2561  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best Pair to trade with Bitcoin? BTC-USDT or BTC to Altcoins? on: February 04, 2017, 03:19:15 PM
USDT is still an altcoin, but as long as it can keep its price the same as USD and have the same high volume with packed orderbook it is a good option. and now that bitcoin is rising it becomes a better option too.

but from altcoins i have my eye on litecoin. it is getting very hot these days specially with segwit being activated on it.
2562  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Good coins on Bittrex that aren't on Poloniex? on: February 04, 2017, 03:13:43 PM
I disagree. What about Waves? Waves seems like a cool project, but it's not on Poloniex. Iconomi also seems quite interesting, but its not on Poloniex, only on Kraken, so as you see, there are tons of shitcoins in Poloniex that shouldn't be here, and some good ones aren't there yet.

I disagree more. Waves was a pure scam, a lot of people lost too much money, devs sold premined coins just to block price decrease but price still declined. People who bought from ICO made huge losses right after ICO ends. You should know all of that if you follow the coin. I guess you're late comer and don't know anything about it.

most altcoins with ICO are scams, or maybe we can't call all of them scams but surely all of them fail in price. apart from those few big ones with huge whales manipulating them.
in any case i have seen waves and it never interested me enough to wanting to trade it despite the fact that it had some pumps.
2563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LiteCoin SegWit adoption chart on: February 04, 2017, 03:08:35 PM
pretty neat stuff. i was actually looking for somewhere that has a chart similar to bitcoin charts.
but your data seems to be different (with a big difference) compared to the one from http://litecoinblockhalf.com/segwit.php website which is showing segwit adoption for litecoin.
it shows 11.37% of blocks (in the last 8064 blocks) have been mined with Segwit

you are showing 3.4% out of 555 blocks!! why is it 555?

it is usually reported based on difficulty retarget not a random number of blocks. and since litecoin is generating blocks faster it should be bigger than 2016 (which belongs to bitcoin)
and surely enough in other site it is 4*2016=8064 blocks

fix that and also add which miners are signaling segwit and it is going to be a good source.
2564  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin value is returned to 1000$ again on: February 04, 2017, 03:02:20 PM
it has been over 2 days that bitcoin has passed the $1000 mark, you are too late to the party and view sharing Smiley
read the previous topics about this and you will find more information.

and besides this rise was long overdue, i said this when we were heading back down to 800-900 the first time, i said it will come back up soon.
2565  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How people can have so much BTC in their wallet? on: February 03, 2017, 01:57:47 PM
Well, i so curious how can people have so much BTC in their wallet.

I saw on gambling website if they have 10+ BTC, and i found people who say he have 30+ BTC in their wallet.
So how people can have BTC so much? are they buy some bitcoin and invest it or win from gambling with or without do deposit?

Sorry for this, i want have a lot bitcoin so i want to ask this as newbie . Thank you.

*sorry if my english is bad.

you are asking a general question then limiting it to one specific case.

i will first say generally, that people buy bitcoin and invest in it. many have been doing this for years, when price was so low. some when price was $10 or less some like me from when price was $200-$400
30BTC were worth $300 and $6000 respectively at those prices.

or it can be services, such as a mining pool, an exchange cold storage, a web wallet service,... these have thousands of bitcoin at their disposal.

now your specific case, when you see someone (an account) on a gambling site with lots of bitcoin on it there are only two assumptions in my opinion
1. it is millionaire kiddo with lots of daddy's money who is wasting it on gambling
2. the site is reporting fake numbers.
2566  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: !! BEST ALTCOIN !! on: February 03, 2017, 01:49:49 PM
first of all 4 out of this many is a lot. you should have made it 1 vote only.

secondly you are not saying what you mean by "best".
if it is best features then what is 2017 in here, none of them are the best in features. litecoin is about to add segwit which can make it better. also there is always monero which is offering anon transactions.

if it is price and profitability, then they can all be profitable because all the altcoins will get pumped one way or another.

or did you have some other meaning in your mind?!
2567  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where and which part of day do you gamble? on: February 03, 2017, 01:43:46 PM
if i am playing dice games, it really doesn't matter because i can play them from anywhere and it can be any time of day as long as i have access to my phone and an internet connection.

and if i am playing a sports betting game then it again doesn't matter because i just have to place the bet not really do anything more. and for that i again need my phone and internet access.

what determines my gambling habit is only how much bitcoin i have to spend.
2568  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think we will break the $2000 mark some day? on: February 03, 2017, 01:37:54 PM
Definitely, we will surpass the $2000 milestone in this year, or latest next year. Not only me is so optimistic, but Tim Draper predicted that bitcoin would be $10000 in 2018. We should learn patience from bitcoin investment, because patience is a virtue. Only bitcoin hoarders can make huge amount of fiat money and bitcoin.

