2581  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Question about antminer u3 PSU on: January 25, 2016, 06:06:15 PM
Also, is there anything it can be done to prevent it from going zombie?

Eventually after 2-3 hours it stops hashing.. dunno why..

I don't think you read about these miners as much as you should have before buying Smiley.  Zombie is their nature it happens and is a pain and makes it where you have to babysit them.

Other option is automation best one I think is a R1 with CrazyGuy's custom firmware to restart it if there is a zombie.

Also when I asked:
Hot is still  not a good thing when talking about power adapters.  Is this one that came with U3 or a " 4.5 A" you described once above?

What does more or less mean on that?
2582  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How much power will an S7 use per month in kWh? on: January 25, 2016, 06:03:07 PM

Electricity Spend (usdcents) = installed power * 30 days * 24 hours * availability * electricity price per kwh

I think your equation is over complicatated, and not sure I follow it.  What does availability of electricity have to do with getting cost?  You might have a lot available but it's the amount you use that is going to be calculated.

Power used * electricity rate   You can get daily from that then just times it for number of day's in month.  For example look at using coinwarz to get daily:
http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency

Entering 1400 watts at .10 cents you get - $3.36 for electricity per day.   So times it by day's in month say January 31.  3.36 X 31 = 104.16  So you are pretty close at 100ish.  Just make sure that .10 cents includes things  I mention in above post.   Past electricity bill is honestly best way to get it.
2583  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer s7 stop hashing Help please - BITMAIN on: January 25, 2016, 05:57:36 PM
EVEN BITMAIN TECH DOESN'T RESPONSE

Send a letter  to info@bitmaintech.com

I sent a few days ago 3 x S7 blades to repair, but my blades all show  temp 0

OP take a step back and breath.  You have tested IO board, bb board, psu, so you have done a lot of the initial testing.  Send a email to address Tupsu mentioned.

You might not get a email back right away if they are busy.  If you don't get it in a few day's try again.  Make sure to include in email all that you have tried to show them what has not worked.

Bitmain's APW3-12-1600-B2 as the power supply

Just noticed you have two threads going.  I asked in other one a few questions: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1340522.msg13674566#msg13674566

I might suggest going to one spot to get answers and stick with it.
2585  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer s7 batch9 board problem on: January 25, 2016, 05:48:59 PM
Hello ,
I have a brand new S7 batch 9 and  only 10 day  , now work with only 6 chips on one board
The PSU is Bitmain APW3-12-1600-B2

I have changed the cable and upgrade to the latest firmware +many reboot

Thank you for help

Just to make for sure you are using that PSU on a 220/240 connection?   Just want to rule that out first.  (The psu should not start under 205 but in a few cases I have seen it happen).

Did it start out with full chips? Or has it always been 6 since you started mining with it?
2586  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: January 25, 2016, 05:44:58 PM
UPS wants to charge me a fee for import duties.  This may well be the last miner I buy from bitmain since they obviously can't get their shit together with the paperwork.

Was it over $2500 total purchase or below.  Fedex seems like the bether route.

Just one miner.  It must have been around $1130ish at time of purchase.  So looks like the duty comes out to around 3.15%.  I have never had to pay a duty on miners before.  I saw that conversation about HST codes but I had already made the order by the time people were talking about it in the thread and I was unable to go back and change anything to add it to my order.

Call the number on the invoice and tell them what it is, UPS will refund, at least they refunded mine.

Well after calling UPS many times, waiting for a call back and not getting it, then calling again, then calling different departments, I was told the charge was being removed.  The miner hasn't arrived yet, supposed to arrive today so we'll see if the driver gets the info that there isn't supposed to be a charge.  The lady I talked to asked me what a bitcoin miner is and then she put me on hold and when she came back she said she "added an entry in the system for bitcoin miner that has no duty fees".  Now I don't know if that is specific to my delivery or if that means a UPS-wide thing so that this doesn't happen with packages labelled "bitcoin miner".  It sure seems like when you call them, you get told entirely different things depending on who you talk to.

I should also apologize to bitmain for my original post too.  This does not appear to be their problem after all, it's a UPS problem so apologies to bitmain on that count.

Most likely was specific to your delivery.  I doubt they did a blanket rule for everyone.   If you are in US and get a decent sized charge call the carrier, as you really should not have that much extra cost over shipping if any.

It is normally a mixup and can be fixed by calling when it does happen.   Some other countries are stuck with vat/import taxes so this calling will not work for everyone.

Omggggggg if it's the new bitfury chips . . . Grin
I'm sure he plans to stick to the Litecoin/Scrypt market.

Not to mention you are going to have to have a big amount of cash to get those bitfury chips.   They chances are not going to mess with anyone without hundreds of thousands to millions to spend most likely.

