me if you are interested.

All of the equipment is new and I would sell it for BTC. rjk bought some of this stuff from me and is all up and running. This would help get your costs down more.

Oh I will... I'll remember that. My thought is that at $500 (now $600) and a chance of a $25k per rig, they want people to be confident in them. Losing $500 isn't much if 3 people buy 2 singles and one idiot buys a rig box or whatever it is called (the 25k one)

Dude... seriously.  Give it up.  Your rhetoric is getting increasingly tiring.

+1000

If you didn't give them YOUR money, why do you care?
2572  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Pirate@40 Lending Network on: January 06, 2012, 08:21:14 PM
"Sub leasing" out P@40 space while being moral, ethical, legal, unstoppable, etc. is just kind of, well ... rude (and a bit greedy).

Yes.  If he wants to get greedy about it, I know some people above him in line Smiley

I might know someone too.  Smiley
2573  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Please critique this mining rig build on: January 06, 2012, 07:58:25 PM

gyg, i got excited when you showed this link, but they they are not 170 each....  they are Price:   US $370.99  each..

Wow, they used to be cheaper, wonder why the seller changed the price so dramatically.

They must have changed the price today to see if they can make some more money. Bastards.

2577  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Extremly slow minting? on: January 06, 2012, 02:34:55 PM
Last BTC block was minted 2 days and 5 hours ago.. Whats up with this? Really bad luck?

Please check your sources.

Here is a good one -> http://blockchain.info/

Please also be more clear. Are you talking about your pool? The network in general?
2578  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Looking for lenders on: January 06, 2012, 04:44:21 AM
is this thread driving up bitcoin prices?
i look at MtGox volume, and on any given day, the volume in the tens of thousands.
At such volume, this thread should have very small effect on the price of BTC.
What do you guys think? Is there someone else gobbling up all the supplies?

lulz  Cheesy

Hi Nyte,

Your $$$/Mh is pretty high right now. I would like to make some suggestions to get this down. Please look through my post history to see my credentials.

Motherboard:
  • Biostar TA990FXE AM3+, AND 990FX chipset, $130

I would recommend going with this motherboard -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157262

Saves you $20 and you can run 5 cards with extenders if you want some day.

Processor:
  • AMD FX-6100 3.3 GHz (3.9 GHz Max Turbo Core), Hexa-Core, 8 MB Shared L3 Cache, $160

If this is a dedicated mining rig, I would recommend using a sempron CPU -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103888

Saves you $120.

CPU Cooler:
    • Xigmatek Gaia SD1283, $30

If this is a dedicated mining rig, you can just use the stock cooler with the CPU.

    Saves you $30.

    Memory:
    • Mushkin Enhanced Redline 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) 240-Pin DDR3-1600 Kit Dual-Channel Desktop Memory Kit, $40

Just get two value sticks of 1Gb memory -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139343

    Saves you $20.

    Graphics:
    • 3 x Radeon HD 5870 2GB GDDR5, $600

Get these at ebay -> http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-ATI-Radeon-HD5870-HD-5870-PCI-e-3D-Video-Graphics-Gaming-3-Port-Card-w-HDMI-/130608691744?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item1e68e27a20#ht_2994wt_1348

At $170 each, you can get three for $540.

    Saves you $60.

    Hard Drive:
    • OCZ Vertex Plus 60 GB SATA II SSD 60 GB, SATA 3Gb/s, $80

Don't do a hard drive if it's a dedicated mining rig. Do this -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139246

    Saves you $70.

    Case:
    • Antec Three Hundred, $58

When I first started mining, I tried 3 6950s in a high air flow case. It did not work. Look around on the forums and figure out how to build an open air case. You'll save your cards and your sanity. Build it out of wood, it's less expensive.

    Power:
    • Corsair Professional Series HX1050 80 Plus Silver Certified 1050-Watt, $210

    Do this PSU -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817517008

    Save you $100.

As for the OS, use BAMT. Look it up on the forums. Donate to the creator.

Looks like if you follow my instructions above, you'll save ~$300 and build a 1.2Gh rig for under $900. Your $$$/Mh would be around $0.75 which is a good target for all new equipment.

Let me know what you think.[/list]
2580  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My initial Radeon HD 7970 mining benchmarks on: January 05, 2012, 11:09:11 PM
~650MH/s with the default diablominer settings and the card OC'd @ 1125/975MHz:

Should be interesting to see the power draw running at 650Mh/s. $/Mh ratio still won't be right for a while but the reduced power draw could make up for it.
