2581  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic implications of a US-China-Taiwan conflict on: February 13, 2023, 08:38:01 PM
China and the US at war is already a huge blow to the world, and to be honest it seems like they are already 'at it' but just not through violence but through economic sabotages and whatnot. Should these two giants go to war against each other, a lot of countries will be forced to join the war and it will literally be just bloodshed everywhere. I think both countries are using Taiwan as their fuse to have a reason to declare war against each other, and China knows that too that's why they're constantly trying to agitate Taiwan by sending in fighter jets to patrol around the region and cause a reaction from US or Taiwan.

No one wants this war to happen, but it seems that the top brass of both countries are itching to have it their way.
2582  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: how many times have you intended to stop gambling on: February 13, 2023, 08:10:43 PM
People who are in trouble because an addiction do not even recognize there is an addiction or do not want to admit it. It does not only happen with gambling but also with alcohol or behavior patterns.
I think you are right, most people that are addicted don't believe they are addicted, not even in gambling, they will keep on saying they are not addicted, some might even quarrel with you if you keep on telling them that they are addicted. Whenever you are doing anything, always make sure you are having limit and always try your possible best not to exceed your limit always, whenever you notice that you are exceeding your limits, then you getting addicted to that particular thing already.

Denial is the first stage of addiction. Failure to acknowledge that you are already spending way too much time doing something that is obviously hurting you and everyone around you means that you no longer recognize its dangers, and you only come in and do it for the pleasure of it. This will rapidly develop into something more extreme without the addict realizing it, and this is also the best time to intervene with what they're doing. Perhaps a talk with what's happening would be nice, although of course it's not always that easy. But yeah, persistence is the key to getting them back to normalcy and (hopefully) dropping their addiction down the line.
2583  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bad feeling like a bomb is gonna go off on: February 13, 2023, 07:42:06 PM
Does this mean that most of the time in the crypto market, a bomb is ticking off? Sideways markets have always been a characteristic of the crypto market, and what's happening right now is pretty similar. As for stablecoins, of course they won't really be trading far off from one dollar as that is what their purpose are. If they stray too far from their intended valuation, then Tether or any other organization handling those stablecoins would do the necessary adjustments to keep the price up or down to acceptable levels.
2584  Economy / Economics / Re: Is renting an inevitable waste of money? on: February 13, 2023, 07:01:26 PM
You can calculate the answer to your question, it most markets but not all it’s cheaper to rent when you look at the first 5 yrs of house ownership. At 5-15 it starts skewing to ownership and 15+ totally owning.

IMHO the time you expect to stay where you are becomes the more the moot point about whether you should buy or stay renting.

If you’re not buying to live in, but as an investment think of it as a savings account, where other people are basically paying into your savings account. General rule of thumb is make 5+% net annually and do not consider value appreciation, depreciation, tax breaks, saving interest etc in that calculation. Also consider most investors don’t borrow for the first one.

some people are very good in calculations but the plans not always work as we think.
-snip-

Most plans have rock-solid foundations when they are first created. But, most of these plans do not take into account the possible unforeseen circumstances that can happen along the way. These are the things that foil up a plan that causes its failure. So no matter how great the plan is on paper, if something happens that you're totally unprepared for, your plans will crumble. Similar to investments - if one single bad thing happened to your investments, you'll see your money dwindling away at a very alarming rate. So it's really great to have a stable career before you get that mortgage for a house because you'll never know when you're going to lose it all and really regret paying for a mortgage only for it to be taken away from you just because you can no longer pay for it.
2585  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 13, 2023, 06:14:31 PM
I think Melo's career is over, he averages 13 PPG with the Lakers but he does not give a big impact on the team to win. Maybe if the Suns will acquire him, that will give him a bigger chance to win a championship than his contribution to the team. I have no hate for Melo, but his time being a contributor to the team is already over.

If there's someone I think they should sign, it should be DeMarcus Cousins, he'll surely be a good backup Center for Ayton.

It's already time for Melo to leave this team and it's already stopped. I don't have a problem with Melo either, he was a very high level player in his old days, now he can't contribute even if he wanted to, I think he should leave the team. A little change will be useful for the Lakers, Lebron James's time is running out, he can no longer find the same rhythm in every game, even if he finds it, he will not find it in the future.

