I don't think it makes sense to try hard when posting - the more natural you are, the more the community appreciates you. Of course, there are highly reputable members out here who try their best on improving the forum or Bitcoin itself, but if you're going to post just for the post count increase, posting a line or bulshitting in 10 is literally the same thing.

I guess the mistake most make is that they rush in to get to higher ranks in order to earn BTC on a weekly basis, but that can be seen from a mile and affects your account on the longer term. If you feel like writing a wall of text, do it. If you feel like writing just a line, again - do it. But don't shitpost and don't spam and it won't be long before someone will start appreciating your posts.
2562  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Did Bill Gates create Corona Virus? on: April 19, 2020, 03:21:09 PM
Interesting thread, did not know that one about Gates was live on BTCTalk already. Let me come up with an article from December 2019 I haven't seen yet in the last few pages:

https://www.lemonde.fr/afrique/article/2019/12/19/le-kenya-et-le-malawi-zones-test-pour-un-carnet-de-vaccination-injecte-sous-la-peau_6023461_3212.html

It seems incredible for me that many people still do not understand that Bill Gates is trying to push us towards that "we want your vaccine!" moment. SARS and MERS vaccines have had no success. I mean, according to R.F.K. Jr's post from a few days ago, they had success in the first stages but once the animals were challenged with the virus again, the results were catastrophic.

So why are we waiting for a vaccine that will not even work anyway or could have a catastrophic result months afterwards?

People were denying the fact that Gates is willing to microchip us. Now read the article above from 2019 and see for yourself. Does anyone really think that the article above + his patent for a body-activity-tracking crypto WO2020/060606 + his chilling video where he clearly explains how he wants to "slow down population growth" + the controversy of his tests on children in India + his ID2020 + his own words from Reddit about digital certificates is STILL not enough proof for the so-called "conspiracy theory" (if anyone ever calls you a conspiracy theorist, link them to the CIA DOC 1035 960) about him willing to implant microchips under our skin?

(added later) Here's some more: some USA vaccine manufacturers and individuals have gained liability immunity through the PREP act. Now ask yourself why if they're so sure this lockdown will end in a successful mass vaccination. Spoiler: because they know the vaccination is going to be successful in the beginning, and then the chaos begins. Smiley

They're literally not hiding it anymore at all and yet there still are people who say it's just in our mind. It's just a conspiracy. It's just uneducated people. When the day of microchipping comes, they'll say "so what? It doesn't kill us!".

Sad.
2563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Minereum- Another Ponzi Scheme ? on: April 19, 2020, 03:01:34 PM
It was an obvious scam from the moment they said they're giving almost $300 for free per address. Anyone who thought this was real is a bit silly! I wish this was real, but come on, in less than 30 minutes I can supposedly claim a free $30k.. Cheesy

Look at the history of these "free money coins": KICK, MNE etc. They're all going for the same technique. The saddest part is that many fall for the scam. People play their game without even looking at the first Minereum airdrop to see they had absolutely no development.

If it seems too good to be true, it most likely is.
2564  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If we are to start from beginning. on: April 19, 2020, 02:31:49 PM
If possible, I would switch back to the gold standard and prevent anyone from having the power to print as much money as possible and from creating what we today know as Amazon, Apple or Microsoft. I'd prevent corporations from becoming the power they are today.

Bitcoin-wise, I'd probably just let it be. It can't be the world currency because any national currency still needs regulations and a bit of control, so I'd let Bitcoin just be whatever its destiny wants it to be.
2565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Boogle Coin, Are they Google? Lets Discuss. on: April 19, 2020, 12:10:32 PM
It's quite cheap of them to use the Google name, turn the "g" upside down and make it "Boogle". It is just cringy imo.

If Boogle was somehow affiliated with Google, don't you think Google would've stated it from the beginning? If they were affiliated and Google did not want anyone to know, they obviously wouldn't have chosen this name. So no, it's the same situation a supposed "coin" from a few days ago was in on BTCTalk when they put its shortname as "CMC" for people to mistake the coin for CoinMarketCap. It's a semi-smart, semi-stupid strategy.

You just don't try rising your project based on someone else's name. If you go that path, lots of people will disrespect you and your name for doing it. Cheap shit.
2566  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Comeback is real. on: April 19, 2020, 11:34:37 AM
Note: I'm not an expert but I do have some years experience of trading.

First, do I need to study different technical analysis? Will it be helpful (...)?
Any new information you add to your actual knowledge is good and will improve your perspective when it comes to analyzing graphs, charts etc. However, I wouldn't rely solely on analyzing charts. Staying up to date with everything going on in the crypto sphere is crucial when you're trading.

