What's the diff in price?

Edit: Make sure you check desables. Most miners other than bitmain are LOUD. I have two Rockminer RK-Boxes that sound as loud as a big vaccum machine.

WOW.

I know the S4 starts up loud then it quiets down after it starts mining.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KD4vdR7ZS8s

Watch this video on the S4 starting up and see how loud it is at first.  It then quiets down once it starts hashing.

Ya, it plugs into the pi which has mining software on it. Again I recommend the pi or A10cubie over the BE controller.

Which do you think is better, pi or A10cubie?
Pi is cheaper I have PSU's and you only need 1200 watts which can be split such as 650w controlling 2 of the 4 boards and a 650 on other 2 since 4 independent boards make one prisma

okay, thank you.

Sounds fine for a "seasoned" miner.  I'm not seasoned.  It took me approximately 14 hours to figure out how to even connect to my S3's.  I had to manually enter in IP Address: 192.168.1.1, Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway: 192.168.1.99 in my "Network" under "System Preferences" before I could finally get to the log in screen of the S3.  LOLOLOLOL Grin

Part of that 14 hours also due to paper clips I was using for the PSU.  Apparently, the paperclips were COATED WITH A CLEAR PLASTIC OR RUBBER.  I did not know this and was almost to the point of pulling my hair out before I finally figured it out.  I told myself I'm doing everything correctly with the PSU.  Then, I noticed on the paper clip package that they were "coated."   LOLOLOLOL   Grin

I'm just not sure I want another fiasco with something new.  New to me anyway.

I would go on price. I have both bitmain and the other miners(AM/Rockminer) with the BE200 chips. Bitmain seems to always be a little more stable.

That was my MAIN concern and my concern was staying with "what I'm familiar with."

Not sure about something else I'm ignorant of.

I'm staying open minded and trying to determine which to get; Prisma or S4.

well just bought a prisma with a rpi and wifi will be getting second mid week so 2.8 th/s 2000w for about 3 btc a little cheaper then an s4

I'm still trying to find out who makes this Prisma you're talking about and can I buy it from the manufacturer with BTC?

Also, was it two 1.4 Th/s units or one 2.8 th/s unit?

And something else:  Does it come with PSU?  That costs money too.

I normally don't vouch for anybody, but I will for CrazyGuy.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=795477.msg8956589#msg8956589

Looks like payment for batch 5 deadline is midnight tonight.

Thanks for the link...

Looks like one has to buy a 1200 or 1500 PSU to run one of the 1.4 TH/s Prisma's?

Also, when it says, " - ASICMiner Block Erupter Controller (.069 BTC) - Controls up to 8 units - "  Is that what makes it "stand alone" without using a host with cgminer?

What exchanges do folks use and/or recommend? I have a little bit of coin Smiley that I'm considering changing to $$ when BTC hits $510 (LOL). just wondering what exchange seems the safest and the least expensive.

Thanks

www.coinbase.com

I agree!

I'm with Coinbase as well.  It took a little time to go through the approval process.  Linking checking account with coinbase took a few days because I had to enter in two (2) deposits they made to "confirm" with coinbase.  The same thing has to be done on other exchanges.  We have to send them a copy of photo I.D. (front & back) and a copy of recent utility bill.  I cannot remember everything I had to do to get confirmed with coinbase but I think it's worth it.  I like the 2FA (2 factor authentication) as well.  They will send you a text message with a 7 digit code for you to log in.  Without that code, you cannot log in.  It is done every time you log in.

Still PLENTY of time for $510.00.   Grin

^ that last invalid block may have been my fault Undecided I had ordered a new Monoprice gold plated usb cable from Amazon and the minute it arrived at my house I plugged it in between my Rockminer and raspberry pi and immediately knew something was amiss. The first evidence? The small wormhole that appeared in our living room, right next to our holstein cowhide recliner. Peering into it I could discern the snarling face of a Ferengi, likely somewhere out in the Gamma quadrant.

Then things got really hairy. Brad shouted from the kitchen that he was detecting elevated tachyon levels from our Vita-Mix, so we immediately diverted power to our forward Ronco Rotisserie array. Set it and forget it, indeed.

Still no go. The wormhole continued to grow. So I did what anyone in this rather awkward situation would. I recalibrated our George Foreman Grill (about 10 picometers), ejected the warp core from our Dyson Ball Vac, and pulled back the freq's on all the antminer s3's in the house. Bingo. No more worm hole.

I guess what I'm saying is that you can use this cable, but only if you have substantial Star Fleet training.

Sorry to agree, but you ought to know better than to buy a Monoprice gold plated usb cable from Ferengi Amazon.  It sounds like you came out of it ok, but I can't help feeling that wormhole event was a cheap Ferengi party trick to divert your attention from the temporal excursion that was undoubtedly the main target of this infiltration.  The elevated tachyon levels provide ample evidence of this and if you check your security cameras, you will likely find that your S3s seemed to vanish for a split second, but were really being beamed several years back into the past, where they spent a few hours mining at least a million BTC into a Ferengi wallet.  It's a clever trick to earn a bit of extra latinum and if they hadn't tried to control your Vita-Mix, they might have gotten away with it, but those Ferengi just can't resist a nice marshmallow smoothie...  Grin

I know it's a lot of fun posting offtopic stuff, and slush himself no longer responds on this thread, but the bulk of the people who come to this thread are here to talk about the pool, so please keep it on topic.