Well the Lakers clearly has a lot of plans on their team structure, but it doesn't really include Melo. A lot of times he's contributed to the team after LBJ joined the team but the attention and focus clearly is on the new big men of Lakers. And yes, I think Melo's career as a player is slowly coming to an end as he's not as explosive nor as powerful as Lebron. A lot of teams will surely try and acquire him for his experience yes, but they'll probably have a second thought about it as his stats currently do not reflect his experience in the court.
2586  Economy / Economics / Re: How we survive food shortages on: February 12, 2023, 10:49:17 PM
Start being self-sufficient and start growing greens in your backyard. If you have a small space that you can set up pots and soils on, you can probably start growing your own food and pick up things from there when you need it. In these dire scenarios, you wouldn't really expect anyone to help you as they're already busy helping themselves secure food. If the system already feeds a lot of mouths in a rather scarce resource, it helps that you alleviate that burden by having something growing on your own yard. May not be the best approach out there and obviously won't work to everyone, but if you have the means then just do it.
2587  Economy / Gambling / Re: Crashscores.com 💥 Realtime Crash Game Statistics on: February 12, 2023, 10:26:09 PM
Always fascinated with crash games and at what point do they crash. Now this might give me a better view on my questions about that. Anyway, a great and simple design that is not over the top, and just does what it needs to do. A few other reputable crash sites must be nice to have in your site in order to make a comparison amongst all of them. I know that crash is not something you can really make an analysis on but you can make use of this site to get a nice picture of what the previous crashes multipliers are and at what point do they crash so you can skip some rounds and bet on the next high paying round.
2588  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How does regulation affect the future of cryptocurrency? on: February 12, 2023, 09:48:46 PM
It's a make or break thing for crypto. If the regulation is in favor of cryptocurrencies, it can attract a lot of new people that have always wanted to try cryptocurrencies but never did because they're uncertain of its legality. If it's the opposite, it will drive away those who wanted to try it, while some hardcore users will likely still use it albeit being put into danger for their disobedience of the said regulation. Regulation, unfortunately, is what decides whether things will flourish or not. Same goes to crypto although it has somewhat existed without any regulations applied to it whatsoever but it still is deterring people to use it because of the uncertainty.
2589  Economy / Economics / Re: Can one achieve financial independence through crypto currency? on: February 12, 2023, 09:04:06 PM
That's a tough task to accomplish if you ask me. While everyone can make money on cryptocurrency, making the streams of money stable is pretty hard unless you do it full time. Well, even in full-time you'll find a hard time posting profits if you're not really a trained trader. You might make some dollar or two here and there but you'll never really beat the market if you're not trained to look out for signs.

It also helps that you already have the capital to buy cryptocurrencies and just hold on to them, although this one is kinda dull because you just let your money sit for extended periods of time with the possibility that you'll gonna lose your money in a flash.

G2 proved to be the most dominant team in early 2023 after their championship run in IEM Katowice. Everyone is focusing on m0nesy and jks when hooxi and hunter were the most active players that took initiative on rounds that matter, especially in Ancient. Hooxi's early round picks and great usage of flashes to support his team to get kills is being slept on by a lot of people. Well, jks really is a beast winning 2 IEM Katowice's in a row, and he's shown that he's still got it and is a valuable asset to G2's success.

G2's current roster is so perfect that you can't find fault in any one of them. Plus, their bond and their camaraderie is so wholesome, especially m0nesy and jks.

Anyway, next big event is ESL Pro League to be held in Malta. Not a lot of juicy games in between during the break so we might as well shift our focus to Dota (Lima Major) for next week.
2591  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: February 12, 2023, 08:13:58 PM
Lewis Hamilton is the greatest example of the 'dominating is disliked' thesis. Since he has been the champion for years every season, people got bored and started to hate him with the psychology of competing and seeing another champion. It is said that he will lose this year in every competition, and every year he wins again, causing anger to accumulate. On the other hand, Schumacher was a more nasty character, almost killing his former teammate Barichello in the race. The crew who is waving to lewis now worships Schumi, but Schumi was also disliked when he dominated, years later he gained value. It will be the same for Sir. Max will be hated if he continues like this.