If you can get some insider info, get it and make use of it. Insider information is an essential factor for taking the right steps at the right time. It makes no sense to analyze a chart and notice it's bullish if 5 minutes later Binance exit scams. It could turn the market from bullish to extremely bearish in a matter of seconds.

Second, do you know some famous crypto fanatics whose giving some good tips (...)?
I used to follow more than 20 very popular traders back when I used to do trading on a daily basis. What I learned from this is that they usually have a timeframe where they become extremely popular and all their trades are a success, but after a while each and every one of them started having quite a lot of missed tips.

I'd say go over Twitter and follow a few of the top analysts and traders, go to TradingView and find some of the top trader out there and check out on a daily basis their graphs and how they analyze charts. It surely does improve your techniques and you'll do much better after a while. But trading based on other traders' analysis is a hit-or-miss. So is yours, but at least this way you'll learn to make choices for yourself.

Lastly, what do you think are the good coins now to look forward to?
I'd advise you to start from Bitcoin and pave your path from there. Altcoins are very good if you're willing to go for a higher volatility, so the less known the altcoin is, the higher the risk. I have an altcoin I thought has a great future I have invested $10 in and today it's worth under $0.1, so choose them very wisely.

Bitcoin can be very volatile too, Bitcoin could turn from $7k to $70 at any time - there is a possibility of it happening. But the chances are much smaller. Visit CMC right now, do you see these coins that are up 20-30% in a day in the top 100 ones? Now go over the next few pages and you'll find coins that are up more than 90% in a day.. and now imagine if you made the wrong moves when trading them. Would've been a big mess.
2567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Up or Down, People Hodl on: April 19, 2020, 11:11:07 AM
perspectives! While its not certain to determine the fate of the market in the near future , one thing is certain, more people are learning the trade now and often tend to deposit more for trading and other purposes in exchanges which is a good thing. The more people learn about crypto, the more they buy btw and deposits will increase as depicted in 2017 which was a year of boom
Well, from the chart in the OP it looks like people tend to move their BTC to exchanges and buy alts/fiat with them which makes the withdrawals not count as BTC ones. If there are lots of deposits and less withdrawals, it means they're withdrawing something other than BTC.

On the other hand, there's one thing we do not take into account: the fact that a lot of people are holding most of their funds on exchanges instead of personal wallets. I've seen people on BitcoinTalk use their exchange wallet as signature campaign payout addresses.
2568  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Isn't this the best time for Bitcoin? on: April 19, 2020, 10:48:08 AM
But for sure people will glorify banks when banks do offer them something they want in return, you can't just educate people with bitcoin because it has a huge advantage in any financial terms. I guess the time that you are trying to say is the time that we already have the grown up millennial who is techie and knows a lot of stuff in gadgets and internet. For now, you can't just teach old people how to use bitcoin to pay digitally, we don't want any people to be vulnerable in any kind of worse scenario.

Years and years of waiting, maybe in the next decade we'll start to see the progress. As of now I'm pretty glad to see the adoption process of some people and businesses across the globe.
If our system wanted to, we could've included the old people in it too with a very simplistic concept. But Bitcoin isn't something the system wants. They want to have control over the money we have, and it is partially correct because there are instances where you just need to take control.

You're right too, Bitcoin is a hard-to-understand asset so educating people to switch over to BTC is a damn hard task. But it's achievable, although maybe not with our current generations. Time will see.

2570  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Paranoid about anonymity on: April 18, 2020, 03:01:18 PM
Personal opinion: there doesn't even need to be the desire/need to hide from anyone. It's just that we should stop letting them take our intimacy away. Why let anyone, be it the ISP, VPN or whoever else know what you're doing on the internet? I'm sure you'd mind if I knew every time you entered a website and all your internet traffic even if I told you and you knew that I wouldn't harm you in any direct/indirect way. Why let someone else?

I don't know, it should bother us all how much we're being used and how our own, personal thoughts, ideas and information are all being sold by the people we pay on a monthly basis. Take a look at this article: https://www.experian.com/blogs/ask-experian/heres-how-much-your-personal-information-is-selling-for-on-the-dark-web/

Who can assure you that your ISP 100% does not take your information and sell it on the dark web/black markets anonymously?

You don't need to be a criminal. You don't need to have something to hide. You only need to prevent yourself from being another product for the companies you pay.