I sent you a PM jstefanop once you have time if you could get back me.    Just want to make sure I'm good to go on my order.
2588  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Profitability help... on: January 25, 2016, 05:35:32 PM
Hi All,

I am stuck trying to work out some costing, the power rating of an S7 is around 1300W but how much is that in kWh - is it 1300*24?
Energy in the UK is expensive and I highly doubt I would make a profit with this costs below:

Electricity -
Unit rate:
12p ($0.17) per kWh

Standing charge:
26p ($0.37) per day

VAT:
20%

Miner -
S7 power consumption:
1300W

Hardware Cost:
£700 ($1000)

If someone could help clear up my query about the kWh, that would be great Smiley

Thanks

You have zero chance of making money at those rates, and vat ontop.  Just to darn high which I know stinks.

Your only chance is being able to use a data center.  Look out there and there are some good ones that will be 10 cents or less... so quite a bit of  savings vs you doing it yourself in this case.  And also you can pick one without vat... again saving money.  So I think a good hosting center is your only chance if you want to own gear.
2589  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer s3 on: January 25, 2016, 05:33:20 PM
Thanks for the reply!  I put them both back to normal for now.  The EVGA PSU came with 4 pcie dedicated cables and 2 pcie cables that split into two each.  So 8 total.  I have each miner hooked to a split cable with each branch of the cable going to a different bank, then each miner also has 2 dedicated pcie cables going to individual banks.  So each bank gets one dedicated and one split pcie cable.  If that makes sense.  I know its not ideal, but its all ive got.

Suggestions?

Did normal freq make miner go back to all O's?   That is the big thing is that you get rid of those X's as you will lose speed.

So i'm guessing best suggestion is just leave as normal freq.  Having 2 PCIE and splitting them into 2 each is not like having 4 different PCIe cables per miner, which some OC needs.
2590  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New 3 x S7 Miner Setup With 0.0066 $ Elect. Rate on: January 25, 2016, 05:29:37 PM

Hello,

i`m waiting for my order of 3 antminer S7 (14.19 TH/s Total) with 3 PSU expected to be delivered this week and the Electricity Rate in my country is 0.0066$.

i want your help about what to do next ?

- Pool mining OR Self mining ?
- if its Pool mining what pool should i go with ? and what is the best Pay out method ?

and i`ll appreciates any advice from you guys:)

thanks Smiley

Defintally go with pool I would say if you want sure thing of mining BTC.  There are some different pools out there you need to decide if you want PPS with the two biggest pools do.  Or you might take PPLNS and support a pool such as ckpool that a lot like to support.

I see deciding the type of pay you want as biggest thing, and then picking pool you want to support.

The price is recovering pretty significantly from the recent downturn.

I think my cat was relying on a lower price helping keep the difficulty flat. Perhaps there won't be any fishy treats in it for him this time...

We were hitting over 400 by a tad for a little bit last night.  Now down around 390 so lost a little bit o the push up.

We are getting closer and closer to difficulty change to:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    113,354,299,801
Estimated Next Difficulty:    120,491,509,470 (+6.30%)
Adjust time:    After 130 Blocks, About 19.4 hours
Hashrate(?):    978,037,329 GH/s
2592  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Blocks found by hardware - solo.ckpool on: January 25, 2016, 05:24:21 PM
An s-7 .

And many via rentals on NH

Rentals are nice to hit the spot.I was too close to hit one .I rented around 750Th for 6 hours and got a best share of 60G when difficulty was around 72G i guess..

I would agree I think rentals are most likely the most common on solo.ckpool .  There are some that get lucky with running machines, but it's hard as most don't run enough power to really have a good chance.

With rentals you have the ability to get much larger amount of hash then you normally would mine with pretty easily.   There are also groups that go together and split the cost trying to hit it.   Then they have the ability to rent more as it's multiple people sharing cost.

I see that Bitmain has added to it's S7 spares with the IO Board for $17. Unfortunately they have gone with the version that only has 2 fan connectors & 3 hash Connectors. Have they made a range of spares available in the shop for previous Miners, or is this a first?

Rich

I think it's the first IO board for them to do this with.   They have been adding replacement parts here lately which I really do like.   They have always been more through email which has to be a pain for them.  So I think it's a better system overall.

They seem fair on price compared to what they could charge.  So I'm thinking positive overall.

2594  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did you earn some bitcoin today? on: January 25, 2016, 08:37:20 AM
Unfortunately the most faucets don't spend much, because Google adds is not longer working for them.
For example Bonusbitcoin.co you are not able to withdraw anything.

So I just receive some Sats from lending at Poloniex and for signature campaign.