People appreciate greatness when they see one, but they certainly don't want to see the same person in the pedestal for a long period of time. It just wears out their 'respect' for that person even though that person is truly showing talent and skill. Hamilton doesn't really deserve all the hate. He's a top chap and has shown his character is, for the most part, likeable. It's not his problem that his team built the most dominant car for years, helping him achieve championships after championships. To be honest, I only watched F1 again because of Hamilton and Bottas and their synergy on the track a few years back. Had it not been for Hamilton, I would not be following F1 after Schumacher retired.

It's heartbreaking to see Heroic lost Mirage. They got the lead 6-9 on the first half but lose their momentum early in their CT rounds. I think Mirage was a requirement for them to have a chance on the series. Winning Mirage means Ancient is guaranteed which they have better chance to win than Inferno. This is going 3-0 I'm sure, G2 just too strong on Inferno.

G2 knows every inch of Inferno. Their rotations on that map is pretty impressive thanks to Hooxi's mid round calls. And you have a team that hits most of their shots despite being in the big stage where the nerves really get into you. My bet is on G2 to win the tournament, but I want Heroic to at least win 1 map and extend the series before I eat all my snacks lol. I'm ready for this series to go the distance, but I guess Heroic is already disheartened and the next map is Inferno.

We all know how much of a beast hunter is in this map. He lurks pretty well and knows a lot of off angles and I think that will be a huge problem to Heroic.
2593  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury - February 26 in Saudi Arabia on: February 12, 2023, 04:55:44 PM
Even his fights in the professional are not good all his opponents are patsies, he fought fighters that do not fight back or do not have punches that can hurt, so this fight against Jake Paul is the first fight where he will fight a skilled fighter who can duck, counter punches and with posses good power in his punches.
Jake Paul is similar like Tommy Fury, his fight is full of cherry picked and not really a real boxer. I don't think Jake Paul can duck, he mostly throw random punch and make sure his punch will hurt his opponent. At least both of them are in the same level, so the fight can't be predicted which one will win.

Jake Paul can easily lose if he fight with a boxer who have a good dodge and technical skill e.g. Canelo, but yeah it doesn't make sense for new boxer fight with an Ex-Top 1 P4P rank.

I doubt Jake Paul will ever choose a real boxer to go against. He's out there to pad up his stats and collect for payday, and not really live up to the code of fighters of the sport. Tommy Fury is the same as him, and they're just looking to collect money from people that wants to watch this clown show of them.

Jake Paul gathered some of the mechanics of boxing along the way. He knows how to evade punches, but he's not really good at it. Line him up against an amateur boxer who's had his time in the ring and you'd see Paul get knocked out and caught off-guard by that amateur. Well might not be knocked out because that guy has a strong chin but still, in a fair environment I'll take an actual amateur boxer against this guy any day.

Anyone watching IEM Katowice finals right now? I'M PUMPED FOR MY $20! Never have I seen top 2 teams using the old rush strat. They've been doing this strat for a lot of rounds now and it's proving to be effective. Also, G2 is just showing how strong their CT side is on Nuke. When Heroic is in the CT side, they never dared to be as aggressive as G2 is. Jabbi and TeSeS is stepping up, but it isn't enough to convert it to a map win despite the 10-5 half.

20-map win streak for G2 now. God damn these guys are on fire.

I still don't get why people still play on random, obscure casinos that don't have that much online presence then complains about it on this forum. This doesn't make any sense. If you have that mucb money to spend on, you'd probably look for a casino that is highly trustworthy that won't take your money away. There are tons of trusted casino platforms here in the forum that will not scam you and would even be willing to provide you with bonuses just to make sure you had a good time. Sorry for your loss, but there's not much this forum can do about your case except for awareness on other people.

Watched a bit of the Navi vs Heroic match but it didn't look to good for them as they went down to 14-9 last I looked before switching back to a match I was already watching.

The real contest I was waiting for was the G2 vs Team Liquid one due to the fact they came back against Vitality when down 14-3 for map 1 yesterday and ended up winning it after that. That was an amazing comeback from Liquid.
But G2 just annihilated them today with a 2-0 and it wasn't even a contest.
Monesy alongside Niko are an unstoppable force in CS:GO no denying this.
And to think it is Monesy's second year with the eSports club and actually made his debut this tournament last season in Katowice.

Can't wait for the Grand Finals tomorrow between these two sides.
It should be an epic match to witness!