~
I never said that no one needs anonymity. I know there is a lot of people who would be at great risk if they wouldn't be anonymous online. I said that I personally don't need anonymity because I live in a relatively free country where I don't have to watch what I'm writing. And I'm not doing anything illegal to be
Oh man, that's just in your own mind. I'm from a theoretically "relatively-free" country too. Freedom is only a relative world, it's imaginary. If you think it from more perspectives, you aren't really free. You're part of a society that submits to their own government. I don't know which country you are from, but take a look at countries locked down due to the pandemic. This is how fast "freedom" can vanish. Within one speech and a few pieces of paper, it's gone.

You don't have to watch what you're writing but someone else watches it for you and it may turn against you at any time. Consider me paranoid, this is basically a debate between someone who wants to have their own intimacy and someone who doesn't give a damn right now about their own data being sold and transferred to intelligence agencies and whoever else at all times!
2571  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Isn't this the best time for Bitcoin? on: April 18, 2020, 02:38:13 PM
Bitcoin's moment will be when people will be educated not to trust banks or any third parties. That's gonna be a long, hard road but we're on it right now. When we will all wake up to reality and realize how we don't really need a third party to be under control of our own financial assets, we'll know that Bitcoin is the key.

This is not our moment. I think it's going to take many years before people are going to start realizing the above. Let's not forget the fact that many still do not know even the basics of cryptocurrencies. We need lots of patience. Smiley
2572  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Up or Down, People Hodl on: April 18, 2020, 02:30:22 PM
Doesn't it actually mean the opposite? If there are more deposits than withdrawals, it means more people are putting their BTC on an exchange than those who are withdrawing into their personal wallets. I see it this way, maybe my perspective is wrong.
2573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitcoinGold is halving today on: April 18, 2020, 02:17:31 PM
Let's be serious - at the end of the day, all forks will come to an end and the real BTC will shine. There are too many existing & upcoming forks and it just doesn't make sense anymore. Sure, people will still divide in different communities, but maybe one day a consensus will somehow be found for all to peacefully work with the same coin out there.

All these forks now have to go through halving events and it's going to become just overwhelming for the community. We'll get to a point where you just won't be able to keep up with all these events so you'll mainly focus on BTC. That's why imo prices will not be as influenced as Bitcoin's. People will trade it the most and will valuate it the easiest.
2574  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Massive Bitcoin Sextortion Scam Emails Sent to U.S Users - DON'T PAY on: April 18, 2020, 02:00:14 PM
I've never understood the people who cave or worse when threatened with the real deal, let alone pathetic crap like this.

We all have willies, minges and ring pieces. Many of us fiddle with them on a regular basis. If I got sent an attachment of someone I knew shoving a blender up their arse it would certainly be a surprise but the only thing it would change in my feelings towards them would be to keep my blender packed away when they came round.

I could understand someone properly freaking if they were filmed murdering someone or fiddling with orphans. Beyond that I assume most people have their private deprivations. No biggie if it slips out.
You and I both know this world is full of idiots so this is a psychological game that's played not by the ones who leak these images but by those watching it after it leaks.

I have friends who had their private parts exposed on the internet and it wasn't a fun thing for them. Next thing you know is your inboxes are flooded with all types of idiots saying all the crap that puts your moral down to the ground. It's not the videos/information/pictures, it's the people. And if the threat is real and the media really is leaked on the internet, it unfortunately ends in a dramatic way more times than it should.
2575  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto sentiment of a kid: How can I improve learning about crypto on: April 18, 2020, 12:54:23 PM
I admire your ambition, it's going to be a fun ride and an excitement that never stops.

From my own experience, you usually contribute indirectly every day without even acknowledging it. I unfortunately do not know any programming language and it's not really what I'd ever do, but if it interests you then follow joniboini's advice.

I think I've brought at least 30 people myself into blockchain & cryptocurrencies. Once you become interested in it, you start advertising & talking about it without even knowing. Information gets accumulated by daily research and interest in the crypto sphere - the more you read, the more knowledge you have about it. Some of the users here surely do have a very in-depth knowledge of cryptocurrencies and I have all my admiration for them. It takes a lot of time and a pretty big brain to gather all that information and be able to answer literally any question with lots of technical information.

Age doesn't matter. In fact, the younger you are, the more time you have to think of something new and unique. As you have been born "later", you may have a different perspective than the others so you never know what the future has to offer for you. Don't take your age as a wall in front of development & knowledge because it's actually a very large open door.

