would it be feasible to just go out of beta into gamma and only be available as a hidden service
that way good luck finding the server and there goes the problem with registering any legal entity what so ever.

+1

I'd like at least a site backup on Tor just in case the MIB seize the server. Ideally it should work on auto and be so autonomous that even if the MIB waterboard Nefario they could not stop it.

After some tests, my favorite compromise is:
5870: 870-300@1.06v = 380-390 Mhs
5830: 830-250@1.05v = 266-267 Mhs
Less is too low for me at the moment.
2564  Economy / Speculation / Re: Rally!!!!! on: April 21, 2012, 09:14:12 PM
From now on, it can just go up and upper. euro and dollar are going down the drain any time from now.
2565  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Why all the interest in 5830s recently? on: April 21, 2012, 08:07:41 PM
In conclusion: 5830s are still the biggest bang for the buck. That's the way to go for poor-man's mining (until they remain profitable)
2566  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: my mining experiences so far on: April 21, 2012, 05:08:02 PM
I remember that I stopped mining for a few months when the price dropped below 5. Luckily I did not sell my coins at the bottom though. Now I am thinking about getting another 5870 or two (I am at 1.35 Ghs now). Before the ppl in the waiting list for BFLs get their fpgas, I should get close to 100% ROI. Then I will have subsidized heating the next winter.
2567  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Judge My Potential Mining Rig on: April 21, 2012, 04:51:07 PM
Well I may invest in an additional one in the future. Can the power supply I'm using handle two?

Yes. I run 2 5750 with a 500W Psu from months 24/7.
But if I were you, I would spend a little more for a 750W psu which would allow you to run 3 or maybe even 4 58XX cards.
Case and HD are superfluous for a miner.
2568  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [idea] promotion of bitcoin as normal daily solution on: April 21, 2012, 03:58:56 PM
My idea is to make a tutorial to print your BTC notes/cheques, since ppl is too accustomed to paper monies.
The only trick to be found is a DIY equivalent for the Casascius holograms, i.e. a way to keep hidden the private key which cannot be easily reversed. Maybe a wax seal? (lol)
On a second thought, just instructing them to not show the private key until they have decided to spend the note may be enough, if
they print some blockchain.info or Strongcoin wallets in small amounts, e.g. 0.1 BTC each.

edit: I catch the chance to propose a contest for BTC notes design. How about it?
2569  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Business Idea - Social Network Faking / Relationship Renting on: April 20, 2012, 09:20:47 PM
On a side note...there is big money in faking users in social media.
See - our government:
http://www.informationweek.com/news/security/client/229219056
Fake people to push propaganda.
I enjoyed reading the part where the project is open source.
~Bruno~

Actually I thought about setting up an agency kinda "Internet Trolls Swarms For Hire" to market social media spamming, and paying the trolls in BTC. But i lack the technical expertise. Anyone interested?
2570  Economy / Speculation / Re: Time is Now on: April 20, 2012, 09:06:17 PM
5.30.. 5.30... anyone said 5,50?
Even namecoins are rallying. lol
But it's probably just phiat monies who are going down all together.

Someone should show them how to print BTCs and their fractions
2572  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Once we see a major collapse, Bitcoin shall rise. on: April 20, 2012, 05:58:38 PM
The collapse of phiat phunny money castle of cards will make us philty rich.
Divide all the world's assets + income by 21 millions to guess how much.
2573  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Why all the interest in 5830s recently? on: April 20, 2012, 03:42:47 PM
uggggg, but they are power hogs.

Anyone has actually verified and can quantify this affirmation?
I have some doubts that they actually consume the same of a 5870.

BTW: I have read somewhere here yesterday that someone has been able to undervolt a Sapphire 5830. I have one, and a Xfx too, and I was not able to undervolt any, both using Trixx and Afterburner. Maybe mines are locked?
2574  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Business Idea - Social Network Faking / Relationship Renting on: April 20, 2012, 03:22:01 PM
I think that just good old e-pimping would be way more convenient for both sellers and buyers.
(how much should a nice grl ask per hour to get bored while faking a relationship with some disgusting dude?)
2575  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who is still Mining? on: April 20, 2012, 09:40:50 AM
if you have a decent electricity cost you can give a shot to mining with little risk with some second hand GPUs to see if it's worthwhile, and easily resell the gpus with little loss if you find that is not. Or you can mine just in the winter to have "free" heating. I wonder what the fpga crowd will make of their investment if something goes wrong.
2576  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The 0.4.0 encrypted wallet has been exploited - for sure on: April 19, 2012, 08:47:58 PM
A point in favor of Wuala, who does automatic encryption on your side, so no one on their side can steal you anything.
2577  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Argentina, on the verge of a new currency collapse on: April 19, 2012, 10:10:00 AM
Bill Bonner reporting from Argentina today:
This Is Argentina
http://www.dailyreckoning.com.au/this-is-argentina/2012/04/19/

Quote:
That’s what’s nice about Argentina. You know where you stand. You know the politicians are crooked and the bureaucrats are incompetent, if not completely mad. You know you have to find a way around them...a way to dodge their rules...a way to protect yourself. You know the government’s figures are lies and its promises are empty. You know what to do with its currency too — try to get rid of it at the earliest opportunity.

That’s why the federales in Argentina have new dogs on the job at the international airports. They’re not trying to stop people from bringing in weapons or contraband. They’re trying to stop people from taking out dollars!

Yes, dear reader, the papers tell us that the Argentines have trained dogs to sniff out dollars — striking fear in the hearts of those who would try to convert their pesos to dollars and take them where they might be safe.

Meanwhile, back in Argentina, the Kirchner government has announced the forced nationalization of the nation’s biggest oil company — YPF. Naturally. The government said it was unhappy with the way the owners were (not) investing in new development. So, they’re taking the company into their own hands — as if the penniless pampa feds will invest more!

What better way to convince foreign investors NOT to invest their money in Argentina; take away their assets. Heck, it worked for Cuba and Venezuela.

Seems transparently nutty. But that’s what’s so good about it. You know what is going on in Argentina. You know for a dead certainty that the government is corrupt and incompetent. And you know you have to watch out!

*** Fortunately, while the Argentines close doors publicly, they leave doors open privately. That is, it is a society like Sicily, where there are laws...and there are ways around them.

We were worried about the effects of another stupid law passed recently by the Argentine government. It prevents foreigners from owning large parcels of farmland. Since your editor owns two large parcels...and since even a blind, deaf and dumb man could not mistake him for an authentic Argentine...he would seem to be the very person the law is meant to restrain. So, we put the question to our lawyer.

“Yes,” he said. “That’s what the law says. But this is Argentina.”

2579  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The case for an afterlife is very simple. on: April 18, 2012, 09:09:28 PM
I wonder if everybody here will remember to mention his BTCs in his testament (and if their survivors will be able to use them).
Otherwise a slow (and then increasingly faster) die-off of BTC may well be in the cards, given the limited production.
2580  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: GLBSE darknet mirror. on: April 18, 2012, 07:51:25 PM
No point it would just get jumped on by all the gun loving yanks they think neo-liberal Obama is socialist!

(Since you asked) gun toting, bible thumping yanks are much closer to the real deal of anarchy than euro-pinkos "anarco-socialists" (which can mean only "anarco-statists" -lol).  Yanks rightfully mean "statist" for socialists/nazi/socialists/commies/fascists/trots/what have you; They are all the same for them, and they are dead on right.