They have not ever been a good way to spend time.  If you did it years ago... and held yes you might have made a good amount.  But today faucets just don't pay much.  Normally were talking about cent's per hours.

There are so many better things to do with your time.  If you learn something with those hours that is a service you can sell .. your better off this way eventually.
2595  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: How to Protect my faucet site from bots? on: January 25, 2016, 08:33:41 AM
Please put captcha on your site to prevent fraud bots.

there are service that solve captcha for you, so this is not a solution

you cna do besides adding captcha making the faucet sending money every 5 min, so they need to spend more on captcha sovler, to have the same amount of satoshi of a faucet that pay you every 1 hour

this mena that it will not worth it for them

I would think it's already not worth it.  Faucet pay's
80 Percent - 200 satoshi  - $0.0008013000
20 percent - 300 satoshi - $0.0012022800

Just a quick google it looks like your losing money.  5k solves for 7 dollars.
80 percent - 3.2052
20 percent - 1.2022

So spend 7 dollalrs and get 4.40 approx seems like crappy deal.   Only way they are making money if if it's automated and does not use human services.  And if that your talking about thousands of views and sends.   Unless someone knows some site that solves 5k for on average less than 4.40 dollars.
2596  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: [Group buy] hashrate for solo mining on: January 25, 2016, 06:41:44 AM
If your truly wanting to do this I suggest finding a escrow.  I don't think you have a very good chance unless you do.  Hard part is you need access to rent hash... so you really need a escrow who knows how to use I'm guessing nicehash.

But a escrow that is well known doing it and holding possible earnings will help you.
2597  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer s7 small farm almost free electricity profitable? on: January 25, 2016, 06:36:16 AM
I have  S5, S5+, SP20, Neptunes and C1 for sale here in Venezuela. Immediate delivery. 0 wait. PM if you are interested.

At first I thought if electricity is free then it's %100 chance of profit but then I see this message. If you have mining equipment in Venezuela and you try to sell I think it's not that profitable to mine at all. Selling equipment make you more profit.
I think if OP is serious about that he should try with smaller equipment first and see the income as notlist3d said.

My situation is different. I been doing this for a couple of years now. I have multiple sites spread over the capital city in order to avoid reducing the risk of having all the eggs on the same basket. The nice thing about operating in this area is that the government always tries to avoid programmed electricity cuts on Caracas.

I'm at the point where I spend a lot of time managing and maintaining sites. I sell my older miners to buy new ones just to get more hash rate per location.

Most people would think that I should hire technicians to keen up with all the grow, but it would just elevate my risk of getting robbed or kidnapped.

I've always kinda wondered about those truly operating there.  To many try to get others to send miners there, or buy into a operation there seems like once a month but it has slowed down.

If you did have a sizable operation how bad is it? Would you need full time security of multiple people?  How dangerous is it?  I'm curious as you seem to be pretty honest on it.

Don't know who'd buy any of these.... :/

No one they are old chips, looks like someone trying to unload old gear.  And they don't ship out of China.  So most of world will have to use hosting...

And they dont sound to confident in hosting "The hosting is provided by a 3rd party and they (not us) will be responsible of safekeeping of your miner."
2599  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Video: How to Save 30% off Amazon -- Complete Step-by-Step Guide on: January 25, 2016, 06:14:44 AM
So what happen if the order that is getting shipped to you was done with a gift card purchased fraudulently?
AFAIK nothing happens to you if you receive the goods. Since it is someone else that is fulfilling the wishlist that you created, then you nothing bad will happen to you if the order arrives. If it does not, purse.io uses escrow. When you want to buy something, IIRC bitcoin is taken from your balance and locked in escrow. Then you wait for someone to buy the stuff and wait for it to arrive. If it doesn't, then you can open up a dispute and you will get your Bitcoin back.

Are  you sure on this?  It seems if an address receives a bunch of carded merchandise even if through wishlist they would look into it.    I guess the carding aspect scares me on it.

But to  those who are braver sounds like a great deal if getting 20 percent off amazon.
2600  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: How to Protect my faucet site from bots? on: January 25, 2016, 06:11:21 AM
Please some one tell me how can I protect my btc faucet site from bots.. I am loosing my satoshi without traffic.

1)Add more than 1 captcha if 1 is not enough.
2) add anti-bot text where you can show text randomly on webpage before they claim satoshi.
3) text they need to click in particular order.

These might help you against bots.
from where can i get anti bot text?

Search about captcha is what people use to prove it's a person some are better then others.  I would guess your site is not worth a bot as paying to get capatcha solved vs amount paid I see losing money.

What is your current protection?  And are you sure they are not just using something like ad-blockers which could effect your traffic on ads?