Even if you start from a very small project, in time you never know when a brilliant idea pops up in your mind like a light bulb and you start developing a revolutionary project you never thought you could. Never lose ambition, never give up. Keep on researching and for every question you have, find the answer. Let there be no unanswered question in your mind and you may be one of the most recognized members of our crypto community one day.

I think this fits the definition from a dict shared above. Are you saying that sextortion is an attempt to get nudes pics/vids from somebody and not anything else?
~
I missed the definition shared above, apparently I was the wrong one as I thought "sextorsion" meant something completely different. I thought sextortion was threatening someone to forcefully send certain sexual pics/vids (not money) of themselves or personal information would be exposed on the internet.

My bad. Smiley

2578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your opinion on stable coins? on: April 18, 2020, 11:00:16 AM
Stablecoins are not changing in price, so they're as good as an investment as holding USD in your bank account is. In fact, stablecoins may be even worse due to the centralized aspect of them.

They can be used to, for example, swap from BTC to USDT if you are predicting that BTC is going to have a crash. In other words, it's like selling BTC for USD but without having to send and move any amount through any of your bank accounts. For short term trades, it's fine.

It's much easier to go through a stablecoin than through fiat (and removes possibilities such as having your bank account question your crypto moves), but stablecoins are usually critiqued because they aren't really cryptocurrencies but more of a portal between crypto and fiat..
2579  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Massive Bitcoin Sextortion Scam Emails Sent to U.S Users - DON'T PAY on: April 18, 2020, 10:39:37 AM
I think people who have received these kind of emails have matured already so at least identify this as a malicious intent to scam them so no one is sending anything from the scammers and I do hope that no one will because it is obvious that this is a scam attempt. I would understand is someone is going to fall to a sophisticated scam but this one? Nah, I don't think so.
There is always going to be new people in the crypto industry so there are constant streams out there of possible new victims. When Bitcoin or alts will explode, the digital frauds will surge too.

If you had received right now a message like the e-mail OP linked to and you can relate to the password and information from it, chances are you will be scared it might be real. Newer people or non tech geeks are going to fall for it easily. No one wants pictures and videos of themselves to pop up everywhere on the internet. It changes your life. Psychology is what these cyber frauds work on.

By the way, this is not sextorsion! I thought this would be an e-mail from someone asking for nudes or in 24hrs a big "bomb" of personal information would be exposed on the internet. Edit: apparently, I was wrong. Check replies below.
2580  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I am New to Cryptocurrency Request Help and Advice on: April 18, 2020, 10:27:09 AM
In order to have a good start here, you must first understand what Bitcoin really is, how it works, how to store your coins properly and some tips in order to avoid being the next scam victim or the next one who loses their coins one way or another. So here comes a little tutorial that will help you begin your journey, including some of my personal experience:

1. What is Bitcoin?

2. How does Bitcoin work?

3. How do I store my coins properly and safely?

4. How do I buy Bitcoins?
  • I'll write this one for you. Use exchanges that are non-custodial (decentralized). Make sure you read the terms and conditions before rushing in on a website. Better "waste" 10 more minutes and buy Bitcoins without hassles than rush it and have surprises. First of all, if a website mentions having KYC anywhere, run away and look for something else. Secondly, I'd recommend you to buy from either ATMs or through Bisq or other decentralized exchanges. Just make sure your bank account is okay with people who are transacting with cryptocurrencies, or your account could get locked to your surprise. Look for ways that do not invade your privacy. Your personal data is very valuable. Take maximum care of it. Do extensive research about an exchange before using it and never give out your private keys or seed to anyone! Once you have your coins, you can use Bisq or Atomic DEX to buy other cryptocurrencies if you wish. Another option is to mine Bitcoins, which is the best but requires some large investment to be made. For mining, check out the Mining board.

5. How do I avoid future scams and fund losses?
I think I can summarize this for you too:
  • Run away from any offer or service that seems too good to be true. No, the crypto insane giveaways aren't real nor are almost 100% of the cloud mining services. Nobody will give you money for free!
  • A lot of people are tempted to join lots of bounties to earn altcoins. Although the first ones were okay, today we have too many scams to filter them out from the okay ones. So I always consider bounties a waste of time unless one really proves to be legit.
  • Always save your master seed or private keys and never give them to anyone. They're purely yours. Giving away your seed/private keys is like giving me the keys to your house.
  • Do not use centralized wallet services. Blockchain? Coinbase? Forget them! Use Electrum for PC and Mycelium for mobile and be under complete control of your funds.

Good luck. Smiley