I do think this speculation is happen on 2018 or some time. I think we will reach to 2000$ and above value on next halving. Before we can see multiple fluctuations in the price value. I hope we need till happen and check it. Many of the speculations are not happening in real.

the next halving is about 3 and a half year in the future. so you think it will take about 3.5 years to only rise 2x?
i seriously doubt it.
price has been rising with good multipliers over the past. in 2015 it went up 2.3x and in 2016 it went up 2.5x and before that i mean the years before MtGox pumping bitcoin and ruining everything, price was going up 2-3x every year.
2569  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin is a good investment now, because... on: February 03, 2017, 01:30:25 PM
Yes the price of Bitcoin is increasing which is stable.... And more people are buying bitcoin because of its stable price....investment in Bitcoin is profitable now...stableness of its price and increase of it....

not too stable because we can see in the market, the bitcoin price is up and down and for today, we can see after the price is reach the higher price, now the price is getting down so we should be careful when we do trading. but if we only save our bitcoin as investment, then we don't have to worried about up or down the price because we are make investment for long term and we can sell our bitcoin in maybe 2 years later but it is only few people that do this.

these ups and downs are more than normal and they happen in any market, and since bitcoin market is smaller, the changes can be bigger.
and besides you shouldn't even be talking about these changes unless you are a day trader and want to take advantage of these shorts. right now price is back at 1006+ dollars. and i doubt that you are a day trader.
2570  Economy / Speculation / Re: Cashing out.... on: February 02, 2017, 02:22:47 PM
Kinda feel the price will drop quite a bit, will probably cash out and buy back in after the dust has settled... The chinese  exchange fees look like its going to be a bubble popping but just my opinion... But why the insane mempool size?
Has the OP been back since he made this post? I would like to know if he still feels the price will drop quite a bit? I got mixed feelings atm...
Price went from $900 to $980 since OP created this topic.
Price may fall again, but I really doubt that will be for lower level than $900
OP must be crying now, or decided don't look back, so no risk to see that the price increased
I thought we were heading for a drop too when the transaction volume dipped as low as it did after China stopped margin trading and zero fees. I am not sure what to make of this right now.

the mentality of thinking that bitcoin price could have fallen because of Chinese exchange volume drop comes from years of spreading FUD and saying bitcoin price is affected by China most of all. which is a wrong mentality and it will start to change as time passes.

the recent events proved that China has never been big in bitcoin world.

i would love to see what OP has to say now too.

It wasn't just the China volume, it was trading volume across the board that dropped. It was the total drop that had me concerned. Right now, everything looks good.

first of all you are making mistake by comparing the volume of stable price time (stable at 916-918) with volume of volatile time (going from 780 to 1166 and back to 800 etc) this is obviously going to be a huge drop in volume when price becomes stable.

also Chinese volume dropped from 5 billion dollar to 1 million dollar that is a huge drop.

but bitfinex went from 6-7 million to 2 million dollar (a perfectly normal drop because of stability)
2571  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why we still gambling while we always lose? on: February 02, 2017, 01:09:01 PM
when you do betting You always lose
why we still go through on betting place?!!!

that is an excellent question and there is a very simple answer for it:
you are addicted to gambling, and you have not yet figured it out.
which is why unless you hit rock bottom, and lose all your money you wouldn't be quitting gambling.

p.s. by "you" i mean someone who can not give it up and continues betting despite alway losing money.

2573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What determines the price of Altcoins? on: February 02, 2017, 01:00:32 PM
In a simplistic way: the market. More broadly, what determines value is its adoption, that is, everything is regulated by the simplest rule of the market, supply and demand. There are several factors for supply being greater than demand and several other factors for demand being greater than supply. In altcoins generally the news involving the same reflect a lot in value.

i have got two things to say to this:
1) there is no adoption in altcoin market. out of a couple of thousands of altcoins only less than 10 of them have more application than just trading and those 10 nobody uses them for those applications.
2) i agree with supply and demand but you should remember that demand is this market is what the pumpers and their disciples say it is not as the same meaning we have in other markets.
2574  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is the altcoin era over ? on: February 02, 2017, 12:55:04 PM
surely the new waves of scam after scam and copy shitcoin after one another is killing the altcoins and making all of them look terrible as a group but at the same time, that is not all there is to altcoins. there are still good ones out there, although hard to find and sometimes you get even disappointed in those coins too.
but there is still hope, and that is why i say the era is not yet over.
2575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How to be 100 safe - altcoin on: February 02, 2017, 12:50:22 PM
i suggest you stay away from crypto currencies until you learn some basic tings first! it seems like you are way too confused.