No problem.  Will do!

I have several crew members on my ship from Alabama!!!! They don't like that college football do they?

We breath college football from birth when we choose Bama or Auburn.

BY THE WAY, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!

I was in the Marine Corp myself from 1984 to 1988.

Last one Grin

A teacher was teaching her second grade class about the government, so for homework that one day, she told her her students to ask their parents what the government is.

When Little Johnny got home that day, he went up to his dad and ask his what the government was.

His dad thought for a while and answered, ''Look at it this way: I'm the president, your mom is Congress, your maid is the work force, you are the people and your baby brother is the future.''

''I still don't get it'' responded the Little Johnny.

''Why don't you sleep on it then? Maybe you'll understand it better,'' said the dad.
''Okay then...good night'' said Little Jonny went off to bed.

In the middle of the night, Little Johnny was awakened by his baby brother's crying. He went to his baby brother's crib and found that his baby brother had taken a crap in his diaper. So Little Johnny went to his parent's room to get help.

When he got to his parent's bedroom, he looked through the keyhole to check if his parents were asleep. Through the keyhole he saw his mom loudly snoring, but his dad wasn't there. So he went to the maid's room.

When he looked through the maid's room keyhole, he saw his dad having sex with his maid.

Little Johnny was surprised, but then he just realized something and thinks aloud, ''OH!! Now I understand the government! The President is screwing the work force, Congress is fast asleep, nobody cares about the people, and the future is full of s**t!''

LOL

Good One!

Joke time  Cheesy

A Yankee walks into a bar in Alabama and orders a cosmopolitan. The bartender looks at the man and says, "You're not from 'round here are ya?"

"No" replies the man, "I'm from New Hampshire." The bartender looks at him and says, "Well what do you do in New Hampshire?"

"I'm a taxidermist," says the man. The bartender looks bewildered, so the man explains, "I mount dead animals."

The bartender stands back and hollers to the whole bar, "It's OK, boys! He's one of us!"

I lived in Berlin, New Hampshire for 9 months before moving back to Alabama.  When I did, the IQ went up in both States.

Your name calling gets us nowhere either.

Also, you put yourself in league with "everyone."  I was not antagonizing "everyone."  I was not even antagonizing "YOU."  If anyone is doing antagonizing, it is you.
May not get you anywhere, but it does me (see you have shut up now)!
And stop deluding yourself that you are not antagonising anyone, those tablets were prescribed for a reason. Now, unless there is something of substance from you, I shall not be responding to your trite anymore in order to maintain the civility that was prevalent here before you reared your ugly head. (Mr Ignorant can safely ignore anything after this line)

8hrs+ on this block ..... our luck's gotta turn!

Who is antagonizing?

I'm done with it when you are done with it.  Enough said.
2579  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: October 15, 2014, 08:16:14 PM
Talking of bloody luck, 28+hrs then 10+hrs then 7+hrs and now 6+hrs and counting ... that is 3 blocks in the last 51hrs!
I really needed to know how that pool luck is computed, but now I think I have better things to worry about. Thanks Mr Teal, JT and Mr Ignorant for all the answers (I have laid that to rest).

YOU KNOW WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH YOUR "Mr. IGNORANT' AS WELL.

IT DOESN"T SMELL GOOD THERE.  PUT IT THAT WAY.

Can't read between the lines here ... are you loosing your rag over the Mr Ignorant bit? Hope not since you tagged yourself so (and gave me exclusive rights too)!

Still, the luck at slush hasn't changed since my last, now just notching up to 7+hrs!

Your language and attitude is the issue.  Like the "rag" bit.

Yes, I figured you would come back with the "Ignorant" bit as well.  I should have known you would anyway from your attitude.

Hmmm! Know what, I like this forum for one thing, it has the ignore button and since you detest my attitude you can simply push that button on me. Enough said.

Nope, will not do it!

I LOVE transparency!!
Then do not whinge and whine at me, Mr Ignorant.
Without me asking, you said I could call you Mr Ignorant, and the very first time I do, you throw your toys out of the pram. Now you stand on your pulpit preaching transparency. Man, if you need tablets, make sure you take them before antagonising all and everyone.

I am off to watch apprentice, but will be back in a couple of hours (just so you know you twat).

Your name calling gets us nowhere either.

Also, you put yourself in league with "everyone."  I was not antagonizing "everyone."  I was not even antagonizing "YOU."  If anyone is doing antagonizing, it is you.

I remember when the Slush forum was just people whining about luck  and asking how to setup miners and various other needs for help...
Now its people whining about luck, crying about what others said and general off topic gabbing, and ones needing help get washed away....

Those were the days ... (ahhh! with lovely sunsets .... warm evenings .....WELL, its winter now!)

As for ignoring, you suggested it, so do it to me.

Enough said