Heroic vs G2 is actually a good matchup. Both teams have been performing consistently since the latter half of 2022. Also, both teams have players that are consistent in ratings and impact, it will just boil down on who has the bigger brains to devise a strat on how they'd play the map. I love G2's slow plays on T side no matter the map is, and Heroic's aggression on key map spots in order to gain the early round advantage. I think this will be a pretty interesting match overall, but G2 should get this given how well their form is.
2597  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do casino and sports betting platform owners gamble as much as other people? on: February 11, 2023, 08:53:48 PM
I have seen a couple of times some casinos owner doing some wagers, but I don't think they do it for gambling, they do it more to test the engine. And if they want to gamble big, I don't think they will do it in their own casino because the fact that getting paid with your own money isn't a good business at all.

Most of the casino owners understand they are the house, and as the house, they are gambling 24/7 against the users, so, there is no need to place bets.

Pretty much sums it up.

Most of the time they play on their platform to see what else do they need to work on and what other things are there to improve. They don't need to gamble to earn money, they just have to run everything smoothly in order for the money to come in. They just need to iron out some of the features in order for the gamblers to have a good time, and if they have a good time they're likely to spend more.

As a business owner you don't use your product for personal consumption for the most part.
2598  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: February 11, 2023, 08:30:02 PM
Semi-final matches are being played in the iem katowice tournament. The first semifinal match was between heroic-navi. Heroic won both maps 16-8 to advance to the finals and await their opponent. Heroic is really performing at a high level as a team. The team has a good communication with each other. They reflect this well in the game.
In the other match, we see the G2-Liquid match. G2 won the first map. In the second map, they are now 14-7 ahead. We will probably see a G2-Heroic final.

G2 just sealed their spot in the grand finals of Katowice tomorrow against Heroic. Everyone on the squad is stepping up whenever needed, and man they annihilated Team Liquid in Inferno even on their force buys. We've seen NiKo clutch using the deag once more, m0nesy picking up kills on hard to achieve shots, hooxi being the best support for flash and trades, hunter- for the lurks, and jks for the entries on seemingly impenetrable site defenses. This squad would surely carry on and achieve a lot this year if they play consistently at this level. M0nesy is still getting better by the day and man, no one in the squad seems to be off the mark for the most part.

Current world top 1 and top 2 tomorrow. I'll place my bets on G2 that's for sure.
2599  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is Gambling? ChatGPT Responses. on: February 11, 2023, 07:37:01 PM
When we're bored, we can ask anything to chatgpt. All of its answers are based on the facts that are given to it but I wonder how they have programmed this AI.
It's like almost every response that it gives is near accurate but not all of it. If it's related to this topic asking a bot about what gambling is, we'll just get generic answers from it.

The AI is continuously learning through neural networks. It's like training it to speak over and over again based on the inputs that it's receiving from users and from its original data set. It's programmed in a way to learn just like the brain, and its AI is really intelligent to get accurate results/responses to whatever question it's thrown at. For the gambling aspect, well it's a pretty basic concept, and it just needs to interchange between words that it deems appropriate to use based on the nature of the question.

Today are the two semi finals matches of the IEM Katowice 2023 tournaments. It has been a very interesting matches so far and all the top teams Heroic, G2 and NaVi are still in so far. The first match will be NaVi vs Heroic, which is going to be quite intense. Heroic is currently ranked 2nd in the world after G2 and only lost one map so far this tournament against complexity. I think they going to win against NaVi and will play in the final tomorrow. NaVi had a more difficult tournament so far as they lost 2-0 against G2. The second match today will be G2 vs Team Liquid, which should be an easy win for G2. G2 managed to win all their matches 2-0 so far, whereas Liquid only played 2-1 in their last 3 matches. The final tomorrow will likely be Heroic vs G2 and I will bet on G2 to win the tournament.

Navi lost to Heroic 0-2 and I must say Teses is slowly becoming a force to be reckoned with with his clutches and his overall contribution to the Heroic squad. They shut down Navi royally in Inferno even though the said squad has been finding success in this map. Mirage on Map 2, Navi put up a fight somehow. B1t hits most of his shots and has been playing quite well, but it isn't enough against the tricks put out by Heroic especially on their CT side.

I'm 50/50 on Team Liquid and G2, because both of these teams have great momentum as of the moment. But yeah, m0nesy and jks are on fire right now so these two would be the walls that Liquid needs to take down if they want to have a chance on the finals.