Hello,
I recently bought some litecoin and i m using the online wallet  from  https://blockchain.info/.
litecoin is an altcoin
blockchain.info is a bitcoin wallet, you can't use one for the other.

Quote
I use 2 layer encryption with password phone and authenticator.
Still i receive feedback quoting that any online wallet can be hacked into even when you re using a Linux Host and madly strong passwords.
when you are online,  a simple key logger can steal your passwords and have access to your wallet, private keys and in one word your money.
and even if you use a strong password you are still putting your trust in a third party to have strong security in their encryption and storage.

Quote
Fact also is that a company like https://blockchain.info/ could go bankrupt or just disappaer from the our planet whatever
you have access to your private keys which means even if you someday can not open blockchain.info website you can still spend bitcoin with the keys.

Quote
My question is :  I would like to buy altcoin but i want to be 100 safe.
you again use the word altcoin.
alt+coin is alternative coins which means alternative to bitcoin. in short any crypto currency that is not bitcoin is called altcoin.

i feel like you are mixing these two. and in fact want to invest in bitcoin.

Quote
I guess i need a hardware device but here again i hear rumours about backups more then 2 terrabyte etc etc etc....
don't know where you bring 2 TB! there are full node wallets such as bitcoin core which store the whole blockchain (don't confuse with blockchain.info the website) and the size of it is 100 GB

you can buy a hardware wallet, it is just a device.
you can also research what cold storage is.

Quote
Does this mean i will need to buy several of them hardware devices if i buy more altcoin....Them things consume so much HD space....
again! revise your question.

Quote
Also i wonder about my online wallet at https://blockchain.info/
What do i do after  i exported all my products to them HD devices?  There s no link on https://blockchain.info/ with info how to delete an online account.
Still my data is upthere in them databases....
i am not sure what you ask here. but don't put your data there if you are not sure about them!

Quote
I also wonder what would be the best HD device for storing several altcoins on the longrun. I m talking about 10 years or something
there is no one wallet that can store multiple altcoins.
2576  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can trading be considered as gambling?? on: February 01, 2017, 03:15:21 PM
obviously when people are new to trading and they don't think about trades they make and just do them by buying a completely random altcoin because someone on social media said it is good and then wait to get rich, it means they are gambling.
but this certainly doesn't mean trading is gambling, it only means those newbies are gambling.
because you can find good projects to invest in, trade them and make a successful career  out of trading even.
2577  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Rushes Over 950$ on: February 01, 2017, 03:07:56 PM
bitcoin is the future money and a lot of people have invested in it, we all know soon there won't be enough for all of us and today being 1 in a million.
the year before the last it meant with only $4600 you could be 1 in a million.
last year it meant investing less than $10,000
and today it means investing about $20,000 to be 1 in a million.
and this will go on and things will become harder when you get in late.

(in case you didn't know 1 in a million means having 21 bitcoin out of the 21 million max)
2578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: My 2017 predictions on: February 01, 2017, 03:01:26 PM
things are getting messy again in altcoin market, bitcoin price started going up again and all the altcoins started getting dumped hard! i hate it when it happens but then again it is a good time to pick up the bottoms and make profit on the jump back up.

what do you guys think is going to be the next big pump after this period?
2579  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: cloud mining on: February 01, 2017, 02:54:32 PM
cloudmining has never been good and in the past 2 years the only cloudmining services that you will see are Ponzi schemes because cloudmining is not even profitable for the owners anymore.
so i am curious why you even want to put yourself in such a position with your money? you take a huge risk trusting a "website" that you don't even know who owns and if it is even real and then get small payments always scared if they are going to run away or not.
2580  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blochain in the medical industry?! on: February 01, 2017, 02:47:25 PM
Blockchain Technology can be applied to Medical Industry as well and not only to digital or cryptocurrencies.

yep
instead of
[txid:0a1b3c, in[19z8y7x value:0.1], out:[15g4h3k value:0.1] signed:987zyx]
it could be
[medical record:12345, patient[SSN case:123] test[heart diease result:positive] signed:Dr. co-signed:hospital]

or ANY data at all. it does not have to be in the format we recognise as a 'transaction'

but isn't this some kind of a flawed thing to do?
i mean one of the things about blockchain is that it is public which means anyone can have access to all the medical records of all patients which is a violation of privacy unless the data is also encrypted, then i don't get what the point of blockchain in the middle of all this is!

also you have to be able to delete records for example after someone is dead. there is no point in keeping it. how are they going to do that?!
